I drove all the way from nyc to try this icecream. Its cute inside. I cant believe its open 86 years. Historical and iconic. The watermelon ice was the best I've ever had. Memorable. The peach icecream had real peaches in it. Fantastic. I tried so many flavors. All amazing. I had the tartufo. It blew my mind. The chocolate was elegance in the mouth. Id drive over the bridge and back into the congestion zone for that any day. Greatest staff. I need to try a cake next time.

Google
REALLY GOOD. I don’t normally like fruits in my ice cream but got the vanilla cherry. Was amazing. Also brought the rum raisin for my mom. She said it’s the best she’s ever had and i ate some chocolate gelato which was very good as well.

Google
It's a local favorite for a reason. It is the best Ice cream you can buy in my opinion. There are so many flavors to choose from, and even when is packed on the weekends, all the servers and staff are very welcoming to make sure you enjoy your tasty treat. Outstanding service. Thank you all at Nasto's

I’ve been going to Nasto’s Ice Cream Shop for years—it’s my go-to spot whenever I’m craving a sweet treat. The quality of the ice cream has always been top-notch, with rich flavors and a creamy texture that never disappoints. Whether I’m in the mood for a classic like vanilla bean or something more unique, Nasto’s always delivers. This past Sunday, I stopped by for my usual visit, expecting the great service and product I’m used to. What I didn’t expect was the standout service from one of the employees, Eileen. Eileen went above and beyond to make my visit extra enjoyable. She greeted me with a warm smile and patiently helped me pick out a flavor when I couldn’t decide, offering samples and thoughtful suggestions based on what I usually get. Her friendly attitude and attention to detail made the experience feel even more personal and welcoming. It’s that kind of genuine customer service that keeps me coming back, and this time, it truly stood out. Nasto’s is lucky to have someone like Eileen behind the counter.

You have to come try this place out if you’re in Newark. It’s a local favorite. Always packed on weekends. There are so many flavors to pick from and each one of them unique and tasty. The blackberry one has the perfect tartness. I combine it with the mudslide which is a chocolate flavor one. The servers are efficient but also friendly. They also have packaged cartons as well as ice cream cake and tartufos.

Google
Absolutely loved Nasto's Ice Cream! I recently got one of their big ice cream cakes, and it was fantastic. The quality was top-notch, and the taste was incredible. Plus, the price was unbelievably reasonable at just under $35. You really can't go wrong with that! Five stars all the way!

Came here Sunday evening all the way from Bayonne to bring my family because I stumbled across this place last year and I enjoy the almond crunch ice cream (it’s great). My family likes the selection of flavors/cheesecake. But the girls that were there Sunday evening were RUDE & lack serious professionalism and customer service skills! They were extremely unwelcoming from the time we approached the door with nasty faces and rolling their eyes, only 1 young lady there greeted us and even tried to be helpful. I asked her name (apologies if I misspell it) Aleene I believe she was welcoming, helpful and accommodating while allowing my little girl to try samples. Those girls need a serious talking to because had I not drove as far as I did with my family I would have left and not purchased anything. 1 girl (dark hair, tan possibly Hispanic) attitude was atrocious! She rolled her eyes at us the entire time and was blatantly rude to my aunt when she asked a question about an item to purchase. But that was my last time patronizing this business because the girls were unwelcoming at our last visit also! (not rude at that time just not inviting demeanor into the store) no one deserves to be treated that way, but especially not a customer. Have them do better please!

Yelp
I was able to sample five of their tartufos here. They had a number of different sweet options that included cakes, tortonis, spumonis, and more. The five flavors of tartufo I tried are below along with my thoughts on each. All of the ice cream was very fulfilling. Pistachio - This was my favorite. It was great with tons of flavor and a creamy texture. Traditional - It was very good, with the presence of nuts adding a nice crunch and a hint of cinnamon. It felt like a classic treat done right. Peanut Butter - Unfortunately, this one was a bit disappointing. There was not enough peanut butter flavor, making it feel a bit weak. It lacked the strong, creamy peanut butter taste I was expecting. Mango with White Chocolate - This was decent, though I did not find it to be a great combination. The sweetness of the mango conflicted a bit with the richness of the white chocolate. It was not bad, just not my favorite mix. Cappuccino - I am not a huge fan of cappuccino and coffee flavored items, but this was not bad. Will I go back? Yes.

Yelp
Fresh pineapple, sweet corn, and fresh cantaloupe were the flavors that warrant 5 stars for this corner creamery in Newark. All the flavors were there , not just a hint, but also not overpowering . Creamy but not gaggy-creamy if you get what I mean LOL They have freezers offering ice cream cakes , cannolis, tartufo, frozen cream cheese pies. They also sell ice cream to go in pints and half gallons. Cash, credit, and Apple Pay. Street parking. Service was friendly and fast. Interior is nice and clean, and bright. 10/10

Yelp
I had chocolate mousse cake for dessert at Clarizio's in Freehold about 10 days ago. My husband and I shared it and it was delicious . We scraped the dish it was so good. So I asked the waiter where it came from. The next day I called Nastos and the owner called me back and I asked him where else he serviced restaurants near me in Spring Lake. He told me. But I celebrated my 84th birthday on Saturday with a wonderful Beef Wellington meal with my family and a surprise dessert of Nasto's chocolate mousse cake which my son got at Nasto's in Newark . And everyone said it was just as good as I said it was. Carolyn B.

Yelp
Okay, let me start by saying that this place has the best whipped cream ever. I don't know their exact recipe but it is real cream and it is phenomenally delicious, not too sweet, and just the way I like it. I would be back just for that! We went here after a leisurely dinner last night, even though the skies were threatening rain. I pulled up near the place and couldn't get a parking spot, so my friend jumped out to go in and get us stuff. Of course Just as he walked in, the thunder, lightning, and a deluge of rain started. My friend got us two medium cups of ice cream with whipped cream. My chocolate ice cream was delicious but that whipped cream really got to me. I love it! My friend had to make a mad dash back to the car with the goodies but he said it was worth getting wet to get that delicious ice cream. Beware, the streets do flood around there. We found that out. If you're in the Ironbound and you want to have some awesome ice cream, visit this place.

Yelp
Have been getting ice cream cakes from Nastos for birthdays since my teenage years. But it has only been recently that I got to chance to eat Nastos' regular ice cream in store and I very much liked it. The ice cream flavors are basic and traditional, which is the only slight critique I have as an expansive ice cream eater who likes different and unique flavors, but you can taste the freshness of the ice cream at every bite. The biggest pro along with its taste is its affordability. Prices have not changed much in recent years, notwithstanding changes in the food economy, and this customer very much appreciates that!

Natalia N.

Yelp
My concern is - there are no listed ingredients. Not on an ice cream's packaging, not on a website ( the website doesn't work). I bought a pistachio ice cream - it has a good taste and structure, but a weird greenish color ( not sure what chemical is used for color), and the essence for flavoring is too strong ( no information about the essence as well). I'm not buying it again because I don't know if they use corn syrup or high fructose syrup or sugar, and how much? Their staff said they use freshest ingredients. What does it mean?

Yelp
Great ice cream and novelty take out. Supplies restaurants. But sells retail from Newark factory. Fast service.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream, amazing flavors, great service, low prices, casual but cute place. Definitely coming back. Bonus: it's close to a big nice park for the family.

Yelp
Ice cream cake was delicious. Service was excellent. What I like about this ice cream parlor they have been around for four generations. This is a family own business and now they have the grandkids running it. They have many different flavors. That you will not find the stores. They keep everything clean.
google avatar

Yelp
Can't recall the Ice Cream, but it was like a S'More Ice Cream. The other is Pumpkin Cheesecake. Both were 5/5. The cheesecake was my favorite out of the two. I'll be back.

Yelp
I was craving some ice cream, and found Nasto's nearby. The ice cream was delicious - I got half cannoli and half cookie dough in the medium size. My girlfriend got half pistachio and half cannoli. It was only $5.50 which is an amazingly reasonable price for the amount of ice cream you get. It was creamy and had lots of chunks of the different flavors which I appreciated. They also sell pints, half gallons, and gallons of popular flavors as well as a few pastries. Nasto's is definitely a must try for ice cream if you are in the area!
google avatar

Joyce G.

Yelp
We went out for dinner and ordered the cappuccino ice cream. It was delicious then we found out it was from Nastos and now we want to order it for ourselves at home. It's out of this world so creamy and so light and so delicious.

Nicole D.

Yelp
Best ice cream around. Nastos is a classic and my family ONLY wants a Nastos ice cream cake for any birthday/event. 10/10

Luana S.

Yelp
I walked in to get myself so ice cream and walked in to hear the OWNER of the store yelling and one of his employees and the poor girl left crying. I believe as a BOSS or OWNER u should not treat the people that work for u that way but most of all not some teenage girl! BAD MANNERS.

Yelp
With the weather getting warmer, it's about that time to post about how Nasto's Ice Cream is a must-visit if you're in the Ironbound. A nice trip is to enjoy some time at Independence Park and then stop by Nasto's for a sweet treat. The ice creams are delicious. They also have great sorbets (dairy-free); my favorite is the raspberry one, with lemon a close second. They have mango sorbet, too, which my dude really likes. When you go to the store, there's also a wide selection of toppings. I like rocky road with Oreos, or I'll go gummy worms. In addition to the ice cream and sorbets in the cold cases, they also have lava cake and must-try tartufo. You can buy the pints and 1/2 gallons from the store as well (you can get some of the flavors at select Seabras, but it's a more diverse selection at the store - at least what I've been when I've gone and then done grocery shopping at Seabras. Highly recommend and a must try if you've never been.

Do Not Worr Y.

Yelp
I went in earlier this morning to buy a bunch of pastries for a party and I saw 3 rats run from their freezers to their back room. I walked out immediately. Avoid this store at all costs.

Paul M.

Yelp
The ice cream is really good ... the old world, homemade, nostalgic ambiance is wonderful. The selection of ice cream and desert options is off the charts. Everything is made in-house and they also sell to deli's in the area. Worth a trip.
google avatar

Kaze Y.

Yelp
They have no vegan icecream and choose not to offer any in this new age. however I've heard their dairy filled icecream is good. Most family owned operated businesses sustain monotonous traditions but I wish they'd progress just a teensy.
google avatar

An S.

Yelp
I got half mango and half cannoli ice-cream. Pretty good size ice-cream for $4 something. I like the fact that it's not too sweet. Mango flavor was somewhat mild but still pretty good. Next time I will try pineapple flavor.

Pedro A.

Yelp
The ice cream is delicious, freshly made, homemade style ice cream I have most of all flavor I loved them all. The employees very friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Rich R.

Yelp
Great ice cream. I have never been disappointed. Whether taking home or eating here it's always a great spot. Hey have some outdoor tables and so you can enjoy on a hot day. They even have lava cakes you can take home and reheat in the microwave.
google avatar

Valeria N.

Yelp
Love love love. They have so many unique flavors. Nastos also makes flavors that are extremely nostalgic to me, corn and avocado. Where else would you find those flavors of ice cream? In Brazil? Definitely! In the US? NOWHERE!
google avatar

Jeff Z.

Yelp
Nasto's Ice Cream is an institution. We have been getting treats from them for as long as I can remember so at least 35 years. This is the type of family neighborhood place you don't see anymore. They have ice cream that you can get from the counter to have on the spot and a WIDE variety of traditional and extra special flavors to go that you won't find anywhere else! They also have tartufo and sorbet. In fact, they supply so many restaurants in the are with their desserts!! They even have delicious cannoli's!! Stop by for some ice cream or other treat and you'll see what I mean!

Yelp
I have heard of this place for SO many years, and only just got here thanks to a wonderful person I just met who apparently likes ice cream and the Ironbound! I am on board with those things, so over we came to famous Nasto's. Let me just be up front, the reason I am subtracting a star is the predominance of flavors with artificial colors, which makes me wonder how natural other ingredients are... I will let Nasto's respond if they read this! but hopefully you are willing to consider more natural colors for things! because then you can get a fifth star! Because one thing I love about this place - flavors that are Ironbound specific. I had sweet corn ice cream. That is not common, especially in the Northeast, but it just felt like something neighborhood would get around. Also coco loco, may as well have the ice cream with coconut and chocolate in it, again felt more local flavor vs. generic kid flavor. I loved the sweet corn. It tasted like corn, it had ground up cooked corn in it, exactly what you'd want that to be. The coco loco tasted a little more ordinary, but I suppose vanilla ice cream with coconut and chocolate in it is a little more mainstream. I'll take the hit for that choice and not punish Nasto's for it. ;) So yeah, I don't mind coming back here at all, but the colors I saw limit the flavors I'd pick. For now. Guys, come on and read this review and make me proud and let's get that 5th star in the next batch!
google avatar

Kelly P.

Yelp
Love the amount of flavors they have - including the fruity flavors. We ordered the pineapple ice cream and the graham slam, both were delicious. The pineapple ice cream was nothing like I've ever tasted before. It wasn't over powering with pineapple flavor, but it had the perfect balance of pineapple and pineapple pieces. It was subtle yet sweet. The graham slam tasted like I was eating a s'mores. The graham flavor was toasty and cinnamon like- but not overpowering. It had the perfect addition of chocolate crunch pieces added into it. Absolutely would rate this place 10/10
google avatar

Stephy G.

Yelp
Nasto's Ice Cream Co is your run of the mill ice cream shop. After reading the reviews I was extremely excited to try this shop and even drove an hour to try it! Unfortunately it fell far below my expectations, the shop itself is fairly large and covered in refrigerators. However, their selection of ice cream has no wow factor - offering your typical flavors, nothing new or exciting. I'm big on customer service and Nasto's employees lack it completely. The wait staff seemed uninterested in taking my order and were annoyed that I wanted to try two flavors before making a decision.

Yelp
Been buying their product for years.. very good. Sent them an email a short time ago in regards to stale product that I bought in Ocean County NJ. Their response was keep product which I kept and drive to their store with the bad product and they would replace the product.. Pretty great solution. drive 162 miles round trip, tolls and gas.. Ha ha.. I told them and they didn't budge.. I wouldn't buy any of their product again!! Customer Service the worst.. If you can't back your product.. it's not worth it.. Nasto's is the worst.....

Yelp
The spumoni ice cream was beautifully packaged. 8 slices individually wrapped. Reasonable prices.

Yelp
Excellent ice cream and desserts. Get four tartufo s for the price you pay for one in a restaurant.

Yelp
Excellent vanilla ice cream. Its my favorite and the corn ice cream is very unique, creamy and delicious.

Yelp
Rich, Creamy... family owned. It's not all sugar like other name brands. It's a beautiful place. Many staff to help with selection of choices. They have a massive fridge in case you want to take your favorite home. On a hot day, they have seating outside you can enjoy with company. Hope the family keeps this place open for another couple generations

Yelp
Best tiramisu that healed me 10% (which is huge) on a miserable day like this. It saved my night (as my day was terrible already)

Yelp
I discovered this ice cream place when looking for an ice cream cake for a coworker's birthday and I am so glad I did! The cakes have chocolate and vanilla as well as strawberry, which was a pleasant change, and they offer either nuts or crunchies filling. I also noticed they had a wide selection of ice cream and gelato in unusual flavors, so I purchased two containers to try (pineapple and banana cream pie). Both flavors were absolutely delicious! They were so creamy and smooth, I couldn't stop eating them! It is honestly some of the best ice cream I have ever had and I will definitely be returning to try more of the diverse flavors they offer.

Yelp
Tres Leches is the most amazing thing I've ever had. I bring it to every party that I go too.

Yelp
Doesn't it feel great when you come across an oldie but goodie !! I grew up eating this ice cream at weddings and special occasions !! You had to have Nasto's for your cake in all occasions . Fast forward 45 years !!! i come back to the area for a job and it's around the corner !!! BLISS ... been around over 90 years ! and they still carried my favorite treat . I bought a box for my son and grand babies to enjoy .

Yelp
Family owned and operated. Not your normal ice cream shop. Three generations of Nastos produce super premium ice cream and fresh fruit sorbets. Their frozen, traditional Italian ice cream novelties and cakes are unbelievable!

Yelp
After discovering Nasto's about 3 yrs ago, we have gone there numerous times. It it officially my favorite ice cream and I pick up two half gallon containers (two for $15) whenever I am in the area and dont have any at home. -ice cream cake: finally tried the ice cream cake this weekend. The young lady who assisted me at the counter was very helpful in helping me pick the color flowers and writing that would go well with the cake and I was overwhelmed with the color options. The cake was very good. For those that like Carvel cakes; they have the option of crunchies vs their classic cake with almonds. From my one experience, it seems their cakes may have a bit less frosting, but the quality of the ice cream is far superior and creamier making it more enjoyable to eat. Also their prices are reasonable and comparable or better than the competitor. I would highly recommend carvel cake lovers to try Nasto's ice cream cakes. Disclosure: I def do not work for Nasto's nor have any conflict of interest in posting this review. I just really love their ice cream and their consistently warm and courteous customer service. I have never had a bad experience with their staff and they have gone out of their way a couple times when I rush over to pick up items.

Yelp
I finally was able to checkout Nasto's last week for the first time. They have a nice selection of ice cream with some pretty interesting flavors. I ended up getting a tray of tiramisu, 2 half gallons of ice cream (Graham Slam & Holy Cannoli), an ice cream cake, and a box of the fresh fruit sorbets (orange). Most everything was delicious and everyone could really tell that the quality of the ice cream and desserts was higher than your average store. The Graham Slam ice cream was probably my favorite overall. I could probably do without the orange sorbet in the fruit next time as the sorbet itself was quite bitter...probably from the rind.
google avatar

Pasquale P.

Yelp
Old world ice cream is still pretty damn good. It's not what it was in the 80's when an ice cream cake was hands down deeeelicious. The new store has great choices but the quality is not what it used to be. The tartuffo ice cream balls, ice cream cake, and coconut sorbet are still some of the best around. This place is still the standard for the basics.

Yelp
Cute Lil quaint ice cream parlor. You can eat ice cream outside. Very clean establishment. On the corner of Jefferson and E Kinney St. Try it out

Yelp
Great local business in Newark. Family owned and operated since 1939. Lots of flavors of ice cream and desserts. They do good business for commercial businesses as well. Good in store service and very clean. Area store located in is also good. Definitely stop in for great ice cream to enjoy at the store or bring a pint or quart home for enjoyment.

Yelp
Ever been to a restaurant in NJ with tartufo on their dessert menu? Nasto's. Ever had ice cream for dessert that wasn't made in-house and it was just too good to be true? Nasto's. For nearly 100 years, Nasto's Ice Cream Co. has been the go-to creamery and supplier for restaurants all over the tri-state area. Their aforementioned tartufos are to die for, with popular flavors such as mint and peanut butter chocolate. Their ice cream is truly the standout, though, as it has a perfect full-fatty creaminess that always hits the spot on a warm day. Visit Nasto's the next time you're in the Ironbound, and your taste buds will truly be in awe of a truly great mainstay of Newark. Nasto's is great for a post-Krugs burger dessert or a standard summertime snack. A small cup with two flavors will more than suffice, or even one of their milkshakes is plenty. You may just be soon reaching for a pint or tartufo to take home.
google avatar

Yesenia R.

Yelp
Can't believe I had not reviwed this staple in Newark. They offer a variety of desserts and ice creams. Over 20 flavors of delicious ice creams. Staff is always nice only downfall is that parking in this area sucks and most of the time is non exsistent. They offer old school ice creams like the fruit ones that come in the fruit shells. They offer some unique ice cream flavors too like sweet corn. Sound weird, but taste amazing. A must try!
google avatar

Leslee S.

Yelp
I never went here before but I always had their ice cream since my family loves the "fresh cantaloupe" flavor. So today I finally decided to go here. It's a corner store so it's not hard to find. Walking in, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I got the coconut and holly cannoli flavored ice cream. I also got the lava cake. It's not really your usual lava cake where you take a bite and chocolate is just oozing out. Instead when you microwave it for 30 seconds or more it will ooze out from the top rather it being in the middle. Their lava cake was good though it was moist and just the right amount of sweetness. Will def come back!
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
Got some prepackaged half gallons to go. Upon eating I noticed a lot of air pockets near the bottom. The ice cream was good but it's a shame this tactic was done. Noticed it on both containers. What a rip off. Wish I was able to get better pictures Update. Management never bothered to reach out or return a call.

Yelp
Great place for ice cream been in here for the last 9 years and this place has never failed me I would get chocolate favors because chocolate is my favorite ice cream and it tastes so good 4/5 stars good for an ice cream shop in the Ironbound

Wendy W.

Yelp
AMAZING ICE CREAM!! my friend and I went on part 1 of our NJ ice cream road trip hitting up different ice cream shops in central to north jersey and Nasto's was spot 1 of 4. we got the sweet corn ice cream & cannoli chip - odd combo i know - but they were both SO GOOD. the sweet corn seemed to be an unconventional ice cream flavor but we were both very impressed; you could tell that it was made with real ingredients. both of the flavors weren't too sweet; they were just right. this definitely set our bar pretty high for our next destinations. the workers were very nice and patient as my friend and I browsed through all of their flavor options. when we went, the more classic flavors (i.e. vanilla, strawberry, chocolate) were at the entrance of the store and when you walked further in towards the end were all the various unique flavors like the 2 we got! they told us that we could sample as much as we wanted so I tried the avocado which was also delicious - smooth & creamy with a subtle avocado flavor. there's a few outdoor seating options with some shade | cash & card accepted | the only negative would be that you will probably have to street park and it might be a bit tough to find
