Best Korean Restaurants in Boston | Eater Boston

"For the diehard Korean barbecue fans, Naksan is a must-visit. This restaurant brought charcoal grilling to Boston’s Korean barbecue scene, which adds an extra layer of smokiness to the juicy meat. When the weather is bitterly cold outside, be sure to order warmed makgeolli (Korean rice wine) to wash down the meal." - Erika Adams

We love this place, and totally worth the money. Great, authentic food. I like that they grill meat for me. (Because who wants to spend $100+ to make your own food? This is my current go-to Korean BBQ.

Google
Naksan Korean BBQ is an excellent spot for high-quality Korean barbecue. The meat and ingredients are top-notch — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The staff is very friendly and attentive, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. We ordered the BBQ set size L, and it was more than enough for four people. It’s a great place to come with family — fun, relaxed, and delicious. Highly recommended if you’re looking for authentic Korean BBQ in a welcoming setting!

As other reviews have mentioned, the food is quality but portions are very small for the price. I dined here with one other person and we got the pork belly and wagu steak. The meats were delicious and cooked perfectly. The staff were very accommodating of my peanut allergy which I appreciated. After eating all of the meat and multiple sides, I left the meal still feeling hungry and ended up eating more food at home. Not ideal when you’ve just spent $50 per person for a restaurant meal.

Visiting from out of town and found this place through a Google search. The Kbbq here is out of this world amazing! We ordered a la carte beef brisket, premium pork belly, boneless short rib, cheesy corn, and steamed egg. It is a bit pricey but you're paying for the quality of meat (literally melts in your mouth) and service. Our server was super attentive and cooked everything for us tableside, while also refilling our banchan twice. Also they have very good vent hoods over the grill that sucks up all the strong charcoal kbbq smell and afterwards your clothes dont smell as bad like at other kbbq places. Would definitely come back if in Boston!

Google
Would NOT recommend unless you want to pay 140 for such a small plate of meat! Although I appreciate the lady who grilled for us, but the veggie she grilled is all burnt on the outside and completely HARD inside. We couldn’t eat it at all. Also why on earth did they put a Korean pancake on a pizza plate? So sus to me.

Google
Having experienced authentic Korean barbecue in Asia, this is as good as it gets in New England. Service is attentive and excellent. The quality of the meat and dishes will impress you. But, the cost is prohibitive. This is not a place you can afford to visit weekly - this is more of a splurge when you're celebrating something. We paid like $400 for 4 people to feel kinda satisfied but not full.

Google
This isn't a typical all-you-can-eat spot; it's a focus on quality over quantity, and it shows in every detail.

Google
Overall, the food was good, but for the price, I expected better attention to detail. We ordered the stir-fried glass noodles and seafood pancake, but they never arrived. We assumed they’d come after the meat, but they didn’t come until we had to ask again. Even though the server confirmed our order twice, it was never put in. The kimchi stew was also underwhelming. It was just an overload of kimchi, two pieces of tofu, and a bare bone. For a Korean restaurant, this should be a standout dish, but it ended up being the least impressive. Then there was the rice, which arrived lukewarm. If it's being served in a steel bowl designed to retain heat, it should at least start out warm. Although minor, we felt a bit rushed by how the server was constantly cooking the meat right in front of us, which didn’t give us much time to enjoy each bite before the next batch was already being made. That said, the meat was cooked perfectly by our server, and I’d recommend the corn cheese, stir-fried glass noodles, and steamed egg. The quality of the food itself was good, but with the high price point, I expected a smoother experience.

Yelp
Ambiance, is well lit, open space, pretty typical of your average KBBQ place in LA or NJ. We came for an early lunch just after they opened at 12 on a Sunday. There were already 2 tables there. Hostess asked if we had reservations, we did not, they sat us down near the window (4 people). The grill is Charcoal and the vacuum did a good job sucking all the smoke so we weren't breathing in any of it. Service: amazing, but it might be because we were basically the only table there for a while. Waitstaff was attentive, kept the refilling the waters, refilling the lettuce for wraps and would bring extra bonchons when we asked. We asked the waiter for suggestions as it was our first time there. We ordered everything he suggested, Beef Combo and Potato pancake. When food was served, the waiter did all the cooking and distribution of food. He was respectful and experienced. Food: excellent. Tea- They start the meal with a cup of Oomija (cold floral tea) to open up our appetite Bon Chon- a lot of sides, mash potato had veggies in it and was sweet. Kimchi was perfect, pickled green onion, celery, lettuce, potato's, fish cakes Potato pancake- worth the order, delicious, had cheese in the middle and kids loved it. Beef combo- 5 different cuts of meat, all great quality, cooked well and no gaminess. The combo came with a choice of soup, Kimchi or Miso spicy soup. Also came with steamed egg. Both were delectable. The steamed egg was one of the best I had ever tasted (I've been to quite a few Korean restaurants). Price point is on the high end but you have to expect to pay that around Boston since there aren't as many in the same league quality as in NJ/LA BBQs. Parking is street parking, we were able to find a spot after driving around a bit but that could be hard if unfamiliar with the area

Yelp
After trying 4 other Korean BBQ spots in our area we decided to drive a bit farther to try this one out, since the others had been just ok. We ordered the combo for 4 people for $179, all cuts of meat were very tender and had good look and smell as well, which already set it apart from a couple other ones I've visited in the past. The grill works with charcoal, is both electric like in other Korean BBQ places, which is great and gives the meat a nice flavor. All banchan plates were really good in flavor as well, the stew was a "finally a good one!" moment for me, after been served what tasted like colored water with some salt and cabbage in other places this one took the prize. The egg soufflé was great too, nice flavor and great size. We barely finished (2 people that eat a lot), so maybe this combo would be great for 3 people. Service was 10/10, from the person that picks up the phone, to the one that greets you to the server, super attentive and they kept making sure we had enough banchan at all times on our table. The greatest thing for me was the great extractors they use. In all the previous ones I had visited their extractors sucked! You get smoke all over your face, your hair, your clothes, your thoughts, everywhere! Here they have very good quality ones, my fresh washed hair appreciated it and it helped us enjoy our meal way more than in the other places. The parking situation is tricky, we had to do a couple laps around the block to try to find a spot, so be prepared for that. Many people like to complain about the price and what you get for what you pay, but we thought this was pretty fair priced. Compared to the quality of beef we got in other places, the service, flavor, and cleanliness + personal experience we believe this is a solid place for Korean BBQ.

Yelp
I don't often write 1 star reviews, but I was super disappointed with my experience at Naksan. This is one of those places that is extremely overhyped -- and for the outrageous price that we paid, both the food and the portion size fall far below any reasonable standard. I'll start with the portion sizes. My group of four ordered the large beef combo, which clocked in at $180 total. That said, I'm pretty sure "large beef combo" was supposed to be meant ironically, because the portions of meat that we got were extremely small. There was maybe enough for each of us to have 2-3 cubes of each serving. Yes, the combo comes with one (1) egg souffle and one (1) stew, but apparently you get the exact same amount for the small beef combo too, which definitely makes the large combo not worth it. Even more disappointing was the quality. Small serving sizes? Fine. Fine dining restaurants do it all the time -- but the difference is I walk away from those places actually feeling satisfied with what I paid for, instead of like I got scammed. To put it plainly, the cuts of meat were not good. The cuts of meat were chewy and underwhelming. The last course (thinly sliced beef brisket) was the type of thin, rolled meat you'd get at an AYCE BBQ place, not somewhere that I just paid $180 for. Honestly, I can think of no redeeming qualities to my time at Naksan. Service was super slow / neglectful + kept forgetting parts of our order, despite the restaurant being largely empty. The price was ridiculous. The food was mid. All in all, I'd recommend skipping Naksan at all costs -- even buying meats to grill yourself is more worth than this.

Yelp
I like their success, but I want them to know I felt robbed off. The guy was professional as I met him out of the store, and I told him that I just wanted to have a good Kimchi Jigge. He said I needed to have two meals minimum. so I told him that I might have another order like Nang Myun or Pa Jeon. Then, I was told that I have to order two meat orders. Is it legal? I felt bad that I was seated now and set-up was done on the table. One order of meat is at least $39. Tow of minimum orders would make it $100 easy beside my KimChi Jigge. I ended up ordering one meat to have my Kimchi and ended up paying $70 altogether for KimChi Jigge, which I needed after a long trip away from my Korean food. The parking was nearly impossible. Vallet costs you $20, or you have to find parking and walk to the store for at least 5-10 min. If you are a Korean who like to have Korean food, this place is not for you. If you have $$$ and like meats- this might be your choice. Rice (Bab) was terrible- just like you get from Mexican food. No ill intention, but for the better.

Yelp
Came here with a party of 4 on a weeknight. I had a reservation for 6 pm but it was probably unnecessary since there were plenty of tables open. You could call ahead of time to check as well. We split a large beef combo and also got a seafood pancake. All of the food tasted really good! The meats were all tender and flavorful (note that the restaurant staff will cook for you). I also enjoyed the banchan dishes as well as the included egg souffle and kimchi stew. The seafood pancake was different from what I'm used to from other restaurants -- it was more soft and crepe like, and the included sauce was pretty spicy. However, as many have mentioned, I think that it was definitely expensive for what you get. I've had excellent high quality KBBQ in other cities for less. Also I'm normally quite full after KBBQ but this was NOT the case here. And this is with us getting the seafood pancake too. We ended up eating more food at home since we didn't want to spend more at Naksan. The meat that is shown in my picture is all you get. All in all our bill was $212 for 4 people....so I won't be in a hurry to come back to be honest. Maybe only for a special occasion.

Yelp
I was excited to hear that a new Korean BBQ place was coming to Boston because there aren't a ton of great options for Korean BBQ here! Food: We got both the Beef combo and the Pork combo. Both meat platters were delectable and were great quality. The marinated meats were tasty and not overwhelming in flavor. The egg soufflé had the potential to be amazing but the texture was inconsistent. It was also too burnt on the bottoms so impossible to scrape. The Jjigae (stew) was delicious and very full in flavor! Good amount of meat and veggies in it too. The ice cream we got for dessert was so beautiful and loved that it came with an additional sweet honey dessert with it (Yakgwa) Ambiance: This is a classic Korean BBQ place. The servers grill the food for you so your clothes don't have to stink up too much! This place also gets very lively at night if you like to drink Soju with your meal. Price: Definitely on the pricier side. It was more than expected but also unsurprising for a Korean BBQ place in Boston. Overall would go again if I'm really craving Korean BBQ. I would say this is the best BBQ place in the Boston area.

Yelp
A lot bigger inside than I first thought. Service was great. Very accommodating. Expensive for sure. But over all pretty tasty. Marinade was good. Meats were good. Side dishes were good. Over all good. Didn't blow my mind off my shoulders but just good.

Yelp
I have been dying to try Naksan since it opened but was hesitant knowing the price and reading the reviews. I went Monday night as a party of two around 9 and it was pretty empty. We ordered the small beef combo with kimchi stew. One thing was that we asked if the combo came with rice and they said yes but they never gave us rice (then we realized we didn't need it!). The small beef combo is a perfect size for two people who eat a good amount. Every cut was really tender and flavorful, although there was one that was a little chewy but tasted good (marinated cubes short rib I think). I liked them all but I think brisket and the first two were my favorites. The combo comes with some veggies (squash, onion, asparagus, oyster mushroom, green pepper) which are actually very good. The egg soufflé was so good and their kimchi stew was the best I have ever had in my life. It was decently spicy and packed with a tomatoey flavor and had meat and tofu in it. There were 8 types of banchan and each kind was so good and I think they really added so many different flavors and supplemented the meat well. We ended up getting premium pork belly despite being pretty full and their pork belly was amazing and they did a great job cooking it perfectly. I want to mention that reading the reviews about how kbbq in other cities may be better/cheaper, out of all of the places I have tried in Boston, Naksan wins by a landslide. I wish it was slightly cheaper since to be satisfied and full it's probably around 100pp, but I think considering Boston prices this place is reasonable enough. The combo plus the soufflé, stew, banchan, and lettuce wraps with the meat is a perfect combination for a satisfying meal. The non bbq foods looked amazing but probably not worth it unless you're splitting it with many people or not getting bbq. I will definitely be coming back when I have the money to spend again!

Yelp
(3.5) No complaints on the service. Our server was pretty attentive to our side dishes. I do like the interior, and I liked that the fume hood is right above the grill. We ordered a small beef combo and a seafood pancake. (Perfect amount for 2) I've been to quite a few other kbbq places where they cook the meat at the table for you. The person cooking it for us here wasn't as good as the other places I've been. The cuts of meat were pretty good, but not amazing. I don't regret ordering the small beef combo since it was my first time there. Personally, I really like having rice paper & or radish paper with my kbbq, but they also don't have that here, which is a pretty big drawback, in my opinion. I also wouldn't say that it was worth the price either, unlike the ones in LA. But if you want the experience in Boston, this is probably one of the closest options. The seafood pancake was good. It was different than the other ones that I had previously, but I still enjoyed it. Overall, I don't think I would order the small beef combo again if I returned. I might give some of their other dishes a try since I liked the seafood pancake.

Yelp
Naksan is new-ish, but already has set itself as one of the best KBBQs in the Boston area. The restaurant was very spacious and clean and I really appreciated the openness of the restaurant. Yes, Naksan is pricey, but every cut of meat was prime. Everything tasted fresh. I also enjoyed all the banchan and the 3 dipping sauces were a nice touch to the main bbq. The sides were also good, we got the egg souffle and the kimchi soup. A nice touch was also the roasted rice(?) tea that helped cut through the fat of the food as well haha. The service was also really attentive!
google avatar

Shane H.

Yelp
Naksan BBQ has a very classy environment for KBBQ. It is a big open space with burning hot fire cooking the meats. My friend and I got the small beef combo set. The meat quality and service are both good. The side dishes are fresh and delicious as well. The food is all good but the portions can't justify the price for me. Overall still pretty solid.
google avatar

Phuong L.

Yelp
One of the better KBBQ places in boston! Quality meat and side dishes. We got the combo so the kimchi stew and soufflé eggs were a great addition. Also, I tried the cold noodles and wow. It was soooo goood!! Such a nice combo with kbbq. Highly recommend! The price was a bit pricey tho compared to other places
google avatar

Lucy L.

Yelp
Loved it. Some of the best meat I've ever had. We ordered the large beef combo. It was very expensive. The server cooks everything for you. That has it's pros and cons. Pro everything done perfectly. Con you have a stranger at the table the whole time. They have bags in the bench to protect your coat from the BBQ smell. The server offered to give us more side dishes at least three times, including after we had finished all our meat. The egg souffle was nice. A single kimchi soup--really for 200$ you can't give each of us a soup?) I'm totally relieved that the Korean school girl uniforms the waitress had to wear wasn't short and she was allowed to wear pants with it. I'd definitely return for a special occasion or if someone else was paying!
google avatar

Yerina K.

Yelp
As a Korean girlie living in Boston and missing the motherland food, I think that this place has given me a close authentic experience! The side dishes provided were solid (steamed egg, stew, kimchi, etc) and a lot of other places make you pay for that but this comes with the food. I will say that it is definitely pricey and can easily be $100 total but I would consider it a good splurge for the quality of food and experience! The staff there were very fast, efficient, and also wear old school uniforms used in Korea which is cute. The atmosphere is nice and feels like drinking places in Korea. I would recommend that you try this place at least once, especially if you want to splurge on good food!

Yelp
Birthday celebration for my brother tonight -- my family, friends and I really enjoyed the food and the ambiance of the place! The place is very clean and gave off a warm atmosphere that made conversations and the environment really enjoyable! Food was a little on the pricier side but considering the quality and service (we ordered the large combos of pork and beef) was great as our server came to cook for us. We got assorted meat platters and a couple of shareables (2 meat combo which came with 2 sides each, 2 shareables) and it is enough for our group of 7. Shoutout to our server, Ethan -- he was a great conversationalist and very kind and made our experience much more fun as we wait for the food to be cooked. Food was good, server was great and ambience was enjoyable so I will definitely come back whenever I am in the area!
google avatar

Alyanna T.

Yelp
My partner and I celebrated his birthday w the Naksan Grand Tour, which included banchan side dishes, soybean stew, egg soufflé, kimchi pancake, special beef tartare w caviar, nine cuts of beef including Japanese A5 wagyu, and vanilla and pumpkin ice cream desserts - TASTE: 5/5 - everything was strong. Highlights included the savory eggplant and spicy pepper banchan, flavorful soybean stew, melt-in-your-mouth wagyu, beef tongue, and short rib, and pumpkin ice cream. Having the salt and sesame oil on hand really elevated the meats too TEXTURE: 5/5 - from the fluffy egg soufflé, crispy thin kimchi pancake, and tender cuts of beef to the crunchy cookie bits and soft edible flowers that complemented the ice cream dessert -- just excellent! PRICE: 3/5 - at $175pp, the Grand Tour is obviously a high price point. Because the other BBQ for group options there were almost as expensive, we intended to splurge and go all out for this birthday celebration SERVING SIZE: 5/5 - we originally thought that the nine cuts of beef wouldn't be enough, but that and all of the other sides filled us up by the end of dinner. So stuffed SERVICE: 5/5 - we walked in precisely at opening at 5pm on a Tuesday night. The staff was warm and attentive w water and banchan refills, and our particular server was friendly and a professional on our grill for sure lol ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - sleek, classy, and modern space. The grill setup and close fume hood effectively vented the KBBQ smoke and smell off of us PARKING: 4/5 - got lucky w a free street spot almost in front of Naksan on Commonwealth Ave

Yelp
Overall, everyone had a good time and enjoyed most of the meals. However, the inability to savor the time given the speed at which the various meals were served, seemingly to manage the dining crowd really damper the experience for the group.
google avatar

Melanie W.

Yelp
Came here when they opened, no people yet. We ordered the beef tartar, short rib, pork jowls, and the egg souffle. The portion are small for the price... the only dish that worth the price is the beef tartar but wish they have less black pepper seasoning. The meat are fresh and no need to worry that the meat will burn since someone grilled for you. 2 people cost us $93 each person for 4 items, not really worth it but I did enjoyed my dinner.
google avatar

Anna B.

Yelp
Dinner cost a lot for food that was just OK. The meat and some of the accompaniments tasted like something I'd make myself. The service was attentive overall, though I think I'd rather cook the food myself because it's hard to have normal conversation when your server is standing over your table cooking. The only service hiccups were that the table was never cleared so when we got dessert we were pushing the numerous plates out of the way and stacking them up to make room and we had to wave someone down to get the check. I could have given 3 stars if not for the prices - there's a minimum of 2 meats and they start at $40. Portions are for 1, so if you're a party of 1 or 2 you're spending $80 to start, without drinks or dessert. If you want the Korean BBQ experience this place is fine, but otherwise I'd go somewhere else to get more for your money.
google avatar

Danny S.

Yelp
Food was great. We had about 5 People that we reserved a table for. Service was great but waiters can also be quite rude. We were charged a service fee of $170.56. I knew I should've questioned why a service fee was so expensive-- I just wanted to leave asap anyways. I've also tipped 20 percent on top of that. Shady practices. Will be reporting to the Attorney General.
google avatar

Juhye K.

Yelp
Quite a bougie kbbq spot especially noted when dining in. Loved the banchan and the service was great, but we felt the menu items were quite overpriced for the quality. We started with yukhoe which I generally enjoy, but it did feel like the meat was lacking and the asian pear volume was space occupying. The meat while good was not particularly fresh tasting or flavorful, it was more dependent on the marinade and thus the plain cuts were forgettable. The naengmyun was a sleeper hit - delicious, refreshing and the best way to end the meal.
google avatar

Logan S.

Yelp
When we first sat down and looked at the menu it was very deceiving because the top option was $179 per person, we almost got up and left. As you move down the menu it has group options but the $179 per person had us so stunned that we thought the $159 group price still meant per person. We clarified with our waitress and we're not worried anymore. The meal was enjoyable. Everything was so well seasoned and flavorful. The different kimichis that came out were the highlight of my experience. My friends could not stop talking about the kimchi stew and steamed egg! The ambiance was chill. I prefer all you can eat kbbq places but this was a nice visit!

Yelp
This restaurant is really good, pricey, but has the best korean bbq in Boston and the Boston area. Here is what I ordered: 1 Small Beef Platter which comes with letters, kimchi or soybean soup, and rice 1 Premium Pork Belly 1 Apple Mango Soju (Soju is a Korean liquor) + Dumpling and rice cake soup came for free because it's New Years. We didn't order it and they gave it to us for free because it's a tradition New Years dish. We (My wife and I) came here to have dinner because we were too lazy to cook. I been here twice previously. The service was pretty fast and amazing but we walked in while it was slow. The servers will stay at your table to grill the meats for you and it's grilled over charcoal. Staff continues to explain things to you if you need the help. I recommend this restaurant especially for celebration. It's a good alternative to American steakhouses because it does have a steakhouse price tag to it. It came up to $210 (before tips) but we got to taste a few different cuts of meat + alcohol. Every ingredient was very high quality (USDA Prime for beef). There could be a long line during friday evenings to plan for that. Come early if you have the chance because lines form 5:30pm and after.

Yelp
This restaurant is so good! Fun! Delicious! Attentive! The staff is amazing. The organization is superior to any place I have been in Boston. The experience itself is special, interesting, pampering and worth it. It's not inexpensive but, the experience, food and care is worth the cost. The food was delicious and thoughtful, and the experience of having food cooked on a barbecue with a lovely, lovely wait person was delightful. Shared the beef barbecue and there was so much food. Exactly what we hoped for- I will be back. Loved it!

Yelp
Food (1/2): Had the beef combo (L) + pork belly + wagyu + seafood pancake. In the context of Boston? Great! Objectively? Good with some questionable price/portion. Their gyeran jjim was bountiful and had a nice "flair" of cherry tomato cuts but too dry. Seafood pancake was interesting as it doesn't look like the typical pancake. It is tasty with strong sour-flavor from the sauce. The way it was cooked also allowed a crispy "bottom" and soft "top". Seafood pieces were a bit lacking but present. Side dishes were decent as well but each portion was relatively small (though it's free to ask for more). Their brisket? dipping sauce (not sure, but soy-sauce-like and some green pepper) were so...small in portion? I don't think it hurts to give more? The typical salt/sesame sauce had no sesame oil in it...not sure if that's normal/not. The beef cuts overall were alright. Since it was cooked by the server, it came out properly cooked (they had asked how we like it cooked). Certain marinades were a bit too much but still palatable. However, after looking at the portion...again, a similar pattern of small portion for the price comes up. Service/wait-time/cleanliness (1.5/2): We got in right when they opened so the service as well as wait-time was amazing at that point I guess. Cleanliness is great. A minor minus point is when our original server was away and another person "took over" cooking our wagyu meat. While it ended up alright, it felt like this person was not fully capable of cooking it properly? As there seems to be confusion as they were flipping the meat back and forth, and wasn't sure if the heat was sufficiently hot or the meat was too cold. Either way, I had expected that all servers had been trained properly when it comes to handling cuts/meats that cost $$$$$$$$$. Price (0/1): While the overall dishes were great, the prices that they charge were incredibly high. The wagyu is especially expensive, which was ~$120 for the smallest cut (~$40/oz but minimum of 3oz). I'd say only worth it for special occasions and only because it's in Boston. There's probably more alternatives with better "bang-for-buck" if this was, say, LA. Rounded to 3 due to overall good experience.

Yelp
I still agree with everything! Prior I had mentioned how I was hungry after sharing it with three people and this time I got it split between two people and I was FULL though I got beef this time but same small size. However, it was 90pp this time and we didn't get any alcohol or anything just a small sprite. Service is always great and staff are considerably attentive. Would recommend when you really feel like treating yourself!

Yelp
Came here early Tuesday night - many empty tables but parking was still a pain to find! Most parking spots in front are permit only but there'll be occasional street parking spots. Definitely a well serviced restaurant- a lot of staff who were attentive and set up the tables. You use a QR code to pull up the menu and press the call button when you're ready for the server. They served a complimentary fruity tea at the beginning. We opted for the S beef combo and an order of tteokbokki. The total was close to $200 for 2 people since one of us also ordered a glass of wine. Pretty pricy for sure. The food was good - the tteokbokki didn't have a lot of sauce but was great texture and the sauce was pretty spicy. It was a smaller portion and felt like a lighter tteokbokki which I appreciated considering the other food. The vent at the table is pretty amazing - I did a smell check the next day and only smelled a hint of wood/charcoal and no meat at all. Decent array of banchan, egg was good, and the kimchi jigae tasted a bit tomato-y to me? It was good and still spicy but different than what I've had elsewhere. We especially liked the hanger steak from the combo. It is a little awkward since the server spends a lot of time cooking and standing next to the table. Other places I've been to the server will cook, serve, and leave and come back. Here our server mostly stayed next to us. It's definitely expensive but this is a nice place to bring someone who's nervous about kbbq or who appreciates higher service. Everyone was very nice, restaurant was very clean, and you don't leave smelling like smoke or fat.

Yelp
I'd be lying if I didn't disclose up front that I came here for the dalgona candy from Squid Game. I got two, well, my two kids did. Naksan BBQ is a Korean BBQ restaurant located at 1414 Commonwealth Ave, walking distance from Brighton High School. The restaurant opened up in the space that used to be Izakaya Ittoku. The restaurant has been opened for about 6 months now. I came with my family on a Sunday night around 5:30pm. There was plenty of table available around this time. You are asked to wait outside for your table after entering. Your waitress will call you in and take you to your table when they are ready to seat you. The process is a bit awkward since you were in the restaurant to inquire for a table and then asked to step back outside until they are ready to seat you. The weather was nice so I didn't mind this bit of inconvenience too much. The restaurant opens weekdays at 5:00pm and on weekend starting at noon. There is very limited street parking therefore I don't recommend a large group gathering unless you are carpooling, taking the T, or using ride share. Parking is very scarce for this area. You will see mostly parking by permit only. There is very limited two hour parking in front of the restaurant and on side streets. You are paying for the whole experience. Customer service was top notch. The bbq meats are cooked on charcoal. The waitress cooks the meats and serve the food so you never have to lift a finger to grill. There is a plethora of side dishes to choose from and you can ask for refills. Everything is beautiful presented. The space is modern and clean. In my opinion, the small beef combo is plenty of food. All of the combos come with a kimchi stew and an egg soufflé. There are tons of side dishes that you can ask for refills. We also ordered the premium pork belly which ended up being way too much meat for us. The kimchi stew and egg soufflé are some of the best I have had in Boston. We also ordered the seafood pancake which was tasty. It had plenty of green onion and seafood and a nice crispy texture. We also ordered the spicy cold noodles, also tasty. If you love Korean bbq then this place is a must try. Our meal was $250 before tip. In my opinion, totally worth it. I can't wait to come back. My husband thinks he can't go to any of the other Korean BBQ places after this experience. I agree with him, Naksan is the best Korean BBQ in Boston hands down. It is definitely better than some of the ones I have tried in New York. I am happy to have this new option in Boston. See my pictures.

Yelp
- Review for those who are familiar with KBBQ: This is a premium level Korean BBQ experience and staff cooks on the table for you. Quality meats and sides and the marinated meats were not too saucy. And a decent selection of banchan, quantity of each banchan was small but you can keep asking for refills. It is on the pricier side but where else are you going to find this level of quality in the Boston area? - Review for who do not know what KBBQ is or have not been before: This is ideal as you don't have to cook your own meats and the service will guide you through this experience. The combo plates are set in a way that it is like a tasting menu and you'll get to enjoy the joys of eating KBBQ without having too much leg work yourself or knowledge of how to cook things yourself. While cooking your own meats is sometimes part of the experience it's not ideal for those who don't want to bother or might under/overcook the meats. You can't get any fresher than grilled meats that go directly to your plate from grill. Link to menu: https://qr1.be/MOT8

Yelp
Pretty good korean bbq. The steamed egg was great. Although we didn't expect the server to cook our food for us and stand at our table the entire time. Overall, it was pretty pricey and there is probably better kbbq in allston.

Yelp
to be honest, a little overhyped. for the price i feel like you do not get enough meat. the complimentary egg dish is good but the side dish selection i feel could be better- what usually sets koreanresturants apart. we got the meat combo set menu and i just felt like it was lacking. they do cook meat for you though. the inside feels very hip and is great for photo taking.

Yelp
Excellent food and superb service. Highly recommended. My stepdaughter does not usually care for pork, but she absolutely loved the pork belly! Overall, a lovely establishment with excellent food.

Yelp
This is a type of Korean BBQ spot I would expect to see in NYC, LA, and in Korea. Very trendy, hip, and a seemingly fun spot to hang late night with your friends. Unfortunately, I thought it was incredibly overpriced for average quality Korean BBQ food. Also, it's criminal that they don't have traditional kimchi or garlic anywhere. What's a Korean BBQ without regular kimchi and garlic? Furthermore, the service when we went around 630pm on a Friday evening was inconsistent. Multiple servers running around confused. Perhaps they were understaffed that evening, but If I go to a Korean BBQ, I prefer to do the cooking myself. I don't need anyone to cook for me, if they do they do it as a way to assist from time to time, it's not something you expect. I had high hopes, but perhaps that lead me down. As a Korean-American, this is a spot I would visit occasionally with friends but I wouldn't automatically recommend it as one of the top Korean BBQ spots in Boston.

Yelp
As others have said, the quality is good and they do cook things for you. We went on a Tuesday night and there were a handful of tables filled. They came quickly to take our order, but forgot our rice until we asked for it after the first round of meat had been cooked. They also didn't bring the grill over until we asked for it -- I think we ended up waiting like 20 minutes. I used my hand as a frame of reference for the combo. My hand is 6" long. The prices have all gone up since a few months ago, and the large pork combo is now $140. Three of us are together, and server split the food evenly. The menu says a large can serve 3-4 people, but I could have easily eaten most of it on my own with the rice + sides + egg. The egg is more yellow and fluffier than I've seen at other kbbq places, but the bottom portion of the egg that touches the bowl had this weird taste and mouthfeel. It reminded me of when you eat too much spinach -- I don't know if they added something to it to make the egg look more appealing, but the weird texture and taste of the bottom portion threw me off. The rest of it was fine. I think it's good, but not worth the money.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday yesterday. Huge fail. We ordered the Large Beef Combo. Barely any meat and just random mushroom and veggies on the plate. This is all we ordered and our total bill was 225$ including tip. Meat was lackluster, literally the same as any AYCE kbbq, I was expecting amazing quality given the price. Portions are tiny. My girlfriend and I were starving still after. The service was laughable. If you ever hate someone, take them here. You cannot really have a conversation as the exhaust pipe blocks the view of person in front of you. Also the hostess hovered over our table for 80% of the evening so it was one of the most awkward dinners I have ever had. All in all, skip this place. It's not worth the money whatsoever and a huge rip off.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant in Boston. There are a lot of restaurants I enjoy and would recommend but it's always been hard to pick a flat-out favorite. Well, I'm glad Naksan is here now. The quality of meat is amazing, and they have every dish that goes with KBBQ, including tofu soup, beef tartare, green onion pancake, and cold buckwheat noodles. The banchan was also plentiful and top notch. The servers are super attentive and great at cooking the meat. This is the only place in Boston with a charcoal grill and a vent that comes all the way down to the table. I will probably want to come here for every major celebration including birthdays and holidays. They also do birthday songs for anyone who wants to embarrass a friend. Parking is probably rough in this area, but there is street parking available if you are willing to look a few blocks away. If possible, I'd suggest taking the T or an uber.

Yelp
Relatively new Korean BBQ spot in Allston. In my opinion, it's the best one in the surrounding area with quality meats, side dishes, stews and more. I was very impressed with the food and everything was very delicious. The servers who cook and serve the meat could use some practice but I'm sure it's a learning curve from newly opening. I personally think too many servers were rotating to our grill and flipping the meats right when another person would come and flip it so they were just cooking the same side again and again. I also think it's a nice gesture to put the cooked meats on our personal plates but I would prefer to just pick and choose the quantity of food I want to eat instead of splitting it evenly. I also think they waited a bit too long to start grilling and because it's on charcoal instead of regular electric or gas, I definitely think they could have avoided grilling on the the ash of the white coals. Overall, I think the food was good but will be back to see if they've improved their service. Definitely check it out if you're in the area!

Yelp
I came here for a Saturday lunch with a few friends. We came at 12 which is when they open, so the restaurant was relatively empty. They only seat entire parties, so expect to wait outside if your entire party is not present. We were seated immediately at one of the booth seats. There is a QR to scan for the menu and then a button to push on the table for service when you are ready to order. We ordered the BBQ beef for the group. You get the sides, the different cuts of meat, egg soufflé, kimchi soup, and white rice. You can get refills on any of the sides so def ask for more of your favorites! The waitstaff cooks the meats for you, which was a nice surprise. The food is pricey, so I wouldn't want to l overcook anything. I think the meats were well seasoned and had alot of flavor without needing a dipping sauce. We also got some soju and beer. They don't always carry every beer they have on their menu. When we went, only 3 of the beers were available. Food was good, not outstanding. Service was attentive. Would return in the future but probably wouldn't rush to go back.

Yelp
Although the portions are a bit small, the taste and quality is phenomenal :) The service was 10/10! Will be back here for sure!

Yelp
I finally tried this kbbq place and it was amazing! The quality of the meat is really good! It is a bit pricey for the amount of meat they give you but it's worth it for the meat quality. We ordered the large beef combo (for 4 of us) and we were content afterwards! The combo comes with the soufflé egg (so good!) and kimchi or soybean stew. We got the kimchi stew and it was surprisingly delicious! The staff also cooks for you and the service is decent. I'll definitely come back here occasionally!

Yelp
A little pricey but totally worth it! We ended up getting the beef combo for 4 of us and it was a lot of food. I've been to a few Korean BBQ places before but have never been to one like this where the server cooks the meat for you. Everything about our experience and the atmosphere was perfect. Will definitely be coming back next time I'm in Boston!

Yelp
Food: 3.5/5 Came on a friday night with a half hour wait. We ordered the seafood pancake and the small beef combo which comes with an assortment of cuts. The beef combo comes with an egg souffle, choice of kimchi or soybean soup, and a side of rice. The meat was tender and clearly good quality. The banchan were a little different from other KBBQ places but were good in their own way. The seafood pancake had crispy edges and was very good with its sauce (not pictured). My only real complaint is the price point. Service: 4.5/5 Service here is fast and attentive. They cook everything for you and there is a call button at each table that rings the server over. Ambiance: 4.5/5 Good place to hang out with family or friends. They open pretty late so it can be a nice place to get food on later nights. This is also one of the very few places that grill over charcoal and have an overhanging vent (less smell on your clothes after). Overall Experience: 3/5 The only thing holding this place back from above a 3/5 is the price. We didn't order any alcohol and the total per person after tip was already over $100. I understand that the meat and service is good quality and they use charcoal, but it's not worth in my opinion compared to other places.

Yelp
Food 4/5, service 5/5, ambiance 4/5. Amount of food vs price: 2/5. We're from the Bay Area, CA. And been to K-BBQ there and also in K-town in Los Angeles which we visited quite often. This was the most expensive K-bbq I've ever been. Small beef combo $140, a small handfull cubed marinated pork belly $50, banchan were so tiny amount and there were 3 of us, it's almost impossible to get refilled as everyone was busy running around. Our cook was great! Food taste as expected, beef cuts were good not too fatty. Wait time was 45 mins on Sat night for 3 ppl. Will I go back? No.

Yelp
Food was amazing. I mean you can't go wrong with BBQ but the only thing that sucked it was that you can't cook you food like other places. I wanted to cook with my family and feel the connection but instead we had someone in the middle cooking for us. We just stay quiet and not felt comfortable talking. I also didn't like that they didn't had pastries or something sweet at the end of your meal. If I am paying $300 I would want something back like sweets! Other BBQ's would offer s'mores this place nope. Definitely recommend if you don't mind sweets at the end of your meal.

Yelp
Finally Boston has a decent Korean bbq (with Boston price). It's modern settings in a round table, and servers will cook the food. We came in a group of 5 around 5:30PM on Sunday and no line. Ordered a big combo and small combo of meat, and pretty full. Meat is pretty fresh and good quality. The atmosphere is fun with Kpop loud music in the background. Tables are apart from each other, so looking spacious! Don't see valet parking as the old izakaya place. Look for 2 hour or permit street parking. Would come back!

Yelp
Do you know how hard it is to find a Korean BBQ place with these kinds of grill in Boston? okay now that I have your attention. Yes, it's expensive. Everything in Boston is expensive. That matcha latte for $7 is expensive. Korean BBQ meat is going to be expensive. But how often do you find a wood grill set up like this? Food: Bulgogi was sweet, tangy, and divine. Can't knock the samgyupsal. They really go out of your way to grill your meat. Ambiance: omg they sing for you and have a birthday song?! They all come out and sing and clap and it's loud like a club. I kind of can't not love it. Everyone is in uniform. It's hot though so go on a colder night! Drinks: soju flavors were fire. Gambeh while you can! You're only young once.

Yelp
Most authentic KBBQ in town. Not quite as good as the KBBQ in Korea, but that's a high ask for Boston. They separate their beef and pork combos (a true sign of authenticity). Another nice touch -- they have storage under the seats to prevent your coat from getting smelly. And the vents are strong; a pleasant surprise! You can also expect your server to tend to the meat on your behalf.

Yelp
This is not Korean barbecue at all! The beef is like had been unfrozen and refrozen a million times before. I can taste kinda foul smell in it. The only thing which is good is the service.

Yelp
The service and presentation here is top notch. If you want a break from doing all the cooking with, come here where the waitstaff will grill the meats and cut up pancakes for you. Of course, this premium is built in to the pricing. Each table is set meticulously, and designed so that your server has access to all the tools and plates to prepare your food at each table. Korean BBQ is of course heavy on the meats, which is why the bonchon of pickled veggies are important accompaniments. Their kimchi, fish cakes, and eggplant are really good though and you may be tempted to finish it all even without meats. We ordered the large beef combo for a group, which was all very satisfying (although might've liked the marinated Korean traditional beef short rib most). Seafood pancake is packed and very recommended.

Yelp
Great service, good food, leans a bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. Recommended.
