Walked in around 6:50 on a Saturday. There was a sign to put yourself on the waitlist, but the lobby was empty so the waitress told me there'd be a short wait for a table and that she'd just remember me when it was time. Within about 5 minutes, the waiting area was filled to the brim with groups.
Flash forward about 20 minutes, people who came in after me are being seated and the girl who told me not to worry about the guest list had vanished. I waited about 5 more minutes before I realized I'd likely been forgotten and went to the other host. She apologized and seated me immediately.
I started with shrimp spring rolls, which were pretty standard spring rolls. The sauce was not my favorite, but it definitely wasn't bad, kind of sweet + sour adjacent. I also got a melon green tea drink, which I enjoyed a lot.
I couldn't decide which flavor dumplings to get, but luckily they have a couple sampler options. I went with the "top recommendation" Lucky Six which included: signature (pork), chicken, scallop, gourd luffa (had to look this up), crab meat + pork and then truffle.
I love seafood, but found the crab + scallop dumplings to be my least favorite as they were a little too fishy. I LOVED the truffle the most, followed by pork and chicken which were equal in my book.
For my second round, I went with another "Top Recommendation" (indicated by a ) and tried the shanghai sui mai which is filled with pork, shrimp, mushroom and rice. This was really good and savory, though not my favorite as I'd have preferred more meat and less rice.
During my meal, I dropped my chopsticks and was really impressed when my server came by right away and brought me a new set. However, overall the service was on the slow side. After I finished my first plates, my server didn't come back for a really long time, and after I requested the check, he didn't come back for over 20 minutes. I think he didn't hear me properly though, because when I asked the second time, he brought it right away.
The restaurant is clean and spacious and WAY bigger than it looks from the entry area. It was honestly kinda surprising. There's a whole downstairs with a glass room, and you can peer down. It was quiet when I came, but once the dinner crowd stared arriving, they put on some upbeat dancey type music.
I enjoyed my meal throughly and it's going to be hard not to keep coming back here as I try to explore the city.
