How the Next Generation of Restaurant Owners Will Preserve Koreatown | Eater LA

"Having rebranded Myong Dong Kyoja into MDK Noodles, Stella Shin and her cousins took over the Koreatown noodle institution (their father opened the original location in 2002 and another in Anaheim in 2007) and emphasize that everything is made in-house fresh daily; Stella admits older customers expect cheap noodles but says she’s had to educate diners on higher costs, and delivery apps have helped sustain business as MDK plans further expansion, including a future Austin location." - Matthew Kang

Can TikTok Help Restaurants Succeed? It's Complicated | Bon Appétit

"A Korean noodle and dumpling chain with locations in Los Angeles, Anaheim and Houston that had been selling dalgona candy for at least a year before the dessert became a global TikTok craze following a hit TV show. The viral moment sent monthly dalgona sales at a single location from a few dozen to as many as 500, though demand later tapered to roughly 150–200 pieces a month, and management says the attention both surprised them and was difficult to fully capitalize on." - ByMaggie Hennessy

One of the best parts of this visit was the service. The staff were very quick and friendly, which definitely deserves high praise. However, compared to before, the food portion and taste didn’t seem to improve. Since the broth was chicken-based, it had a slight chicken smell that I didn’t really enjoy. Also, the noodles were not handmade, and the extra $5 charge felt too expensive. After finishing the meal, the portion still felt a bit small, which was disappointing. In the end, restaurants that serve generous portions tend to do well, and I wish this place would consider that. At least they gave a small bowl of rice for free, which made me feel a little less hungry.

Google
Honestly, I feel that Myeongdong Kyoja tastes a hundred times better here in the U.S. than at the original Seoul location. It’s so delicious that I could eat it every day! The service is excellent, everything is super clean and well-organized, and the food feels fresh and refined. I truly wish we had one in my neighborhood—that would be a dream come true.

Google
This place is sooo good! We ordered the spicy noodle, which I think is number 12 on the menu, the pork and shrimp pork shrimp, and the beef galbi. We’ll definitely keep ordering these on future visits because they balance carbs and protein—there are lots of noodles but almost no protein besides half an egg. So if you’re a gym guy like me, that’s something to consider. One thing I want to call out is the kimchi—it’s sooooo fireeee! My family, who visited South Korea, said this kimchi is almost as good as the original kimchi there. Plus, this place isn’t crowded yet, unlike many other restaurants, so we didn’t have to wait. The price is also very affordable, around $20–30 per person.

We normally eat regular Knife-cut Noodle but tried Hot Stone Bibimbab and Knife-cut Noodle in Anchovy Broth. The food was good and the service was excellent.

Google
As a Korean I have a tip: When you sit down and right away they bring out this type of red saucy kimchi? You’ve come to the right place. Mad good kalguksoo and dumplings.

Google
I had a pleasure to eat it as much as it used to spare the ingredients, and I had a lot of good taste, and I was disappointed in bad materials when I had been in a few days. Don't spare the ingredients.

Google
A Korean knife-cut noodle chain with great portions. The star, knife-cut noodles, are best displayed in the bibim-kalguksu. These mixed cold noodles are spicy, rich in fishy, fermented, garlic flavor and have a hint of sesame. The steamed pork and shrimp dumplings are also amazing. They have a springy texture, thin skin, and a nice bite. The fried mandu were great with a flavorful chive and pork flavor. They are also nice in the mandu-guk, which can come with perfectly chewy and thin tteok (rice cakes). The soup base that comes with the previous dish and kalguksu, however, could be better. There is not enough umami or deep flavor. Although, the ground chicken topping option is tender and well seasoned. The complimentary kimchi is generous, but the flavor was not exactly to our liking. Overall, there is a lot of variety offered here, especially if you're looking for satisfying and comforting Korean food.

We came here for the first time!! It was a good Korean restaurant in the area! We got handful of orders and they were all delicious! Bibimpap, cold noodles, Korean noodles and unlimited amount of delicious kimchi! We had a delightful time for sure! Love to be back here again! Keep up with the good work! Cheers 🥂

Yelp
We first had MDK Noodle in South Korea, Myeong Dong, the M and the D to MDK. We loved it there and we definitely loved it here!! There were much more varieties here in the US but we tried to stick with what we got in Korea to have a comparison. The knife cut noodle in broth soup was pretty standard and tasted great. Our table also got the spicy version of this, which i liked a bit more. The pork dumplings were surprisingly better here in the US. Probably the way they steamed it. The cold noodles was the tricky one. I didn't see this many selection in Korea, but there were several cold cut spicy noodles and variants here. Wow...so we went with a dish with green noodle and spicy sauce, i think its the arrowroot in spicy sauce without any addons. Either way, it tasted great. Service was quick and to the point. A simple restaurant with simple decor. They say a lot more through their food.

Yelp
- easy parking - spacious seating - quick and efficient service 1. Pork Dumplings 10/10 - tastes just like the ones I've had in Korea - so juicy and flavorful 2. Knife cut noodles in Chicken broth 8/10 - noodles were perfect, chewy with a great bite - broth was comforting but could have used a little more flavor, I'll probably try the spicy one next time

Yelp
Came for dinner and the place was popping. I'm assuming a lot of people that come here know exactly what menu item they wanted because the staff kept coming back to take our orders immediately haha I wanted some dry noodles so I opted for the Spicy Chewy Noodle. I've never had this dish before so I was surprised when my first bite was cold. Very refreshing! I would say that the noodles got me full from a couple bites, overall it was pretty spicy. I'm not sure if there were deeper flavors than that though. This may be controversial but I wasn't a fan of the kimchi. It was very bitter to me. I did like the other pickled cabbages served to us, very refreshing. A nice touch though is that on the side of the tables, there's a drawer for utensils and napkins! Never seen that before! Do wish the staff would've told us initially beforehand because we were confused where they were. Since I love Korean food, I would wanna come here again to try the other menu items, perhaps other dishes would be more suited for my taste.

Yelp
It was warmer when we wanted to grab lunch and what better way to beat the heat than ordering cold noodles. It was my second time ever having cold noodles and this was so good and hit the spot. Their dumplings are so fresh and packed with so much meat and have a thin wrapper. You know this place is good when you see Korean people eating here alone during lunch. They have only two side dishes, definitely keeping it simple. Our food only took a few minutes after ordering. ig: @cravingswithcat

Yelp
When I'm craving hot noodles, this is my go to place. I love their noodles in chicken broth. I've tried the spicy one but I like the original better. I've also tried some of their other dishes. Some were good and some were a miss. dongchimi with white noodles was good. It normally comes with green noodles but got it replaced with white noodles. It's refreshing and tasty. I did not like the spicy nengmyun. The best thing here is the kimchi that they give. There are white and the red kimchi and both are super good. There is someone going around just to refill kimchi for ppl. They remodeled so the place looks more open and bright. There's a good number of tables but when we went on a Sunday early afternoon the tables filled up.

Yelp
A friend recommended this spot for good Korean noodles! Some friends and I arrived for dinner on a Saturday around 5:00. It wasn't crowded at all, and we were seated immediately. By the time we left around 6:30, the restaurant was a lot more full. I ordered the Cold Kimchi Green Chlorella Noodle Soup. The noodles are a vibrant green color! There is also cucumber, kimchi, egg, and red onions in it. The noodles are pretty long, so they give you a pair of scissors to cut them. The flavor isn't too strong, so you can add your own sauce condiments provided on the table if you'd like a little more flavor. Overall, this is a very refreshing dish! I tried some of the Knife Cut Noodles in Chicken Broth as well. In contrast, this is a very hot dish (and stays hot throughout the meal)! They give a dish of kimchi to each person and non-spicy kimchi for each two people. The regular kimchi is on the spicier side. There is ground chicken on top, along with dumplings and some vegetables. This noodle soup was very comforting! They also have a Cold Soybean Green Chlorella Noodles Soup that I'm definitely going to try the next time I come!

Yelp
MDK is a big let down of a restaurant. the food was very underwhelming and for the same price, there are plenty of other quality restaurants ~Food~ pork dumplings 6/10 pork was a bit smelly and chewy knife cut noodle in spicy broth 8/10 noodles were overcooked but broth was flavorful and spicy cold noodles 5/10 very basic cold noodles, underwhelming ~Service: 7/10 quick but not very friendly ~Cost: $17.99 per entree ~Parking: plenty of plaza parking available

Yelp
Definitely a staple Korean comfort food in Orange County, serving delicious kalgooksoo which means knife cut noodles. It is prepared in a hearty chicken broth which warms you to your soul, perfectly complimented by their garlicky unfermented kimchi. The pork dumplings are also juicy and delicious with their soy sauce concoction. The ambiance is bright and casual and their service is attentive and fast. Being a faster service, casual dining Korean restaurant, don't be afraid to throw a hand up and wave for service if you need anything.

Yelp
If you like knife cut noodles this is the place for you. It's freshly made with a nice chewy texture. The broth is flavorful and they give you freshly made kimchi as sides. The kimchi from this place is great! I definitely am glad that you could buy it in bulk to go! Definitely worth the trip to try the dumplings as well! They are loaded with filling! We opted for the pork and shrimp and they were juicy and flavorful. Kimchi pancake was a little salty but filled with a lot of veggies. Service was good. They were quick to seat us both times I went which was on a weekend during lunch and dinner times. The side dishes of kimchi are brought to your table shortly after you order and they offered us refills, if you happen to run out. Will definitely be back to try the other dishes on the menu. The interior recently got renovated not too long ago. So there are more tables now and it has more of a modern feel when before it was a more traditional Korean style restaurant. The plaza is kind of dead, so parking wasn't an issue. It's also a relatively big lot.

Yelp
I was missing Korea and my first visit to MDK did not disappoint!!! Located in a rather random shopping center next to a Seafood City Market, MDK is a no frills restaurant. Expectations were high, as this is a branch of the famous chain in Korea... When we walked in we were a bit surprised to enter a large space filled with tables. It almost felt cafeteria like- literally very sparse deco and rows of tables lined up side by side and in rows. But on a Sunday at lunchtime, it was a full house as people kept coming in and leaving. Service was friendly and efficient. A testament to this truly being a KOREAN restaurant, utensils are hidden from site by sliding out a side drawer from under the edge of the table. The most popular items here are the Kalguksu and Mandu. They also have several other offerings like bibimbap, but since bibimnaengmyeon is my favorite I ordered that. While we waited we noticed two different Grandmas at two different tables pulling Tupperware out of their purses and taking home their kimchi banchans (lol)! Once I took a bite of mine I stopped laughing AB's investors why they did that- their Kimchi is really good!!! They sell it, so you can take some home with you! So there are lots of receipts that say it's not as good as Korea, which I get but feel is kinda unfair. The kalguksu here is still aeons above a majority of restaurants here in SoCal. The one thing I couldn't get over is the fact that 'kalguksu' is supposed to be 'knife cut noodles'. That is, noodles that are slightly thick and not uniform in size- the noodles here are perfectly cut to an odd with smaller than udon noodles and just not what you're expecting. It would be like ordering tagliatelle pasta and getting linguine noodles instead. However, if you can get past that the actual quality and texture of the noodles was great! The shrimp and pork steamed dumplings were delicious! Perfectly paired with vinegar and soy sauce, we ended up eating them all! And my spicy cold noodles were the best I've had in California! MDK definitely met my expectations and I will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
MDK Noodles is pure comfort in a bowl. My family and I aboslutely love this place!!! The Ground Chicken Noodles and Pork Dumplings are phenomenal and they disappear fast. The Knife Cut Noodles in Spicy Chicken Broth are also top notch --sooooo deeply satisfying. I also fully admit to inhaling all the banchan before the meal even starts. No regrets. The service is fast. And the ambiance is no-nonsense, no frills...which is really all you need in a place that focuses on simple yet soulful food. If you're craving something that soothes and heals you from the inside out, gotta go to MDK. Just do it!

Yelp
Korean hand cut noodles. Don't sleep on the dumplings! Kimchi has bit more heat than most other places. Quick and efficient service.

Yelp
Craved this place so I went the next week! This time we had the shrimp and pork dumplings (I prefer the pork) and got the kalguksu. I loved the broth of the kalguksu but prefer noodles that are a bit chewier! Pork dumplings will definitely be my go to order here Service was consistently fast and place continues to be clean and spacious! Great ac hehe

Yelp
3.5 stars but rounding up due to a surprising lack of decent kalguksu options in the OC. MDK is one of the better ones but to be honest this spot reminds me very little of the OG one in Ktown minus the very garlicky kimchi which is 100% on point. Having tried a few of the noodle dishes here the clear favorite is the knife cut noods in anchovy broth. The spicy jeolmyun I like as well, but it was/is overly sauced with the red pepper paste. Dongchimi kooksu is a pass for me. The dumplings are surprisingly yummy here though a bit small. Service is well, lacking at times but what else is new for OC Korean restaurants. All in all, I like MDK for what it is but it's nothing like the OG one. So temper your expectations and slurp slurp away!
google avatar

Yelp
3rd time here.... Still consistently yummy. Ordered Bibim guksu & dolsot bulgogi bibimbab. Both are so good. I like how they used a wider surface dolsot (hot stone pot), that way a lot more rice will crisp up. Their kimchi is so delicious too. I always buy a container to take home. Staff were attentive and fast. Will keep coming back.

Yelp
We came here for the first time!! It was a good Korean restaurant in the area! We got handful of orders and they were all delicious! Yelp
I've had the MDK in Seoul and have been craving it since we came back! I finally found a reason to come down here and so glad it lived up to my expectations. Parking is ample, the restaurant is located at an industrial complex. Quite an interesting location. There are also plenty of tables. I came here on a random Thursday and there were families on summer break as well as office workers catching a quick bite. My friend and I shared their knife cut noodles (#1) and their pork and shrimp dumplings (#27 or 28). Both were so amazing! I loved the steam dumplings and felt it was as good as when I had it in seoul. Im glad to have finally tried it and that they've kept up their quality. Im going to have to find another reason to come back!
google avatar

Anusha B.

Yelp
I really liked the food here and always have this place in the back of my head! I like that their Kalguksu is made in chicken broth since a lot of Korean spots tend to focus on beef broth. The portion is huge and definitely enough for two people to share. The spicy kalguksu is especially perfect in cold weather or on a rainy day. There kimchi is some of my favorite I've ever tried and sometimes I want to come here only for that! The only downside is that the servers do tend to more Korean people and they tend to ignore you a little bit if you're not Korean. This is one of the biggest reasons that keeps me from going here.

Yelp
Authentic Korean food with terrific service, and lots of spacious seating. Plenty of parking.
google avatar

Yelp
Great Korean food. The seafood pancake was very good. Their steam dumpling were tasty and flavorful. The Korean stone pot rice was terrific, adding the soy sauce and sesame oil provided great flavor. The inside is very spaced and the staff members are very friendly

Yelp
My go to place for the kalguksu for the past 10 years. We got the original kalguksu which is the chicken noodle soup. You can order extra noodles for $5. We wanted more dumplings so my table just ordered one noodle to share and one of each dumplings. It more than enough food for 2. Had a few of dumplings to togo for later. I recommend the shrimp/pork dumplings over the just pork ones. The only down part was the kimchi. It's hard not to compare since I've been going here for so long but I felt like the quality of the kimchi wasn't able good as a few years ago.
google avatar

Ginger P.

Yelp
I used to eat at Myeongdong Kyoja often in my childhood, so I returned after over 10 years to enjoy some kalguksu again. My husband and I each got kalguksu with chicken broth and an order of pork dumplings. The kalguksu broth is thick and comforting, and the portion size is pretty generous. There are a lot of noodles, some minced seasoned meat, and dumplings. The kimchi is very garlicky and a little spicier than a lot of other places make their kimchi. It's so good. I also like the white kimchi. They come around often asking if you need a refill. The pork dumplings are juicy. I use 1 part soy sauce to 3 parts vinegar provided at the table to make a dipping sauce. I was satisfied with the nostalgic flavor, clean environment, and hospitable service.

Yelp
I had a very disappointing experience here. After being seated, we waited over 20 minutes without receiving even basic service. No water, no side dishes, and no one came to take our order. The worst part was the complete lack of customer care. Staff walked by multiple times without acknowledging us, and it felt like customers were being ignored entirely. Even a busy restaurant should be able to communicate or provide basic courtesy. Food aside, service is a big part of the dining experience, and unfortunately this place failed badly in that area. I would not return unless the service significantly improves.
google avatar

Kit T.

Yelp
The kimchi is spicy. The food was good . My best dish is the beef bugolgi. The pan fried dumplings are small like tokens. The pork & shrimp one was not bad. The seafood pancake was filled with squid? I think it's what l chewed on. Service was nice. The downside is its poorly lit parking lot at night. But other than that, it looks like they are new and will probably need some improvements on interior decoration. It's plain with clean floors
google avatar

Yelp
I heard that MDK noodles is as close as you can get to authentic kalguksu in the states. There is plenty of seating inside so even though I came on a Sunday during dinner I was seated right away. The server brought over complimentary plates of red and white kimchi as soon as we were seated. The red kimchi is very garlicky and fresh; just like how I like it. The white kimchi wasn't too vinegary and very lightly pickled. I like the variety and it's a nice break between bites of your main entree. I got the kalguksu with anchovy broth which came with lots of wood ear mushrooms, some slices and carrots, zucchini, and onion. It's a huge bowl of noodles and will definitely fill you up. The broth so so thick but subtly sweet and savory. I didn't try the kalguksu in spicy chicken broth but I believe it comes with ground beef on top. The pork bulgogi had a lot of onions in it (like half of the dish) so beware if aren't the biggest fan of onions. There was always a server walking around with a cart to refill your water or kimchi at all times. I would love to come back to give the cold noodles a try!
google avatar

Joanne L.

Yelp
Location: My dad said this was a popular Kalguksu (knife cut noodles) restaurant that opened a new location near us. It's in a bit of a dead plaza but still pretty easy to find. It wasnt crowded, even on a weekend night, so we were immediately seated. Service: Good service with attentive staff who helped us quickly whenever we called them over. Food: The food was overall great and met exactly what we were expecting. The cold noodles were very refreshing. My favorite dish was their kalguksu which had very chewy noodles. They make their dumplings in house so the dumplings were also great, my favorite one being their shrimp and pork. Thin, chewy skin! They are also known for their kimchi, which they sell larger batches of. It was very fresh and paired so well with everything. I wish I could take the leftover complimentary kimchi home, but understandably, you aren't allowed to (since they sell it separately). They still happily refill the kimchi while you are eating, though.
google avatar

Patricia L.

Yelp
Sometimes all you need is some good knife-cut noodles and dumplings to make your day. I like that this spot has plenty of seating and room for high-chairs when we're out eating with our kids. While the menu has other items, this spot is known for their knife-cut noodles and their dumplings. I like their chicken kalguksu or spicy kalguksu better than their clam one. While their clam one is good and has a good umami, the flavors are a lot more delicate and subtle, while the chicken and spicy ones punch you in the face a lot more. My spice tolerance as I got older has become worse, and I would say that I'm in the middle of the spectrum--I can handle moderately spicy food. The spicy kalguksu is perfect for that moderate and higher tolerance people. It isn't too much too handle, but it does slow me down a little bit. They have the pork and chive dumplings, which is my personal preference (I don't like kimchi dumplings as much personally), which come out beautifully steamed. It may not be exactly like it, but it does remind me of the dumplings I had in Korea.
google avatar

Ron P.

Yelp
Pretty spacious restaurant. Service is very friendly and welcoming and the ladies are constantly going around checking for water and kimchi refills. The kimchi is amazing by the way! Just a lot garlicky haha. I got the spicy kalguksu which was a first but it was good! Their dumplings are also really good.
google avatar

Yelp
My favorite dumpling place! I always come here for their rice cake dumpling soup. This place is well known in Korea bc I believe it has a Michelin star. This place was recently remodeled and it looks great outside and inside. Before the plaza was really ghetto but now I feel safer coming here. Once you come here you'll be back for more. Service here is friendly and you can even buy a jar of their famous kimchi. It's so worth it. I buy about jar and take it to the Bay with me

Yelp
I've been coming here for years, even before the new management took over. Our go-to dish has always been the Kal-Sa-Man (kalguksu, sari, and mandu). Since the change in ownership, I've actually noticed an improvement in food quality -- especially with the addition of the spicy kalguksu option, which has become our favorite. Now, about the service. When the restaurant isn't busy, we usually receive decent service. However, during rush hours, it's a completely different story. We've often been overlooked, seated after others who arrived later, and generally brushed off. We used to let it slide because we truly love the food here. Unfortunately, after our last visit, my wife and I decided we won't be returning. We arrived right before the dinner rush, were seated fairly quickly, and received water and kimchi -- but then waited 30 minutes without anyone taking our order. We watched two other tables (who arrived after us) get served their meals while we were still waiting. To be honest, the issue seems to come from one particular older lady who appears to run the floor. She consistently has a poor attitude, refuses help from other staff, and dismisses anyone who tries to step in. Multiple employees noticed we hadn't been helped and tried to assist, but she waved them off and never came back to take our order. It's disappointing because we've supported this restaurant for years, and all we ever wanted was good food and respectful service. We pay like everyone else -- we just expected to be treated fairly.

Yelp
We have been to the MDK in Korea which was amazing. We had no idea they had started to open some stores here in California! We came here post easter mass and we had made right before the rush. We got the kalguksu and the spicy cold noodles. The spicy cold noodles was so good, it was sweet tangy and spicy. The kalguksu was also super good but its not the same as Korea. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious also super clean. We will definitely be back to eat the rest of their dishes!

Yelp
So delicious as always! Love that they give you 3 plates of kimchi banchan: one white kimchi, one garlic kimchi and one EXTRA garlicky kimchi. It was so fricking good that we bought a 32oz jar for $17. They also sell a half gallon jar of kimchi for $34. Came on a Sunday lunch and they were very efficient: there was someone walking around with a dolly to disperse water and banchan every 10mins. Tons of tables inside so no wait at all. Pro tip: utensils and napkins are located in a side drawer under the table Parking: - plenty in large lot shared with other businesses

Yelp
Still one of my favorite restaurants to go to! I love their noodles, pork dumplings, and kimchi. I love it so much that I've taken so many friends here, and they agree on how delicious the dishes here are.

Yelp
Delicious cold noodles that were so refreshing for a hot summer afternoon! The restaurant was also very clean and service was quick.

Yelp
This restaurant is located next to Seafood City, so there's ample parking. It's somewhat difficult to spot this restaurant. We joke that this restaurant looks like the outside of an H&R Block lol. This was our second visit. We are IN LOVE with the kimchi here!! We kept asking for more plates of it. I ended up buying a jar of it. I ordered the dumpling soup, which was okay. My date ordered the cold noodle soup, which was soooo delicious. Service was great. The food came out fast and the server came back and checked on us throughout our meal. In terms of ambiance, it's not a very cute spot, but it's certainly delicious. We'll be back!

Yelp
We came on a Sunday morning and there was no wait. The kalguksu was pretty similar to what I had in Korea. The bowl of noodles came out piping hot. The noodles were soft and the portion was pretty big. The dumplings however tasted like frozen dumplings. They also give spicy kimchi and non-spicy kimchi. The spicy kimchi was so good but also so spicy. I would definitely be back again!

Yelp
Food is delicious! I love the pork dumplings, theyre so chewy and flavorful. The noodles were both great, the naengmyeon was better than the kalguksu in my opinion. The sweet pear pairs well with the cold noodles. The kalguksu broth is delicious and hearty. Only complaints are that both noodles didnt come with much protein compared to noodles ratio. Service was great, super attentive and friendly. Speedy!! The inside is spacious and has tons of tables. Everything looks clean and well maintained. Only thing is the outside of the store looks intimidating and the plaza its located in doesnt feel very popular.

Yelp
The kimchi is the strongest anywhere, and the kalguksu is probably the best I've ever come by. Service can be a little slow, but not bad

Yelp
We keep coming back for their incredibly addicting garlicky kimchi! We usually stick with the kalguksu noodle soup, which is always comforting, but on a recent hot day, we tried the cold soybean noodle soup. It was refreshing and surprisingly filling. Since it's on the blander side, it pairs perfectly with their kimchi. We also had the bulgogi hot stone bibimbap. The sizzling stone bowl gives it that great crispy rice texture, and the extra sesame oil on the side is a plus. The aunties who run the place are warm, attentive, and quick to offer kimchi refills.

Yelp
I came on a Sunday afternoon with a large party and it was busy as there weren't many workers to customers ratio. Luckily we were seated right away. It is nice, spacious, and renovated inside. There's also plenty of parking outside. -I got to try a little bit of everything the pork dumplings were thick with filling and delicious. -The hot stone bulgogi bibimbab was mostly veggies and not flavorful even after adding the sauces they provided. -The pan fried dumplings were crunchy not much flavor. -The black bean rice cake with added noodles the rice cake had a great texture but again flavorless. -The pork bulgogi was so soft, mushy, and so oily that's all I could taste. -Mixed spicy arrowroot noodles were just okay not memorable. -My favorite thing besides the pork dumplings was the kimchi it was amazing refreshing and delicious. They give you free refills I ate 2-3 trays. Each refill will tastes different though I'm assuming it's different batches of kimchi. The only thing that saved any of the dishes was being able to add their kimchi to the top. If I came back I would only come for the kimchi because everything else is too over priced to be ok/underwhelming in taste. Tip the utensils and napkins were neatly tucked in a compartment underneath the table!

Yelp
When I came previously, this place has a cozy and rustic vibe. This time it felt like I was in a food court. The service was fast and the food was decent. My biggest complaint was the limited menu. The menu listed a decent number noodle dishes, but it's all essentially the same dish because it's just the non-spicy and spicy version. I would have loved to see more options like noodles with other meats or seafood options. That said, the food here is pretty authentic, from the knife cut noodles to the side dishes to the house made kimchi. The food was tasty, but it just felt like I'm eating the same thing although we got three different items to share.

Yelp
Came for dinner on a weekday, so there wasn't a rush and service was relatively quick. Plenty of parking but its not located in the best plaza and pretty dark. Inside is spacious and bright - its a big room with tables every few feet to maximize capacity. We were served kimchi banchan (so good and so fresh!) and our choice of hot tea or ice water right upon arrival. We ordered: - Rice Cake & Dumpling Soup (hot) - Spicy Kimchi Green Chlorella Noodle (cold) - Pan Fried Dumplings My favorite of these three was the cold noodles - the texture of the noodles was the perfect chewy and the cold soup was refreshing. The spicy was tolerable, even for myself who has lower tolerance in spice. I'd still enjoy the non-spicy more though. The pan fried dumplings were bite size with a nice crispy, but the filling (pork and veggie) didn't do too much for me. I would say it lacked flavor and juiciness. Oh, we took the hot soup home and when the lady brought us our container, she also noted that we're not able to take the kimchi side dish home! That's totally fine but it seemed like a waste because there was a lot of kimchi left given a worker had refilled our dish shortly before. Minus one star for the price because despite being decent (not bad but not great), each dish was $17.99 and didn't feel quite worth it when I can get something just as good in Buena Park.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've been to Myung Dong Kyoga and it saddens me to say that their quality has significantly fallen. The interior looks great and is very clean. I got the chicken kalguksu and it was lacking in so many aspects. Soup was bland and the noodles were so over cooked. Good kalguksu should have noodles with a good chew and an al dente texture. The noodles I had were extremely mushy. Dumplings were tiny with hardly any filling. There's definitely better places in OC for kalguksu.

Yelp
Such good noodles! Bomb kimchi that has a strong and addicting garlic taste. I get the hype, it's worth it! Cold - order the arrowroot noodles if you're craving that clumpy, delicious naengmyeon texture Cold knife cut noodles end up being firmer, still pleasant but less reminiscent of the cold noodles I'm used to Hot - very spicy Dumplings - paper thin wrapper that was fantastic, made the meat filling really stand out (pockets of meat), like shumai.

Yelp
Immediately sat down, served kimchi and water. Took our orders right away. Asked for chopsticks so I can try the kimchi while I waited. They told us the hidden drawer with utensils. I forgot about those.... Service is quick and very efficient. We ordered: Pan fried dumplings Pork dumplings (steamed) Spicy Knife Cut Noodles in Chicken Broth Regular Knife Cut Noodles in Chicken Broth There were four of us. Food came out and it was incredible. Pan fried dumplings were so good. The pork dumplings were so good too. Honestly best mandus I've had.Knife Cut Noodles were delicious. But the kimchi is star of the show. They serve the most spicy garlicky kimchi. And then white kimchi. Honestly still wishing I took jars home. Note: you can't take leftover kimchi home.

Yelp
I am very familiar with mdk noodle in LA, but this was my first time at the anaheim location and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is spacious and has plentiful tables. AC was strong which was nice on a hot summer day. Service is quick. For some reason they didnt give us kimchi until we asked for it but make sure to get it because it really adds to the meal! The portions are pretty large, so my friend and I got one kalguksu and got a sari (smaller portion) of the kalguksu for only $5. Definitely recommend doing this if you don't think you can finish an entire bowl of kalguksu on your own or want to try different things on the menu. The mandu was delicious and filled with meat and juicy broth.

Yelp
This is still my noodle place to go when I'm in Anaheim however we stopped going there as our go-to place as the price went up and we now pay for sari(side additional plate of noodles). My kids love fried dumplings while we love steamed dumplings. As always kalguksu and nangmyeon is always good. Service is hit or miss. Some busy days you need to be patient.
