"I don’t know if there is a place that better illustrates why people return to this magical island time and time again than MV Salads, a very popular, perpetually busy, centrally located salad and wrap shop in Oak Bluffs."

"This Oak Bluffs shop is the spot to grab a sandwich or hearty salad—we love the Menemsha lobster cobb—to take with you to Inkwell Beach. Almost all the sandwiches can be made vegan, including the BLT that swaps mushrooms for bacon. There’s limited seating inside, and it gets crowded fast, so plan accordingly. " - tanya edwards

Google
MV salads does not disappoint. The owner, Susanna Herlitz-Ferguson, answered our questions, ensured the staff adequately took our order and made sure we were satisfied with every last bite. The salad options presented at MV Salads are unique, memorable, and delicious. We ended up ordering 2 different salad options. The house made dressings are crave-worthy. The house crafted juices are works of art by themselves. The atmosphere is exquisite. Well done Susanna and staff!

Google
MV, I’m in Love with your lobster salad with homemade dressing! Also, this place ensures everyone has a great experience. Oh, and don’t forget to leave a note & take a note of kindness ♥️

I was so impressed with my salad here! The service was so nice and the dressing was awesome! Literally such a nourishing and fulfilling meal!

Best salad I ever had. I came back many times on my trip to MV. Dine in or take out - the team at MV Salads was always doing a great job! The owner is such a lovely lady who also speaks German. The mermaid meadow summer salad is to die for 💙💙💙.

Google
Lots of great options to make a yummy salad. I wish they had chicken breast rather than dark meat chicken. Cute place and very friendly and accommodating staff. The free cornbread that comes with your salad is yummy. The price is a bit high but I really enjoyed my salad! A good salad is hard to find!! Especially on vacation.

Google
we came into mv salads soaking wet on a rainy day… they offered to put our coats in the dryer!! such a great experience and delicious fresh food!! i wanted to tip but they only accept tips for charity. definitely 5 stars ✨

Google

Google
Delicious! We were there the same week as President Obama and had the special named after him (see photo). The dressing in it was amazing. The place is beautifully decorated, including the bathroom! Make sure to visit the kindness station and leave a sweet note. 💛

Yelp
The salad was so good! Great portions and fresh, light, but flavorful dish! Decorated so cute! Service was friendly and food was ready within minutes

Yelp
Really great salads and wraps! If you're visiting Oak Bluffs in Martha's Vineyard, you have got to stop by MV Salads. The food is really good, whatever is in that special house dressing makes the salad taste 100x better! Their wraps are soo good too! You won't regret it! The owner is super nice and takes pride in her business. The best part? The aesthetic of the store itself is really awesome, the bathroom has sayings about kindness and there's even a kindness wall where you can take a note written by someone else and you leave one for another person. It's just a great concept overall!

Yelp
My Greek friend and I were visiting Martha's Vineyard and discovered this MAGICAL spot. First and foremost, the shop is inviting and the staff so welcoming!! This makes a huge difference. We were lucky enough to meet the owner, and she could not have been more friendly. THE FOOOOOOOOOD is fresh, inventive, delicious, simple and PERFECTLY BALANCED. The salad is delicious, filling, satisfying and perfect in every way. Check out the art installation of a super cool rock wall and get your selfie to prove you were there!! PRO TIP: try one of the suggested salads & do not forget to read the SALAD OF THE WEEK on a separate sign!!!

Andrew K.

Yelp
Had a delicious salad there on our last day in MV. The difference at MV Salads is in the ingredients, both selection and quality. I had smoked chicken salad on a bed of intensely flavorful arugula with black beans, generous cubes of cheese, and a tasty green goddess dressing. I also loved the general ambiance of the little shop. Cute details from succulents growing from the middle of our table to the spa water available at the beverage station add to the "kindness" vibe.

Janis S.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. My husband and I had a terrific salad wrap with lettuce tomato corn and dressing. Care was taken in making it and it's presentation They give you cornbread too! It's extremely clean and well run and we're glad we picked this place to have lunch!

Andrew S.

Yelp
Fantastic place for a salad and they get a lot of their ingredients from local growers which is really cool so you are supporting the local economy throughout the vineyard! The owner is super friendly and accommodating, you can tell she really appreciates your business when you walk in and they offer some free "spa" water which is nice. It has some lemons and possibly cucumbers in it and was nice and refreshing. The layout is very nice too of the shop with stools scattered around a larger counter area and a few other smaller tables and all the ingredients in the salad were fresh and tasty including some great cauliflower, beans and avocado! I did a make your own salad and really enjoyed it as I was able to pick four of my own ingredients which included an option for two of the following brown rice, arugula, quinoa mixed greens or kale I believe....the only downside and the reason I did not give five stars was the cost--it was over $18 for my salad with Avocado and for that price the salad should blow you away and be humongous but it was a decent but definitely not huge.

Kelly B.

Yelp
From a picky salad eater and health nut, I absolutely love this place - the owner, the staff, the fresh food, and the messages of kindness everywhere. When I visit the Vineyard annually, I make a sacred stop to get the lobster cobb salad. Who needs a lobster roll with boring bread and unhealthy fries when you can have lobster mixed with fresh herbs, a light citrus dressing, delicately made boiled eggs, and soft leafy greens. And the mini corn muffins are magical. The homemade beverages are not to be missed. They're delicious, zestful, and work well mix and match. The owner puts a lot of love into this place and we love her back. I am willing to pay for the price point because it's a welcoming, clean, healthy, and positive establishment.

Ned O.

Yelp
Great healthy salads ! Super clean . I built my own and added avocado as a premium. Not much else to say. They also have a gift shop.

alex r.

Yelp
Seriously the best salads I've ever had. I got the campground smokin chicken and the mermaid meadow summer. So fresh and delicious!!! Service was great too.

Neil T.

Yelp
Had a delicious Lobster Cobb salad the other day. Staff was delightful. The shop is classy and clean. Definitely someplace I will frequent whenever I'm on the island.

Yelp
How pleasantly surprised I was to see that MV Salads in Oak Bluff was not only open again, serving the incredible and delicious high quality food they became known for when they opened last year, but were back happily celebrating their second season in complete and may I say seemingly effortless compliance with all the various protocols that have been mandated to keep us all safe! If you have not had the fun, healthy "Salad Experience" that owner, Susanna and her wonderful MV Salads team are serving satisfied customers every day, you need to definitely come check it out before the season closes for the year. The dishes are tasty, unique and flavorful. The Menemsha Lobster Salad is spectacular and still tops my "favs" list, however the Mermaid Meadow Salad has been a godsend and the perfect tonic for this heat wave we're been enjoying these past few weeks. The Tivoli Cauliflower Salad is a new yum, also creeping up to the top of my favs list! But one of the real reasons I appreciate and delight in supporting MV Salads this season and every season is that I am ensured that when I do, I am supporting local farmers and purveyors. MV Salads prides itself in utilizing local ingredients whenever possible. All in all you can't go wrong with any of the convenient, mouth watering, fresh, crunchy, delectable offerings at MV Salads. They make it so easyee to order online and a joy to order in person.(www.mvsalads.com) Masks are required in the store, but that doesn't diminish those smiles that MV Salads is famous for! Accept one! They're free! MV Salads! Such a perfect addition to the local community, showcasing the best of Martha's Vineyard.

Yelp
I was staying in Oak Bluffs during a visit with friends and we wanted something healthy so we stopped into MV Salads. The esthetic of the shop is great; nice decor, good lighting and great items for sell. The downside is the price of the salads. I ordered the weekly salad and added protein. The salad was very refreshing, good portion size and it came with a mini cornbread-muffin. I also added a Lemo Line drink which was awesome. I'd definitely recommend it, but bring your wallet.

Alton M.

Yelp
A $30 salad? My tofu was burnt and me greens were slimey and wet. I would be taken aback for a $30 salad in NYC. It better have gold sprinkles on it for that price! For $30, I expected the best salad i've ever had in my life, not the worst. Thank god you don't have to tip here or else my heart would ache for the employees. I hope they are being paid handsomely because this is a joke of a business. $4 FOR FETA CHEESE?! Goodbye, MV Salads. Rest In Peace. Born 2019- Died 2019.

Jeanie B.

Yelp
We think the world of MV Salads and all that it stands for. Delicious, locally sourced food with a vibrant atmosphere and smiling staff - with a focus on kindness that is made clear with every detail. Not only did I love my lobster Cobb salad - but I bought some great looking MV gear! I am hooked!!

Dawn G.

Yelp
As someone who doesn't like salads nor writing reviews, I was blown away by MV Salads and just had to share a review for this place that is in its second year of business! We were looking for a good takeout place for a picnic on a nearby Martha's Vineyard beach. This restaurant caught my eye. First, the space is so pleasing. It drawed us off the hot street into an aesthetic oasis. The cool interior design paired with the absolutely delicious food offerings was a delight. Social distancing tools and hand sanitizer placement were carefully thought out. Sustainability & social justice through Kindness is also at the heart of this operation. Then, looking at the menu, you know you're in for a refreshing treat. You can choose from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. I chose the weekly special: mozzarella, plum tomato, cucumber & quinoa salad drizzled with a tongue-tantalizing dressing, paired with their wonderful house-brewed hibiscus-ginger tea. My husband had a MV BLT wrap with vegan Shitake mushroom and a house-brewed mint lime faux-jito. PHENOMINAL!!!! To top it off, there was tastefully branded apparel for sale, and I purchased a unique, high quality beach hoody which I love.

Marie T.

Yelp
I can't say enough great things about MV Salads! The restaurant is stunning, every worker radiates kindness, and the food is phenomenal. I don't know if my favorite was the campground chicken salad, the watermelon cooler, or their famous green goddess dressing. I'm still dreaming about that dressing! Very excited for my next trip back to the Vineyard - my first stop will definitely be MV Salads!

Yelp
Fantastic lunch! We had the Menemsha Lobster Cobb and Campground Smok'n Chicken salads. Super fresh. Large portions. Staff are friendly and engaging. Would highly recommend.

Geoff K.

Yelp
Had the lobster salad, and the cauliflower salad. Both were big, healthy, and good! Fresh ingredients, and lots of flavor packed in. Are them in the grassy lawn across the street. The perfect summer meal.

Mary F.

Yelp
This place is terrific! Made to order salads. Everything is fresh, Crisp and delicious. A little pricy but well worth it!

Sheenagh C.

Yelp
10 STARS! What a treat! Upon entering, the smells of fresh herbs & spices hits your nose. The decor is inviting & calming. Succulents line the family style tables in the center of the cafe. The open kitchen concept is fun & you can watch the employees preparing the fresh ingredients for the day. I ordered the Mermaid Meadow Summer salad. It was full of juicy watermelon, local feta cheese from Mermaid Farm, local radish from Milkweed Farm, crisp greens, cucumbers & the owner's homemade dressing! The addition of mint on top of the salad was amazing! I paired the salad with their homemade Mint Lime Faux-jito. Do this! I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner Susanna & Chef Russell. Most of their produce is locally sourced from island farmers & the entire concept stands on supporting the local community & the foundation of kindness. In times like these, we need more reminders to be kind to one another. There is a kindness box in the corner of the cafe, and kindness quotes, tile the bathroom. The staff was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable & above all, KIND! Martha's Vineyard is blessed to have an establishment like this, to add to our community. Consider me a regular!

Anika J.

Yelp
So we saw the coming soon sign last summer and were super excited! To be able to pick up a salad to carry to the beach everyday sounded divine! Here is my review: for 4 salads, our bill was right under $100....expected but still very expensive. The ingredients were interesting but some of us just wanted regular toppings as options, like onions or green peppers. Our main collective complaint was the salad dressing options. The specialty options were nice for the menu salads and were tasty but a clean vinaigrette would have been a nice alternative. In order for me to get a salad everyday (which was our plan), I wish their were more simple options along with the ones available and more dressings to choose from. Pros: protein portions were generous, nice atmosphere, friendly manager, my daughter liked the muffin Cons: price, dressing selection, needs more seating, better lettuce to toppings ratio. Overall, I think the idea of a salad place on Circuit Ave is genius! I hope that the owner takes the reviews to heart and makes the necessary changes to survive. We only ate here once this summer but hopefully we will have a better experience next summer.

Yelp
Great lunch spot. Healthy and creative salads! Very fresh and clean atmosphere and a few tables outside for dining. A must visit to get your greens fix while in MV!

Lisa K.

Yelp
Love this new addition!! I was surprised by the price of the salad at first but when I saw the size of it, it all made sense!! Not only was it absolutely delicious and so so fresh, it was enormous!!! Didn't feel heavy afterward tho. Highly recommend getting a salad to go, taking it to the shade by the tabernacle and enjoy!!! This is a new favorite lunch stop!

Laurie B.

Yelp
Great spot for a healthy lunch in Oak Bluffs! Fresh food and delicious flavor combinations. I have come here several times and sampled a variety of salads and all were delicious, love the free corn muffin they offer too! Highly recommend for both the food and courteous staff.

Yelp
Delicious, fresh and local. My only hesitation in becoming a more regular customer was that for $17, my salad wasn't as filling as I'd hoped. A new employee made it and it had noticeably less greens than others being made so it may be a training point and will improve. I had the one with watermelon (that she was very generous with) and feta. Agree with others that the dressing is delicious. The other person in my party had the $14 "crunch" salad and was very pleased and found it filling. Worth a premium price for local and quality greens, while other premiums seem overpriced, such as $3 to add a hard boiled egg or feta cheese. Hopefully they find a sweet spot as the addition of healthy salads is much appreciated! I'd love to see a range of options from maybe $12-20 instead of $14- high 20s, especially since most business is takeout. Best wishes for success! UPDATE: visited again today, 8/18. Salads were huge and very filling! Saving some for later, in fact. Our party had Tashmoo Crunch, Tivoli and Quinoa bowl and a special juice blend (watermelon and faux mojito). They've also added a weekly special for $10 (no substitutions) to provide another option . Try it!

Yelp
During my recent trip to Martha's Vineyard I visited MV salads twice. Myself and my family had truly the best salads we have ever had!! Their house made balsamic dressing, corn muffins and chipotle chicken were unbelievably amazing and not to mention the restaurant is just beautiful! All of the staff were so kind and accommodating to us taking the time to explain how the 'make your own' salad bar worked and what is in each dressing. If you are ever visiting Oak Bluffs you cannot leave without stopping into MV salads!!!

Pauline R.

Yelp
This restaurant scores for good intent. Supports local farms. Appreciated the paper straws & recycled products. Spacious and spotlessly clean with a few outdoor tables AND friendly service. If all you are serving is salad , and at rather steep prices then they should be knock your socks off salads. Ordered a cauliflower and a campfire salad . Both salads were almost identical . The main difference was one had cauliflower and the campfire salad that was supposed to have , (I believe the description was 'smoky beans' ) , but in fact there was a total of only 5 isolated black looking beans. I thought the salads were odd. And oddly unseasonable for being locally sourced. The bulk of salad was fresh young kale greens and red cabbage. The cabbage was fresh but.....cut so thick and there was A LOT of it. There's a good reason why thinly sliced cole slaws are so popular. Easier to eat! I love cabbage but to eat raw it must be thin sliced -grated or diced small into bite size pieces otherwise it's a slog to get through ! There were some nicely soaked grapes which made them good and juicy but why then add handfuls of more grapes in the form of golden raisins? Next was a cup or more ( or so it seemed ) of crunchy roasted chickpeas. A sprinkling would have been ample. Again a lot of crunching. The cauliflower florets were so large they had to be tackled by hand. Cauliflower absorbs flavors beautifully . Sadly these florets had not been roasted or marinated in anything memorable. It's summer , farm stands are bursting with tomatoes, cukes, peppers, corn , eggplant ...We'll be eating plenty of Brassicas well into the fall. Staffing did not seem a problem. Someone needs to get behind this menu and make each and every salad a signature piece. Otherwise I it will be very difficult to sustain this menu beyond the summer months. Given the fresh produce , I think most of us can put together a pretty decent salad . In order to make salads your main attraction you've got to kick it up a few notches . I'm only reviewing this because.....the good intent is there and the town could do with some lighter healthier dining options .This operation just needs some tweaking in the kitchen to get it where it needs to be.

Nikolette B.

Yelp
Loved everything about this place!! The salads were fresh and creative. The drinks were lusciously fruity. Little succulent plants grow in rocky streams down the middle of the long tables!! Definitely worth checking out!

lisa w.

Yelp
Love love love this place! It opened last season with lines out the door and extended crazy hours to meet the demand. Not only is MV Salads unique to OB, pretty much the only place you can get a healthy fresh meal, but, everything is sooo good and you can get it to go and have a picnic or eat on their lovely orange tables outside. Salad options are pretty much whatever your tummy desires and homemade dressing are delicious! Service is by order of the owner, always served with KINDNESS! No one works there if they aren't kind at heart. It's a bright and happy place deserving of the island. MV Salads also #supportsblackbusiness they have cute home decor vases and things by Objects & Accents which is a female and black owned business. Highly recommend the lobster salad, generous lumps of fresh lobster!

Stephanie T.

Yelp
This place is way too expensive for the average consumer. $64 for 3 salads is not economical. Unfortunately, the business hasn't made it's mind up on if it wants to be a clothing store or a restaurant. There is very limited seating to eat your $21 salad. They also grow succulents in the middle of the dining tables, which attracts insects. If I wanted the experience of eating outdoors, I would have eaten outdoors. The worst part was having the owner shout rather loudly to one of her employees asking if we had paid for our meal (which we had). Clearly, this business owner is not trying to stay in business and has other means of income.

Srey R.

Yelp
I love the idea of a place like this in OB. It's quick and the light fare was appealing to me. The design/decor is beautiful and simple. Their signage outside doesn't match the interior design, but I'm just a picky designer. Ha. I really want to give this place 5-stars, but it fell short in a few places. First off, the prices! OH.MY.GOODNESS!!!! I can get the same salad at Sweetgreen for half the price in the Seaport area of Boston...which I get at least once a week during my work week. I know we're supporting local small business and farms, but holy cow, my salad was the price of an entree in a sit down restaurant here on the island. My salad was fresh and the chicken was cooked just right for a salad, but the dressing was just okay. Seem like it needed more salt perhaps...and / or garlic...I don't know. I wasn't blown away by everything together. The complementary corn muffin tasted like a boxed recipe. Not an amazing place. There's certainly room for improvement, but there's lot of potential as well.

Avari L.

Yelp
My salad was pretty good, but it was so expensive!!!! The portions a big which is good since they cost a lot. So I would split a salad next time.

Virginia S.

Yelp
Salad was amazing! Loved the ambiance of the whole place, and everyone was very friendly. Green goddess dressing is the way to go for sure. Will definitely come back again!

Brad W.

Yelp
One of the best salads I've had...super fresh ingredients and friendly staff. Unlike many stores and restaurants, they are handling the pandemic very well with masks and hand sanitizer available for customers when they walk in. Most criticisms come from a more expensive salad, but people have to take into account that they are on an island and are getting the freshest ingredients from local farms. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Josh M.

Yelp
What a gem of an addition to the Oak Bluffs food scene. Needed a break from all the fried food we were eating and MV Salads was the perfect find. Think SweetGreen but more local and even fresher tasting ingredients. The salads are not cheap, but you really get what you are paying for and are supporting the local farms on the island. The staff are also super nice. Add to all of this that the ownership of the restaurant seems to be taking Covid very seriously with the precautions that are in place. Make stopping for a bite here a priority...and get the shitake mushrooms!

Morgan B.

Yelp
I love it here. The island needed this beautiful salad spot. Every ingredient is so fresh and you can tell they care so much about their customers. I have allergies so I get nervous about salad bars but this place is so clean and the staff was extremely accommodating. I crave the MV BLT. I will 100% be back!

Kendra S.

Yelp
Do not waste your time or money. I was reluctant to spend $25 on a salad but was running to catch the ferry and needed something healthy and quick to pick up on the way. I got stuck in ferry traffic and called to cancel because I wouldn't be able to make my reservation if I went to get the salad first. I was met with attitude and asked if there was any way I could get there because they couldn't cancel it, provide a refund, or give me any kind of a credit on a future order. When I said I couldn't the woman hung up on me. Terrible service and I was out $25 on an overpriced salad. Don't bother. There are too many other great restaurants with better service. And for less money you can get a steamed lobster at Net Result or Larsen's.

Astoria E.

Yelp
The salads are fantastic, and it's so nice to be able to get filling, delicious, healthy, locally grown food in Oak Bluffs. I don't mind the price if it means the ingredients come from our Island farms. I'd eat here every day; the Meadow Salad is delicious

Jane K.

Yelp
Yes, my lobster cobb salad was $29 BUT there was a generous portion of lobster and other yummy ingredients. I couldn't finish the entire salad for dinner. The staff was great . We will definitely return!

Katie M.

Yelp
good salad however, way overpriced, of course this is how a lot of things are on the island. They source from local farmers, so it's helping the island but still very overpriced. Perhaps if there were less workers standing around at an unbusy shift then they'd save some money there.
