Next Level Burger Ballard

I visited another location of Next Level Burger about a year ago. This time, we tried the Fire Chik'n Burger and the Ghost Pepper Popper Burger with a side of fries. Despite their fiery names, both burgers lacked the spice we expected. However, they still tasted great and were quite filling. The fries were crispy and served hot, which was a plus. The ambiance was simple, just like any fast-food spot, and the place was kept clean. The only downside was the wait time—service was a bit slow since only two staff members were working. Would I return? Maybe—if I’m hungry and unsure what to eat.

Stopped by for late night milkshake and was glad I did! All vegan (non-dairy) shake with a few different flavor choices (oreos/strawberry/peanut butter/etc) and able to choose soy, coconut, or a combo base. The machine was having some issues, but staff was very friendly and was still able to deliver a delicious shake. Free shared parking lot. Bathroom available with code for customers.

I’m not a vegan, but I must say that this place has better burgers and more flavor than many non-vegan restaurants. The Orange cream milkshake was extraordinary and the special fries were a highlight. It was my first time there, but I'll be going frequently.

This is a good vegan burger chain. It is clean and they take care to make sure the food comes out fresh and looking good. It usually takes a few more minutes than a typical fast food place- worth it. The only downside side is the price. You get a “better for you” meal but expect to pay $26 for a burger, fries and drink. All things considered a solid 4 stars.

My partner & I are vegan. Have enjoyed the food at another location. This one not so much. Portions too small for the price. Patties were dry, flavorless. Bun was dry. Toppings scant. Service was excellent though. They were incredibly busy but still friendly.

Fantastic place for vegan burgers. Everything tastes fresh and has quality organic ingredients. Would definitely recommend as a vegan treat!

I go here semi regularly and I have never had a bad experience. Their milkshakes are SO good and their cheese is also pretty good which can make or break your burger. They have lots of options on their menu. My FAVORITE vegan burger place.

Food good. Would not know it was vegan if they didn’t say so, which I know is a virtue to some. Tater tots are out of this world, please order them, you will not regret it. Milkshakes are delicious and thick, burgers are ALSO delicious and thick, everything looks good on the menu. Even the handful of things I cannot eat. (Especially the handful of things I cannot eat.)

Obsessed!! I will definitely be back again and again! I had the chicken sandwich with a side of fries and the peach ice tea. My meal was delicious, I love the fries!! They taste to fresh. I can't wait to come back and try the chili cheese fries and milkshakes! I was concerned for like 30 seconds because I was like ... wow this is vegan!! It was one of the best vegan meals I've had. I am pretty picky.

Ordered the American classic with smoked Gouda and a gluten free bun. Very tasty burger and especially liked the patty and the cheese was very melty. Great to have a vegan fast food place to go and only wish we had more. Little pricey- had a small diet cola and with tip was $20.00, but still would most likely come back

You have to try this place! Omg non vegans will also LOVE THIS PLACE! EVERYTHING IS VEGAN!!!! So good it's shocking! My friend had the fried chicken burger! It was juicy and tender! I'm getting that next time for sure! I had the black bean burger with jalapeños! Spicy hot!!!! The coconut milk milkshake was delicious! Crispy fries! The place has easy underground parking! It was spotless! The bathrooms are so clean. The staff was really kind to an unhoused man who wanted a drink of water on a super hot Seattle summer day! I'm WOWED! I'm coming back again!!!!

Nice spot to visit from some convenient comfort food. Chili Cheeze fries, onion rings, Fire Cheeze burger/chikin sandwich all were enjoyable. Enjoyable spice level with their ghost sauce. Anyone could handle it. The staff were friendly, restaurant was clean and had lots of seating. Good plant based spot to grub before hitting the breweries!

My wife and I stopped here on our way to the Ballard Locks to enjoy one of the first days of the year that really felt like Summer. We had planned to get it to go. But the dining area was immaculate and super comfortable so we changed our order for here. I had the Fire Chzburger. The pepperjack chz and sauce was the perfect level of heat. So good! My wife (who is not vegan) had the Crispy Ch'kn and loved it. We shared some fries and a vanilla shake. The service was so friendly and the bathrooms so clean. This might be our new favorite stop!

I am really glad I tried out NextLevel Burgers. The food was really tasty. The prices were good. The menu has many gluten-free and dairy-free options, and at the counter you can there's a handy card you can read over for common allergies and dietary intolerances. I was super impressed. Both of the staff members I interacted with were nice and polite. I didn't have to wait long for my order; service was rather quick. On a Friday. I ordered the Fire Chzburger on a gluten-free bun, which was pretty tasty. It had great flavors and textures, but it would have been even better if the sauce had more of a spicy kick. The chocolate peanut butter cup shake with a combination of coconut milk and soy milk was so delicious and even had crunchy chocolate pieces in the bottom. As someone who can hardly ever get a milkshake at a restaurant, this was a wonderful treat. This restaurant is in a great location, too. While I'm out doing a bunch of errands in the neighborhood, I can stop by for a quick bite. Super convenient

How I heard of this place: Vegan friends introduced us to Next Level, and when we came across the one in Ballard, we had to stop by to partake of our special gift of a free shake! Type of cuisine: Vegan burgers, fries and shakes. All things fast food, without the guilt of animal cruelty. Ambiance: Bright orange and fast food-y, the space is new, clean and family friendly. What I ordered: We selected a Cookies 'n Cream Shake on this visit, prepared with soy & coconut ice creams for a thick and sweet combination. What I loved: The combination of ice creams available for shakes. Why I loved it: Comfort fast food that is more environmentally friendly. Cost: Average

Came here to introduce my gf to Next Level mid February. The shake machine was broken and they weren't serving food also for some unrelated reason. They said they'd send me a voucher. They never did. I came back today 3/13 . Guess what " Shake machine is broken again" The fact I expressed discontent over this disappointment FOR THE SECOND TIME felt like an offense to the staff. As if it's our fault to come support their business. This location is trash and I wouldn't recommend coming to this next level at all. Try any other location, best even if you can try the ones in Portland; over there I was never let down.

Not a vegan, just came for the grand opening. Thoroughly impressed with the level of planning and advertisement for the grand opening btw! The burger was great! Juicy, meaty, savory, definitely hits the spot. The fries were also pretty tasty. I really liked the sauce! The shake was not the best IMO, we got the soy/coconut mix base and has a very similar after taste to a protein drink. Of course, replacing dairy is pretty hard so considering that it's vegan it's pretty good! Overall, this place is a little pricey for a somewhat small burger, but it was still pretty tasty!

This burger is pretty next level! We ordered some beyond burgers, a chick'n burger, special fries, and a cookies and cream shake. I'm not vegetarian/vegan, so my expectations weren't super high, but I really enjoyed everything we ordered. The portions are small for what you pay for, however. The burgers did seem quite a bit small, but flavor and texture-wise, it was so juicy and flavorful. We particularly liked the chick'n burger because the texture was crispy and a little chewy. The veggies on the burgers were also quite fresh and crisp. I'm not sure if I personally would prefer it over a hamburger, but it's definitely a very solid plant-based burger. The shake was creamy and delicious, we were recommended the half soy half coconut base for extra creaminess. I also really liked the special fries--they were like In-n-Out animal style fries but the fries were also seasoned, so super yummy!

I never thought I'd go to Next Level Burger because I find vegan joints to have overly processed and pricey food, but when I had cravings for vegan soft serve recently, I ended up there to get their fall shake special called the Dirty Jack-o-Lantern! It included pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spices, vegan soft serve (I can't digest dairy products), crushed chocolate cookies, chocolate sauce, vegan whipped cream, and gummy worms. It was mighty good and gave me all the fall vibes! The cashier was friendly too. I'm taking one star off because the wait was loooong, and the shake is super pricey, but still, I enjoyed my rare pumpkin spice shake experience.

I am not a vegan but I still enjoy eating here once in a while. The burgers and sides that I've tried have all been tasty. The price point is a little high for the portion size, but the rewards app has good deals and it's definitely worth signing up for. It's great having an alternative/healthier option for your burger and fries fix in the Ballard area.

Perfect location! Right in the middle of it all... PLUS there is ample parking. My favorite items are the Pubchz Style Fries are where it's at. Topped with vegan cheezzzzzzzzz, tempeh bacon and green onion! You'll have one taste and feel like a baddie. The Buffalo chicken burger is so delish! If you could drown yourself in Buffalo sauce like me, then this is your jam. Don't forget to wash it down with one of their amazing shakes. The peanut butter cup is my fave. It comes with your choice of a coconut or soy base, but I do both. It's creamy, peanutty heaven. It tastes like a peanut buster parfait. NOM. It's a must try! Get after it!

We're not Vegan but I love to try food options that use less meat or no meat at all, and this place intrigued me. It's not a plant-based shop but my plant-based diet mother would love to have this shop in her city, I'm sure. The burger patties are your standard Beyond patty, so it's really the toppings and sauces that make this place stand out. Good variety of chz/faux cheeses, sauces, and the shakes can be made with coconut or soy milk. I'm not sure why I was expecting crinkle cut fries but the thicker and seasoned fries had a slight smokiness. The Maverick ($15 after adding Chz) had a crispy onion ring and excellent BBQ sauce. Beyond Burger ($12.50 after adding Pepperjack Chz) was delicious but didn't taste unique enough for me to order again. There was a hiccup with our sodas and we were given Diet cola (very clearly diet) and when we asked if it was an error we were told they only have regular Cola so ours was not Diet. We went back to the counter and asked to change it to a different flavor and a different employee mentioned they do indeed have Diet cola and quickly got us our requested substitutes. The Cookie dough shake was so good, we ended up getting a Mint Chocolate Chip one for the road. If you like your shake with a ton of large chips, this is for you! I prefer to have to chew my shake less, but my partner was loving it. We're looking forward to trying more of the menu again soon.

The TLDR is from the old Wendy's commercial "Where's the beef?" - had the fire cheeseburger and chili fries - the fries were decent and would order again - felt like the burger I had was slider size and just didn't get the bang for the buck. If you are a plant person they have several options and this might be something to check out but as far as burgers go, this place will not be in my rotation. (I did like the chile fries so I would consider that). One thing going for them is they are open until 10 pm

Mediocre burger, not very impressed with the flavor or texture but the restaurant was clean and well lit.

Never disappoints. Took my gf in for her first time. Fell in love with their shakes and really enjoyed lunch.

As a nonvegan, I found my Maverick Burger palatable. Vegan hubby said his Blue BBQ Burger was very good. We both liked the tater tots and small shakes. I got strawberry with coconut dairy substitute.

Great vegan burger joint. The coconut milk shakes are very yummy. I have had three different menu items and they were all good. The So Cal, the chicken burger, the Signature. Both the fries and the onion rings are really tasty. All the sauces complement these items, but the honey mustard is bomb!!!

Back in May, I looked through Yelp's list of the best one hundred Burger Spots and came upon Next level Burger Ballard. I looked all around the state of Washington for burger joints, but I could only find one that specialized in vegan or vegetarian cuisine. It should go without saying that Next Level did not end up on the list. Ha ha! But in all seriousness, I discovered them by going to a place that engaged in activities that I detested! Nevertheless, Next Level lived up to, if not exceeded, its billing! There is no escape from the flames of Level's Beyond Fire Burger! Wait? Have I correctly utilized that phrase? To heck with it! But in all seriousness, the burger is dripping with flavor and incredibly delicious. In light of the fact that it was a cheat day, I went ahead and added an Organic Peanut Butter Cup smoothie to the mix so that I could call the whole thing off. Both were very much worth the one-hour and fifteen-minute travel. I really like how close this location is to the market and the waterfront; it makes the atmosphere here feel extremely friendly. The space is limited but pleasant to stay in. The only thing I have a problem with is the way the meal is presented. Aside from that, I'll be going back to take care of myself, and you should come with me. We really appreciate it, Next Level Burgers!

I'm a fan of their tater tots. Staff is very friendly. I also liked how there are so many kinds of vegan burgers to choose from. I feel like they could do a little better with the buns though - it felt like I was eating cardboard, a little tasteless. Also the patty started to break up midway so it was hard to eat. They're probably making the burger fresh so it takes a little longer than other fast food joint for the food to come out. So don't go there if you're in a rush.

Absolutely delicious! I got the beyond burger, which is a classic American burger with dill pickles, tomato, and lettuce, and it's the juiciest burger I've had in a while. Everything is so fresh--no wilty lettuce or mealy tomatoes here! I'm super impressed. It tasted like a real beef patty. I think the special sauce I chose set it apart from a typical burger and I love that the regular fries has seasoning on it! Love, love, love! Coconut milk based milk shakes for the win! Come check it out!

Next Level Burger is pricey but very good! We shared a chz-burger with Impossible Patty, some of their "chicken" nuggets, and a soy strawberry milkshake. Everything was really tasty, especially the nuggets. Open-minded meat-eaters will find the food to be quite agreeable. The pricing is higher than it should be, especially given the "fast food" type presentation and atmosphere, and this will keep us from eating there too often. However, you are getting good food and supporting sustainable vegan dining. Definitely worth a try if you're curious!

Best onion rings. Service was attentive with smile, we know how rare that is. Ambiance was casual fun and clean. Plenty of parking and location is right across the new PCC & under Trufusion. Can't get better than that as far as location. Across Tj & Ross as well. Ghost pepper burger wasn't as spicy as I hoped. Strawberry shake Was so delicious. They have soy and coconut. I think strawberry is organic. Try inhouse made patties or beyond custom patties. All excellent.

Such a good vibe with delicious vegan grub! I've been to other locations and this one was super cute and in a great spot. I was able to take my food to go and eat by the dock. Loved the tater tots and coffee shake, yum. LinZ was super helpful with ordering and gave great recommendations, would love to go back when I'm in Seattle again!

I had plant based burgers in the past. I got their onion rings, which were good as the onions were sweet. Next level burger was way too dry for me. There wasn't enough sauce to balance out the dryness of the patties and the tempeh bacon. Everything tasted very grainy. The buns were dry and on the denser side.

Usual beyond patty and buttered and toasted buns. But the combinations and sauces work really well. They also gave me a cinnamon shake gummy sampler. Decent shake but very chewy gummy.

So this is more of a suggestion for the owners versus a criticism. I've frequented the Next Level Burger in Roosevelt countless times. It's always been a hit for me, zero disappointments each time. While I still enjoy the food at this location, it's not quite the same. They skimp on the sauce a lot - not enough for all your fries, random substitutes if they run out of something and they throw in boring cheese to cut down on the regular sauce. Even the small cups they give you on the side aren't full. Things are also often thrown together and given to you in smaller portions. It's really disappointing given how much I appreciate the Roosevelt location and to be honest, I think I'll just spend 20 min driving up there to be sure I get fair portions. But should they ever change things here (fingers crossed) I'll be back!!

I really like Next Level Burger! I've been to this location once and the wait for my online order was pretty long, but the employees were super nice and made sure to update everyone on their wait times. They even threw in some extra fries in my bag for the wait. I've been vegetarian for a really long time and it's so nice to go somewhere where you can eat most things on the menu. I enjoy the food and the shakes here, and will most definitely come back.

Best vegan burgers I've eaten! I tried the signature burger and their mushroom burger with their signature sauce! They were so so good! And their sweet potato fries are worth it too!

I had the fire cheeseburger and my fiancé had the signature artisan burger. Both were so good!!! I'm vegan, he still eats meat but he said next time we are in the area we are definitely stopping by again! Plenty of seating, the employees were so friendly, and the sauces were top tier. I saw others getting some delicious looking shakes so we will definitely be returning to try those!

Love the staff. Love the food. Love the price. Parking is easy (around 3:30-5 pm)....... Restaurant is clean with self order kiosk available, hand sanitizer, and restrooms. Different types of Pattie's, burgers, sides, dessert dairy free milkshakes available too. You can get an entire meal (PLUS THE TIP!) for under $15.....

I'm not vegan however I've always been curious about this place. The customer service was efficient and friendly. I ordered the Maverick with fries and a cookie dough shake. All of which were very delicious. Would definitely be back here again and I recommend this place.

I love love love this place so much. I work out upstairs at TruFusion and this month me and my gf tried our plant based journey and I'm so grateful to have them in Ballard. Everything about here is so perfect and no this is not sponsored lol I would start with the employees, David and another girl work there are the nicest people ever. And the food ughh chef kiss!!! We got the chicken burger and my girl got the classic one. We added some special fries and a strawberry milkshake, so so good and the portion is just perfect. If you love animal fries from in and out then get the special fries here cause it's 1000 times better. The place is clean and amazing music. I will keep coming back and i hope more ppl come here to support them bc they are so well deserved. Side note for anyone thinks this place is expensive - the ingredients for vegan food are not cheap at all.

Came here on a Friday morning. The waiters were very nice and helpful. Burgers were juicy and just on point. I liked their special sauce that goes on top of the fries. The best thing was their strawberry milkshake! It was really really really good. Restaurant looks clean and well-prepared for customers. Will definitely come back!

I had the most delicious vegan chicken burger here. The shakes are decadent. The space is clean and conveniently located. My food was ready quickly. My only complaint is that the small order of tater tots was ridiculously small, like kids meal sized. They are good so I wanted more of them, and for over $4 I would expect a slightly larger serving.

I want to like this place, but the wait to get food is pretty long and they left the chz and tempeh bacon off my burger (even though order screen was correct) so didn't really scratch the itch.

This place was so good! We came in right before close, and the workers were still extremely friendly and accommodating. The food tasted amazing and everyone was nice. This was a nice find during our vacation!

I'll keep it simple. The people that work there are nice but the menu id hard to read. The food is over priced and flavorless. 2 stars cause the staff was nice.

First timer here.. had the Signature Burger ... loved it! Also the space is very new and clean ( and they had an "excellent" health dept rating when I was there yesterday. And the service was fantastic! Courteous, helpful, and efficient. I'll be back!

please...that chicken sandwich was small, the amount of tots was small, and they tasted just like any other joints in town, and I paid $17. my coworkers paid $21 and $25 for burgers and fries with a flat soda! and all those prices were before the tip screen. We we're amped to try out the new burger place but surely won't be going back. If this is how much you have to charge to stay alive in this market, that's just another indicator of how broken it is.
