The 18 Best Restaurants in Tulsa, Oklahoma | Eater

"Tucked away in a suburban shopping center, Natv is a one of a kind restaurant worth seeking out. Though Oklahoma is home to nearly 40 federally recognized Native American tribes, Native cuisine isn’t widely represented in the culinary landscape. Chef Jacque Siegfried (Shawnee) set out to change that when she opened Natv in 2022. The James Beard semifinalist seeks to offer a blend of traditional Native dishes, such as pashofa (soupy pork and hominy) and modern hybrids like shredded bison tacos, all while sourcing ingredients from local farms and tribes." - Jess Brent

I found this place to be particularly interesting not only was the staff very friendly and helpful but the whole vibe of the restaurant was good. The blackberry mint lemonade was so delicious and refreshing. The fry bread is a must try(one of my new favorites)! It's so flaky soft and crispy with dipping sauce makes it spectacular (I ordered the vegan version). Also got a few of their other vegan choices (vegan tacos) I already do a little dance when I eat something yummy but if it makes you fist fight the air or do the Hercules clap, you know it's good! They custom made one of the desserts to fit my dietary lifestyle choices (vegan) the blue corn mush. It wasn't my favorite thing from them that I tried but still not bad especially because it comes with fresh fruit. They made my non-vegan fur-baby Chica a little something too and she loved it! We requested no seasonings on it(It was her first time trying bison). It's a small restaurant that left a big impression in a wonderful way. Thank you Natv! ***Just a note update*** so I tried the blue corn mush again but this time I still had it vegan and when I got home I added agave syrup to it to replace the honey that was missing and paired it with some vegan vanilla ice cream (because one of the employees said that she normally has it with ice cream) Oh my goodness! The difference between before and now.... I'm a fan now and I see what they are talking about. If you like cobbler and ice cream or pie and ice cream (who doesn't) then I'm sure that you will like this.

The food was above average. The fry bread was amazing actually. The staff were snobby and the prices a little high. Plates are small. I think they are trying to market themselves as high class dining and even seem to prefer reservations. However, the facilities are low class: from the low quality paper menus, the paper napkins, to the small and run down facility. If you are trying for high class, you can't create such a lackluster experience. It would behoove them to come down to earth a little. My suggestion would be to retrain the staff to be more inviting and not so snooty.

Google
We got the: salmon entree, steak entree, bison and pork belly burger entree, and the seared trout. It was all prepared fresh and plated so pretty it was surprising we weren't at a super fine dining establishment. (Granted the food all took a little while but these were some complex dishes.) Everything was very delicious. For dessert, we tried the corn cheesecake and berry cobbler. The berry cobbler was very sweet but good. The corn cheesecake was a bit more subtle and granular than expected but not bad. I'd definitely eat here again.

Really enjoyed everything we got, bison burgers were phenomenal. Wish there were more restaurants like this, happy we stopped by on our road trip!

Google
We had a delicious dinner and everyone working there was so nice! The salad with smoked pumpkin was fresh and invigorating. The bison entrees (poyha and gnocchi) had delightful layers of flavors and were beautifully plated.

Google
Phenomenal food and good service. Semi finalist for james beard awards. New cuisine but not difficult to understand. Fry bread with herb butter or wajabi sauce was a hit even with kids. They have a kids menu and were welcoming to kids. Can accommodate large parties and food was light, healthy but lots of meat options and never heavy. Would go again. Very authentic and you know is woman owned with nicely stocked feminine products in bathroom.

We went here on a date for my husband's birthday. Everything we tried was absolutely amazing, not just good. The waitress was a sweetheart too.

Google
A gustatory adventure. This is an entirely new dining encounter for me, and a challenge. My expertise is in writing subjective assessments of grungy little Mexican restaurants, where the health inspector has visited the restaurant more times than their customers. I also frequent monotonous diners with their greasy menus pages of fried everything, common burgers and frozen crinkle cut fries. I don’t shy away from sketchy little ethnic eateries in questionable parts of town knowing full well that I may only be one bite away from food poisoning. At all of these restaurants, dining experiences and the food are all very easy to describe. Challenged with describing the food at Nātv not only pushes me out of my comfort zone, it is far above my skill level. I realized I would have to formulate coherent full sentences using words like alluring, exquisite, luscious, scrumptious, succulent, enchanting and divine. Then some how work in delectable and marvelous. It is not going to happen. I don’t know what some of those words mean. I have seen them used in reviews of fancy restaurants that were written by renowned food critics. I do think that those words would fit nicely in describing the food at Nātv. The food is all that, every bit of that. There are quite a few uncommon menu items. Most well described, some foreign to me, especially the sauces. Opportunities for dining exploration. I know what the hell a bison is though. I eat bison! My wife knows what fry bread is. We’ll start there. To save you some time I am going to suggest four items that wowed us, two appetizers and two entrées. This is a good place to start if you have never dined at Nātv. If you are afflicted with veganism, you’ll have to figure it out for yourself. Appetizer 1, Fry Bread & Dipping Sauces, for the dipping sauces these are mandatory: romesco, wajapi and hummus. Appetizer 2, Bison Sliders with Corn Mush Fritters. Next the Entrées. Entrée 1, Shredded Bison Tacos. Entrée 2, Bison Payha. Bison Payha, do not pass up Bison Payha. Check the pictures, check the menu. These meals and appetizers are surprising and deliver on flavor. Enjoy! Friendly accommodating service. Simple décor, walls covered with scientific style botanical illustrations of native species. I was hoping that the restaurant would have the subdued drum beat of modern Pow Wow and chant playing but, the modern classical music, worked. Nice. Nātv, an amazing surprise in Broken Arrow, OK! I forgot to use the words lavish and gorgeous for the food!

Yelp
We made reservations over the phone and the staff was very helpful setting everything up. Once we got there at our reservation time our table was plated and ready to go immediately. Our waitress Dakota brought out water for us shortly after sitting down and gave us a quick summary of their seasonal menu items and a few drink suggestions. We started with a relish board and both of their seasonal lemonades. The relish board was good and had some very unique items like pickled berries that were tasty and had notes of cinnamon. The mushrooms were fresh and the meat options were also good. The relish board also came with fry bread and 2 dips which really stole the show! The fry bread and dips were incredible! I ordered the coffee crusted bison that was cooked perfectly and very tender. The white bean puree tasted just like mashed potatoes but with so much more flavor. Everything was seasoned perfectly but i felt the squash could have been cooked a little bit longer as they were a bit tough. The filet we ordered medium well came out medium rare but tasted good. Overall, our waitress Dakota was very accommodating, answered all of our questions and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was unique, fresh, and authentic with native options that i never would have imagined and the presentation was perfect.

Yelp
My wife and I dined at Natv for the first time this evening and had a great experience. Dakota, our server was great and the food was delicious! There are lots of items yet to try and we will go back to do so. Highly recommended @

Yelp
This location is in a strip mall with plenty of parking. The location is small with about 10-12 tables. We made a reservation as we were a party of 7, I don't think reservations were needed. The service was lovely and attentive. We tried a variety of items, the fry bread with different sauces loved all 3 of them. I can't pick which is better the white bean hummus, the honey or the raspberry, so yummy. The duck deviled eggs were excellent and creamy. I really enjoyed my trout and the black rice. My husband thought his bison was a little salty. I thought the French fries were also a bit salty. Overall, you will enjoy every bite.

Jessica M.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant in an unassuming stripmall. There are lots of vegetarian options with the option of adding meat to any dish. Of course my favorite dish was the deviled eggs but I also enjoyed the Wild Rice Bowl. Pictures show other dishes ordered at the table and they were all pronounced delicious! They have seasonal menus so there's always a reason to go to NĀTV.

Jessica M.

Yelp
Really good food!! Lots of gluten free options. The gluten free fry bread was amazing. Will definitely be back to try more options.

Yelp
This was me and my friends' first time trying Native American cuisine, and we thoroughly enjoyed it! We tried a bunch of different menu, including the fried fish nugget, pork belly succotash, fried bison steak, and fry bread with honey, and our favorite was the succotash. THe ingredients tasted super fresh adn the seasoning was just on point. Looking back, I only wish that our server was more informative on the menu and items we ordered, he seemed to lack explanations of different menu items even after we noted that this was our first time.

Yelp
We went to Natv for my birthday celebration, and it was the perfect choice. Our server was so fun and gave great recommendations. We absolutely loved everything we tried, but the Fry Bread cannot be missed!

Yelp
This place is awesome. Our server Dakota was very attentive, thoughtful, informed about the menu, and communicative. I had the succotash (and she brought me some chimmichurri to put on it), my guests had the Bison tacos and Bison chili. Those were all great and I especially loved the grape dumplings for dessert-very special meal all around.

Yelp
This place is really good! It exceeded my expectations. A friend suggested we eat here-there was 5 of us. I checked out Yelp and the reviews were mixed and I had looked at the menu and wasn't too excited about it (I am not a fan of corn, as most corn is GMO and not good for you and most of their items had corn in it). I decided not to be a baby about it and try something new! We went for lunch. First of all, our server was so friendly and accommodating. She said she is the sister of the owner and chef (the owner wasn't there that day, would love to meet her!). She told us about her sister's experience as a chef and how she got started with her own restaurant. They try to source from local farms and tribes. I love that they are so authentic. We asked her what was popular and she gave us her recommendations. We started out with the fry bread appetizer. I know that is not super healthy but it was super delicious! (I took some home with my leftover entree and it heated up well). I ended up with the wild rice bowl-wild rice, roasted butternut squash, roasted acorn squash, grilled corn (yes I had the corn and it was good!), black beans and wild onion. I also had ground bison added to it and it was great. It was GF/and also Vegan until I added the meat haha). I really liked it a lot and took some home. Some of my friends had soups and salads. Some said it could have been more flavorful, but I was really happy with what I had. I recommend this place, come out and support local and authentic!

Yelp
Rawness and freshness about the food that spirals the texture and flavor. Farm to table, from the earth. Pork and corn soup with subtle taste and aroma of pumpkin. Tiny dumplings blanketed with grape syrup and whipped cream finished with a bright happy flower. Our entire meal was just right: the right variety of different menu items, just the right amounts for two people eating family style. And just the right flavors, from the beginning to the end. This place is really something special.
google avatar

Lynnet P.

Yelp
I feel bad only giving them a two, especially since I'd give the server a 10! We ordered an appetizer and both got the soup and salad combo with each of ordering a different combo. The food was beautifully plated but the flavor (or lack of) just did not hit the mark for either of us. The only thing that was really quite good was the bread.

Richard M.

Yelp
Very clean, knowledgeable staff. The menu is very well thought out, and most importantly it was delicious. Will definitely be returning.

Yelp
We walked in on a Friday night and was told we needed reservations so we made one for Saturday night. This was a small place with very unique food. I got the wild rice bowl and I don't think I've ever eaten wild rice with texture like that, was very good. The lavender lemonade had a strong lavender essence I highly recommend this if you like lavender. I personally would like to see more Native American arts to the decor to give the place more personality.
google avatar

Yelp
Brought a huge group here for dinner and was so happy they were able to accommodate us! We had a funny and sassy server who made some excellent recommendations. Try the trout and get an extra side of the chimichurri sauce, so delicious!! The fry bread was a little different than I'm used to, we all said it tasted like fried chicken. But hey, it's a cool experience to try regional recipes. Great meal!

Yelp
I first tried their food in 2021 at the Tulsa Fair. The tag under their logo said "Modern Native American Cuisine" and I was immediately hooked. I tried their pork belly succotash with corn, onions, squash, beans, pork belly bites and bacon. The flavor combination was something like I'd never tried before and it was delicious. Portions were generous too! Their honey lavender lemonade was so refreshing and it had colorful edible flowers in it! Now they had their own location in Broken Arrow and I had to make the drive to try them. It was so worth it. I had their Friday special: Indian taco, beef hand pie and sweet corn custard. Let's start with the Indian taco: SO much food! The fry bread is so thick and fluffy and delicious. It serves as the perfect base for the ground beef, pinto beans, lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded (melted cheese). It comes with a side of sour cream and salsa. Somehow the bread doesn't get soggy. The beef meat pie is served with jalapeño seasoned fries (they're not spicy, just flavorful) and come with a side of sour cream and salsa as well. Finally, the sweet corn custard is a must-try! I love sweets but this was not overly sweet. It balances out with the whipped cream and the blueberries and blackberries it's topped with. Highly recommend. I will be back!

Yelp
We are crushed. We visited the area for the Cherokee National Holiday and toward the top of my list was to have an authentic Native meal. Unfortunately, Natv delivered an underwhelming experience. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. We ordered the Bison Tacos with a side of fry bread & honey, and added a side of corn cake. We were one of two customers in the restaurant, yet the food took forever to be prepared and arrive to the table. The bison is braised and served shredded roast style. The meat was dry, room temperature, and flavorless. There were no spices- not even salt. The tacos were topped with a blackberry salsa- but that turned out to be diced onions mixed with a purple substance that had no flavor. The blue corn tortilla was fine. The corn cake was completely flavorless. Again, no spices. It didn't even taste like corn! The highlight was the fry bread and honey. Outstanding! Fresh and delicious. Our server was friendly and polite. I really wanted to love this place and recommend it, but the execution fell flat. If they added spices to the meals and served it faster (hot) this place would be amazing. All the potential is there. The menu items sound delicious... if they could just execute them better. Sadly at this point, I just can't recommend NATV. And it pains me to write that.

Yelp
This was a new and fun dining experience. So different with unique flavors and fresh ingredients. The staff was friendly and so helpful with suggestions and answering questions. It's a friendly and inviting place. They have options for vegetarians and vegans. Their food is locally sourced. The pickled blackberries were so good and I have not had anything like it before. Check them out!

Yelp
We we're excited to see there is a native restaurant around here especially that we were here from out of town only to realize that food is pretty bland. We were disappointed. The fried bread is just tasteless. No salt no flavor. Even the butter sauce and the berry sauce that they brought in with it was tasteless. The seared trout wasn't so bad but the bison tacos weren't good. The blue corn tortilla that came with it didn't go well with this kind of shredded bison. The corn hush poppies had overwhelming taste of raw garlic. Their texture was on the dry side. Their food presentation was good though. Their bathrooms is adorable! Fully stacked with everything a person might need in there. It's in a cute part of town. Plenty of parking. I wouldn't go there again

Yelp
Ok. I give this establishment a 3, but we may try it again. Why 3?, well it was lunch time and service was overwhelmed. She was very nice and trying hard but she simply needed at least another body. The food.....we like the idea behind the menu and my bison tacos were tasty. However, the tacos were not warm and the beans in the succotash were really firm. Now, maybe firm beans is simply how they do it there and if it is, then the dish isn't very good. My suspicion though is that it was an off day all around.....hence the possibility of another chance.

Td I.

Yelp
For being relative new this place was exceptional food and service. Cozy atmosphere. The menu had a decent selection & I am sure they will expand as business grows. Healthy menu with fresh grow menu options ! I highly recommend

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant in Broken Arrow, the food blew us away. I read an article about this place and grabbed a BA friend to try it out. It's a smallish, cute place with a nice interior and super friendly staff. I had the vegan tacos - blue corn tacos with beans, corn, vegetables and hummus, and vegan succotash. My friend had one bite of my succotash and ordered one for herself. She also had a pork and corn (I would call it hominy) stew, which she also loved. We already have plans to go back and can't decide if we want to try something different or go back for the amazing food we already tried. The only thing we likely won't get again is the honey pecan cake, I want to try one of the lovely looking dumpling desserts.

Riberani W.

Yelp
Very interesting place! Small but cozy! Service was good! The server was knowledgeable about the meals! The food was different which means it was delicious!! I've never had a native American dish before. If you like fried meals, give it a try! The buffalo was meaty, juicy, and smelly (a good kind of smell) if you are a meat eater like me! Give it a try! It is a good place to try something new.

Kate W.

Yelp
My husband and I ate at Natv last week and seriously, we've talked about the meal every day since then! We simply loved it! We started with fry bread and roasted pumpkin salad, and then moved on to succotash and the buffalo loaf. The server patiently answered all of our questions, and we loved the nature-focused, low-drama vibe of this eatery.

Sierra K.

Yelp
Not only the best food in town, but the owner Jacque is a true sweetheart. The staff is great too. The inside is nice, and you can't help but have a a great time there.

Christy J.

Yelp
In a strip center with no ambiance but the menu prices are as if fine dining. Blue corn breading on fish makes it look old or moldy but it tastes oK. One had a dessert a grapedumpling $8 which had cute flower decor on top but wasn't big enough to share tastes.

Diane D.

Yelp
Exquisite! So delicious I wanted to lick my plate. I had the filet with corn cake, the filet was extremely tender and tasty. Nātv has become my favorite restaurant and I can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Sally G.

Yelp
We had the watermelon steak, the three sister's soup and the Indian taco with a side of fry bread. The honey lavender lemonade paired great with the meal. Lots of vegan options and everything was delicious!

Kevin J.

Yelp
Great food and service! We highly recommend trying this restaurant. Presentation is beautiful too.

Yelp
Best new restaurant in Tulsa. Maybe the whole state! The menu is thoughtfully prepared, delicious, and fresh. We had the bison poyha (meatloaf) with wild rice, bison sliders on fry bread buns, and vegan succotash. Everything was absolutely delightful! Coming back asap!!!

G G.

Yelp
Unfortunately our group dinner did not live up to any of the hype. It was understaffed and our poor waitress was pretty much in tears by the end of our evening. The premise is interesting but that was pretty much the highlight. We had very much looked forward to the desserts (lots of sweet tooth's!). They were out of most and the few they managed to pull together were disappointing and sad, featuring a melted blob of whipped cream on top. The food itself was pretty much inedible. We had 8 diners total and not one plate or item was palatable enough to even finish. The "wild rice" was over cooked and clearly microwaved. The gnocchi was brown and inedible and served with flavors that did not at all work together. The fry bread was old and hard (we know fry bread). I predict it will not be around much longer...

Caleb C.

Yelp
We have been wanting to try this place since we moved to BA a few months ago. Not sure if it was just an off night or what, to start I thought the whole vibe was a bit off. It felt like some sort of coffee shop or something, not really like a place to have dinner. I wanted to try one of their Lemonades but they were out, then we ordered the corn fritters as an appetizer and they looked amazing but were lacking in the flavor department. They were very bland. I was excited to see watermelon steak on the menu, but sadly when I ordered the corn gazpacho I was informed that and the watermelon steak was part of the summer menu which they no longer were serving. Our server then recommended a coffee crusted bison filet only to tell me seconds later they were also no longer serving that. So as we continued to look over the menu I ordered the white bean hummus and asked to substitute the corn chips with the rosemary pecan crackers. They were also no longer serving those... Our server was extremely nice and attentive, I really wanted to like this place but our first experience was a complete letdown.

Julie G.

Yelp
Tasty, unique, real food and lots of gluten free options including fry bread and cheesecake with friendly service. Yum!

Erina T.

Yelp
Amazing food and great service. I had the bison filet and it was cooked to perfection! My daughter couldn't get enough of the frybread. (We had to order another batch to go!). I highly recommend.

Bonnie W.

Yelp
Supreme-everyone has to go there and eat! We had Three Sisters Stew, Trip Corn Cakes, Honey Pecan Cake and Sweet Corn Cheesecake all with outstanding honey lavender lemonade. This place has something for everyone - but offers a menu not for 'fair goers' but for folks that want to try something different. After you have stopped once you will want to recommend it other folks and come back again and again, Easy to find and Sierra is a topnotch dining room waitress, server, chamber of commerce host and all-around All-American gal. Talked to a gal where NATV catered their party and they said they are trying to spread word as they will have them again! Tired of eating the same ole same ole? You will be amazed at how great this place is and right in our own backyard! Bonnie W.
