New York's Chopped Cheese (Mid-City)

Greasy mess. No flavor. $20. Gone. I discovered this restaurant on Uber Eats. They had a buy one, get one deal + $10 off. I did a little research. A lot of people on Reddit seem to enjoy it (first mistake) and there was a deal so I took advantage. I wish I hadn't. I love Philly cheese steak sandwiches. I thought I had Covid or something because all I taste was grease. Whatever this is probably rose my blood pressure because now my head hurts a bit. I think I even blacked out a bit and could've sworn I saw Biggie Smalls shredding a tear. I'm joking but this abomination shouldn't exist. I should've bought me a burrito.

This place caught my eye I love state themed shops and I decided to try da chop-cheese b lol and thier loaded fries and OMG!!!! Was I surprised of the flavor and how delicious the chop cheese was and the fries with the spices a spicy sauce topped with chop beef cheese and jalapeños mmm a good time would definitely recommend others who went told me that the chop chicken is HIM so that's my next trip

Crystal and this place is the GOAT. I’ve always wanted to try a chopped cheese but not all the way at the east coast. This was great cheesy meaty meltsy. I’m gonna go back for the banger and the cold sandwiches. They’re also really big. I couldn’t finish so gonna save the other half for later

Tried the classic chopped cheese and the loaded tot fries. The chopped cheese was good, it had a nice mixture of seasoned ground beef and condiments and sauces. The sauce tasted a bit sweet at time. The loaded tots were good, The tots were crispy and a good mixture of the sauce and ground beef and peppers went well together. Overall, its good but it will be very heavy. The staff was nice and courteous on various requests.

Had a very late lunch at this location. I got a classic chopped cheese and my sister got the banger with tots combo. Each of the sandwiches were delicious and the tots were crispy and well seasoned. I was only able to eat half in one sitting so the other half is for sharing with someone or taking home, what a great deal! Their house sauce is also excellent on the tots and in the sandwiches. The place is super clean and has a really nice atmosphere.

Love this spot, been going to the Hollywood location since it opened. Passed this new one on the way to LAX and had to stop. Glad I did, Cesar’s the man! Gave me tons of great nutrition tips while he made my sandwich. Btw the vegan options and are awesome! And no matter what you’re ordering, remember to ask for that Yurr sauce!!

8:40pm on a Sunday night. We wanted Philly cheesesteaks and not much open. Found this place, decided to send it. Got the classic New York, at first was hesitant about the ketchup with cheese combo, but got it anyway and BOY. Sandwich was BOMB. Savory and flavorful, kinda tasted like a Philly cheesesteak/hamburger fusion. Dude at the register was super nice despite being the only one working and getting a rush of orders, friendly and patient with my annoying with/without ketchup questions. If you've never tried a NY chopped cheese, try here!

Greasy mess with no flavor. Got the banger combo $25. Tater tots were nicely seasoned and crunchy. Their yee sauce just tastes pork heavy mayo and they drenched it on the sandwich. It just tasted like I was eating grease and mayo. Should have just gotten the classic

Update: I did not take the owners offer for a discount. It's not at all the restaurant that made me dislike it was just maybe 1-2 employees. I still recommended this place just said pick up only Let's fast forward to now We've come a few times since giving it a break. Holy cow there's a lot more friendliness , decently loud music, clean, and courteous encounters! Please visit this place it went through the phase of employees just wanting a check to employees that take pride in the work !! I can't express how much I am so happy with how it is again. Right back to the first day it opened !! Warm welcome and all. Thank you to the owner for offering the discount but even more thanks for taking the time to read , reply, and make moves based on what's best for the shop! Will keep coming back maybe even back to my 2-3 times a week the calories are going to be against me but it's alllll worth it!

If heaven is real, they're handing out Bangers at the pearly gates! This sandwich isn't just food--it's a divine experience. One bite and I saw the light! LORD HAVE MERCY, this is the kind of flavor that makes angels sing. Best. Sandwich. EVER! Ambiance and service are also great.

I'm from the East Coast, my daughter and I split the Classic New York Chopped Cheese and it was a 10 of 10!!!! We opted for the tots over the fries and they were cooked and seasoned to perfect. I highly recommend this place!

I ordered the Italian sub and the whole thing was drenched. The bread completely fell apart and turned to mush and all the ingredients fell out as soon as I unwrapped it. I don't know why they felt the need to add that much aoili or wherever it was until it was soaked. I did not enjoy eating mushy bread with a spoon at all.

Tried the new neighborhood spot today and it did not disappoint. Really good sandwich, comes with fries and fire fountain soda (the coke was McDs style). Sandwich was a little greasy but it was a well seasoned, tasty, and all together worked really well. Fries are over seasoned, when dipped in sauce, tastes like a salt bomb. Sucks cause the yerr sauce is like a chipotle Mayo type sauce so I wanted to enjoy it. CRITICAL: Make sure to order a LARGE. I got the regular/small and it came on a hard roll. Chopped cheese HAS to be on pressed French roll. Will be back for sure.

I'm not familiar with a classic New York style chopped cheese to compare. But this sandwich smacked! 10/10 the fries were good the seasoning on them made them super tasty. What I really liked was that the sandwich comes with choice of fries or tater tots and a drink. Most places don't do that anymore without charging you extra for everything. The staff was very friendly and the place was very clean with some sick jams playing on the speaker. I'll definitely be back.

Not a fan.Concept is to cook hamburger with the cheese on it and to blend it.They then put condiments tomato on it. Problem is bun fell apart so i ate it on a plate.Owner is great,location is immaculate

I saw an article in Eater last night about this place. The NYC bacon, egg, and cheese may be my favorite sandwich! I was so excited to try it, I was there at 9:05 am today, a Sunday. That's absolutely perfect marketing and customer journey! But then, they served me a burnt sandwich, y'all. I know it wasn't personal, but it sure feels that way when you KNOW you burned it and you still have the nerve to serve it to me. I tipped in advance and everything. Makes me feel like a sucker.

The vibe was really cool with great music and service. Cesar and Desiree were both extremely welcoming and friendly. They explained the menu and options which led to be adding another sandwich to my order. Chicken Chopped Cheese was Amazing! The turkey and Swiss was delicious. I'm definitely will be coming back. This establishment is Chubbz Approved!

The food was ok. I need to make another trip because the staff was overwhelmed with the influx of customers. One was trying to all of the work while the other moved at a snail's pace. The restaurant was simple and easy to order menu. The music was loud and unpleasant. Price point are comparable to all other fast food. Plenty of parking

When asking about what people usually get vs what the person that was helping me out get, they weren't too excited to share details but said they liked The Banger. As I usually drive by, I thought I'd give this spot a try and I ordered The Banger cause you know, who doesn't like it spicy and given the person's recommendation. I wasn't too please with what I order after seeing it, since it was about a $20 sandwich. I felt like there should have been more meat and I couldn't even taste the cheese. Maybe that's why they do not have portion sizes of the meat they use. Ive seen other images of those who came before and it looked like they had a good amount of meat in it. Well, I wasn't please that I tasted more lettuce than beef for $20. I could've gone to in n out; got two double double chop that meat up and gotten more meat than what I was served here and paid for. Even when I stepped in, no greeting might I add as it was empty besides the workers being there. unfortunately, I don't know if i'll come back.

Food is good. However I don't share the enthusiasm that the east coast people might. It was very seasoned, cheese is already salty so it was a bit much. The meat was grounded down and it all blended and didn't really have textures.... I got The Banger Large (10-12 inch sub) eventually the seasoning and sogginess took over my pallet and I couldn't finish it. If you want to try it I suggest trying the small size--small size is about the size of a torta at a taco truck. The fries and tater tots are one size and are shareable amount for 2. Service was decent, it was late in the evening and slow so maybe that had reflected onto the service. The ambiance was better than the service lol. Music was good and the place was spacious enough to eat there. They also have a clean area with a lunch bench outside. For a new spot in the neighborhood it didn't live up to the hype for me

I haven't had a chopped cheese in like 15 years. This was kinda nostalgic. I ordered delivery so I can't speak to the service and ambiance of the restaurant itself, but the food was what I was hoping for.

I'll admit it: I've never had a Chopped Cheese sandwich before. But if they're all as good as the one I had at this place...damn. It was super good. Way more flavorful than you might expect from a sandwich that's somewhere between a burger and a sloppy Joe. I also had the tater tots, and they were super good, too. Way more flavorful than most place's. As for the place itself, it's your typical mini-mall kind of eatery. A handful of tables, a bunch of places to park, nothing fancy. But it's not a fancy kind of food, so it fits. Same goes for the staff, who were also nice and normal. If I have any complaints, and I don't really, it's that the chairs could've been more comfortable. But then, I'm a middle-aged man, the chairs can always be more comfortable.

Sometimes you just need a good breakfast sandwich to recover from a crazy weekend and my choice is absolutely the BEC from this place! The cheesy, crunchy & savory sandwich is no joke - Make sure you order it with the hashbrown inside. Game changer! Paired it with a Spanish Coffee w. Condensed Milk. Special shoutout to Cesar for being so kind and welcoming - the whole staff is friendly and the vibe is top notch!

Great service, I came in on a Thursday night a few weeks back and the two ladies running the place were extremely nice, and took great care of me. God bless those two, was honestly surprised cos most places have shitty service around here. Now the food, very tasty and packed! I've been to smash burger spots where you pay $12 for a tiny burger that you literally eat in less than 3 bites. Not here! They pack it with meat and cheese, and feels heavy when holding it. Leaves you filled and satisfied. Looking forward to my next visit!

Ceazer is great thank you for excellent customer service !! Visiting this location two days in a row, very delicious. Yesterday we ordered loaded tater totes, chopped cheese sandwich, tater totes and mozzarella sticks. Today I needed those loaded tater totes. 2 chopped cheese sandwiches.

Was here twice before this review and had no problem with my food. The ambiance is not the vibe as they blast music inside as if it's a club and don't even turn it down if you order or ask you about your order. But this time required a review this bad... First off, I come in and the manager is yelling at a guy outside and comes into the restaurant upset and yelling. So great start... then same thing with the music. Blasting it way too loud for no reason. Then I had to wait almost 30 mins for my food after they made the wrong order for me. On top of that, I'm vegan and they have an impossible sandwich. I was told they have vegan cheese and mayo by multiple employees. However, this time one of the workers pulled me aside and told me that she thought I should know that the manager (the only guy working there) was adamant about not making my sandwich vegan despite me asking for it. She told me that she said you can't mess around like that but that he was "forcing the issue". So I got my food and asked if it was completely vegan and although I was reassured, when an employee goes out of her way to tell me that, it's an ENORMOUS red flag. ON TOP OF THAT, while waiting for my food, another customer had got his food, left, and came back 10 minutes later because his order was wrong. I was excited about this place when it opened but given the vibe and the unprofessionalism of the manager, I won't be coming back here ever again and nor should any of you! Awful! But shoutout to the kind Latina woman who looked out for me! You're a real one!

No exaggeration... the BLT here is probbaly the best sandwich I've ever had. And the aioi dipping sauces for the seasoned fries are so good! 10 out of 10.

I'd been wanting to try chopped cheese and it did not disappoint. Located in a small strip lot I was warmly greeted by the lone employee. He said the original was a good starting point for 1st timers and I'm glad he did. Made to order the sandwich was warm and oozing cheese. The peppers were a nice addition. Interior super clean. You've got to try.

I have been craving a breakfast burrito and saw that this spot served breakfast all day which is dope. I appreciated the fact that they had turkey bacon as an option and I asked for my tots on the side. I saw online that there were mushrooms but unfortunately they do not have those anymore from what I was told. The burrito itself does the job, it tasted great but the grease from the veg was a bit much. The salsa that comes on the side was not for me but decent. The store itself is clean, vibrant and the music playing were some bangers. I was greeted by both employees and they were very nice.

I really like the flexibility of the chopped cheeses, service was immaculate, very respectful, very understanding and willing to fulfill customers needs. Aswell as ambiance it's very welcoming and inviting, I will be recommending to my people's and will be coming back for a another delicious chopped cheese

Great spot here in mid-city. Went with the Southern BBQ, 10/10. Any haters in the reviews don't know what they're talking about. Also way more fun to support a local business.

I don't like leaving negative reviews because I know how hard it is running a business and how the one star reviews hurt them. However, I just ordered a Chicken Chopped and it was the saltiest thing I've ever bitten into. So much so that it was inedible and I'm someone who has a high tolerance for salt. I left this 5 star review and honest feedback to alert the owner to be able to correct this without it hurting their business. PLEASE correct this mistake. I live in the neighborhood and would love to see this restaurant thrive.

It was good but lacking on the filling or meat in the sandwiches. The chopped Italian is mostly bread unfortunately.

I passed this place and immediately hit a u-turn! My chopped cheese was the best!! that cheese to meat ratio was perfection every bite was perfect. The service was impeccable. 15 years I loved in nyc and this reminded me of my time there. I will be back again.

What makes a sandwich great? The bread! My sandwich was mush. I got a chopped sandwich in NY a couple of months ago and the first thing you notice is a good, strong, fresh roll. What I picked up from here was a soft, squishy mess. And it didn't even taste that great. Can't say I'll be coming back. Oh well.

i made a review already, and yelp removed it. Anyway, i had The Banger chopped cheese. The first bite was delicious. It's a juicy sandwich. The tots were some of the best tots I've ever had. The sandwich chefs were very serious about making the orders and getting them right. I went around 11 on a Sunday morning, and honestly, those two hardworking chefs could use some help. The orders kept coming and the people kept coming and they barely had a moment to breathe. They did a great job at paying attention to the details of the order. The only thing I would do differently next time is ask for lightly seasoned, simply because my palate is a little sensitive to salt. Good luck to Chopped Cheese and I hope it will become a mainstay in the neighborhood. I will be back.

Lucky #3 to review! Y'all need to check in too because the sandwich and tater tots we had were fire!!! I was super hesitant but it blew me away! Super different taste, LA really needed this! One sandwich is cut in half enough to share. The sandwich was loaded and the cup was packed with tots for 2.

Ridiculously over priced for the size of their sandwiches...a small sandwich is basically the size of a McDonald's cheeseburger for $17 but the food is good just pricing and sizing....only order a large to get money worth!!!!

Okay. I had the BBQ chopped today and I'm not gonna lie, that was effing delicious. The Tater Tots alone were glorious. I wanna drive right back and order another one. The ONLY problem so far--it's a bit overpriced like everything else these days. $20 for a combo. Oy vey. I might go back once a month though.

Great sandwiches! Made an order thru UberEats. We tried the classic chopped cheese and the Banger. Both were delicious sandwiches with just the right amount of seasoning. We also had an order of tater tots. They arrived surprisingly still hot and crispy! The only issues was that they were very HEAVILY seasoned with some sort of salt/pepper/paprika spice mix. I think that next time I would ask for that seasoning to be left off. I would definitely recommend both sandwiches. Looking forward to trying them again.

Woke up craving a chopped cheese and found this gem. Looking upon the menu there's so many options for different types of chopped cheese. I went with the Banger because the staff recommended it. To say the least it was BOMB. I got the comb which came with my choice of tots or fries. I ended up getting the tots and they were perfectly seasoned. The place its self was such a good vibe from the music to the staff. I will definitely be coming again. I recommend others should as well if you're ever in the mid city area!

Delivery driver I deliver to a lot of restaurants and my boy The chef Ceaser hooked me up when I was making a delivery and let me tell you chop cheese is big in New York and it just got bigger in LA. I loved it. Good Looking Ceaser
