"We see your spritz and we raise you five of them, served in an enormous—and real glass—goblet that feels dangerous to pick up, even with two hands. The oversized spritz isn’t on the menu at Nem’s, so you’ll have to ask for it—and it’ll run you $75. But it’s basically like getting a carafe for the table. The all-day Japanese cafe in Williamsburg doesn't deliver on vibes like the other spots on this list. But if you want to turn the head of every person on North 6th Street, Nem’s is the place." - willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, will hartman, bryan kim, sonal shah
"Nem’s is a funky little Japanese restaurant on a corner in Williamsburg that does a lot more than just Japanese food. The all-day spot also has an extensive smoothie menu—colorful and complex, like an army of Erewhon copycats—to pair with your grilled fish lunch set, and a cocktail list, in case that lunch turns into a multi-hour lounge, and then happy hour. And if that happens, there’s the off-menu supersized Aperol spritz. It’s equivalent to around five spritzes, and comes in a real glass goblet. It will run you $75, and will briefly make you the talk of North 6th Street. Order a few snacks to soak it up, like some moist, barely-breaded karaage, or the yuzu tuna tartare with big chunks of avocado and tuna, slick with sesame oil. photo credit: Willa Moore photo credit: Willa Moore photo credit: Willa Moore Pause Unmute" - Willa Moore
"A casual Japandi bistro at National Sawdust in Williamsburg that also added an upstairs Japanese bar, Koi Bā Cocktail Bar, combining relaxed dining with an intimate cocktail experience." - Emma Orlow
"A 20-seat spot serving a Japanese–Scandinavian menu including smorrebrod (open-faced sandwiches) and miso-scrambled eggs, open day and night with an upstairs 18-seat speakeasy izakaya called Koi and an attached cafe." - Emma Orlow
"Nem's is a new Japanese-Scandinavian spot in Williamsburg that began as a pop-up called Nem's Smoothie Bar. It's open from 8am-10pm, so come here for all-day brunch, dinner, tea and coffee, and cocktails and sake. Once you're done at Nem's, you can head upstairs to Koi Izakaya, their speakeasy—we're sorry if we've ruined the surprise. " - Will Hartman, Willa Moore
