The Best New Restaurants in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"Iconic Japanese lounge restaurant Nobu has debuted at the historic Hotel del Coronado as part of the resort’s $550 million renovation. Opened in early May, the upscale chain restaurant specializing in Peruvian-inflected modern Japanese food by chef Nobu Matsuhisa occupies a 150-seat indoor-outdoor space. Of course, there’s Matsuhisa’s famous miso black cod, though the lengthy menu offers grilled skewers, sushi, and tempura at sometimes eye-watering prices. —Matthew Kang, Eater Southern California/Southwest" - Helen I. I'm honestly surprised by any of the lower ratings. Our experience at the sushi bar was absolutely incredible. The staff was warm, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome from the moment we sat down. We were able to order specialty rolls and sushi directly from the chef, who was engaging, skilled, and happy to customize our meal. The black cod miso was to die for--perfectly cooked, rich, and flavorful. As someone who has experienced high-end sushi in other major cities, this was easily one of the most memorable dining experiences I've had in a while. The quality, ambiance, and personalized service made it feel truly special. Highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar if you're looking for something intimate, interactive, and delicious.

We had an amazing evening at the new Nobu at Hotel Del Coronado. The hostesses seated us right away at a beautiful ocean-view table, and the manager, Michael, personally welcomed us—which was a great touch. We asked for an omakase experience and were treated to a diverse lineup of hot and cold signature dishes. Everything was delicious, and the service was flawless—our drinks were always full, and the pacing was perfect. The new space is sexy, serene, and a fantastic addition to Coronado. Can’t wait to come back.

I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. From the start, there were small but noticeable service issues—there weren’t enough menus for our party of three, water glasses went unfilled for too long, and we had to ask for drink refills. The ambiance also felt off. Rather than the elevated, refined vibe you’d expect from a Nobu-style restaurant, the patio gave off more of a casual beach pool bar atmosphere. On a positive note, the presentation of the food was beautiful. However, the flavors were just average—nothing memorable or worth the steep prices. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend dining here. There are plenty of better options in San Diego that offer more enjoyed experience and better value.

Another fantastic location added to the ever-growing Nobu Empire! A bit on the smaller side compared to other Nobu Restaurants but the spot is amazing, with indoor as well as ourdoir seating. Staff members are knowledgeable, friendly and very hospitable. Food is delicious as always! Get there early for prime bar seats and great people watching 😊

Google
Excellent experience all around. Our server Ian gave a detailed guide through the menu and the best selection. He recommended the Chilean sea bass and the black cod miso which were amazing. Excellent experience and would come back.

Google
It’s not surprising that the food is phenomenal. The Miso Cod was like butter - the Lobster ceviche was spicy and loaded with unique flavor. The wine list was lovely. We will order the Chardonnay of the owner’s vintage again. The service could not be better. Adil has such a fun personality and knew that menu back and forth. Not overwhelming us but there whenever we needed something. We will be coming back and look forward to sampling more items on that wonderful menu.

Great ambience and food. Would highly recommend the miso black cod and ribeye in truffle butter. Andrew gave great service as well! We had an issue with a dessert option and he rectified it immediately!

Yelp
As someone who's had the pleasure of dining at Nobu Doha at the Four Seasons and the serene Nobu in Malibu, I thought I had experienced the full range of what Nobu hospitality had to offer--until I met Giovanni at the Nobu in Hotel del Coronado. In all my years enjoying Nobu across the globe, never have I encountered a level of warmth, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality like Giovanni's. From the moment we were seated, he anticipated every need without being intrusive, made thoughtful recommendations that enhanced our entire meal, and brought an energy that made the evening feel truly special not just like dining out, but like being a guest of honor. Ambiance immaculate. Giovanni embodies everything that makes Nobu exceptional but elevates it even further. He blends the art of fine service with authentic personality and care, something that can't be trained or scripted. He's a rare talent, and a true asset to the Nobu brand. Thank you, Giovanni for making a longtime Nobu guest feel like it was their first time all over again. I'll be asking for you by name on every return visit. (Also very handsome)

Yelp
Context before diving deep: Service was mixed. Our server, while new, tried to do her best to provide a friendly, positive dining experience. That being said, she needs to do her homework. The "wasabi" presented to us had a horseradish punch to it and when we asked her, "Does the restaurant mix in horseradish with the wasabi paste? Her response, "Wasabi is horseradish" (it's not, they're two different things) While I'm perfectly fine with the server not knowing at most restaurants, this is a high end, fine dining establishment. She represents the front of the house and details matter at this level. That being said, she did come back to us at the end of the meal to let us know: 1. The wasabi does contain horseradish 2. They have fresh wasabi for an extra $20, which would've been nice to know as that fresh wasabi would've taken the sushi to the next level!!! A perfect upsell opportunity wasted :( Separately, they kindly changed plates after each round of food, and with five of us dining, that was quite a few fresh plates. If I could score just the service? 3 out of 5 Location: a few hundred yards from one of the most beautiful beaches in the state of California + on NASNI approach, where we saw F-22s (USAF was doing something there during our dining experience!), F-18s, an E-2, and Blue Angle #4? Woooo! 5 out of 5 Now, on to the food..... NOTE: The ingredients used for the food are top notch, there's no doubt the restaurant starts with great raw materials. The execution on the other hand, well, read on! Hot food - a mix of some of the best to some of the "meh" 1. Black Cod Miso - Fantastic - I can see why people love it. The fish was perfectly cooked and had a nice, subtle miso flavor. That being said for nearly $70, it'd be nice to have a little extra garnish outside of the banana leaf it was sitting on - maybe some rice or other edible garnish to complement it! 2. Umami Chicken Karaage - A couple of issues here a. Karaage was pounded flat(ish), so more of a katsu style cutlet. The pounding was uneven, so the cook was uneven, resulting in some really dry, hard spots. b. Traditional Karaage has a hint of ginger flavor, which was fully lacking here. Again, it was more of a Katsu, so maybe they simply misnamed the dish. That being said, the sauce they paired with the dish was nice. 3. Lobster tacos - Fantastic, tasty, balanced, crunchy, and bite sized! While $18 / taco, it was def a highlight of the meal 4. Edamame - Solid, but basic, hard to elevate OR mess this one up at a restaurant level. Cool finish with the Maldon Sea Salt Flakes. If I could score just the hot food? 4 out of 5 A little hot / cold: Crispy Spicy Tuna - Fun deconstructed version of the deep fried rice with spicy tuna on top. We had ~6, 1" cubes of fried rice, which was nicely fried, not greasy, and fun sized. The spicy tuna itself was buttery but lacked the little extra punch you expect from spicy tuna. 3 out of 5 Sushi - BRUTAL. NOTE - they price per piece, which is fine, but they do not state that the minimum order is 2! 1. Scallop - Inconsistent delivery. The rice on one of the two was fantastic, no issues. The rice on the other one was way undercooked - it was hard and very chewy. They either have issues cooking the rice, e.g. the batch is too large OR they switched batches of rice between making the first from the second. 2. Tuna - Both were fine 3. Yellowtail - Both were fine 4. Salmon - Both were fine 5 and 6: Salmon avocado roll and CA roll - Terrible as the rolls were poorly rolled, worse than grocery store sushi! Whoever was making them squeezed with uneven pressure resulting in teardrop shaped sushi. Sure, it doesn't affect the taste, texture, enjoyment of the maki, but for being hyped as a high-end, fine dining Japanese establishment, I would expect the basics to be mastered. 2 out of 5 Overall, location is second to none, service was good, but not great, and the food, which to me, is the most important part of the meal, was far below high-end. IF one was expecting a basic strip mall sushi experience, it'd be a 4 or 5 out of 5, but THIS IS NOBU, which is supposed to be legendary. It fell far short of that and as a first timer to a Nobu? This will be the last time. I strongly recommend against going until Matsuhisa-san comes back to reestablish the Nobu standards.

Yelp
This past spring two luxury brands came together with the opening of Nobu at the Hotel Del Coronado. Even though there was already a Nobu restaurant in the Gaslamp Quarter about five miles away, it seemed like a logical pairing. I came recently on a weekend because I learned that Nobu is now open for lunch. That alleviated the long waitlist for a dinner reservation if you're willing to come earlier in the day to enjoy the same menu. The suite was located to the right of another newly opened dining venue on the south side of the property. I asked the hostess if there was available seating, and she led me to a spot at the eight-person sushi bar. The place was about 2/3 full before the dinner rush began. The best seating was on the front patio where you could glimpse the beach and ocean off in the distance. Two full pages and two smaller half pages made up the food menu. Having dined at the other SD location many years ago and also trying out various higher end Japanese restaurants in town, I found the prices to be extraordinarily high. I understand that part of the experience was that you would be paying for the reputation of the business, but I agreed with the assessment of the other lower rated reviews. The first item on the list of Hot Dishes was Nobu's signature entree which was the Black Cod Miso. I chose this hot dish because I didn't order it when I dined at the Gaslamp venue. What didn't make sense was how the version here was priced at $65!! That was 35% higher than any other Nobu location, including their flagship in Malibu. I thought perhaps there would be more than just a fish fillet glazed with miso sauce, but I was sadly mistaken. How they arrived at such a markup was bewildering because just several miles away, the cost was less than $50. The sushi prices were also a gut punch to the wallet. Fourteen dollars for a vegetable handroll?! All of the nigiri sushi and sashimi were priced by the piece. I chose two pieces of nigiri... Golden Eye Snapper and Japanese Red Snapper (tai) which set me back $25. You can get equally good, if not better, quality fish for half the cost at local upscale Japanese eateries. I gave the service a four star rating, the food quality a three star rating, and the value a one star rating. I was underwhelmed by this Nobu experience and couldn't award more than two stars overall.

Yelp
I dined at Nobu Hotel del Coronado on the second night of their official opening. I parrked just west of the hotel on the street, which was easy. I was aware of the costly valet parking, which I wanted to avoid. In 1985 I used to dine at a little Sushi Bar on La Cienega Boulevard in West Hollywood named "Matsuhisa" , which was the first "Nobu". The restaurant is located in three sections. Specifically, there is a patio at the entrance. After that, there is a kind of covered mezzanine. Thereafter, the room extends into the interior. I like the mezzanine area the best. I think the patio is too common and does not feel like "Nobu". Also, at night there are harsh red lighting that is unpleasant. I like the fairly priced Nobu Champagne from France. There are two different Champagne flutes offered. Many of the dishes come topped with caviar, which is fun. The staff is uniformly courteous and efficient. The bill for one person with tax and tip was $400.00, and it was worth it.

Yelp
Location: Hotel Del Coronado, skinny ocean view from patio Service was great. They yell at you when u walk in which is cool. Food was good tbh. But grossly overpriced. My favorites are the crispy rice and spicy tuna, truffle ribeye, lychee martini. I would recommend these 100%. The tiradito style sashimi was mid. Oysters (chef special) 3 for 30$ was just okay. Nothing to write home about. This is a great place to go if want to tell everyone you ate at Nobu. Malibu location is better imo.

Yelp
Oh man how disappointed I was I can't even explain. I went on grand opening night. First of all the menu was so tiny! Literally 1/3 of options compared to the downtown location. They didn't have their signature drink of passion fruit sake??? It ended up being a 2.5 hour dinner because they gave our dish to another table and didn't realize it until 30 mins after it was supposed to to be served. Manager came and apologized and comped us desserts and was suppose to comp that actual dish but when we got the receipt everything was on there. Complained once again and he comped the dessert lol FYI we weren't even wanting dessert

Yelp
From the moment you step into the new Nobu Del Coronado, it's clear this is more than just a restaurant -- it's an immersive experience in coastal elegance and culinary precision. Nestled in the historic Hotel del Coronado, this new Nobu location offers panoramic ocean views and delicious food. My husband and I shared many plates but of course our two favorites were the Jalapeño Yellowtail which is a classic Nobu dish and the sashimi salad! Let me tell you the service was on point! The staff was so friendly and very tentative to us. We had an excellent experience and can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This was my first time to this location. Staying at the Del made it super convenient. I will say the service from the start was outstanding. Greeted and seated right away. We were outside on the patio and the sun shifted so we asked to be moved inside and they were totally accommodating. The recs from beginning to end were amazing. Wish I would have taken some good shots but I was enjoying the food and experience too much haha. The octopus was insane, as was their house specialty roll (can't remember the name but it was topped with bluefin). It wasn't too loud but the vibes were up beat. Obviously not a cheap dinner but well worth it!

Yelp
NOBU is a nice addition to Coronado located in Hotel Del Coronado, facing a beautiful view of Coronado Beach. My wife and I had dinner here. Today is their second day of opening their restaurant here in Coronado . We are very familiar with the food that the Chef makes here because we often dine in at their other location in Gaslamp. My wife ordered everything, we had Cheft special for the day the Chutoro Jalapeno, Crispy Okra , Squid pasta, House cut roll, Pina Martini, and Banana toban for dessert. Our server Alex was very knowledgeable about their menu and constantly checked on us. As always Nobu never disappoints us, Nobu always delivers beautiful and delicious food and services. All in all a great restaurant to dine in with Family and friends.

Yelp
Food was outstanding! Expensive dinner, but we found the experience worth the cost. Went within the first month of opening, so they were still working through getting their rhythm, I'm sure the service is better now. Nice location at the Hotel Del Coronado.
google avatar

Yelp
Can you ever go wrong with NOBU? I've been to the Fort Lauderdale location and the brand new Del Coronado location holds up to their spectacular standards. While it does hold a hefty price, the service and quality of food is unmatched. If you are staying at Del Coronado, it's a must to visit here. The ambiance is at the heart of the Del is also amazing
google avatar

Shellie H.

Yelp
Bar is very small and only outside. Lychee martinis were way too sweet and not consistent with other Nobu locations. Service was not that great. The bar is so small workers are bumping into each other and there is no communication on who's helping who. Menu is smaller and limited as they just opened few weeks ago. We asked for hot sauce as well as extra ginger and had to ask a few times as it never came. In addition, we had a gift card to use only to be told they cannot honor it for us here. No manger came over to talk to us. Please do better, we were really excited for this location to open.

Yelp
My husband brought me here for dinner yesterday at NOBU DEL CORONADO, I'm glad he made a reservation ahead of time 'coz the restaurant was filled fast. We were seated where I could see where they make their Sushi and I love it. Our server Alex went through the Menu with us before ordering and we decided to ordered the following: *PINA MARTINI *CRISPY OKRA *CHUTURO JALAPENO *SQUID PASTA *HOUSE SPECIAL ROLL *BANANA TOBAN DESSERT My PINA MARTINI was delicious, very fruity, and refreshing. I love OKRA a lot and their CRISPY OKRA GARLIC PONSU was nice, it's crunchy on the outside and still soft inside, very simple but good. The CHEF SPECIAL for the day was the CHUTURO JALAPENO, this was absolutely amazing. Chuturo is a cut of Blue Fin Tuna, specifically the medium Fatty belly portion. My husband ordered his usual order he gets at Nobu Gaslamp, the SQUID PASTA, it had veggies with cut Squid and a light Garlic sauce. I tasted it and for me it was just alright. We also had the HOUSE CUT ROLL. It has 5 different fish on it, they are fresh-made, but I felt like something was missing but I couldn't figure it out. I didn't enjoy it much. For our dessert my husband and I shared the BANANA TOBAN, omg this dessert is delicious! I love the Caramelized Bananas and Candied Pecans together, but you have to eat them together with the Malaga Gelato (Ice cream) because without the Ice cream it is too sweet, this dessert is good. The ambiance is nice and we had excellent service from ALEX. All of the staff we encountered here were friendly and nice. Delicious food with a such nice location at Hotel Del Coronado facing the Coronado beach.

Yelp
Having dined at the original Nobu in Tribeca NY in 2005 and again in 2006, I will be completely honest with you-- Nobu isn't even in the top 10 Sushi restaurants in NYC. I am a sushi fanatic for lack of a better term. And no, not the cooked, faux crabmeat maki that many Americans regard as sushi, but the real deal. I became such a purist, I began fishing/spearfishing for my own (see enclosed pics). Nobu became famous only due to its affiliation with Robert DeNiro. And as I am not a "star-struck" individual, I don't understand the draw to this restaurant. It is by far one of the most pretentious on the planet. Unlike the truly incredible places where I have dined previously (French Laundry, El Bulli), Nobu's extremely high prices are NOT representative of high quality ingredients, but simply based upon the aforementioned. After reading the first paragraph one is now vexed and asking themselves 'why then would he try this Nobu' Great question! Allow me to explain. This newest addition to the Nobu empire is located in one of my favorite Hotels on the planet--The iconic Hotel Del Coronado. With its stunning views, crisp, salty breezes and perfect location perched upon the southern end of Ocean blvd, just slightly north of the harbor; you will be hard-pressed to find its match anywhere in the world. Moreover, being that California is considerably more laid back than NY, I thought perhaps they would be welcoming, even relaxed. That's what I get for thinking. Stop that! As it pertains to ambience, Nobu has struck pure gold here; rather platinum. The establishment is masterfully designed and not a single detail was overlooked. It's a difficult and delicate task to place heaters in just the right spot as to not overwhelm the guest, yet create a very comfortable atmosphere whilst subduing the oftentimes biting chill coming off of the Pacific this time of year. Thusly, if it's a view you are after or perhaps you simply want to be seen rubbing elbows with the Kardashians (yes, unfortunately there was a sighting of one of the K gang last night two tables down) then by all means make a reservation and enjoy. However, if it's high quality sushi you seek, you may want to try one of the local favorites downtown. I want to be very fair here, I am not going to opine ad nauseam about the service. Nobu DC recently opened and the staff has yet to hit their stride. Anyone who has worked in the industry understands the soft-opening/grand-opening concept and I have no doubt they will work out their issues with same very quickly. In closing I will have to say this one last thing regarding my visit. Even though one of the bartenders was a very pleasant individual, when I asked him for a dirty Belvedere martini, he simply stared at me as if I'd asked him the square root of something. You have to work on that... Until next time- Ciao Bella

Yelp
The service was great here but the food was overpriced. The food was okay, but definitely not worth the amount of money it cost. This place is extremely overhyped and I can find sushi just as good as this for $5 at the grocery store.
google avatar

Julio G.

Yelp
Very amazing spot. Also has an authentic nobility feeling inside. Make sure you have a reservation since I saw a lot of walk ups get turned away. No 5 stars mainly bc when you pay so much you want an amazing experience and I would say it was good but not amazing. But, with cost of the view I am not sure I should be complaining.

Ellery D.

Yelp
One of the best meals of my life!! Keilani gave us incredible recommendations and was so great!! Overall, amazing atmosphere, experience, food, and service!!
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Yes, San Diego needed a new Nobu and Nobu Del Coronado is gorgeous. Tropical feel with a gorgeous ocean view and lovely, mostly open air dining. I sat at the bar while we waited for our table. Bartenders were very welcoming and friendly. A spot opened up next to me and my husband attempted to join me but was turned away - more on that later. We had a fabulous dinner and service was excellent. Had to order all of the classics we love - yellow jalapeno, spicy tuna crispy rice, miso black cod, baby artichoke salad, rock shrimp tempura. And of course a whole lot of sushi, which was great. I've been to a lot of Nobus and this one has wonderful ambiance and views - highly recommend. So overall a great experience with excellent service, sans a hostess named GG, Gigi - who gave my husband nasty side eye as he walked in to join me at the bar. The second he was about to sit in the chair next to me, she let him know, without an ounce of tact or remorse, that she was going to save the seat for a reservation. This was frustrating after the other hostesses confirmed it's open seating and I was welcome to find a seat while we wait for our table.
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
I was very excited to try to the newest Nobu at Hotel Del Coronado and sad to say it fell below my expectations. The hostess was very nice to move us inside since we requested outside but weren't close to a heater and it was next to the wait station. I always start off with a cocktail or glass of wine to relax before my meal. Unfortunately, they didn't have the bottle of white Sancerre I ordered and it took 20 minutes to be informed that it wasn't in stock. It took another 10 minutes to get a cocktail that I substituted. I had my first dish of food before my beverage. The waitress apologized and made me aware that they were searching for it and I don't blame her, BUT whoever should have known (and took it off the menu) should have been the one to apologize. Hopefully she made them aware especially since there were numerous managers standing within a few feet of our table all night but no one ever took responsibility. The food was delicious, the service from all the amazing hard working employees was top notch, but overall I left feeling slighted and with a bad taste in my mouth.
google avatar

Nick S.

Yelp
I've been to Nobu restaurants worldwide, including the Malibu location. This location is charging at least 20% more than even the most exclusive restaurants in the portfolio. Black Cod Miso in Malibu is ~$45, here it's over $65. Same with the sushi, and pretty much every other dish. Not sure the posh hotel attachment warrants this much of a price increase nor should there be such a divergence in pricing from the rest of the chain. Unlikely I would return. At these prices Nobu is quite mid.
google avatar

Maddi F.

Yelp
Omg it was so good. Everything was so tasty and the service was great. The cod literally melted in our mouths. The setting was beautiful too.

Yelp
I visited Nobu del Coronado within its first few days of opening on a Monday evening and had a great experience overall. The ocean view is beautiful. Not as close to the water as the Malibu location, but it's still stunning, especially at sunset. We sat outside around 5:30 PM to enjoy the view. It did get a bit chilly, and I noticed that the tables for two didn't have heaters, though the larger tables did. I ordered the Lychee Passion mocktail, which is available at other Nobu locations and always enjoy. As someone who's sober, I was a bit disappointed by the limited selection. Only three mocktails compared to the broader options at downtown San Diego or Scottsdale. I started with the Yellowtail Jalapeño Hand Roll, one of my favorites, and it was as delicious as always. Our server recommended a location-exclusive: the Wild Salmon Spicy Shiso Serrano. I expected it to be spicy, but it was surprisingly sweet and came on a small bed of salad. It was good, but I think I would have preferred the Black Miso Cod. To celebrate my birthday, I ordered the bento box and was intrigued by the miso chocolate chip gelato. I gave it a try, and it ended up being my favorite part of the meal. Unique and so good! One nice touch was that they flew in the executive chef from the Chicago location. I used to live in Chicago and loved the Nobu there, so it was a pleasant surprise that added to the experience. Parking was easy to navigate. It's $39 for the first two hours in the hotel garage and $17 for every hour after. If you spend at least $100 and get your parking validated, you'll get $15 off. The restrooms are just around the corner outside the restaurant. The design was classy, though the cleanliness could have been a bit better. The service was warm and attentive, which I appreciated. You may hear military helicopters flying by due to the nearby naval base, but it didn't take away from the experience. If I can get a reservation close to sunset, I'd definitely return to this location. Otherwise, I'll probably stick with downtown San Diego for more variety and comfort.

Yelp
So happy we have a Nobu at the Del now everything was absolutely magnificent. In typical Nobu style the food was a 20/10 so delicious. I mean the sushi rolls oh my God don't even get me started the yellow tail the Toro everything !! the drinks oh my God, the Lychee martini please get two and we topped it off with that special icy dessert literally every table ordered one, yes it's that good!! Let's not forget about just the mere fact that you are sitting at the iconic Del Coronado hotel having dinner, Definitely a beautiful spot To dine and just enjoy life last little tip make a reservation. I would not recommend showing up without a reservation. I had made a reservation maybe a month- month and a half in advance it just opened but even without it just opening this is gonna be a popular hotspot. Make a reservation on open table. Thank me later.

Big thanks to the entire team. Gigi, Xitlalli, and chef Micheal were all phenomenal! Brought my son for a special meal and it didn't disappoint. Lifetime memories. Thank you!

Yelp
We have been eating sushi since 1979, ate sushi in Japan, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and with out a doubt this was the worse experience we have ever had. Not only was the selection limited, the roll wasn't even sliced to the same height, basic sushi chef knows how to do that. The quantity of fish that was in each item could have been put on a tea spoon. You couldn't even taste the fish because the serving was too small. Suggest send the sushi chef ? Back to get lessons on how to prepare sushi. Try fish attack for real sushi

Yelp
Cons: the table was sticky for all the guests at the table , the chopsticks were disposable and at that price point I'd expect high end everything , yes the portions were small and hence we had to get two bowls of rice to fill up and not starve , the lychee martini was not very good and not well balanced at all , the decor wasn't spectacular in any way , the server was nice but she seemed not well seasoned at all ... like it was her first serving gig , water was empty most of the stay and we had to ask for a refill , the valet is expensive and I paid $51 for just dinner (only $15 discount for dining) Pros: miso cod was good, being on the water is nice Overall, I wouldn't go back . My friends said that the Nobu in gaslamp and Chicago are much better , and the menu in Coronado is only 1/3 of what is available in other locations .

Yelp
Thank you to Julio, Diego, Jose & Sergio for going above and beyond to make our evening in Coronado an amazing one! And cheers to the ROCK ice cube!

Yelp
This was my first time at a Nobu ever, and my wife & I had an incredible experience. Full disclosure, I went in with low expectations after being told by some friends that most Nobu's are overrated & the food is just okay. But I'm so happy we went anyway, and even more excited it's now part of the hotel we love so dearly. First off, major shoutout to our server Adil/Adeel, he made the night so memorable. From incredible knowledge of everything on the menu, to just simple conversation, he really took care of us. Now the biggest comments I heard from people before we went was "there's so many better sushi places" ... Well that may be true, but we had so many non sushi dishes that left our taste buds begging for more. From the Rock Shrimp with creamy spicy sauce to the Wagyu Dumplings, each item was so good! But even then, we still had plenty of Sushi items including Salmon nigiri, Jalapeño Yellowtail, The House Special Rolls, & some other dishes that were super tasty & fresh. Every single dish had us saying "Wow" out loud. Come see for yourself, you won't be disappointed. From the gorgeous beach views to the unparalled service & delicious food, we'll be returning for sure!

Yelp
I had such a wonderful experience at Nobu Coronado with our wonderful waiter Miguel! Our service was immaculate from start to finish. The sweet young hostess assured us we would be seated in a great location and she made it happen. Miguel was so attentive and kind. He treated us like family and made us feel more than welcome. Every dish ordered was absolutely delicious and up to par with Nobu standards. We even had a quick chat with management while we were dining and had a great conversation. Will definitely come back and specifically ask for Miguel!

Yelp
For the prices and portions of sushi that you get, it was not a great experience at all. I dined here two weeks ago, and the menu was poorly explained by Genevieve on what portions you get, and what was brought out, plus got double charged for our meal. The ambience was beautiful but it wasn't because of this dining experience. Subpar to be nice

Yelp
Julio Gonzales was so accommodating and friendly and made us feel so welcomed... so fun watching him prepare all the cocktails and take care of us at the same time! Bravo !

Yelp
Super disappointed in the hidden pricing here. We have been to multiple other Nobu locations. Ordered a "well" extra dirty martini and they charged $45 for one!

Yelp
Been a regular attendee of Nobu for a long time now. I must admit, What sets this place apart is the historical setting and sunsets but more importantly the service. Julio at the bar is what makes People get out of their comfortable couch for. The scallops recommendation was 10/10. Will return.

Yelp
It's a nice location. Right on the beach. But I was shocked at the prices! Over double what you would expect at a good sushi bar in San Diego. $18 for one piece of nigiri tuna sushi! The service was adequate, but our server seemed like she belongs at Chilli's, trying to upsell us on drinks and specials. I understand she is just doing her job, but the way she was doing it kind of cheapened the experience. We were running late for our reservation so we self parked in the garage to avoid paying for valet. It was $56.00!!! Will not be returning.

Yelp
In order to recommend you this place I have to write a review for you, and here is my experience... AMAZING ! Food check all the goods, fresh, quality, balance, deliciousness. I loved every single bite. About the cocktails .... Drums please... EXQUISITE! You know when you have a drink and taste so balanced, delicate and smooth without that unliked alcohol taste.. yeah that's right.. so good! But you know what wrapped all it for me to have this amazing experience it was the service involved in every single aspect of this like the Bartenders Diego and Julio whom honestly knew every single detail of the cocktails and plates, making my selection so easy. They're very professional and friendly making our drinks so beautifully perfect and delicious while enjoying the sunset. . In few words... just go to Nobu del Coronado, go straight to the bar and enjoy the sunset! Thanks for reading, love for all.

Yelp
Giovanni! The best service ever, he took great care of us. You can never go wrong with the menu so we let him curate or dinner, all dishes were amazing.

Yelp
We frequent high end restaurants often, but this visit was particularly disappointing. Let's get something straight : Nobu is expensive, very expensive and we knew it going in for a late afternoon snack/lunch. Service was deplorable. We were left alone for quite some time. We almost walked out. Then multiple people serviced our table and it became very confusing and they kept apologizing. Then the food came: It was almost comical as the portion sizes are extremely small. I don't recall them being that small at other Nobu locations. Food tasted good but its basically $15 for a small bite of anything. After $150, we finished...still hungry. Never again.

Yelp
Crispy rice spicy tuna and scallop roll were amazing. Chicken teriyaki very good smoke flavor. . Small portions but delicious!

Yelp
Despite being insanely busy,, Julio, Daniel, and the team at the bar provided great and fun service. And of course the sushi was delicious too!

Yelp
Food, service and atmosphere was fantastic. I would recommend sitting outside to enjoy the view and great weather.

Yelp
This is actually a review for two visits. The first visit would have received 4 stars--the food was excellent, the service attentive, the setting beautiful. And it should have been when a dinner for 4 ran over $700, but we chalked that up to the mark up because of the hotel Del location and we don't do that everyday, but also not that rarely if the experience is a good one.. But today, when we called ahead, let them know we just wanted to take out a simple order for our daughter who was not feeling well and that we live at the Shores (their neighbors), we were told to try to come to the bar and order and then take it home. When my son in law got there, it was an hour and half wait and no willingness to be flexible, even when the manager was asked directly. I'm glad they are so busy now, because when the next pandemic or slow season comes, locals like us will still be here and we will certainly remember how we were treated. If I could that would garner 0 stars, thus the 2 star review.

Yelp
Been to Nobu in Malibu and LA, tried it at the Del and gotta say DONT!!! Forget that the prices are overinflated but the service and the kitchen can't get their acts together. Made a reservation for 2:30 thinking it wouldn't be that full and I was right it wasn't. Maybe a quarter of the tables outside and inside were filled. Explained that two of us (party of four) have massages at 4:00 and could we get our food before then, and were assured yes....NOPE, not going to happen. At 2:45 someone poured us water and then things started going south. My soup and eggplant came up immediately as well as the jalapeño yellowtail. And then we waited, and waited, and waited. I left at 3:50 and complained to the two hostesses who said we tell people 2 hours for a meal, but i told them, we informed the waiter two of us had massages at 4:00, so that wont fly. Found out that after i left the Miso cod came out, ten minutes later, the rock shrimp came out and five minutes after that, some of the sushi order came out. My husband left at 4:10 and before that when the bill came, looked at it, and told the waiter, they still hadn't brought all the sushi out! The waiter looked at his orders and had no idea why the sushi didnt come out and offered to do it then, but my husband was already late for his massage and declined. He was offered a dessert and said no. Bill was over $400 with out tip! We left a nice tip anyway, but i cannot be more emphatic in telling you not to go. They are overpriced, overwhelmed, service was eh, and you can go across from the hotel and not have to pay the costs of revenue sharing with the hotel if you eat in the hotel.

Yelp
This restaurant is one of a kind. Julio is such an amazing bar tender and I would come back just to have his great service. Over all 10/10

Yelp
Best restaurant on the island all thanks to Julio with the outstanding service. With his easy going personality and remarkable attitude. Thank you Julio!

Yelp
They suggest things and DO not tell you they are suggesting the premium items. Two things they suggested were 110 dollars each They are pushy. We have been to all the other locations and this one is especially deceptive. Disappointing
