Great new space on Broadway for all your cheese cravings brought to you by the genius behind Rachel's Ginger Beer (and Montana).
Having been dragged here several times already within their recent opening date, I have to say Nacho Borracho has an awesome thing going for it. Ginger Beer focused drinks -- from the fabulously creamy, salty, frozen avocado margarita, to the El Diablo (tequila, cassis, rgb) on tap, to the seasonal frozen moscow mule of the day/week, to an ok (but heavily Mexican populated) beer selection. Wow. Good drinks. I loved the guava moscow mule, and pours were heavy on all these drinks. 2 cocktails in and you will leave more than mildly buzzed. Even with a heaping plate of nachos in your belly.
So the Nacho's? Well -- take made to order fresh chips, top it with the house made queso (oh so cheesy and sloppy), a healthy dose of beans or seasoned beef, plus all the fixins! (Jalepenos, green onions, olives, tomatoes, and my personal favorite -- habanero pickled carrots)! The plate is massive -- and should be for the $12 price tag. Be prepared to share or not eat anything else for a good 24 hours. The flautas are also worth noting -- nothing frozen here! Made fresh, hand rolled and super tasty hidden in a lettuce leaf with copious amounts of salsa on top. The guacamole is good, the sonoran dogs massive and overflowing with all the aforementioned nacho fixings, and the tater tots crisp and fresh.
Service is friendly and efficient, although only being able to order at the bar can lead to some wait times and lines. The space is large, though already seemingly overflowing with excited clientele, and don't get too scared when trying to find the bathrooms. Yes, it's a long dark walk waaaaaaaaaaay into the back, but once you find them they are clean and more than sufficient.
No happy hour deals ~yet~ -- though Rachel and Kate are planning on implementing one soon once the opening kinks get worked out and they have a good understanding of the ebb and flow of their lovely new establishment.
Here's to Rachel, her ginger beer, and her awesome nacho bar! I want to come back, and often.
