Yelp
I have always loved egg tarts and when I heard from my friend about this place -- I just knew I had to try it out. I thought it was interesting all the different flavors they made, while still being diverse it was also limited. At the time I went, it was around 10:30am and nearly half their trays of each flavor were empty. Hopefully they were baking more. The prices for each singular egg tart truly varied, I thought it was a little on the expensive side. Since their egg tarts seemed to be varying in sizes. We even ordered two of the same flavor and they were different sizes-- if they could work on consistency that would be great. I also noticed that some toppings, were also limited in terms of quantity given (if you compare it to their poster image that's displayed in the shop).
I ordered:
- 2 Crème Brûlée: the crème brûlée was both delicious and sad. It's because the interior was quite runny compared to your usual egg tart. But the burnt sugar topping added beautiful, rich, caramelized flavor that contrasted the sweet custard. The pastry itself did flake nicely and was hot! I think, if you give it 10-15 min, to slightly firm the egg custard part-- Then it tastes superb! I def recommend you keep the box open because you want the brûlée part to still have its crust.
- 2 Espresso: this one had a strong and bold espresso flavor, it was good-- but not for me. It was quite powerful and not as sweet as I'm used to eating.
- 2 Taro: the taro was interesting because it was your average egg custard tart piped with freshly mashed taro paste. The texture reminded me of red bean or mung bean. It was nice for my mom, but I didn't prefer it.
Overall, they were nice to try, but I wouldn't come here too often as the price for them rack up easily. They had both egg tarts & something they call sunflower tarts which seemed more on the expensive side with a little bit complex flavors. Na Tart is based on Portuguese egg tarts, which I have never had before. I only know of the Chinese one and I'd say they are a different in terms of taste and texture (pastry).
On the box given, it says you could put them in the fridge for the next day. And then either microwave them or toast them, I'd recommend toasting it. The crème brûlée one doesn't get the same effect if you eat it a day after though, so def keep that in mind--unless you have a torch! They even have savory egg tarts and coffee drinks available. As a special moment, I think Na Tart would be a nice tasting experience for people since you can get a box of 6 or 8!
