"Located in Asiatown’s Dun Huang Plaza at 9889 Bellaire Blvd Ste D-220, I visited Meccha Matcha during its soft-opening and found a matcha-obsessed shop — a DFW export — offering a wide variety of matcha-infused treats: lattes, affogato, ice cream, soft serve, and shaved ice, which can be topped with granola, red beans, strawberry sauce, whipped cream, matcha jelly, mochi balls, and house-made matcha chocolate. “Meccha,” which means “very” in Japanese, is the project of 27-year-old Joseph Be, who comes from a family of restaurateurs and wants to bring an authentic Japanese experience via Japanese-influenced interiors and a mural of super kawaii dogs and cats. The shop is in soft-opening now and operates Sunday–Thursday 12–11 p.m. and Friday–Saturday 12 p.m.–12 a.m., with plans for rapid Texas expansion." - Alaena Hostetter
