A very nice cozy restaurant, very clean, service was great nice and attentive. Food was great, hot and authentic flavors. Their twice cook pork with cabbage was delicious fresh cooked and it didn't took long time to be served, Kung Pao Chicken was amazing The flavors were well balanced also there was enough peanuts and spices very delicious. Overall great place to go eat there or to take out.

Wow was this good. And we ate as a big group in their room with 2 big round tables and lazy Susan's to pass a myriad of wonderful cooking. Smoked duck, sweet duck, cold smoked fish, cabbage with pork, string beans w a bit of pork, crispy sweet and sour chicken. I may have missed something! It was all really good :)

Google
Delicious and authentic Chinese cuisine! I didn’t take pictures of all the dishes I enjoyed but this is a great restaurant for eating with family or friends. Good portion sizes and amazing flavor. Pictured is the “spicy boiled fish filet” (水煮鱼片) which was savory and mouth-watering spicy, paired well with rice. Other dishes I recommend are the roast duck and the salt and pepper shrimp. Prices may appear higher, but the quality holds up. I recommend coming here if you want to try more authentic Szechuan style cuisine in Albuquerque!

Delicious food! Truly the best Chinese food I’ve had in all of Albuquerque. The vegetables taste super fresh and the dishes are so flavorful! The spice is PERFECTION. I had to order double the amount of fried rice just to make sure I had leftovers. I highly recommend. Service was excellent and restaurant was clean and quiet. The wonton soup was so fresh and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. The soup broth was so soothing. Portion sizes are GENEROUS, so it’s the perfect spot for sharing. Mongolian beef and lo mein were also fantastic. Have to check this place out and support local!!

Another hit on my culinary tour of Albuquerque. I ordered the Fish with Pickled Vegetables (C7), the Spicy Chili Shrimp & Pork Wontons, and an iced Thai tea. The wontons came out first and were fantastic. The wrappers were silky smooth, the spice level was just right, and the fresh chives on top gave each bite a sharp little kick. Light, flavorful, and addictive. The C7 fish was excellent. The broth had that sour-savory balance from the pickled vegetables, and the fish itself was tender and delicate. I really enjoyed the warmth of the ginger in the broth and the pop of freshness from the cilantro on top. It is not a fiery dish, but the layers of flavor made it deeply satisfying and comforting. A great contrast to the spice-forward wontons. The iced Thai tea tied it all together. Sweet, creamy, and refreshing, it balanced the chili heat perfectly and kept the meal from ever feeling heavy. Overall, this was an excellent experience, and I am already planning what to order next time.

Google
Very good food! The couple that own the restaurant were very friendly. I ordered the hot and sour soup and it was very good and fresh and had some nice heat to it, very large portion and definitely can be shared and seeing I was alone, I took the rest home. I also ordered general tao’s chicken and it was fresh and didn’t have that thick batter and the sauce was very flavorful. I will definitely go back! The service and food were both very good! Check it out I’m sure you’ll enjoy it!

Staff is always super friendly. The family style dining experience allows for the experience of sharing new or favorite dishes. The food arrives quickly, is temperature appropriate and delicious. The dishes are aromatic and flavorful.

This place is fantastic. Very authentic. 73 special fried rice 8.2/10 33 general tso's chicken 7.5/10 I really hope they don't try to Americanize the dishes anymore. Keep it real. Keep it spicy.

Yelp
Delicious food, excellent and quick service. We will definitely be back. Lovely, cool environment.

Yelp
We ordered shrimp fried rice and Thai iced tea. Upon searching the pile of fried rice for shrimp, I found 6 small shrimp--they charge $17.00 for this? I couldn't believe it so I called to ask how many shrimp come in the shrimp fried rice and was told it was 6. I expressed my displeasure with the number of shrimp in comparison to the heaping pile of fried rice in correlation to the price, and got off the phone. The lady called me back to ask if there was anything else she could help me with, and I told her again that charging $17 for 6 shrimp and almost a pound of rice is highway robbery. I let her know that I know that she heard what I said when I called. so her call back was unnecessary. The Thai tea was underwhelming. It was neither rich, creamy, sweet and there was no spice. The taste was old tea that was steeped too long with some milk thrown in. This is the 2nd and last time we will order from this restaurant.

Yelp
Heard this is a sister restaurant to sushi xuan (which is my absolute favorite) so we decided to check it out. Service was quick, friendly, and on top of checking in on us. Food was hot, fresh and yummy. Menu was small but all looked delicious. Restaurant was small but filled and still felt like a nice open space

Yelp
We got takeout for dinner for my husband and myself. We ordered Mongolian Beef 10/10 Orange Chicken 7/10 (not very orangey) Sweet and Sour Chicken 8/10 Spring Rolls 9/10 Overall a really good meal. My only complaint is that they forgot one of our rices. We had 2 fried rice but were missing out white rice. The meal set us back $60 before tip. We have some leftovers we'll eat for dinner tomorrow.

Yelp
I've only ordered food to go here. Service is usually fast and prices are average. The egg rolls were kinda small but the sauce was good. My partner said his fried rice didn't have much flavor despite ordering it spicy. My Kung pao chicken was ok it had flavor but wish it had more variety of vegetables it was mostly bell pepper and onion. For convienece we occasionally come here and want to support local businesses but we haven't had a dish that makes us crave coming back.

Jackie S.

Yelp
It was a clean restaurant that was slow in the day I went, which is great for me. The waiter was friendly and kind, and accompanied our order right away of beverages. We started with egg rolls, and I was disappointed in their size and lack of flavor. We order wonton soup, which was delicious and appetizing. But our house lo mein was short of shrimp and meats I've had plated to me before, and was disappointed with. Hope you all enjoy.

Yelp
Went back for another try, left quite disappointed. Nanjing Salted Duck - 2/5 I was able to eat a few pieces of this, but it seemed like quite a poor representation of the dish. This dish is supposed to be salted with Chinese pepper corns, anise and other spices. This one tasted solely of salt. No one else in my party wanted a second piece after trying it. Wor Wonton Soup - 1/5 Wor wonton soup is a wonton soup with "everything" in it. This one contained extra chicken, broccoli, cabbage, and a bit of shrimp. Unfortunately the broth was rather unpleasant. My partner, who did not have any of the chicken, found it unpleasantly salty as well. Seafood Bean Curd Soup - 3/5 A thickened soup with a seafood base, egg, and small bits of tofu. Plain and hearty. I enjoyed this one, but also found it slightly too salty. Beef Chow Fun - 3/5 A fairly standard representation of this dish. Thick flat noodles in brown sauce. Good, but my party also found this too salty. Although we didn't even come close to finishing the duck, the amount of salt in the food hit us so hard that we took a 4 hour nap afterwards and woke up still tasting salt. Not a good sign.

Yelp
I really like this spot for authentic Chinese dishes! We usually get just fried rice and some egg drop soup. But let me tell you, I think this is one of the best restaurants for these staples. The owners are friendly and welcoming!

Yelp
Orange Chicken was legit! It's a cute little spot that me and husband tried on whim. We ordered and food came out quickly. I've had a lot of orange chicken and by far this has been the best. Had a side of white rice broccoli. Must try. :)

Yelp
The staff is friendly, very clean environment and the food was simply delicious. Will definitely return .

Yelp
Love this place. Deliciousness served in a friendly efficient way. So much flavor.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Food was very good, service was pretty good, prices were a little high. The thing that I didn't like was a fly that bothered us throughout the meal with no acknowledgement by the server. Also there was loud shouting in the kitchen. The food alone would be 4.5 stars.
google avatar

Yelp
We got delivery. Everything was delicious. Finding good Chinese food in Albuquerque is always a challenge. Neo is the solution. Tasty food that is well prepared.
google avatar

Daniel L.

Yelp
The food was meh. Gloppy and uninspired. The smoke from the next door BBQ place was unappealing.
google avatar

Joshua Y.

Yelp
Love the food they serve. Staff is always attentive to their customers. Only downside is the BBQ smell from next door. Makes it a little difficult to sit down and eat sometimes.

Reese A K.

Yelp
Food was really yummy and the service was nice. Had some water while we waited for our to go order. We got the chicken fried rice, edamame, and fried dumplings and everything came out quickly and delicious!

Yelp
Wow ! Short review: Outstanding real Szechuan dishes as well as amazingly prepared Chinese family favorites! Long review/love letter to NEO: We use DoorDash a lot! Last night's DoorDash's algorithm served up NEO Szechuan to us. We'd never heard of the place. So I take a menu peek. I have been searching ABQ for my husband's & my 2 fave Szechuan dishes and WOW Neo had them & perfectly Szechuan spicy! The 2 Szechuan dishes we could never find Double Cooked Pork (Neo lists as 25. Double Cooked Pork with Cabbage / 回鍋肉 Dry Cooked Chicken (Neo lists as 38. Spicy Fried Chicken / 辣辣子鸡) PERFECTION! Tasted just like everytime we ate these 2 dishes in some tiny restaurant in a big city Chinatown (with friends who could read the non-English menus) AMAZING! As for the traditional Chinese takeout family faves I can say Neo's were prolly the best I've had in ABQ in my "whoa I order waaaaaaay too much takeout" humble opinion. 37. Orange Chicken / 陳皮雞 was the best I've had in years! And I have tried a lot here in ABQ! Big serving (not sure if the spice level is a bit too hot for kiddos but we loved it) 4. Fried Dumplings / 鍋貼 (potstickers) were among the best in town but the BEST find for us was 5. Spicy Chili Shrimp Pork Wonton / 紅油炒手 Insanely awesome! Like a happy steamed floppy potsticker mixing pork & shrimp in some incredible chili oil sauce! Droooool Perfectly super spicy And yes. This was a Doordash order DELIVERED! On a Wednesday night. SPECTACULAR! Neo is now our go-to place! Who knows maybe we'll actual visit the amazing NEO in person sometime. ps Sorry I only got a pic of the OUTSTANDING Orange Chicken (we snarfed so much fast )

Yelp
Over priced, and not as good as i was hoping. Originating from California, I thought it was going to kill. Too bad.

Yelp
Delicious spicy dumplings and wonderful BBQ tofu and pork! Tasty locally owned place for dinner!

Yelp
I like Neo Szechuan! It' one of the very few places in ABQ that I can count that actually offer authentic Chinese food! Sure, I can always have American Chinese food...but..once in a while...a spot deep inside of me..calls for something not super sweet ..and actually flavorful! That's where Neo Szechuan can come in. You can tell it's authentic by the fact that some of the specials on the menu are written in Chinese language. Now, that's confidence.beacuse only people familiar witth Chinese food would know how to read/what to expect! I had their Salt and Pepper Shrimp and Singapore noodles (sidetrack...which...actually originated in Hong Kong..not Singapore) and thought both dishes tasted wonderful! Full of spices that I had been wanting! I would have them again in a heartbeat..but maybe..next time..to try some other dishes like the dry szechuan hot pot, etc! Overall, great places for sure. It takes a while to get your food..but it's worth waiting. The only thing is...the prices aren't low either. It's definitely more expensive than what I was expecting. However, given the quality + taste...I give them a thumbs up! I can't think of many places that can do better authentic Chinese people than they do at Neo Szechuan!

Yelp
Great Asian food! Employees are incredibly kind! We loved going here! We went to eat Chinese food for our daughter's school experience while they were studying China. We definitely enjoyed they're food. Lots of options, all good!

Yelp
Chinese food urge - a place we'd never been to before and here's our stop. Little strip mall, fairly easy to find, plenty of places to sit. Menus are on the table, drink order placed. Drinks arrive and we get the Spicy Chile Shrimp Pork Wontons. Yep, spicy as advertised but delicious. Our entrees were the Szechuan Scallops & Mongolian Beef. They're served up family style with a bowl of rice each. Scallops are excellent, plenty on the plate nice sized - about 1" thick & as big as a $0.50 piece. Lots of bell peppers & onion. Again spicy - about a medium. The Mongolian Beef included a large portion of beef and a few onions. Also medium spicy & flavorful. The portion size of our food meant lunch the next day. They have a good selection but no lunch plates. So bring a friend and enjoy some good food.

Yelp
Came by with familia and I have to say that this was some great tasting food. We had the duck which I have never had but have to say that the familia loved it. Duck was tender and tasty and service was awesome as well. Fried rice was great with a wonderful tase along with the teriyaki chicken and vegetable low Mein's noodles. The family here was fantastic and the atmosphere is great with karaoke in the next room We will be coming back for amazing tasting food along with great service.

Yelp
We were craving Chinese food the other day and found "Neo Szechuan" on Yelp with great reviews. So we drove to look for the restaurant on a Sunday. We did not see "Neo Szechuan" so we left. We realized later that Neo Szechuan is actually Nio Szechuan:Asian Kitchen. Aaayyyyaaahhhh....which is it?
google avatar

Roman R.

Yelp
If you walk into a Chinese restaurant and see that over half the people inside are Chinese, then you know you found a good place. Neo Szechuan is Authentic, capital A intended! Want a flavorful, crispy orange chicken? You got it! Want spicy fried chicken? They got it here! Want a seafood and tofu hot pot that will burn your mouth? Done! This is, so far, the best Chinese food I have had in ABQ, and I would absolutely come back if I am craving it again.
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch. Very friendly staff. I had king pao chicken. My favorite Chinese dish. Their version is ok. I've had better. The sauce was true to recipe, I didn't like the chicken. Veggies were good too, I especially like that they kept the onion cuts large! Yum! My husband had low neon, his favorite. He didn't like his very much. We also had egg rolls but they didn't have the hot Chinese mustard we like to have with them. Not bad, not great, staff we're very nice.
google avatar

Aaron V.

Yelp
Service was nice kind and respectful owners, restaurant was clean and well lit, unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired as it was bland and the meat was chewy on my pepper steak, my Partners kung pao chicken looked gray and tasted awful. The egg drop soup tasted foul like it was cooked with city water! Would not recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
We are from California and just got to Albuquerque for the 2024 balloon festival. We were craving Chinese before all the Mexican we are going to eat. We found this place and are very very happy with the delicious fresh hot food. The restaurant is clean and well lit and the owner server was so friendly and efficient. We wish this place was in our home town. Definitely will come back here if in town again. All six dishes were spicy hot and seasoned perfectly. Loved it. Please try this family owned business

Yelp
Very good food! The couple that own the restaurant were very friendly. I ordered the hot and sour soup and it was very good and fresh and had some nice heat to it, very large portion and definitely can be shared and seeing I was alone, I took the rest home. I also ordered general tao's chicken and it was fresh and didn't have that thick batter and the sauce was very flavorful. I will definitely go back! The service and food were both very good! Check it out I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Yelp
Albuquerque isn't a big city and finding delicious Chinese food isn't easy. We love the food here and if you like spicy you'll get it. Everything we've ordered has been really good. The service is friendly and it's a comfortable place to eat.

Walt S.

Yelp
Today was the first time going to Neo Szechuan. I went with 2 buddies. The restaurant was brightly lit, small (10 tables) and very clean. They have a menu with plenty of choices. I had Twice Cooked Pork, Buddy #1 had Mixed Vegetables with Tofu, and Buddy #2 had Sweet and Sour Chicken. Everyone agreed that the quality of the food was excellent and everything came out quickly and piping hot. I thought my Twice Cooked Pork was some of the gest I have had in a long time. I am already planning another visit this coming week! Give it a try. This is not your usual Chinese restaurant.
google avatar

Brian H.

Yelp
Great food, it was so nice to have Chinese food that tastes more authentic and stepping away from the American style Chinese. I ordered delivery and was pleasantly surprised with the amazing flavors. I ordered Szechuan Pork extra spicy and it was delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
I tried Neo Szechuan Restaurant on Montgomery today. As you can see, the portions were huge and the food was "delicious." We ordered sweet-and-sour, chicken, walnut prawns and Singapore curry style noodles. Excellent service! * Ladies, it's freezing in the restaurant, so bring a sweater.
google avatar

Cassandra M.

Yelp
The food was amazing. The staff and service were excellent. The orange chicken was amazing. We will definitely be back.

camryn k.

Yelp
This is me and my man's favorite spot! Especially after the gym. Everything we get is always super delicious! Also the service is always amazing and everyone is so attentive and sweet. Super chill place but they also have a karaoke room which looks super fun! Can't go wrong with this place.
google avatar

Heather E.

Yelp
Very spicy, in a great way! Huge portions. Better to eat there than to get take out or delivery. Give it a try!

Linda W.

Yelp
Very small store front. Mom and Pop place. The food was exceptional! I ordered the Kung Foo chicken and "Mom" told me it was very hot so I ordered It "not so hot" and it was perfect. The service was great. The menu was extensive. Certainly a 4 star review is appropriate!!
google avatar

H. D. P.

Yelp
Great food. Original Szechuan Taste which can be a little spicy for many, but just right for me. My favorite Chinese in ABQ. Favorites are Yang Chau fried rice, mapo tofu, boiled fish in chef's special, garlic choy sum, walnut shrimp, black peppered beef, and I haven't tried many others yet.

Yelp
After my fourth visit, I'm ready to review. Nio Szechuan (as it's spelled on the sign and the menu, but not on Yelp) has delicious fresh food, and it comes out pretty fast. Service has just not been very good on the times I've gone (inattentive, understaffed, really poor English ability; today I had to struggle to not be offended by an angry accusation that I had not tipped when I'd just given a hefty _33%_ gratuity: the veteran server did not know how to read her own machine's receipt) and prices seem to be every penny high as could possibly be acceptable. The room is not cleaned as well as I'd like (I just saw the same grubby kid-paw smears on a window that I noticed here two weeks ago) and the menus are sometimes sticky but the server always makes sure not to touch your chopsticks as she hands them to you. There have been some funky smells (sewer type, plumbing not food related) on three of the four visits. A liquor license application is pending. The food is great, 5-star: perhaps the best I've had in this market in this particular cuisine (and the local folks who grew up with the cuisine are well represented in the clientele - usually getting to-go orders: note that the daily specials board are always posted in Chinese). The service and the room are not. I think I need a break from these folks. Hope the food stays the same and the service and room get better. But the prices had better not go up.

Yelp
I ordered the Beef with Black Pepper Sauce w Beef with Noodles Soup that was my favorite soup ever. Thank You. A customer from now on.

Damion V.

Yelp
there nice people but like I'm confused I asked for chicken fried rice they didn't give me that liek they gave me some noodles and chicken nothing like I ordered I'm just lost I was hungry for chicken fried rice like I wanted it so bad but nah they didn't give me me dirty

Debra L.

Yelp
Small restaurant, but real Szechuan Asian food. Look for Asian Kitchen sign over the restaurant, in same shopping strip as Planet Fitness Large quantities, so a second meal with leftovers will be available. We had fried dumplings, Hot and Sour Soup (really hot/spicy), Beef Lo Mein, and General Tso's Chicken. Very sweet lady as our server. Best we've had since leaving Japan.
google avatar

Alfred G.

Yelp
Finally a decent Szechuan spot in New Mexico!!!!! Great taste of China with various dishes ranging from authentic to more locally catered tastes. Nice and spicy and service was fast.

M R.

Yelp
Wondering what is in the Orange Chicken that makes me think of SoCal Chinese cuisine? Awesome food! My kids are all about this place and I understand why. So delicious! Of course we did the Lo Mein too. Amazing! If you follow my Chinese food here in the metro, I'm on the quest for the best. This is one of them!

Logan W.

Yelp
Gave this place a try for a later dinner and it was alright! Got the general Taos Chicken and fried rice. Both were bland for the price. The service was friendly and fast and the restaurant has a clean nice feel.
google avatar

Steve M.

Yelp
Good food, quick take out service. We had the kung pao chicken and chicken fried rice. Both were very good.

Yelp
What a wonderful place in a strip mall that caught our attention with its reviews in Yelp! Stopped by first for a paper menu then we went back the next day just as it opened. What a wonderful decision we made to go and and try their dishes. First we ordered appetizers which consisted if egg rolls, steam dumplings, spring rolls and cheese wontons.. the eggrolls were quite tasty and were hot out of the fryer served with sauce. The steam dumplings were fresh and served with dumplings sauce. The cheese wonton were delivious and were devoured within seconds along with the taste sweet and sour sauce that came with the dish. We had ordered sweet tea, Dr Pepper and lemonade along with some water and refills were given when asked. Which was very nice! Next the main dishes...we ordered Mongolian beef, beef chow fun, orange beef, shredded pork(Sichuan style),and Singapore style curry rice noodles. The Mongolian beef was very good with all of the fried onions and beef was very tender. The beef chow fun was great with its smokey flavor and noodles. The orange beef was excellent with its crispness and tangy taste if orange. The Singapore style dish was great with bits of egg , chicken, veggies and the taste of the curry was just right. The shredded pork had a unique flavor and we were told that it would be spicy but we couldn't taste the difference . Overall this was a great find with excellent service! We will definitely be back for more when we visit. Didn't get to take more pics because it was so good.. lol!

Yelp
Perfect! Needed some non-hotel food and always try to find something where the locals go. This is in a strip mall, on a major road through town. Easy to get to from downtown and worth the drive. Freshly prepared, familiar entrees and friendly service. Hot and sour soup was full of deliciousness and the #33 chicken with vegetables was well-seasoned and just right. So good in fact that we are making plans to come back during this weekend getaway. Also called Nio Szechuan.

Mark K.

Yelp
We are frequent travelers to Albuquerque and my wife who is from China, has been trying to find a good Asian restaurant in Albuquerque for 10 years. We tried this today and it will be our go to Chinese restaurant going forward. The food is excellent, and the staff is hard working. 10 stars on a scale of 1 to 5 stars!
