Yelp
Ok but I don't understand the hype.
THE PLACE: Located in Wynwood, street parking is probably your only option and can always be extremely tricky to find. Outside they have a giant mural with an alligator and a boy - make sure to pay attention that the door is hidden within this mural - I like many others walked past it. Inside, the restaurant is super tiny, but full of vibrant colors, mirrors, and cool lighting .
THE FOOD: Upon seating, we ordered a round of drinks, I had the cherry Negroni 3/5 - nice taste great presentation, but I'm sure it was less than half of a cup, considering the big block of ice that they put.
We tried several dishes and shared it between four people. Whenever a dish was brought out someone would come out and explain exactly what it was and how it was cooked. This really added to the experience and we were grateful for it. On our visit we had: Dumplings 2/5 - the dumpling itself had parts in which were hard as if it were undercooked, flavor was off and on the bland side, scallops 5/5 absolutely delicious and perfect and texture and ingredient contrast, udon 5/5 a bit slimy in texture, but tasted incredible, Waygu sando (highly promoted everywhere!) 1/5 was an absolute disappointment and so overpriced! The bread was a nice crunchy, soft texture nothing special, the meat was tender but unseasoned and frankly felt unsalted and finally the tuna 2/5 it was OK, again nothing special under very underwhelming.
For dessert, we had the miso flan 5/5 - surprisingly thick creamy and rich texture, with a beautiful blend of salty and sweet.
THE SERVICE: Our water cups were constantly refilled, and we were always attended to, and the staff was fantastic. Our waiter was also the guy who would come and speak to us about each dish - I wish I could remember his name because he was the best.
Towards the end of our visit, a woman started taking our orders -in fact when we ordered our dessert . When it was time to pay, we split the check between four people and each time she would give us a cardholder so we can process our payment. When half of the group had paid, she rudely interrupted and stated " have we done something wrong? None of you have tipped us at all." - she said this with entitlement, greed, and attitude. Not only was she incorrect in her statement, because half of those had already given the tip and the other half hadn't paid yet, and we're also going to give her cash. But she was so rude! Disgusting. I don't understand why anyone thinks it's OK to say this. While tip is customary, let's remember is not obligatory.
That really killed the energy for us and I will likely be more encouraged to not recommend the restaurant for it.
