14 Chicago Bars Where You Can Dance

"Despite the tongue-in-cheek “no dancing” neon sign, Nights & Weekends in the West Loop is a great place to bop to everything from club bangers to ‘90s throwbacks to disco. This retro-styled bar has guest DJs and a dance floor that gets crowded after 11pm, but you’ll find plenty of small groups taking shots and having dance parties near the booths that line the room. Get here before 7pm for $5 tequila shots and draft margarita Happy Hour deals, and you might even save on cover." - sam faye, veda kilaru, nick allen

Explore Nights & Weekend, Heisler’s new West Loop bar - Eater Chicago

"Nights & Weekends, Heisler Hospitality’s newest bar, opens Thursday night near the northwest corner of Lake and Morgan streets. The bar features a 4,500-square-foot space with a 60-foot bar, and aims to cater to various types of bargoers. The cocktail menu, developed by general manager Anthony Mitchell, focuses on quickly prepared drinks, including 'funky highballs' and loaded Topo Chicos. With a focus on fun and providing a good time, the bar also features art installations and a design aimed at encouraging social interaction. Despite still being a work in progress due to supply chain issues, the management is excited for the opening after three years of planning and delays." - aimee.levitt

Let me say that we came here after work and super early, but that is not a reflection on my review. I've attached pics so you can see how HUGE it is. The place itself is super cool, right next to Federales and under the Morgan stop. The problem is the drink menu was pretty blah, I'm not a highball person and spiked topo chico drinks aren't our thing. We did two mixed drinks and for $18 it wasn't anything special and was way overpriced. They do live music starting at 10p Tburs - Sat and I'm excited to come back and see that. I think the place was designed super well, huge place, big dance floor in the back. But without any food are they hoping people will come here to party and not bar hop? What about people after work who want an app and drinks? When there is a line at Feds in the summer I bet people come in, if they keep coming back will be the big question...

Google
Terrible got in line majority of everyone out there look a mess. Dirty gym shoes, flats and everything else, the guys at the door was completely rude. Told them my friend was celebrating her birthday there and the security said what you a celebrity or something we don’t do events here. Proceeded to ask for my I.d and searched my purse then ask for 20$ to get in and then said you have on crocs you can’t get in. Not only did you do the most but was extremely rude not to mention I spoke with the owner and asked what is not acceptable to get in he only said crocs and that they are a liability! If glass break by the bar we can be sued but mind you my crocs was the platform crocs. You already let over 20 girls in with flats which can also be a liability and then you let in a girl in with some slide in mules! Definitely a red flag for me. Especially when I showed the owner and all he said was yea there’s really no difference but you shouldn’t want to spend your money where you’re not welcomed! He’s right and i didn’t and will never 👎 go back.

Google
Went last night for the first time and had a absolute ball. I loved the diversity of people and music. Honestly even with some song selections everyone was having a great time and going with the flow lol. I will be returning soon. My only issue was the drinks but now I know to pregame lol

Google
Large, accesible spot with good music and good drink. Really convenient spot in a popular neighborhood. While other bars like Tribe and Federales will be packed, Nights and Weekends is typically able to get into. The night we were there they had a DJ playing afro-latin vinyl (which was fantastic). Seems like other reviews had different music, so ymmv. Overall a great spot that only loses a star with some limited selection and prices on some of the drinks. Overall, good for a group looking for good music and no hassle.

Google
Security refused to accommodate our disabled friend but then let their friend park out front. It was a public parking spot. Where the management at?

Google
Thursday and Friday is $5 Tequila happy hour! The music is always hitting and the environment is amazing.

Terrell

Google
The crowd is mature people looking to enjoy themselves without all the riff raff that comes with dealing with a younger crowd. I love the decor and vibe of the bar. The DJ plays really good old school hip-hop and R&B

Mimi

Google
This place was alright. It’s loud and happening, and you can get a table for your friends. However, the dancing was subpar because the music really wasn’t curated well.

Yelp
Bald guy was super rude and wouldn't let us in even though the sign said they open at 5. He shut the door on us without telling us when they open.
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place. I was in Chicago for 2 days and if time permitted I would've went here both nights. The music was such a vibe between old and new so there was something for the mildly diverse crowd. Most people were upper 20's to mid 30's. Their mixed drinks are so good they have a solid amount of alcohol in them. If you're visiting you should definitely go.

Yelp
I don't know if this is a new bar or not, but I stumbled upon it on my way back to my car after lunch at Federales on a Saturday afternoon. We dropped in for a short drink before heading home as the DJ was getting things started. The DJ began playing R&B tunes from the '90s, and at that point I was turnt!! Apparently the music was appealing to passersby, as more and more people began to trickle in to enjoy themselves. The drink was good and the bartender was pretty chilld. Man, let me tell you, the vibe at this joint was off the charts! And can we just take a moment to give a shoutout to the DJ who was absolutely killing it that night? Major kudos! This seems like a decent spot to hang out with friends.

Yelp
Carmen made a difference to us here. She is the only bartender who smiles and has a nice attitude. Don't get me wrong, all the bartenders are attentive but it is all business. Carmen puts some humanity in the place. She is fast server and always checks in to see if we were enjoying ourselves. She also gave good tips on our drinks as well. Definitely I would return just as long as Carmen is working behind the bar

Yelp
Super disappointed. Been wanting to come for a while and finally got the chance in a Friday night. There was a $10 cover charge at the time we arrived. Which sucks cause it wasn't actually that crowded in there plus music didn't sound too popping. We made our way to the dance floor and the DJ was terribly wack. Playing songs that were making me feel like I was living back my Disney Channel era. Next DJ was a LITTLE better but still not a vibe. You would think we would have more Drake and Bad Bunny songs especially when they're topping all the charts. Definitely not a place if you're trynna listen to current hits apparently. Cute decor tho.

Yelp
Quite surprised by some of the other poor reviews/interactions, but I came here with a small group and we loved this place! We were able to snag a little curved booth by the wall close to the bar, and really enjoyed our experience. The music was first playing more of some classic Disco hits and then it started transitioning to more hip hop and reggaeton which was much appreciated. Drinks were good, and the pricing was pretty standard given being in the West Loop. While we didn't make our way to the actual dance floor, we still did our own dancing nearby where we sat. I loved the vibe in here with the aesthetics and decor/lighting. My only reservation was that the speakers surrounding us sounded a little shot out. They may need some new ones? Will return for sure!

Yelp
The bartender with box braids, white crop, cargo pants and waist beads was the most ignorant bartender I have ever encountered in my life. I own a restaurant and I know service, today is Saturday, 7/8. Please understand multiple people in my party were disrespect by this bartender who assumed she was doing us a favor by making our drinks. When asking if there was cognac, she said I told your friend no, look the menu I'm not repeating myself. Someone ordered tequila for me, I explained I do not drink tequila can I please switch, she said she doesn't care as she posted it so I have to pay for it. Due to her miserable attitude I will not be back. Please let her know that she should get a 9-5 if working at night is misery. Her tip would've been 50% from me, instead I left zero. She deserved just that.

Yelp
I came to Nights and Weekends on a Friday night. I've been eagerly anticipating the chance to attend this venue. Much to my surprise , I wasn't met with the same enthusiasm. As I approached the front door, I notice a group of African American women awaiting their chance to enter the venue. Instead what I saw was a group of white representing men entering the bar after just arriving there. When I ( African American woman ) asked yo enter the venue, I was told that they weren't letting anyone else in for the night. Do not go here. I do not recommend it.

Yelp
I can't say much because we were only here for about 20 minutes but it was a great 20 minutes! My friend and I were on our way home from dinner and stopped here on a whim. Lucky for us, they had a happy hour special $5 margaritas and tequila shots, and this was a Saturday! The bartender was awesome and really friendly. They had just opened for the night so not many people were there yet, but if it were more crowded I think this would be a great place to spend a night or weekend (hence the name lol)
google avatar

Yelp
A mid-size bar with overpriced drinks, a nice looking interior with Southwest vibes, and where Mules aren't served in copper cups and taste off. I can't say music was anything special and very few people were dancing. The bartender was quick and friendly though.

Yelp
Fun new bar from the Heisler group and their first in the west loop. I'm a fan of this group's other bars like Sportsman's Club and Queen Mary for their chill vibes and strong drinks at decent prices. N&W has a chill vibe too, lots of seating around the longest bar I've ever seen, and also plenty of booths. There's a dance floor that starts getting busy after 930pm when the bar starts to fill up and music volume also goes up. That was my cue to leave, since I wasn't in that kind of mood that night, but maybe another. You'll be paying west loop prices here for drinks. An old fashioned is $18, and they have a section of topo chico cocktails which is literally a bottle of topo chico topped off with liquor of choice (like campari) which will run you $16.

Yelp
You can go to most of the men bartenders & they will look out for you. The woman, not so much. You'll thank me later ;)
google avatar

Kaitlin C.

Yelp
Don't sleep on the $3 Old Styles. We went on a Friday night and there was a DJ. It was pretty crowded and took awhile to get through the line to the bar. Comfy booths were honestly the best feature.

Jen V.

Yelp
Had a great time at this spot - great music, great drinks, great bartenders. It was pretty slow when we went but it was a Tuesday night and we had a big group so it was a win win.

Yelp
Love! This place just opened and already excited to go back. Gorgeous space right in the heart of the west loop. Drinks were very good and service was wonderful. I accidentally spilled my drink and the bartender was so sweet and got me a new one. No one was on the dance floor but I imagine once this place gets more popular it will be packed. Def try this place out! :)

Yelp
What happened to this place?? 6 months ago, was super fun with a crowd that danced & DJ who spun great music. Sri me were reasonably priced and the the guy at the front was cool :) Now, it's trash... 10 (for...?) Rude staff Dirty af Harrible (not horrible, harrible!!) music with a lazy DJ Never again.
google avatar

Kimberly S.

Yelp
Great vibe. Great bartender. We went I believe the first or second day this place opened (so this review is laaate). Drinks are solid. I do think they should set their drink prices at $15 across the board ( as opposed to a staggered pricing system ($13, $16, $18). But overall this place is solid.

Yelp
This is an interesting bar. I was happy the first time I came with my friend in the aughts of 2020, yet now, it's not the same. I stood at the bar for about 20 minutes waiting to be served a drink, only to have bartenders go to different folk. It's fun, but it's not a place to have fun. There are many places around that give you better service.
google avatar

Mike W.

Yelp
I always appreciate a great Bartender. He was friendly, open to replacing a drink that wasn't the best mix from another bartender and made amazing cocktails for us.
google avatar

Taylor I.

Yelp
If you like to dance all night to top songs + 2000s hip hop/r&b - this is the place for you! I prefer house music but the vibe in this club is super fun if you are with a good group!
google avatar

Shawna S.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite bar in Fulton Market! Great music, great vibes, not overpriced.
google avatar

NaywriChi W.

Yelp
This is from Heisler Hospitality the group behind Lone Wolf, Estereo, Sportsman Club and a few more and this is their eighth location. The cocktail menu is developed by general manager Anthony Mitchell (Revel Room). This is 4,500-square-foot space that includes a 60-foot bar.
google avatar

Desiree R.

Yelp
Came here for a friends DJ set (DJ DEVINCI SPINNS) and the vibes were on point , ambiance was lit and I had such a great night! Definitely will be coming back.

Sarah D.

Yelp
Do NOT go to this bar, someone spiked my drink!!The bartenders don't give out water, and instead you have to drink from a water cooler near the dance floor. Within 3 minutes of getting water and drinking it, I noticed a partially dissolved capsule in my glass and residue on the water's surface. When I told management about it, their response was to offer me and my friends free shots. AFTER I TOLD HIM I INGESTED AN UNKNOWN DRUG. I'm not sure if he ever closed off the water cooler out of caution. They could have called the cops or checked cameras, but instead they focused on making money. Upon leaving, I felt eyes on me all around the bar. DO NOT GO HERE!
google avatar

Yelp
The spot is cool but honestly the DJ is simply wack. No good music here. They played HipHop for 15min and the entire bar immediately got energized and was having a blast. The DJ promptly went back to wack house / techno after and the bar completely died. How can any DJ worth their salt not adjust their set to the crowd / what ppl actually want to hear? Don't go.
google avatar

Marquise T.

Yelp
I was told to go to Federals and couldn't get in so my lady and I went next door. We had two cocktails that lasted us through the night and we danced all night long.

Alec D.

Yelp
New(ish) spot in the West Loop. Drinks are $18 and pretty disappointing. The West Loop has pretty reliable drinks at almost every other restaurant and usually only run around $15. I tried to contact management about a charge on my card that I wasn't sure was correct and they never responded. Recently, my wife went here a 2nd time months later and had a bad experience with a rude bartender. Cool concept to add a more lively and true "bar" to the West Loop, but execution just isn't there right now. Maybe some more time and summer crowds will improve things.
google avatar

Colden G.

Yelp
I like this spot. 15 minute happy hour, yes please. Also the gentleman behind the bar with the nice hair (afroish) made great drinks. Will be back.
google avatar

Siri M.

Yelp
This is a cool new addition to west loop! The music was great and I liked the overall vibe. I'd definitely come back for another night out!

Kwamè W.

Yelp
Random short guy with a Napoleon complex who worked cleaning up the bar was very rude, instead of simply saying excuse me, he rudely uttered the phrase "watch out". Myself and my friends were asked to leave after asking for simple respect. Understandingly he hates his job but no reason to treat people supporting this establishment that way. Won't be returning for this reason. Hire better help.

Kayla E.

Yelp
This place was fun when it opened up but it has completely changed. They stopped playing hip hop music to attract a different crowd. They clearly want a certain crowd. Drinks are over priced. This place sucks.

Alison H.

Yelp
I used to love nights & weekends, started coming when the bar first opened and celebrated my birthday here with friends in the spring. Over the last couple of months, the weekend vibe has totally shifted and I can only pinpoint it back to one thing - the music. The DJ sets we've listed to the last few times we've been have been horrendous and it's turned the whole place into a revolving door of customers who walk in, listen to a few songs and leave. Would love to see things change.

Kayla C.

Yelp
When it first opened Nights and weekends was the best new bar in Chicago. The line was long....yes, but there was no cover, the music was good, and the drinks were reasonably priced. I couldn't make a stop in the west loop without stopping at nights and weekends. Recently, things have changed, there's a cover, and the music is very different, very techno..... just very different from what they originally hit the scene with.
google avatar

Christopher L.

Yelp
It's a fun place to hang out with friends and they have nice fucking jams! Quick service!
google avatar

Angela M.

Yelp
Went to see a favorite DJ play. It's a nice vibe. Bar service was a bit slow though. It can get packed pretty quickly on weekends nights

Niki S.

Yelp
Music isn't danceable whatsoever. But if your vibe is kesha, 21 pilots and Gangnam Style then this is the place for you. And hey all you gotta do is pay a $10 cover and wait an hour for a drink

Lori J.

Yelp
Love the interior and really wanted to make this a frequented spot but I think the drinks are over priced 16$ for a topo Chico and soda ?!? I just can't justify that
