Google
This was my first time trying Detroit-style pizza, and I was thoroughly impressed! The pizza was absolutely delicious—I enjoyed it so much that I’m already planning to come back for more. A big shoutout to Nate, who went above and beyond by making a special dairy-free pie for my son. His kindness and hospitality made us feel genuinely welcome. The atmosphere was great, with good music that added to the overall vibe. Fantastic experience all around!

Google
Great Detroit style pizza joint with a huge selection of individual slices. There’s simply no wrong choice at Nate’s. I strongly urge everyone to try this place at least once and you’ll know what I’m saying.

I was crazy hungry, saw the spot and just open the door ... First thing I saw was at least 5 of my all time favorite vinyls on the wall like LCD Soundsystem, Velvet Underground and etc . So yeah I was cought :))) Then, they have amazing music and cute interior. I'm not very fond of this type of pizza but it was amazingly fresh and yummy with just grated parmesan cheese, right before being served and garnished with fresh basil. I had simple Margarita and tomato topping it had was just delicious. Service is nice and friendly. Well, happiness is a warm gun :))))

Google
Detroit deep dish made perfectly. The pepperoni is just awesome. Have to try it once Detroit in Brooklyn.❤️🔥🤩😘

Google
As a delivery, this has been the soggiest and greasiest Detroit style pizza. The whole bottom of the box was soaked in grease and the pizza crust that should be crunchy as Detroit style was soft and mushy. Granted this was a delivery from DoorDash but the pizza was not that enjoyable compared to other options in nyc.

Google
The pizza was good, but was not worth the price. I’ve had better quality pizza in cheaper places, so it did not fulfill my expectations. The slices were smaller than expected but it just tasted like a regular slice of pizza.

Google
Great pizza, I had the Hawaiian slice with added hot honey. There was plenty of seating since it was a weekday afternoon, but there are only a few tables. Service was great, very friendly and patient, explained everything, and brought the slice to me when it was ready.

Google
*Good pizza, but doesn't wow you. Simple seating* It's great to have another Detroit style pizza, in the neighborhood, but it doesn't stand out above many other places. If La Rose was still around a few blocks away, Nathan's would be second fiddle, but alas it is what it is. It's definitely better than Brooklyn Dop on 5th Ave where their crust is burned to the point it's difficult to chew, Nathan's crust has a nice crispy texture and flavor built in. Wish it had more sauce and boldness to it and a little more thickness to it like pizzas in Detroit and really separate it from a New York style. Comes across straddling the line to try appease to a general crowd rather than truly embracing its roots. Would recommend the Honey Pepperoni Pizza adding a little sweetness and spice.

Yelp
Never had Detroit style pizza before but after Nate's I'm a fan Can tell they really care about their ingredients, the sauce is bright and flavorful, the dough so stretchy chewy and soft. Definitely check them out

Yelp
New pizza spot in BK from a native detroiter. Owner was very friendly and the place had a cool vibe with music going and records covering the walls. Flavor of the pizza was good, but the dough was undercooked. As you bit into the square, there was a defining line to show the raw dough. Want to give a better review here, but I'm struggling given the super small slices, the expensive price (slices are $6-9, medium pies in the $20s, larges mid to high $30s), and the undercooked dough

Yelp
Pizza is good, dense and full of delicious and fresh ingredients, pepperoni is a litttle charred from the oven, the cheesy crust offers a salty yet smokey profile, but it's pricey! I do think it's worth trying, maybe take a whole pie home and share it with the family since the current space doesn't have a lot of seating. But I'd totally get if this spot isn't the place for you, I honestly prefer the thin crisp of a New York slice. Detroit style pizza fans will adore this though!

Yelp
I feel like I'm usually on top of new pizza opening in the hood, but Nate's is partially hidden in an old storefront, and they haven't replaced the old sign. Don't be like me! Come check it out, as with the demise of La Rose, this is the only Detroit-style pies available in the immediate vicinity. The shop is barebones, nothing but a metal counter dividing the customer area from the open kitchen (where the guys are nice, and working hard), but the pizza is good. These are heavy Detroit pies/slices, and be warned, they are pricey. We have tried the plain margherita, the broccoli rabe and sausage, the pepperoni (just a slice of that), and the Hawaiian. The plain was almost underdone, and in a surprise to me and my buddy who refused to even take a bite, the Hawaiian has been the winner. Something about the ingredients stand up to the serious crust, and it was the most well-executed of everything we've tried thus far. All in all, I like Nate's, but it's definitely not going to be a regular stop for us, as $48 is too much to spend on a pizza (before tax and tip), even in Brooklyn in 2024.

Yelp
For me, the pizza was 4 stars when reheating each individually. I think they would probably be 5 stars for a pie! (I'll update that when it happens.) We had the pepperoni, which for me was lacking a little sauce/a little dry. The supreme was very good - no complaints! I didn't like the truffle, but perhaps for me it was too truffle-ee. My wife loved it! So if you love truffle, definitely try it. Atlantic location is convenient and service was fast and friendly. Definitely worth a try!

Yelp
Nate grew up in metro Detroit so you know this pizza is true Detroit style. The crust here is so crispy and the dough is surprisingly light. The ingredients here also taste super fresh! We got a slice of the truffle, vodka and hot honey and loved them all. Our favorite was the hot honey because of the delicious pepperoni cups and smokiness from the bacon. We loved supporting this little business that now has a storefront and can't wait to come back to try more!

Yelp
Quite frankly, an EXCELLENT slice with quality ingredients. Robust tomato sauce, fresh cheese, perfect dough and crisp. Although tiny, it's a heavy slice... surprisingly. A cozy spot with close to an overly attentive staff, which is great for some but not for everyone. They explained each slice to me. But they can save some time by making some signs with the ingredients. Although the extra touch is lovely. But not everyone has time for it. A great new addition to the neighborhood. My main disappointment was the price. $8 for a slice, even in this expensive neighborhood is alot. Again, an excellent slice- better than most in the area. But $8 is pushing the budget for me . Would have got 5 stars with $5.50/6 like their competitors.

Yelp
Nate's Detroit Style Pizza is a game-changer! I tried the truffle and pepperoni slice, and it was absolutely delicious. The thick, square slices are perfectly filling, with a crispy, golden crust that holds up to all the toppings without being overly heavy. The truffle flavor was rich and aromatic, complementing the pepperoni in just the right way. The combination of textures--from the airy, chewy interior to the crispy edges--made each bite a treat. The flavors were bold but balanced, making it easy to see why this place is so loved. If you're craving a hearty, flavorful slice, Nate's is definitely the place to go! Will absolutely be back for more. Highly recommended!

Yelp
The last time I had Detroit pizza this good it was in Detroit at Buddy's Pizza, somewhere on the East Side near the Davison Freeway, if my memory serves me correctly. And the only things more iconic than Buddy's in the 313 are Heidelberg Street and The Schvitz (look them up if you've never been). This is not pizza for every day, or even every week - I liked the classic margherita a bit better than the truffle pie because the freshness from the tomato and basil helped offset some of the heaviness of the pie. The set up on Atlantic Avenue looks a bit temporary, so hopefully they find permanent digs, since this is better than any of the other NYC options out there right now.

Yelp
You won't find better Detroit-style pizza anywhere else in the city! Honored that I tried Nate's Detroit Pizza before it became a brick and mortar, back when it was just a guy baking some pies for family and friends out of a small kitchen in Brooklyn. I love these incredible slices, you can taste how much goes into each one through the great ingredients and artisanal toppings. This place churns our trays all day long and the crust is perfection every time! I absolutely love the truffle vodka and classic cheese, but try them all and find your own favorite! This is definitely a small business I feel good about supporting, also love his daughter's artwork on the walls! Will be back to try more soon!

Yelp
What an amazing pizza. The sauce is out of the world. After eating this delicious square slice you feel great too- the ingredients are super high quality. Perfect crust. They took the time to ensure the pizza was the correct temperature before they served. I was kind of a New York slice purist before I entered, but I think this is one of the best slices I've had ever. Owner is super passionate and it was a pleasure eaves dropping on him training his team on how to prepare the pizza correctly and treat his customers with love and respect.

Yelp
The best Hawaiian slice I've ever had. The crust was crispy with cheese. The dough was soft and pillowy but dense enough to make it feel filling. The perfect combination of sweet and savory. The pineapple was tart, but the hot honey mellowed it out. The ham super smokey and provided a savory element. The shop works in a now gone bakery. They haven't renovated, so it can be easy to miss. Staff are really nice. Perfect bite on a rainy day, possibly any day. I'll definitely be back to try their other slices.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious pizza (at least the slice we inhaled!). We'd passed Nate's a few times but every time we'd just eaten and were too full. Today we were walking around in the late afternoon and while we weren't hungry we knew we had to right our dough-based wrong. We opted for a slice of the classic cheese and it was one of the best we've had in a long time. The sauce was tangy, the cheese salty and stretchy and the dough was crispy and, well, perfect. The service was equally wonderful. The server knew that my wife and I were sharing, so she sliced the, um, slice, into...four smaller slices. Now that we've had Nate's we're hooked. Looking forward to trying it again. And again.

Yelp
Excellent Detroit style pizza and my current fave in Carroll Gardens (much much better than Baby Luc's.) Only open a few weeks and they should do really well. Excited to have these folks in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Nates Detroit style pizza was pretty good. The ingredients were top notch and the pizza was good just not as good as we had hoped. We ordered the plain pizza. The bottom and sides of the crust were perfectly golden crunchy. Cheese on top was caramelized and they had grated. It looks like Parmesan was added over the mozzarella and fresh basil leaves were on top . However, everyone found the sauce needed more taste. Seemed like very little herbs were added to the sauce. I'm also used to a thicker airier dough on my Sicilians. Lunch for 3 was over $50 because a 8x13 Sicilian pie is $38. We found it pretty pricey. If the pie was closer to the standard Sicilian pie it would be worth it. Definitely check it out, but you may want to order one with toppings. Also don't be discouraged by the frosted windows so even if you can't see inside it is spare, but welcoming some tables with seating.

Yelp
Best Detroit style pizza in NYC! Hands down! This is the real deal. Slices are amazing!! Truffle, vodka, Hawaiian ... all of them. Go get some now!

Yelp
Ok so after feeling guilty about my last trip here, I decided to give the place another shot. Perhaps the last time I was here the pizza guy/ counter person was having a bad day. So glad I came back. I ordered 2 slices of the pepperoni/sausage, and one slice of the regular. Now this is pizza!!! the sauce is flavorful and robust. The cheese and crust cooked to perfection. If you're in this area and crave seriously good pizza, then come here. You won't be disappointed!

Stephen R.

Yelp
This place is the bomb! I had two slices. One was the Hawaiian, fresh roasted ham with the pineapple. The other was vodka. Each slice the freshest, with hot honey, fresh parm and fresh basil. Each bite a little salty, a little sweet, a little spice, different contrasting textures each bite-crusty, doughy, then the toppings. Def recommend. Comfortable space inside, decor is cool, like the LPs. Guys who work there also very friendly and professional.

Yelp
The first time we had a slice of Nates was when we were at the Brazen Head Bar next door for a few beers over the weekend. I'm from Detroit, so I was curious about the pizza...and there's nothing better than beer and pizza. So we got a slice to go and ate it at the bar...and man ..we were pleasantly surprised. It was really good! On November 4th, after a long hard day of work, neither of us wanted to cook. We decided we wanted to treat ourselves to Nate's pizza and ordered delivery. Well, much to our dismay, the Doordash guy delivered our pizza completely destroyed! He handed us the box vertically and told us it was fine. (See photo). We called Nate's and told them what happened and they were so apologetic, they told us that they would remake the pizza and deliver it in an Uber right away. The pizza came to us in absolute perfection (2nd photo)...and it tasted amazing! We were so grateful. It was actually our wedding anniversary that day and we had no special plans because it was a work night. Nate's pizza saved our anniversary! Thank you so much! We are your loyals fans now!

Rik K.

Yelp
Nate's is located on Atlantic about a block from the Trader Joe's on Court Street. It was hard to find the place because there doesn't seem to be any signage outside. I literally opened a door and inside was this shop making pizzas! Reminded me of a bakery selling croissants as opposed to a pizza place. They had an extensive number of different squares on display so I went and ordered a Pepperoni and a Hawaiian slice. I saw the pieces were really, really small compared to other Pizzas I have had. I figured that it might be cheaper then. Wrong. The pepperoni is $6.50 per slice and the Hawaiian is $8.00. The flavors were pretty good. However the slices were way too small for the amount charged IMHO. For example Prince Street Pizza's slices are 2x larger than these. In fact after I had the slices and paid, the total came to $15.24.. I was still hungry and had to get more food elsewhere. Maybe it's way more expensive to make a Detroit style slice? Who knows but I know that at the price to size ratio- doesn't seem like I can afford to eat Detroit style pizza!
google avatar

Pat L.

Yelp
Truly fantastic pizza, we tried 3 different types of slices and loved every one. It's a tiny place with a cool vibe, and very quick service. It can be a bit hard to spot as they don't have much of a sign, but definitely worth hunting for.
google avatar

Warren M.

Yelp
Great slices, great people. Get that hot honey. If you are a music fan, expect to stay a while. Nate has a lot of great records on deck too.

Yelp
A welcome addition to ho-hum Cobble Hill. Not your average pizza. Multi-layered flavors. Crispy crust, juicy middle and seriously addictive.

N B.

Yelp
This is not like other pizza you've had before. What Nate brings to the NY pizza scene is a passion, love, and creativity that is evident in every bite. The cheese and crust is crisped to perfection on the edges - so much so that this "middle piece" reviewer would fight for an edge. The BEC is a delicious and well balanced homage to the classic NY breakfast sandwich, and tastes like your favorite deli BEC pizza-fied. The Hawaiian. Oh my word, the Hawaiian. The ham is juicy and obviously well selected, the pineapple juicy and caramelized, leaving this pizza with a sweet-salty finish that I have never tasted before. Hawaiian-haters beware: this will convince you to put pineapple on your pizza and wonder why you ever thought it wouldn't work. This is a MUST stop that will leave you hungry for me. Take your parents here, take your friends here, take yourself here, stop not being here.
google avatar

Kate B.

Yelp
This place rules. My husband and I live across the street and finally tried it. This neighborhood has a lot of pie and slice spots, they are all decently good. But Nate's is memorable, really delicious high quality ingredients. The crust is crispy and not too heavy. The cheese is fresh but melty with a good pull, and the tomato sauce is excellent. I am not usually a pepperoni or bacon on pizza lover, but the hot honey pizza was insanely good. The plain pizza was also fantastic. Honestly much better than f&f, Baby Luke's, Table 87, and all the other local competitors. Go here!
google avatar

Marck A.

Yelp
Very delicious pie. Very hard to find a good Sicilian pizza. Crust was perfect. Congrats!!

L E.

Yelp
I have now been to Nate's Detroit Pizza twice. Please take my word for it. Once you try this pizza, you won't be able to stop eating it. I travel down to Brooklyn from Westchester (fighting the BQE traffic) to get this pizza - it is THAT good! It is not only outstanding, it is really something special. It is tasty and crispy. Plain Detroit slice, pepperoni slice, supreme slice. Try the hot honey also. Nate has spent many months refining his recipes and the final product shows. If you are lucky enough to live in the downtown Brooklyn area, you are denying yourself of something really special if you don't give it a try. And if you are not, you should definitely make the trip. He will welcome you and you can also have it delivered. You won't regret it!

Yelp
Excellent pizza. Welcome addition to the neighborhood. If you're looking for detroit style then it's your best bet

Lucarus100 ..

Yelp
I love Detroit style pizza ever since Lions, Tigers and Squares opened on 23rd Street and 8th Ave in NYC. I was excited to hear another one open in NYC and I was looking forward to trying the pizza. I was also curious if it would match up with the other Detroit style pizza places that already firmly established here in NYC like Ace's, Emmy and LTS. Upon approaching the pizza place, I saw a sign that says "Best pizza in NYC" and I think it's one of the worst things a pizza place can say for a multitude of reasons for which I will not get into. It's also a sign that your pizza might not be as good as the owner claims to be The variety of slices was nice and the staff was friendly. The inside of the place looks nice. I ordered a cheese slice to test if the pizza is any good. After a bite and I knew I was right. It wasnt very good aside from the sauce which was good. It felt eating a margherita slice rather than a Detroit style slice. It's nowhere in the league of the other Detroit style pizzas in NYC and no way this is the best pizza in NYC .

David W.

Yelp
Ok it's legit the best Detroit slice I've had. I had the vodka slice and it is really good. Perfect balance of the crispy crust with the chew of the dough. The cheese is mozz (no salty Midwestern-y fake cheese) and the red sauce is on point. Topped with fresh parm shavings and basil. It's pricey - $6 for a pretty smallish slice - and still it's that good. Can only describe it as an unctuous but not sloppy slice that's as good as any Sicilian-type slice I've had.

H.P. B.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the pizza here. Not your traditional Sicilian slice but in a good way. The fresh basil really adds the final touch. Will definitely be stopping by again when in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Drew L.

Yelp
Had the last two regular slices of the night. Delicious and full-bodied from the first bite. I've never had this style of pizza, not even in Detroit. Great mouth feel and rich, tangy flavor. Just when you think you've had all the great pizza in the world, Nate's comes along. Great people, too!

Meg K.

Yelp
Picked up Nate's earlier today and I have to give a huge shoutout to their customer service. When I got home, I realized one of the slices I paid for wasn't in the box, and when I called Nate's back, they actually sent the slice (plus an extra) via delivery within minutes-- super kind of them. The pizza is excellent. We got the Supreme and a Hot Honey, and both were terrific. Looking forward to being repeat customers here.
google avatar

Randall M.

Yelp
I made a trip to Marshall's today, and I discovered that I was near a new, highly touted Pizza shop. Nate's is a bit complicated to find, and the door tricky to open. I grabbed two slices, and then I sat at the communal table. The slices were a bit small for my taste, and the crust a bit charred. The sauce, however, was well made. My bill with a bottle of water was $14.08. Thank U next!

Tanner L.

Yelp
Had to wait for over an hour for our pizza, even though he said it would take 20-25 minutes (which had me skeptical right away, because a proper Detroit style pizza takes time, unless they are partially prebaking the crust, which they hadn't...). But I was hopeful that it would be worth the wait. Unfortunately, it was not! It was super expensive and the dough was just not great--not fully cooked, so it was gooey in the middle, forming that weird tacky layer where the cheese melds with raw dough. (Native Detroiter here, btw, and I LOVE a good Detroit-style pizza.) For the price (which is VERY high) Emmy Squared is WAY better. And hands down I would order Jet's instead of this--because Jet's pizza is actually better and the price is less than half!! Sorry I can't give this place love... I just don't buy it as Detroit style, tbh. Maybe if the guy were a native Detroiter, he might have captured the essence, but this is a miss, I'm afraid.

Jodi N.

Yelp
First I have to call out that I have no affiliation with Nate's and am a brand new customer. We accidentally ordered from the wrong location and unbelievably - they paid for an uber to deliver the pizza to my family PLUS added extras for us!! That alone makes it 5 stars. BUT...rated on just the taste?? We have a new Brooklyn favorite and it's Detroit!! It was so delicious. We had hot honey, vodka truffle and garlic knots. Insane. I'm a new fan - love the pizza, love being treated like a valued customer.

Michael B.

Yelp
5 star pizza, 1 star price. The pizza is great, but WAY too expensive. $45 is crazy for a pizza. Baking it in a pan with some olive oil doesn't justify that price, not for something made with floor, mozzarella, and tomato sauce. It's a shame, cause it's good, but no way a pizza should cost more than a steak.
google avatar

n y.

Yelp
Delicious! Have had Detroit-style pizza at a few different places in different cities (none Detroit, sadly), and this was my favorite so far! The dough was especially good, light and crispy. According to Nate himself, who we talked to, it's a special starter that is 6 yrs old. However he does it, it works!
google avatar

Yelp
amazing! phenomenal! speechless....this is THE best detroit-style pizza i ever had in nyc, nate ? is one of the most nicest people i've ever met and i felt so welcomed coming in, the communal atmosphere via grouped tables made me feel like i was at one big pizza potluck lol, i've been raving abt this pizza to everyone! just go...once you take a bite you'll be addicted, i love it! to master something as simple as a cheese square ? in awe

Yelp
Checked out the famous Detroit pizza today and it was so delicious. It was my first experience with Chicago style and it did not disappoint. I tried the plain cheese but when it came out of the oven and was dusted with some grated cheese, Marzano tomato & a fresh fat basil leaf it was more than I expected. The crust was so perfect - crispy, crunchy & with just the right ratio of cheese to sauce. This pizza place really rocks! A great addition to this neighborhood.

Ken N.

Yelp
Ive gotten delivery twice. First I got Hawaiian then later got Vodka and truffle. The toppings and flavor is on point. But all slices were victim to soggy bottoms, both deliveries. I assumed the first time might have been due to too much liquid from the toppings. But upon closer examination, I think there are two factors. One, I think it's slightly under cooked and you can tell by the doneness of the dough under the cheese. And it's perfect for their by the slices, where they reheat the slices before serving. Secondly, I think there's a flaw in their delivery boxes. They put a foil under the pizza which seems like a good idea but it essentially allows any oil or liquid to pool up. The foil each time was wet to the touch. Really disappointing, I want to love these pies as I'm a huge fan of Detroit slices. I tried to give them a second chance and they failed me both times. Luckily there are other Detroit slices nearby. My hope is they read these reviews and adapt accordingly.

Alice G.

Yelp
What a surprise to grab a slice at a pop-up and fall in love with pizza all over again. Cheesy, crunchy outer crust, like the edge of a great grilled cheese. Big tomato and cheese bites throughout the rest. I'll be back soon.

Brianna B.

Yelp
I ordered on Uber eats .Ordered the Hawaiian , pepperoni & plain pizza slice . They were all really good pepperoni was my favorite 10/10 this will be my new go to place for pizza from now on

Marc V.

Yelp
Highly recommended! Just delicious Detroit-style pizza. My favorites are the cheese & the truffle.

Sai Y.

Yelp
Delicious pizza, but they need to update their hours because it's not accurate. I called them around 12:15-12:30pm (it says they open at 12) on Tuesday and Thursday, and it always goes to voicemail. They need to update their hours to the times that they're actually open so I know when I can actually grab a slice. Otherwise, their pizza is fantastic and my favorite in the area. The vodka slice is absolutely divine.

Jason F.

Yelp
Incredible pizza. Awesome people. It's more than worth your time. Some of the best in the NYC area.

Christine K.

Yelp
This place is is delicious. That it. It's crispy which it should be, it's not burnt. It's made with only quality ingredients. The first time I walked in I had a cheese slice it was so good I had to try truffle slice. I am now hooked. I am so hooked in order not to go into this place, I have to walk across the street to avoid it. If you a truffle lover, you need to try this, and no it's not too expensive, there is lots of food in this area that is expensive and completely not worth. You get what you pay for. Anyone who doesn't think this is good pizza definitely doesn't know food and with all the high-priced pizza establishments in this area it is inconceivable that you should complain about a slice of the most terrific pizza you will ever eat. Also Ivan and Nate a both very nice and personable. I can't wait until you find a permanent home. Good Luck

Steven D.

Yelp
This pizza was incredible, easily the best Detroit pizza in NYC. Service was fast and excellent, I even got to meet Nate

Kevin N.

Yelp
There was a lot of attitude at the counter for pizza that was mid at best. They let bit of insta fame get to their heads. There's better pizza in the area. don't believe the hype.
