The Best New Restaurants in D.C., July 2025 | Eater DC

"Green Almond Pantry, James Beard-nominated chef Cagla Onal’s longstanding staple for fluffy focaccia, chocolate cake, and Turkish-Mediterranean dishes for lunch and takeout, added a next-door sibling spot for sit-down dinner service. Nestled in a Georgetown alley, My Little Chamomile showcases a quick list of wines, meze, and other comfort foods like Onal’s mom used to make. The 42-seat newcomer outfitted with a pretty walnut-and-brass bar offers an assortment of salads, smoked eggplant, artichokes filled with herb rice, and lavash designed for dipping." - Eater Staff

Nestled in the charming streets of Georgetown, My Little Chamomile is a well-kept secret for anyone in search of an exceptional Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. From the inviting ambiance, amazing service and great dishes this is definitely a must visit in DC! It is quite literally a hidden gem, so I have included the map we used to find the restaurant!

This new, hidden gem is a refreshing experience for the otherwise overrun Georgetown dining establishments elsewhere. Hidden down a lantern-lit alleyway is this minimalist dining room where the hospitality and service is top-notch. The Turkish-mezze menu is simple, focusing on layered and surprising flavor. We had an array of shareables--from endless homemade sesame breads, lebneh in bright, herby flavors (that I have not quite experienced from other chefs), smoky eggplant, a dill and pomegranate salad, and a not-to-miss vegan lentil soup that was perfectly creamy with a hint of citrus. More surprising were the desserts: understated on the menu, they were subtly sweet and equally decadent, just the kind I adore. We loved our experience and would highly recommend this well-priced dining room. The biggest bonus of all are the gracious hosts, whose smiles, passion, and welcoming presence is most authentic, and was perhaps the best part of the entire evening.

Such a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Çağla created a space and menu that feels very much like she’s somehow transported you into her home. Every member of the team we engaged with was kind, welcoming, and knew the menu front and back. We tried multiple of the small plates, the whole branzino, and both of the dessert options. All were delicious. My favorite small plate was either the lamb or the manta. We’ve always loved the branzino at Green Almond Pantry, and the version here is obviously just as great. Both desserts were tasty, but the tel kadayif really shined. We’re so happy to have My Little Chamomile.

Cozy, authentic restaurant serving traditional Turkish cuisine with a homey touch. The dishes are simple yet full of flavor, truly capturing the essence of Turkish home cooking. We tried the kabak çiçeği dolması, dedemin biberi, mantı, and hünkar beğendi. The dolma was beautifully spiced and absolutely delicious. Dedemin biberi may look simple, but one bite delivers a burst of flavors — tangy, spicy, savory, and slightly sweet all at once. The mantı was impressively light, with delicately thin dough. And the hünkar beğendi was the highlight of the meal — the eggplant base was rich, deeply flavorful, and clearly made in-house with care. A perfect spot for a cozy date night, a relaxed gathering with friends, or introducing someone to the wonderful flavors of Turkish cuisine.

This place is awesome. The excellent Turkish cuisine is only surpassed by the super-friendly staff. Be sure to try the lamb skewers and the manti. Directions tip: it's kind of tucked away down an alley, so be sure to follow the signs.

My partner and I had a wonderful meal at this place. Food was excellent. Everything we ate was very good. The service was outstanding. The waitresses were polite, not overly friendly to the point of being annoying but I could tell they enjoyed serving the customers. Overall we plan to return soon.

The food is amazing! Healthy, fresh and made with a lot of love. I ordered one of everything on the menu so I could try everything. There wasn’t a single dish that I didn’t love. My favorite dish though was the lamb kabobs (we ordered 3 of them and I forgot to take a picture - sorry). If I lived in DC, I would eat here 2-3 times a week. Not sure if the wine list is so limited because it’s their first week open, but the white / orange wine that said OKR was really good. It has nice acidity which paired well with the food. I can’t wait to go back!

Great Mediterranean food. Cute restaurant. Welcoming staff. Went back again a couple weeks later, tried more dishes and they were great too. Whole branzino and lamb kebabs were the highlights.

Yelp
We've loved Green Almond Pantry for years, and were so excited when My Little Chamomile opened up. The food at Chamomile is just as delicious, but even more refined. Every single dish on the menu is a winner. The staff here are also fantastic. Everyone has been both kind and well informed of the menu. We love it here and are so happy to have Cagla in the neighborhood.

Yelp
I'm a longtime Green Almond Pantry fan, so I was thrilled to try My Little Chamomile. The moment we walked up to the restaurant we were greeted by a friendly little cat, which made us feel like we had been transported back to Turkey. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted with a beautiful, clean, yet warm and welcoming atmosphere. The star of the show, of course, was the food. We ordered nearly every vegetarian dish on the menu and were delighted by each one. I dined with my dad and sister and between the three of us, each had our own favorite dishes. I adored the artichoke and my dinner here led me to make artichoke at home for several days following this meal. My sister loved the labneh and my dad adored the eggplant dish, but you can't go wrong with anything you choose. Each bite felt fresh, nourishing, and delicious. The servers were incredibly attentive and thoughtful, answering all of our questions and making sure our needs were met. Also, definitely don't skip out on dessert. We shared the chocolate pistachio slice and were delighted to indulge in the rich dark chocolate paired with an unsweetened but fresh cream. Since the restaurant focuses on fresh and seasonal ingredients, I can't speak more specifically to the menu, but based on my first meal there, I'll definitely be frequenting this restaurant. The Green Almond Pantry team has knocked it out of the park with this one and I'm so happy to see this passion project being so successful!

Yelp
Super cute, stylish, and they were so kind to us when there was some confusion surrounding the reservation. At first I was nervous because the portions were TINY, but the food was so delicious. And surprisingly, even though we ordered doubles on some things (for example, a meat dumpling dish that looked like it was made for a dolls' tea set), and we got a $60 branzino dish to share, the bill was reasonable for Georgetown. The chef is clearly gifted, but I'm not clear why the portions are so minuscule. It's a five-star place anyway, though, because of the ambiance, the nice staff, and the lovely food. Next time I'll go in knowing to order more than I think I'll want. Just one tip for the owners. GET SOME NOISE REDUCTION GEAR, please!!! You can buy it cheaply (https://www.amazon.com/Soundproofing-Acoustic-Studio-Foam-Panels/dp/B06XRJX82F?th=1) and put it up around the room, especially focusing on corners, and big, blank walls. Either that or hang quilts. The noise level is ridiculous, but I still really like this place and want it to thrive. Go! Take your friends. Have a great time.

Yelp
I've come here for both brunch and dinner, and both menus are fantastic. The food is so fresh and light. We ordered *almost* everything on the menu, and loved it all. We got the whole branzino during dinner, it was simple but delicious. The lamb skewers were great. My favorite dish was the Anaheim peppers with vinegar, I LOVED it. We did the same for brunch and ordered almost the whole menu. Again, no regrets. The tomato tart was fantastic. We had the butter and jam for dessert, so good. Steak and eggs were cooked to perfection. My Little Chamomile is my new favorite restaurant.

Yelp
Chef Cagla's cooking comes with love. Every dish is created with care, thought, and is well executed. If you're a fan of Green Almond Pantry in Georgetown, you'll enjoy My Little Chamomile, a restaurant tucked away in an alley serving dishes inspired by the Mediterranean. My friend and I made a 7:30pm reservation on a Thursday. Here's our experience. 1) Food: As of March 2025, the menu includes eight daily specials, five items from "Mom's Kitchen," two larger plates from the grill, and two desserts. My friend and I were coming from happy hour so we weren't super hungry, but the plates tend to be smaller so what we ordered was perfect. Every dish was well-made and tasty, but the winners were the Girit Ezmesi (feta, labneh, goat cheese, and pistachio) with the house bread and the manti, which are small, but each one unique and handmade. The pepper and artichoke were good too, but not as flavorful as the other two dishes. For dessert, the chocolate is big and comes with pistachios baked into it with delicious whipped cream on top. 2) Service: What a great experience! The host and server made us feel like family. They are genuinely passionate about the chef's cooking and their energy is contagious. 3) Space: It's one dining room with a few tables that sit two or four and a large bar. It wasn't full when we arrived early around 7pm, but by 8pm, it was packed. 4) Neighborhood: There's a lot to explore in Georgetown, especially this part of the neighborhood. Parking is always a challenge, but we found easy street parking nearby along Potomac Street NW.

Yelp
This hidden gem is tucked inside a Georgetown alleyway. Follow the cobblestones and look for the My Little Chamomile sign - otherwise, you might miss it! The Turkish restaurant and bar was opened by Chef Cagla, formerly of the Green Almond Pantry and Etto. They used Kickstarter to bring their vision to life, and I'm glad it's come to fruition! (it's the little chamomile that could!) It's an adorable space that feels cozy and like you're eating at someone's home! The servers emphasized that this is meant to feel like "mom's cooking." All the dishes are Mediterranean-style, veggie-forward, simple, clean and light - it feels so nourishing and good for you! My friend and I came here on a whim one weeknight. All the tables were booked on Open Table, but they still had a handful of walk-in seats open at the bar. Score! We ordered: Girit Ezmesi - a labneh starter dip with goat cheese and pistachio. The pistachio gave it a grittier texture, but it was still a tasty vehicle for their fresh bread. Manti - This was a surprise favorite! Order this dish! It's beef dumplings with a light yogurt sauce. I wasn't sure about the combo, but it was spiced perfectly with a delicate, al dente dumpling skin. Yum! Lentil soup with buttery croutons - Delicious and also nourishing. Hunkar Begendi - lamb with smokey eggplant. The lamb was dry and hard to chew. The eggplant was a little one-note with not much flavor, except for the smokiness. This is the only dish that gave me pause. Enginar Dolmasi - we ordered this, but they forgot to serve it. I totally got caught up talking with my friend, so didn't notice until the end of the night! sad, will have to come back for it! this was the dish I was most looking forward to trying (and not sure if they charged me for it, doh!) For dessert, we ordered the Tel Kadayik - which is phyllo with walnuts in a sweet syrup. Can't go wrong with this one. I'll be back when the menu changes again. Overall, this is a warm, welcoming spot that feels like sunshine. I'll have to see if the other main meat options are better than the one we chose.

Yelp
cute restaurant tucked in georgetown, by the same chef as my favorite green almond pantry came in with really high expectations and while some of the dishes were great (the smoked eggplant and the peppers), i was disappointed by the meat dishes.

Yelp
This is a super lovely restaurant, tucked away in an alley in a cozy spot. They were very accommodating when we had to change our party size. We had Girit Ezmesi (the pistachios added a great touch), eggplant salad, hunkar begendi, and manti. we all especially loved the hunkar begendi, and the manti was definitely the star of the night. Two of these dishes came with a side of fluffy, light, focaccia-like bread. So by the end, we were so full--just the two of us with these dishes--that we couldn't finish them. We also had their house wine by the glass. The service was great --our server was super lovely. We'll definitely come back and bring more of our friends next time!

Yelp
Can't say enough great things about MLC. Food is fantastic. It is IMHO the best Turkish restaurant in the area. The owner and staff are all so lovely, which makes the experience so great. I felt transported to Türkiye.

Yelp
The host man at the front was rude. We came first, had reservations, and asked if we can sit by the window. The host ignored us and gave the table to someone came later than us and they also asked for that different table. The manager was unapologetic. He doesn't know how to run a restaurant

Yelp
The food was delicious and so fresh. The service was excellent. We felt like we were in the chefs kitchen

Yelp
Thrilled to have My Little Chamomile as our new downstairs neighbor--it's a cozy, welcoming spot that feels like an instant classic. As a huge fan of Green Almond Pantry, I was excited to see familiar Turkish flavors with their own twist. The lentil soup, labneh, and pomegranate-herb salad were all standouts. Desserts are quietly amazing, and the house bread is dangerously good. We're lucky to have them in the building.
