The Best Barbecue in Seoul: 14 Must-Try Restaurants | Eater

"Naengsam (frozen pork belly) gets a bad rap for low quality, but that’s not always the case if you know where to go. Nari is a classic example, serving nothing but frozen pork belly for over 30 years in Itaewon. Good-quality fresh pork is frozen and sliced thinly right before serving to maximize its flavors and ensure fast, even cooking, creating a different mouthfeel and taste than fresh pork. Contrasting the old, worn-out appearance of the restaurant, the crowd is always a mix of hipsters and Itaewon clubbers, with a few celebrities thrown in." - Matty Kim

Frozen thinly sliced grilled pork belly KBBQ restaurant in Seoul, South Korea in the Itaewon area. We got there around 8:30 pm and there were about 11 groups in front of us, but we were able to get a table around 9 pm and the wait wasn’t worth it in the cold. Its other location in 청담동 is much better in terms of quality. We ordered three servings of pork belly and soybean paste stew. Service was okay and the side dishes were on the plain side, and they quickly refill them. Valet parking is available right in front of the restaurant.

Excellent pork belly. Lines start growing outside quickly so it is recommended to come early.

삼겹살 (Samyeopsal) Pork Belly + 순두부찌개 (Soondubu jigae) Soft Tofu Stew. The go to kbbq in almost all kdramas. Singaporeans are probably familiar with SBCD Korean Tofu house in Singapore but having tried a few of the tofu places in Seoul, I must say the soondoobu or soft tofu are really soft that literally dissolves once inside the mouth. The samyeopsal offered here were the ordinary frozen ones yet the restaurant is constantly packed at meal times.

Wow, I had to wait 1 and half hours to get in and my dinner with my girl finished in 37 mins. Its taste is like Samgyeopsal I had eaten at an old days.

I have been eating here for years. It's the best restaurant for chunggukjeon and samgyeopsal. Prepare to wait line, as this place is wildly popular. One of my favorite places in Seoul.
