NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"If you work in Midtown, consider adding Nari to your lunch rotation: the Korean spot serves bansang, which are set meals that come with a protein (prices range from $20-34) like kalbi, spicy pork, and grilled eel with rice, a soup, and three banchan. At night, the dinner menu has things like beef yukhoe with pickled pears and buckwheat noodles, and a duck breast with buchu and confit potato." - will hartman

Discovered an exquisite dining gem during my business trip to NYC. Impeccable flavors, refined presentation, and an interior that radiates quiet luxury. Braised silver cod, sweet potato crème brûlée, and yes… a perfectly mixed soju-beer combo to seal the night. 🍶➕🍺 = ❤️ Who knew Korean flavors could feel this elegant in the heart of NYC? Business trip? More like a gourmet getaway.

Great place. It was two of us and we had the Kimchi Pancakes, Bibimbap on stone (+beef), and the diamond cut pork belly (perfectly grilled). Everything was delicious. The sriracha-like sauce was great. Nice ambiance, and overall a great place to enjoy Korean if you don’t feel like going to a bbq spot. Good value too (~$40-50 per person)

Nari served luxury on a plate. Every bite whispered “you can’t afford this… but you deserve it.” Every dish had a unique flavor. Kimchi aged better than me. Left full, and spiritually enlightened. 12/10.

The food here tastes authentic! As a native Korean, I really appreciate the flavors. The atmosphere is elegant but not overwhelming, and the staff is very friendly. It's a great place to enjoy a meal or host a gathering.

Had a dinner with friends. Food was really delicious and fresh, oyster and sashimi platter was so tasty, also recommend trying out braised black cod and braised prime beef brisket. Service was top notch!

The staff at this restaurant was great—super attentive, quick, and polite, which made the experience enjoyable. The restaurant itself was clean and well-kept, providing a nice atmosphere. As for the food, it was decent, but nothing really stood out. I wouldn’t recommend the tteokbokki I ordered—it just didn’t taste good at all. The rest of the dishes were fine, but overall, the restaurant didn’t leave a strong impression on me. It could be a good option if you're in the area and craving Korean food, but unfortunately, it didn’t offer anything particularly special to make me want to return.

I came on a Friday night 6:30pm reservation, arrived 6:20 and told the staff that my friends are running late but will be here soon. As I sat down, a waiter immediately brought the complimentary soup, but I asked him that I want to wait for my friends and want the soup to be served later. He kindly took it back to the kitchen. There were only 2 other guests in the restaurant, one was a couple almost finishing their meal. The couple left some of the food in their bowls, so when my friends arrived and was time to order, we wanted to start with just a few dishes to see how good the food is here, and order more later on. We ordered just 2 dishes, Seafood pancake ($23) and Galbi Sotbap ($45), witch came with small side dishes. Seafood pancake was hot, crispy on the outside, very good. The Galbi beef on the Sotbap rice was nicely seasoned, but some pieces were big and little tough to bite, I wish they serve/cut them in smaller pieces or provide fork and knife. For elderly people, this dish may be hard to chew. The Sotbap rice was on tougher side probably as the rice cooked in the iron pot should be, but it wish it was slightly softer. Overall, good dish and we enjoyed. After shared these two dishes, three of us were already full, it could have been because of the potato soup they served as a compliment at the beginning because it was filling. So we did not order anything else and left the place. The restaurant didn't offer a dessert menu when we finished the dishes. Maybe they don't have any desserts? There were only two more guests came during the entire time we were there. On a Friday night. We didn't order any drinks, because the drink menu were more expensive than we would liked. It was a nice, clean place, nice atmosphere, attentive staff, and we kept wondering why this place was so empty on a Friday night. There are plenty of room to improve, I think. I hope they get recognized by the foodies in NYC and thrive. 1. Potato soup is too filling. Something lighter may be better, or smaller portion. 2. Weird choice of music. Need to polish it up. 3. Food portion, utensils 4. Drink price & selection 5. Desserts?

Yelp
You wouldn't know it from the exterior, but this restaurant was so beautiful and clean inside. The waiter was so, so sweet and the food was delicious!

Yelp
I've beet to NARI with my friend for early dinner. We had kale salad, beef tartare for appetizers. The tartare was very fresh and savory. After that we had grilled scallop and marinated beef rice. The scallop was perfect temperature and fresh. On the other hand, the marinade beef rice had a combination of delicious flavors. There were good looking staff looking after us. I felt like a princess. The food served in that restaurant appeals to my palate. Aside the food, the atmosphere of the place is worth a visit.

Yelp
Ordered: Bansang Lunch Special - Marinated Short Rib (~$34): with multigrain rice, daily soup, house salad, and 5 banchans Aya's take: Nari is a new, upscale Korean restaurant in Midtown. It's tucked away and easy to miss as it's not on a main street but you won't want to miss this! Although I had ordered it to go, the manager let me sit in and eat it which was great so I can have it while it's super fresh. I will say their to-go packaging is perfect so it will definitely hold well either way! For the price, you might think it's a bit much for lunch but you're getting high-quality food and this is definitely the best Korean-style "lunch box" I've ever had in the city. The Marinated Short Rib aka LA Galbi was sweet and savory; mostly tender but definitely had quite a few chewy bites. The banchan was pretty good with my favorites being the kimchi and the marinated egg. I also like that they give seaweed wraps on the side! The atmosphere is well-worth dining in but if you're not able to, definitely try their lunch special option served from 11am-3pm. Check them out!

Yelp
Relatively new Korean restaurant in midtown west. Elegant and luxurious atmosphere. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Portion sizes were small compared to the prices, and food was overall decent. We started with fried chicken which we wish wasn't renders, rather wings and yellow tail which was a bit fishy. The duck and short rib were the best dishes.

Yelp
One of the best K restaurants in the US. Cozy atmosphere with amazing choice of music. Can compare to Michelin restaurant. The waitress and waiter are professional and very kind with warm smiles. Food are delicious. I had the eel rice bowl. Everything is perfect.

Yelp
A superb place for a date or a celebration. The food was exceptional. A very fresh take on traditional Korean food. The ambiance is very high end and the service is super attentive. I highly recommend the tea service.

Yelp
Elegant Korean restaurant that has a pretty layout and BYOB but with rather pricey dishes compared to the portions/taste and a relatively quite seating area that come together for a mid experience. $30 a dish. 3.25/5 stars as a dinner spot.
