The Best Jewish Delis in Los Angeles, According to Eater Editors | Eater LA

"Spanning over 38 years of history in the South Bay, this unsung hero of the Los Angeles deli world serves terrific pastrami and corned beef sandwiches constructed by expert hands. The menu spans other classic deli fare, like latkes and bagels with lox, but the sandwiches are the best thing to eat, evidenced by the regulars who seem to come in every week. Don’t mind the kitschy mishmash decor — it’s part of the charm, and a sign that the meal is sure to be great." - Rebecca Roland

The South Bay’s Best Pastrami Sandwich Hides in a Torrance Strip Mall - Eater LA

"New York Deli in Torrance continues to serve stellar sandwiches and matzo ball soup after 38 years of business. Cut diagonally and built thick in the middle with about five ounces of peppery-cured brisket, this pastrami has been fulfilling cravings for those far away from the most famous Southern California delis for the past 38 years." - Matthew Kang

So a buddy from work told me try this place and it didn't disappoint! What a cute little place. Looks family owned and keep very clean. Doesn't look like much from outside but when you walk in, it feels like a New York deli. They offer beer and wine. I got a corned beef and pastrami sandwich and it was huge and delicious! The only thing I didn't like was the macaroni salad. I highly recommend this place.

It's like a trip to old New York. It's a good deli and one of the most authentic to an old school NY deli in Los Angeles (well, Torrance). The sandwiches are good, reasonably priced 16 for a standard 18 for a "NY high" (that's just cheese, Russian dressing, and coleslaw slapped on top) and 28 for a triple decker which looks pretty large and worth it. Matzah ball soup looks good (a little pricey at 12$) and the meats are all fresh and very good tasting. It ain't no Carnegie deli, but you don't have to fly to NY. the sandwiches aren't as huge here, but neither are the prices. It's an old place, with limited staff, but that adds to the charm. If you like NY style deli food, try this place it's one of the better ones out there. So I was so hungry, I didn't take a photo of the food. Next time I promise. Hey I remembered to photo first, scarf down my food next. Found out today that they charge per glass of lemonade (2.95 a glass). Doesn't say no refills anywhere. That's a bit pricey for some country time mix and water. Just beware.

After being recommended to me by multiple people over the last year, I'm glad I finally came in. The hype was worth it! We all got the philly cheesesteak and fries, and agreed it was quite good. The sandwich was well stuffed with ingredients, and served and a sturdy roll so that kept it from getting soggy. The fries were very good as well. The decor and lighting is nice and the place has good atmosphere too. The staff was also very kind and helpful. We all agreed we'll be back to try the Reuban and the corned beef. Highly recommended!

Google
This restaurant needs a pickle bar. Otherwise the food is delicious for $20 sandwich plates. Not clear if everything or anything was Kosher. The decor is absolutely "kitsch". Service was attentive before 6:00pm. Seating is cafeteria style. There is outdoor seating as well.

Google
If you are looking for an extra large $20 pastrami sandwich, this is the place. There's so much meat I was beginning to get bored of it towards the end - but this is what I was looking for. Not sure if this is a deli or a restaurant though. If you decide to sit down with the sandwich, they will begin to provide sit-down service, which is not typically what you're looking for when you come to a deli.

This restaurant is located in a strip mall so one might miss it, like I had for many years. One night it caught our eye while on our way home thinking about dinner options. We decided to give it a try and we're so glad we did! This is a family-owned, restaurant and deli with a nostalgic decor of old pictures on the wall. We were very pleased with the food and service. No doubt we'll be back.

Google
It's still the best Pastrami in the South Bay! I came just before closing to set up for the dinner crowd, so I had to get my order to go. Pastrami on Sourdough. I forgot to ask for toasted bread, but it all worked out since it would've been soggy by the time I got home. I ended up adding some mayo and Provolone, making it grilled cheese style. Bomb!! They seriously need to consider this an option!

Google
I ordered the Pastrami Sandwich to go. The Pastrami Sandwich was amazing, tender and not really fatty, thinly sliced and so juicy. The sandwich came with a generous portion of potato salad that has a sweet mustard taste that is light and not too heavy. A pickle completes the meal that has a nice crunch. I really enjoyed my lunch here and will be coming back again.

Yelp
New York deli is a staple of the South Bay. This used to be one of the key lunch spots when I worked down here 1- ambiance Covered with pictures of Hollywood heros, this is not a fine dining establishment. It's a deli 2- service Super good. They are very attentive and are always there to refill the ice tea. Food prep is fast - which is key when you're on a limited lunch break schedule 3- food The sandwiches are HUGE. This ain't subway where you get a small hint of meat. Here the sandwiches tower over you. Oh, regular isn't enough? They have grande versions. You will not go hungry. The sides are also great. This is the only place I get carrot salad. Even the pickles on the side are good Yup- you should add this to your lunch list. Come hungry

Yelp
I don't come here often, but when I do it never disappoints! Still the same quality and taste that I crave when I want a good meat sandwich that is piled high. Enough to share or save for the next day! It's nothing fancy inside and there is some outdoor seating. Service is straightforward. I always order ahead by phone when picking up. Hot corned beef is always a winner! Hot brisket beef dip - meat is on the dry side but when dipped into the flavorful Au jus it is delicious.

Yelp
Great Jewish deli, NY style. The Matza ball soup is excellent as is the pastrami. There is a sitting area and a to go area. We just got things to go and everyone enjoyed it
google avatar

Matt P.

Yelp
And to think ive been driving to DTLA for pastrami. This classic New York Deli has everything. Really good Pastrami and Beef dip. Is it as good as say Langers? Its close and much less expensive. Great service as well.
google avatar

Martin N.

Yelp
I got a pastrami sandwich pastrami was very fresh. They do pack it on. I got the number two pastrami sandwich with a pickle and macaroni salad. The macaroni salad was OK. You had other items to choose from with that combo. The menu does look very good. I'll be back very soon to try out more items. They do have a large wine selection when you walk in there. It does look New York like . See you soon

Yelp
[Review #787] 2023-074 Food Order: HOT PASTRAMI DELUXE SANDWICH (mustard, pickles, rye bread) with CUCUMBER SALAD, POTATO SALAD, MATZO BALL SOUP, WHITE CAKE (white cake, custard filling), DR. BROWN's CREAM SODA The New York Deli was a Toyota staff fav but I never went when I worked there or first moved to the South Bay in the late 1990s. Even after moving & within walking distance in the early 2000s, I still never made it in. With my current job, I'm even closer (~0.25-mi.) & making my initial visit this spring. It's a nice walk over, but I'm always worried about getting run over on the busy corner of Sepulveda & Crenshaw Blvds. Ack! Opened in 1985, the deli sits in the middle, south side of Sepulveda Crenshaw Plaza with plenty of parking; I believe they're the only restaurant in the plaza. Their menu consists of: deli sandwiches (deluxe, NY high, & combination triple decker), Reubens, open-faced bagels, burgers, grilled sandwiches, salads, sides, soups (their matzo ball is a must!), & kids meals. Of the options, only pastrami appealed to me. It's a essentially a huge serving of protein in between 2 slices of bread with a layer of mustard with 2 dill pickle halves & your choice of side (potato, macaroni, cucumber, 3 beans, carrot, or pasta salad; or coleslaw). When I'm eating for myself, I usually get the potato or cucumber salad. I tried the macaroni salad & found it too watery, goopy. The potato salad is alright, nothing fancy, & the cucumber salad is just cucumbers topped with Italian dressing. I enjoy the sandwich but there's no "wow" factor that would have you craving/salivating for more. NY High adds a layer of swiss, coleslaw, & Russian dressing, & triple decker looks to be 2 protein combinations with the NY High layer. Sometimes when my manager comes in during the off-office days, I would grab lunch for us, which consists of the pastrami sandwich with an added side, matzo ball soup (splitting both in half), & his fav soda: Dr. Brown's Cream Soda. Once in awhile, I'll add a slice of white cake. The soup is delish & really filling on its own; the matzo ball is h-u-g-e, taking up over 1/2 of the soup container! It has a decent amount of chicken pieces & noodles, & the soup itself is well-seasoned though it's not always "hot" in temperature (it only take 5-mins. to walk over). J & I always share so 1/2 sandwich & 1/2 soup is a satisfying lunch. There's a large dining room as well as patio seating; it's seat yourself so I'm unsure if there's table service since I've always ordered takeout . Upon entry, their lobby consists of their menu over the open kitchen & a display loaded with deli meats; over to the right is the order/pick-up counter & register with another display case stocked with desserts & bottled waters & sodas; on the opposite side is a wall decorated with famous patrons & a rack of chips. Service is like a New Yorker? Fast & abrupt (stereotype?)... I barely finish my order & the line is dead. I have never given my name for any order. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The New York Deli is a local staple with hefty sandwiches & equally hefty price points, satisfying to the belly but not so much in taste.

Yelp
Come to the New York Deli if you want to be instantly transported to the 1950s-60s eating corned beef and pastrami with Italian mobsters. The interior decor is very reminiscent of the Godfather, which is very cool. We ordered THE REUBEN Corned Beef ($18.95) and the Pastrami Reuben ($18.95), which is meat on grilled rye bread and sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, Russian dressing with a side salad, plus a pickle. The Corned Beef (pictured) tastes better than the pastrami, but they are both great options. For me, honestly, it's not very different than Langer's, which is a huge compliment to the NY Deli. Langer's is insanely expensive these days, and the NY Deli is very comparable, so we're coming here anytime we have a hankering for pastrami or corned beef. Parking is easy, and there's always plenty of seating.

Yelp
Big portions, friendly staff, unique interior, delicious food, good parking space, to go or dine in.

Yelp
Fresh and delish!!! With the servings so generous and large my hubby and I always share in order not to waste. We have a small chicken soup to share and we share the classic hot pastrami on rye with a pickle and mustard ! Just like the fabulous Jewish delis in New York. We order a side of coleslaw and a piping hot plate of French fries . A guilty treat but a sandwich of simple Jewish style quality ! Highly recommended
google avatar

Tamaya T.

Yelp
One of my favorite delis! I got the hot pastrami sandwich, macaroni salad and the matzah ball soup. The services is always great. Very friendly staff!

Yelp
When Langer's is too far of a trek from the OC, this place in Torrance is a close substitute! Loved their pastrami on rye with Russian dressing and Swiss. Coming here for the first time on the weekend, it was pretty busy, which is a testament to this long standing restaurant. Come try their sandwiches!

Yelp
These N.Y. Deli style sandwiches are delicious! You'll find all your NY Deli favorites here and there's plenty to choose from. Dine in or order to-go you will not be disappointed with anything you choose. Cone enjoy a great meal soon! There's a good amount parking in the lot and the service is always friendly. The decor has a classic deli feel and comfort.

Yelp
I never knew about this place untiI I saw it on Yelp several months. So happy to find a good deli where they serve New York style sandwiches in the South Bay. I was finally able to come here and ordered the Deluxe Corned Beef sandwich with coleslaw and Russian dressing on squaw bread with a side of potato salad to go. The sandwich and potato salad was enough for two people and it was very good. I ordered at the counter and the order came out relatively quickly. The deli is located in a small strip mall near the corner of Crenshaw and Sepulveda.

Yelp
I had a frustrating experience trying to make a reservation for my mother's 83rd birthday celebration at the New York deli. I was disappointed when a venue employee tells me rather than a manager which I requested to speak to is unable to accommodate a large party, especially for a special occasion like a birthday. In situations like this, it's important to remain calm and understanding, even if you're feeling disappointed. Since the deli couldn't accommodate my large group due to parking and their first-come-first-serve policy, it was a considerate decision to look for an alternative venue that could better accommodate my needs. The Food is terrific.

Yelp
I wanted to grab sandwiches to picnic up in Palos Verdes at sunset, and Yelp lead me here. (You wouldn't believe how many delis in the area were already closed at 6 pm... this one's open until 8!). I ordered the hot pastrami and hot corned beef, both on sourdough. I tried half of each. The meats were lean and plentiful! These were the thickest sandwiches I've ever had! I didn't care for the macaroni salad or pickle much- they were both overly sweet and the salad, too soupy. The girl at the counter was super friendly and intuitive- she gave me a brown box with the sandwiches, drinks, napkins, etc all packed tightly inside. It was perfect because we had a dog with us and I was able to pop the box in my trunk. I noticed there is a restaurant next to the deli- perhaps I will eat in next time! Overall, a welcome find! Pros: - huge sandwiches - friendly! - quality ingredients Cons: - parking sucks - a bit pricey - sides are just okay

Yelp
Thursday for lunch I returned here to meet a pal. I think it's incredible that there is one wait staff for entire restaurant. She recognized me and smiled. Ha ha. It was lunchtime and she was swamped however, it appears that she never has anyone else helping. She is incredible. We ordered brisket and pastrami sandwiches to share on sour dough bread ( I have mentioned their rye bread is subpar). Still not a great bread either. I think next time I'm gonna supply my own bread, so I wound up just having some meat and we ordered zucchini sticks instead of my beloved onion rings. Tbh, they felt like they were frozen not fresh like their ONION RINGS! I don't think we will return there at noon ever again... maybe I just pick up the fixings and supply everything else. Afterwards, I went to Manhattan Beach on my way home and got a latte to go from Cafe Luxxe. See my other review. Great place! Happy St Patrick's Day my YELPERS! SYOY soon...

Yelp
I've dined here many times and, despite this poor review, will stay a customer until and unless a better deli opens nearby. Today I drove to NY Deli for a late lunch. I arrived at 3:05 only to be greeted by a sign "Closed from 3-4" for "maintenance." As it turns out, the only maintenance was a break for the workers. I waited until they reopened. I ordered the deluxe pastrami sandwich to go. As it was getting late I decided to eat in my car. I opened the package and saw what appeared to be a pastrami sandwich on rye cut in half with toothpicks holding each half together. I picked up one half only to find out, too late, only the top bread was cut and not the bottom. The entire sandwich fell apart inside my car messing up my clothes, the car seat and the floor. I was literally sitting on mustard and pastrami. I ate what was left inside the box with a fork but it was really fatty and not appetizing. I then had to go to a car wash to get the mess cleaned up (which cost more than the sandwich. I don't know what's so difficult about cutting a sandwich in half. The restaurant really blew it this time and it'll be a while until I go there again.

Yelp
Wow! This is such a classic deli!!!! Huge-sized and amazing sandwiches. Looooove this place!!!!!
google avatar

Robert G.

Yelp
It's as close to a New York deli as it gets in Southern California. Loads of great meats and baked goods as you walk in with a spotless dining room off to the right. The dining room has lots of photos of celebrities on the walls. The Pastrami was Uber lean and the rye bread was warm and awesome. You get a large selection of salads as a side. Hint-if you're not a big eater consider splitting a sandwich with someone in your party. They have a variety of mustards to add to your feast. Service is good and they don't rush you like a lot of delis in New York. If your'e in Torrance, Ca give the New York Deli a try. There's ample parking as well.

Yelp
Good legit Jewish deli!! So delicious! We stopped in the grab and Reuben sandwich and we were not disappointed! Heart portions, friendly service. The Cole slaw wasn't great and parking can be tough but worth it!
google avatar

George Z.

Yelp
This deli is OK ... but ... "nothin to write home about ... the corn beef sandwich was passable ... and ... I'll probably go again because a friend likes it ... but it's not my choice ... Rather than mediocre, I'd "stretch my wings" and make the trip to Nate n' Al's or go to Katella Deli "Further sayth not"
google avatar

Lorenzo G.

Yelp
This is my second time eating there and the food is consistent and the service is very good and the server remember my nane. Large selection of deserts
google avatar

Kelsey C.

Yelp
Welcome to the best...the only Jewish deli in town! It's the only but it's pretty good. The Hot Pastrami is a classic, and you can taste the meatiness in the pastrami, and the sandwich is generously thick. The Mac salad side is a fine cold side, and a pickle is a must. The Latkes are gigantic, very fried with a crispy crust. A little bland, even with sour cream or applesauce but hey, they're potatoes. Perfect for kids who are picky eaters. It'll hit the spot if you're craving deli sandwiches. It won't cost that much and you definitely won't leave hungry.
google avatar

Yelp
How I have I been in the South Bay for over a decade and never heard of New York Deli?! I would guess that, actually, anytime I hear of a restaurant named after a place, I kinda discount it as being wishful thinking. In this case, though, New York Deli lives up to its name (except with more space). We tried the Chicken Noodle Soup, the Hot Corned Beef, and the NY High Hot Pastrami. We also fot a side of the cole slaw and the macaroni salad. All were excellent and easily the best deli sandwiches (NY Jewish style) that I've had in the South Bay! Finally, a go-to place for traditional chicken soup! Finally, a place to get a terrific pastrami sandwich when I can't get all the way to Langer's! We will most definitely be back, and fairly often, I would guess!
google avatar

Eric O.

Yelp
Food is good but their prices are way out of control. $50 for 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks. I've eaten here for a long time but I'm Done now. Done!

Yasmin W.

Yelp
The best pastrami on the west coast! The service is top notch too. Just wish it was a chain.

Drea B.

Yelp
As someone from CA, it is pretty hard for me to judge places with names like "New York Deli". I grew up on Canter's on Fairfax. This has none of Canter's ambiance. But oh, it has flavor. This is some real comfort food! This is the kind of food some of us crave on a visceral level. They know what they are doing! But be warned! You are going to pay. To be fair. I've always thought they charged a little more than they should. But for the last year, the SAME 2 things I almost always order seem to be going up in price every time I stop in. Trust me: I know they're responding to the market and I'm not being political at all. I'm just warning you that your amazing, juicy, big fancy sandwich will be $30 soon. Love this place and so grateful to have it nearby.
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
Best matzah ball soup! Always delicious, always hits the spot. They do very quick to go orders. Highly recommend
google avatar

Jonathan W.

Yelp
Small parking lot in front. Takes credit card. Lots of indoor seating. They also have taken out. Matzah ball soup (10.95)- it is huge. It's enough for a meal by itself. If ordering as a side, best to split with 2-3 people. The chicken soup is average. The matzah is soft, fluffy, and not too thick NY High Pastrami sandwich $17.95- the pastrami is excellent. Super soft, not too salty, served warm. With the Cole slaw, it adds a nice freshness, without much mayo-it's a good balance. I think it's better than Langer's Deli's in LA. The macaroni salad is average, it's made with a mustard dressing.

Jeannie S.

Yelp
If you want an authentic New York pastrami sandwich this is the place to go. I'm never disappointed in the quality of the food. The french fries are excellent and the service is friendly and prompt.
google avatar

Kelsey G.

Yelp
The liver, pastrami on rye, and soup are all to die for. Service is fast and friendly and energy is lively. Always worth a visit.
google avatar

Ion G.

Yelp
I've been going here for 30+ years and have to say they have the best sandwiches in the Southbay! Service is always amazing, quality of food and portions spot on with the real deal NY deli's I frequented during my 13yrs traveling for business to NY. They know you buy name and always remember my go to for a #18 on rye with potato salad. An amazing family owned spot that is one of my top 5 places in the Southbay to grab a meal. Thank you NY Deli for the amazing meals and family memories.

Stephen ..

Yelp
Use to go there because you're limited living in Torrance. Been going there since they originally opened in Torrance at a location not far from here. Stopped going when I saw Kirkland Meats in their counter up front.
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
went here for lunch last week. i've read an article about this place and how great their sandwiches were. kind of a hidden place. the cashier lady was very nice. some sandwiches were kind of pricey. interior was an old school design, nothing really to brag about. i ordered the all salami sandwich with dill pickles on the side. they really packed the sandwich with tons of meat. the sandwich looked so fat and huge; however in my personal opinion they could've built the sandwich better. when I tried to cut the sandwich in half; it all fell apart.

Megan W.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I love the food here, not only is it very delicious, the portions are big and the ingredients are so fresh. I love the ambiance as well, there's plants and old Hollywood pictures everywhere. The staff is so nice and attentive too.
google avatar

Arthur S.

Yelp
O......M.......G.......!!! I had the Hot Pastrami on Rye, Matzo Ball Soup and my guest had the Chopped Liver on Rye..... Ya ain't gonna find better Deli food in the South Bay. I traveled from DTLA in order to partake of the Manna My only bad experience was with the cover for my leftover soup.... The plastic had degraded and became brittle and the smaller container on top had almost fallen in
google avatar

Yelp
I soooooo wanted to like the New York Deli much more than I did. Now that The Daughter is living in the South Bay and not downtown LA-- therefore, not close to Langers!--I was hoping to find something similar. And, the reviews made me believe that this was going to be the case. Nope. But first, the good stuff: Since NY Deli is in a large strip mall, parking was easier to find than on the street. And, it's free. We were also there on a weekday at 11 am, so I'm sure that helped. SUPER nice wait staff. Very clean, including the restroom. Did not hurry us. Brought extras to the table in an efficient manner. Slightly less expensive than Langers or Cantors, although not by much. Okay, now on to the not-so-good stuff: In a nutshell, pretty much all of the food. I ordered the pastrami on rye with Russian dressing, coleslaw and Swiss cheese. I believe that's one of the special sandwiches at Langers. However, this pastrami likely came from top round instead of brisket, so there was MUCH less marbling, which meant MUCH less flavor. Also, I could barely see the coleslaw in the sandwich--probably less than 1/4 inch thick--and there was only one very thin, small piece of Swiss cheese. Also, no mustard! Not even on the table! In fact, no other condiments at all. I had to ask for mustard, and the server seemed surprised at my request. The rye bread was okay but not something I'd write home about. Also, included in my sandwich order was a choice of small salads: I chose the macaroni. Sadly, it looked and tasted exactly like the pre-prepared stuff in the big tubs at Ralphs or Safeway. Hubby got potato salad for his side salad, and he said the same. I felt like something sweet afterwards, and got the coconut cake, which was **the best thing I had--very moist and very flavorful.** A friend got a slice of cheesecake--plain is the only choice--and said it was great. However, unlike other traditional Jewish delis, the dessert was pre-packaged in individual portions in plastic containers. No pretty display of whole cakes and pies and cookies going round and round! Oh, that friend ordered an egg salad sandwich and at NY Deli, sugar is added to the egg mix. She was warned beforehand, but I have to say, I've never heard of sugar in an egg salad! It appears that NY Deli now has a branch in the San Fernando Valley, where tastes may be more discerning than Torrance, so, I'll be interested to see if it's a success there. I know there are a lot of terrific reviews for this place, but it just didn't do it for me or the three other folks I was with. Will I go back? No. Will I head to Langers or Canters next time I'm in town? Yup. 100 percent. :)

Yelp
Outstanding, definitely the best place in the South Bay to have simple, tasty deli!! The space is located in a strip mall in Torrance, The insides are very deli like with lots of space, old movie star's pictures and very nice service!! (Although she was amazingly competent, they could use a 2nd waitress, the one seems to be taking care of the whole place!!) The sandwiches are all delicious (my favorite is the Corned beef Ruben The salads are fresh the Matzo ball soup looked amazing at the table next to me. The place is kept very clean and it's run very well, as there always seemed to be allot regulars. Go and have some good DELI!!!
google avatar

Lynwood W.

Yelp
I had lunch here for the first time this afternoon. I had the hot pastrami on rye with mustard and a side of potato salad. The sandwich was excellent. A generous portion of lean meat with bread that had a nice texture. The service was very good. The only reason I'm deducting a star is the decor. It looks too much like a Chinese restaurant! Other than that, no complaints. I look forward to returning.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Food of course is delicious. What's not to like about sandwiches with the greatest pile of meat ever?
google avatar

Aaron S.

Yelp
Amazing huge portions. We loved everything about this place. One of my new favorites. Really a true Nee York feel! Try the pastrami, it's amazing. The corn-beef sandwich is my favorite.
google avatar

Sara R.

Yelp
Did New York Deli be my color itself a deli but it's not really authentic deli when you look at and compare it to something like ling, the old stage, or even factors. That being said it is the only deli in the South Bay. So if you are near Torrance, Lomita, Lawndale, And you want a sandwich just know that you're not going to be getting what an authentic pastrami or corn beef sandwich is. Not too sure where they get their meats but everything taste super super salty. Same goes for the matzoh ball soup. On the plus side, their matzoh balls are gigantic. On the negative side it is super super salty. However, if I'm craving a bowl of matzoh ball soup and I'm in the south bay I will go here because I can some of that salt by adding a bunch of lemon. I find that lemon cut their salty soup and it makes it OK. Atmosphere is very old school and wall. It's OK be nice if they brighten the place up a bit. It's very popular as they seem to always be busy during lunchtime, so it's good to hear that the community supports it and they're still going strong. Just wish their food wouldn't be so salty.

Yelp
Solid NY style sandwich shop. Service is good and food is good and there's plenty for leftovers.

Yelp
Honestly, I saw this place several times while driving but gave it a shot even though I have been living in the South Bay forever. Considering the prices that are going up in the other areas, this place does a great job in providing a quality New York sandwich! I 100% recommend their pastrami on the rye bread. Super flavorful and hits it right during a cold, rainy weather. Along with that, I recommend trying their macaroni salad that comes along with it! In terms of pricing, quantity, and quality wise, I really recommend giving this place a try!

Yelp
Best sandwiches and matzoh ball soup! Absolutely delicious but prices are outrageous. You'll have to decide if it's worth it.

Yelp
Old school, authentic, New York-style deli. Everything was delicious but do some research, know what you want, and don't expect too much, in-depth feedback or explanations of what's inside the sandwiches or what's included in the meal or what's the most popular sandwich or anything of the sort! The New York style pastrami with cole slaw, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing is what you should order if the menu appears overwhelming to you! Then next time you go back (and you'll definitely head back here) you can be more adventurous and try something new on the menu! The Triple Decker Club House is enough for two people and I preferred the potato salad over the macaroni salad, although both were sauced/seasoned nearly identically!

Yelp
OVERALL The New York Deli is a fabulous deli in Torrance, CA, on Sepulveda Boulevard started by a New York married couple who still work there! The wife was our waitress. RATING BREAKDOWN | Food: 5 | Service: 4 | Environment: 5 | Price: 4 | PARKING There is free, ample parking in a plaza lot. LOCATION / AMBIANCE It was a bit windy on (6/14/22), but they have a lovely outdoor seating area. The indoor dining area was decorated with photos of old movie stars as well as artificial plants with string lights. It's a fun vibe. THE GRUB + Hot Pastrami ($15.95) - the lean, thinly-sliced flavorful pastrami was piled high on my choice of rye bread which was soft and scrumptious with the mustard thinly layered on one side. I opted for cucumber salad on the side. So fresh & crisp! This hot sandwich came with a crunchy, delicious Kosher pickle. My girls would not stop asking for bites of this sammy. Lol. Even after sharing, I still took half of it home for lunch the following day. + Dr. Brown's black cherry soda ($2.95) - I forgot how much I enjoyed this brand! LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB + Kid's lemonade ($1.95) + Kid's milk ($2.50) + Kid's grilled cheese ($7.95) - they are hefty sandwiches! They also came with a huge portion of piping hot, regular-cut fries that my girls enjoyed. SERVICE Very friendly & welcoming. No complaints. MY FAVORITE PART How delicious and lean the pastrami was. NO SO FAVORITE PART I like when the entire table is served all at once, not waiting on others to receive their meals.

Yelp
This place is the best in the city. for all things New York cuisine. If you are from New York and miss deli food this the place.
