"There are plenty of good dim sum options in the area, but Nom Wah is especially useful if you want something quick, casual, or solo. We like their soup dumplings, crispy scallion pancakes, and chewy shrimp rice rolls. You order by checking off boxes on a little sheet of paper, and everything in the dim sum section costs around $5." - candis mclean, alison kessler
"Nom Wah in Center City works well for quick, casual dim sum. It’s a small space, but there’s a decent variety of soup dumplings, buns, and rice rolls. You order everything by checking off boxes on a sheet of paper, and most dishes cost less than $5. Come to this BYO with friends, circle the entire top half of the menu, and you'll have some cash left over for someone to sprint over to Fine Wine & Good Spirits nearby." - candis mclean, alison kessler
"You know how BMW has seven series of the same car? The higher the number, the bigger it is and the more features it has. Well, the golf-ball-sized vegetarian siu mai at Chinatown’s Nom Wah is the 7 Series of dumplings. They’re a little bigger than most standard siu mai and have a filling that gets an earthy flavor from the shitake mushrooms and a nice kick from the ginger and scallions. They almost look like flowers, and they have a great color from the yellow lining and mix of vegetables." - candis mclean
"There are plenty of dim sum options in Philly, but if you only have time for one, it should be Nom Wah. Head to this Chinatown spot for shrimp dumplings, roast pork buns, and spicy beef wontons. They also have a lengthy tea menu, with nine blends like chrysanthemum, oolong, shou mei, and jasmine. But if you’re in the mood to pair your pan-fried chicken and cabbage dumplings with a breakfast beer, there's always Tsingtao." - candis mclean, alison kessler
