San Diego Restaurant Openings You May Have Missed, March 2025 | Eater San Diego

"A North Park spot where tapas pair with vinyl records and the operation runs all day (with service until 1 a.m. on weekends). Mornings offer brunch bites and coffee—try the quiche or tortilla Española—then the menu flips to dinner and cocktails; suggested dinner orders include steak frites, some olives, and a cocktail to make a night of it." - Rebecca Roland

Where to start… You step inside and are instantly immersed in a vibrant, effortlessly cool atmosphere. The space feels welcoming, whether you’re dropping in for a coffee and breakfast burrito or slipping in for a midweek date night. Either way, you can always count on exceptional service, great drinks, and unbeatable vibes. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but I urge everyone to try the coffee from Solana Coffee Company—it’s simply unmatched. And if you’re in the mood for an evening drink, the Pink Matter is an absolute must. What I truly love is that whether you’re with friends or stopping in solo, the staff are always ready with a friendly smile, good conversation, and plenty of laughs. Enjoy!!

I personally found the food and service to be awesome. Give em grace, it’s a new spot people! Everything we ordered was delicious, packed with flavor and thoughtfully styled. The vibe is superb, great music and clean mid century modern aesthetic. Perfect for a date night! Our server Christian was an absolute gem! I can’t wait to go back, bring some more friends, a few vinyls to play and try out some of their cocktails. 10/10 recommend

Had brunch here with two friends and we all found it delicious and a cool new spot. Hip, trendy interior with good staff too. Parking can be a bit of a hassle to find but kind of expected in San Diego. Worth checking out! I devoured their breakfast sandwich.

Such a great time. Wonderful assortment of different tapas and beautiful artisan dishes. An amazing selection of old world and New World Wines. We will be back.

Google
Summary: food is very good (but not a value); service needs to improve or I won’t return or recommend; atmosphere is warm and mid-century vibey Highlights: strong selection of amari / aperitivi , a handful of excellent wines, tasty tapas (croquetas de chorizo are craveable) Okay: Wine selection has…just enough by the glass. No happy hour, and all glasses priced at $14 and up, though. Might have stayed longer if they kept something a little lower-range on the list. Lowlights: for a Tuesday afternoon with only a few parties, three bartenders felt overstaffed, and service was still inexplicably slow… they were on their phones, two left to go to the liquor store (why? And why disclose that to customers?), one mostly ignored us while oversharing with a 4-top that forced us to move our seats, one poured himself a Gatorade and had it uncovered on the back bar, another made himself an iced latte and had it on the back bar… and yet, they barely attended to the music. I sound fussy right now because this is supposed to be a listening bar, and nobody was actively, consistently selecting and cueing music. That’s why I bothered going there in the first place. I can select my own nice bottle or Albariño and keep the vinyl going for far less than the $95 two of us paid for 2 glasses each and just 3 tapas.

Google
New and trendy tapas place located in University Heights. I’d say give them some grace with service as they’re probably still trying to work out some kinks. Parking: Street parking only. Got lucky with a spot right across the street at 6pm but be prepared to give some time to look for a spot. Environment/Service: -Bar seating available, 2 high tables that can seat 4 people, and many low 2-person tables that can be pushed together for a larger party. We saw a party of about 8 there. Loooved the vibe and the music they were playing inside. -Our party of 4 came with no reservation at 6pm and thankfully, we got seated right away. However, after us, there was a little bit of a wait outside the door so plan accordingly. -It seemed that there were only 2 servers working. It took a little bit to get our orders in and took longer to flag someone down to pay at the end. Drinks: -Their drink menu consists of wine and wine cocktails. You can also purchase a full bottle (all displayed towards the back of the restaurant kind of like at a liquor store) and they don’t charge a corkage fee if you choose to open inside. PINK MATTER ($14): I asked our server Mark what cocktail would be on the sweeter side and this drink did not disappoint! Food: Our table ordered family style and it was the best way to try everything out. CRUDO (market price): catch of the day. It was Habachi style; served in a mango “soup” and topped with cilantro, jalapeños, and onions. This was very delicious. KATSU SANDO ($22): 4 little sandwiches of fried chicken and bread, served with katsu sauce. I liked the crunch of the chicken and the coleslaw together. I would say that the flavors are best when dipped in the katsu sauce. STEAK FRITES. ($32): ordered medium, served with chimichurri and a side of fries— super crispy. The steak was good but not mind blowing. PATATAS BRAVAS ($9): this was our group’s favorite item on the menu that we ordered for a second time. Served in 3 square pieces of layered potatoes. SHRIMP SKEWER ($14): 3 pieces of fried shrimp with the heads detached. This was very good. Overall: Cool new tapas place that I would come back to again! Would love to try the Clam Broth that I saw a lot on the reviews.

Google
Great vibe here! Great decoration and friendly staff. We walked in and were able to be seated without a reservation which was great as people kept coming in - a busy place. The croquetas were fantastic! As was the katsu sando. The bravas, although nice, were not bravas and had very little sauce. The pan tumaca was a little soggy which was a shame as the taste of the tomatoes was good - the heirloom carpaccio looked delicious, I’ll be back to try that. The nonalcoholic drinks were also really tasty and refreshing.

Google
Dined here over the weekend and interior design and drinks is a vibe here. I don’t think they have their liquor license yet as they’re pretty new so all drinks on menu right now are wine based. Food was a dissapointment since my friend and i were told that it was amazing…maybe it was what we ordered? Everything we ordered was okay and nothing wow. This review is a call out on steak frites. Added pics for proof of the well done? burnt? fried? rubber? steak… idk what it was but it was not medium like we requested. Service was very nice about it and had it redone but the new plate was still not medium…lol. dissapointing because we were super excited to eat here

Yelp
music ALWAYS fire. love their drinks- coffee, wine, and cocktails. service is attentive and welcoming. I can't speak too much about their food since I've only tried their camembert- which I enjoyed! It's my favorite bar/cafe in san diego at the moment, by a long shot :) *parking is limited, if you're lucky you can snag a free street parking spot but if not there's a couple of paid parking lots close by. *If coming on a weekend night I'd recommend making a reservation first!

Yelp
Nomade has been flying under the radar for a while but don't expect it to stay that way for too long. They offer a small selection of drinks and bites where the focus is definitely on the quality than the quantity. Their lunch portions are big enough to share with two people, if you're looking for a light brunch/lunch. Their dinner menu is more tapas style but there are larger portions for those looking for a sizable meal. While I usually leave my review with recommendations, I thoroughly enjoyed all the items on the menu. The only exception was the Katsu Sando since we skipped on ordering that one. For lunch, I'd say the matcha was decent but I like to have mine taste earthier. Their cocktails do not miss. I did wish their espresso cocktail was a bit creamier but we enjoyed it regardless. Sad to see it get busy but happy to see it thrive. For anyone not familiar with North Park, there's no parking.

Yelp
Went here on a Sunday afternoon and loved the overall vibe--great music, stylish aesthetic, and a relaxed atmosphere. The cocktails (note: they're wine-based) and wine were both solid. From the tapas we tried, my favorites were the patatas bravas, croquetas, and the katsu sando. The shrimp skewers and al pastor dish (which I don't see on the current menu) were a bit dry, so I'd probably skip those next time. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu. Also, their website is super well-designed--they clearly know how to curate a great aesthetic, both in-person and online.

Yelp
I love it here! I love it here! I love it here! Super delicious cocktails, lovely ambiance, and really fabulous appetizers! The spicy tuna rice was incredible (as expected) and the chorizo coquettas were soooo good. Excited to return here soon.

Yelp
I came here with my guy as we live only a block away and have been eagerly waiting to see what would take over this spot. Nomade is a cute tapas and records bar but they don't have a full liquor license and their cocktails are wine based. This didn't bother us since we are both dry at the moment. We walked in on a Sunday around 5:30PM, were able to pick our own seats and both the bar and tables were open. 4/5 Grey fox: Earl grey mocktail - very bright and sour, not much earl grey taste but I did enjoy this. Minus points for the presentation - the bitters were literally dripping off of the glass, we were both surprised the bartender didn't wipe this down before serving to us. 3/5 Matrimonio: I love anchovies. This one felt unbalanced? The bread in particular was dry and stale, and the tomato not being cut down further meant you get one bite with tomato and the other 1 or 2 bites with no tomato. 2/5 Shrimp skewer: the shrimp body was very overcooked (stuck to the skewer and dry) and the shrimp head was undercooked (still too soft). I'm used to shrimp heads at omakase restaurants being fried to a crisp perfection. 3/5 steak frites: the cut of the steak was low quality - after I put a piece in my mouth a server came over and gave us steak knives. Bad timing because I actually literally almost choked - I took a bite before the steak knives thinking I'd be able to chew it through, but because the meat was so sinewy I couldn't and proceeded to near choke! I ended up pulling the entire piece out of my throat it was an interesting experience to be sure. My guy who likes a fatty/gristly steak said the ends were too gristly even for him and he couldn't chew through some pieces either. The tallow fries are great but needed more salt. This has a higher rating than the shrimp because the flavor of the crust was good and so was the chimichurri that was served with the steak, as well as the fries. Service was good and very friendly/attentive. The vibes are great. All in all, if you're here for drinks and vibes I think you'll have a great time. If you're looking to spend money on food I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and decor. This place has a lot of potential. The food was not good though. We tried a lot of things on their menu and most unfortunately missed the mark: burnt bread, tasteless meatballs, chewy shrimp, overly spicy sauces... simply not a place I can recommend for tapas. Service was ok but, their servers need to know when to return burnt bread to the kitchen and not put it on the table. If they are going for a wine place, they need to tell you they have more wines than their limited wine by the glass menu right away. Our server didn't explain anything until we pressed and questioned. Great place with a lot of potential but, they have a lot of work to do.

Yelp
Nomade is a cute new tapas+records bar in San Diego that serves breakfast as well! I just got the almond milk matcha latte, unsweetened. The service was excellent and drinks came out pretty quickly. This small restaurant plays great music and have a really nice interior. The matcha was good and the price was very fair.

Yelp
I wanted to go to the back and scream at the chef this crudo was so go00oOod. Sweet and savory, bright, all the good words ok. That is what you absolutely must order. We also had the katsu sando and the Camembert which was good. But that crudo, increíble. Also got a Hugo spritz and that was yummy. Service and music nice too, I liked that I could have a conversation without it being too loud

Yelp
Nomade is a cute new tapas spot on Adams ave that is also a listening bar. Records line the walls. We tried a variety of tapas with mixed reaction: Patatas Bravas: ok, could use some salt/more sauce Cucumber salad: unfortunately very bland Croquettas: very good, would get again Shrimp skewers: good flavor, but something gritty about them Hamachi crudo: (crudo of the day: mp) tasty, I like the heat the jalapeños add Basque cheesecake: amazing, would get again. Drinks They don't have a full liquor license so the cocktails are amaro/wine based. They were tasty, though I think pricey. Service was attentive. Overall, I'd come back for maybe a drink or a certain item but I probably wouldn't make it a full meal.

Yelp
Parking can be tough on the weekends due to the location. It was pretty busy on a Saturday night. The inside is dimly lit as most bars are, but one thing I will note is that it's suuuper loud inside- I was basically yelling across the table talking to my friend. I ordered the Travieso cocktail which was on the sweeter side and was not strong at all. I could barely taste the alcohol, so I'm not sure if it was really worth ordering. We also got the basque cheesecake which was worth a try... just not as burnt as a basque cheesecake is supposed to be. This spot has been on my list for awhile. I don't think I would come back at night but I would definitely give it another shot during the day when it's less busy and more of a cafe vibe.

Yelp
This has barely touched University Heights and already the place was abuzz with patrons around 630pm. Definitely like the chill vibes and variety of records displayed. The waiter was friendly and kept me company while my friend was looking for parking (super challenging in this area). The cocktail menu has wine incorporated in its mixes. However, I settled on a cab, which was delightfully full bodied and smooth. Food - Crudo - Today it was Seabass and it came with side of sourdough toast. Not sure about the bread and fresh seafood pairing. Usually a thin crusty bread, chips, or crackers would've been better. The sauce was tart but fresh. There wasn't too much Seabass in this dish. Chile Poblano Soup - This was nice and creamy. Now this would be good with a side a chips as well, something to dip the soup in. I also ordered the Matrimonio and asked about the item several times but it was never brought out :(. Thankfully we weren't super hungry and it didn't appear on our bill when we checked out. Food wasn't outstanding for me. It's a nice place to hang out and have some wine and snacks.

Yelp
Quaint new tapas bar that has live vinyls playing and an intimate ambiance. Would definitely recommend coming early during meal hours as the space isn't that large! - PARKING - Pretty scarce, there are a few street spots but you'll have to hope you get lucky! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - There are bar seats, some sofa chairs, and a few high tops. Overall it's not a place for large parties, unless you can get a reservation! Service is slightly slow, although it must be due to their recent opening and still working out the kinks. We did wait a bit to put in our initial order but they did come by every now and again to check in on us afterwards. - FOOD - Nice selection of tapas, everything was easily sharable! They also have a good list of wines, as well as a shelf filled with bottles you can pick from. We got the following items - Crudo (MP): Super fresh, bright flavors with the mango. - Patatas Bravas ($9): Stacked layered potato slices, we ended up getting another order! - Shrimp Skewers ($14): Fried well, you could even eat the head! - Katsu Sando ($22): Pretty yummy! I liked the sauce they served it with as well. - Steak Frites ($32): Both the meat and fries were underwhelming to me, but the chimichurri was nice. - OVERALL - It was cool to see a new spot open up and I do like tapas restaurants, but I don't know if there was much more on the menu I'd be interested in trying.

Yelp
I have been here quite a few times. I really love sitting at the bar. It's great for an intimate conversation and there is a good wine selection plus awesome tapas.

Yelp
The food here was darn good! I highly recommend getting the yellowtail crudo with passion fruit sauce!!! It was a bit spicy but I kept coming back for more! The service was attentive and the place was so cute! I can't wait to come back to try some other options. I like that this place keeps their menu and drinks short and simple so they really focus on the flavors!

Yelp
Nomade self describes as: 'Nómade - A unique tapas and records experience in San Diego. Enjoy Spanish cuisine and great music in a relaxed atmosphere.' Tapas and Records aka small plates of food and a collection of vintage vinyls spinning creates for a casual cool café restaurant on Adams Bl in a fast developing University Heights area of San Diego. Parking is a major challenge, I had to circle the block a few times, then as luck would have it, got a space across the street. Currently, only indoor seating, no outdoor seating. This restaurant opened over a month ago and after seeing some pics posted, it looked dark, low hanging ceiling and claustrophobic...perhaps that's what it looked like at night. When I stepped inside during late morning, the light from outside filtered inside gave it a better more spacious effect. There wasn't a host at entry. The staffer who noticed me, also seated me ended up being my waiter as well...a nice French guy name Anatol, who was attentive and helpful. I had previewed the menu online and was interested in a few items, however, was disappointed to learn my options were limited to ordering from only one menu from 10a-2pm. The other menu is available to order from 2pm-close, which had more interesting options than the other menu. I've traveled throughout Spain and one of the food obsessions revolves around Iberian ham, which was offered in the menu but NOT in my dietary preferences, therefore further limiting my choices. The avocado toast and an iced matcha didn't seem very Spanish but that's what I ordered. Iced Oatmilk Matcha was good, looked vibrant green. Avocado toast looked appealing, served topped with a poached egg semi firm as I requested because I can't stand runny yolk eggs. The bread proved to be a little tough, requiring a sharper knife. Not much avocado, mostly arugula and the shredded cheese had minimal flavor :( Some seasoning was lacking. From the other menu, a toast called 'matrimonio' is Spanish for matrimony includes ingredients: cream cheese and Spanish anchovies was more appealing but this was not available before 2pm is simply a major faux pas. A correctional edit to the menus seems necessary, as many diners I spoke to and myself included were less impressed with the menu options than the chill vibe of the space. Even though I haven't tried anything from the menu offered after 2pm, perhaps those options are tastier. Nomade is still a welcomed addition to this developing neighborhood.

Yelp
North Park has a new listening bar in Nomade which replaced a former sushi restaurant on Adams Ave. The owners also operate El Agave Tequileria in Old Town. Parking is difficult on this block because of an uber-popular gelato shop just a few doors over. The inside had a chill ambiance with sofas, small tables, and high tops for seating in addition to spots at the bar. A turntable setup to spin vinyl records was to the left of the bar. During my visit, pre-recorded music was being played from the speakers. Half of the evening food menu featured tapas with over a dozen offerings. Six main dishes and two desserts rounded out the other categories. Draft and bottled beers, cocktails, and mocktails made up the drink selections. After consulting with one of the bartenders, I picked the Steak Frites and a Na Collins for my meal. The latter was a mocktail consisting of lemon, orange blossom, and soda. My order was placed shortly before the kitchen was about to close for the night. The steak was a coulotte (top sirloin cap) that was sliced into several pieces and served with chimichurri and a side of tallow fries. The cuts of meat were chewier than expected because the doneness was closer to medium than medium rare. The fries were decent, but they could have been crispier. I wonder if the cooks were trying to process multiple items in a last minute rush. I deducted a bit from my rating of Nomade but still rounded to a four star level.

Yelp
Food/Coffee: 4.7/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 I only had drinks here but they were really good. Tried their mocktail and freddo capuccino and both were really good. I'd come back for sure. Ambiance was BEAUTIFUL and service was really good. Parking wasn't too bad either.

Yelp
I love the vibe here. The decor is so good and clearly something they put a lot of thought into. Perfectly moody and chill at the same time. They're dog friendly too (indoors too!) which is a huge plus for me always because my golden goes everywhere with me. Came here without a reservation and was seated quickly. Food & drinks are great too.

Yelp
Dropped by for dinner service with my husband and loved the experience. When we arrived around 6pm it was pretty full but there was room for us to choose between seats at a table or bar. We started with glasses of wine - vino verde - and a delicious bread with tomatoes and jamon. The menu is tapas style with a Spanish and Portuguese flair. We then enjoyed mains of a burger and steak frites -- both great options. The steak was over cooked but thankfully our server gave us a heads up before ordering to try and mitigate it. Burger was well cooked. The vibes were awesome - it's a record bar so we saw the servers changing records throughout our meal. Such a gem within university heights!

Yelp
Nómade is just getting underway in Normal Heights offering Spanish tapas, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The European-style wine bars opens at 10 am daily and closes at 10 pm, except Fridays and Saturdays when the bar closes at 1 am. I stopped in for a light breakfast and had the ricotta pistcachio toast and cortado. The toast came on a thick artisan sourdough toast with creamy ricotta cheese, zesty lemon, delicious honey, and garnished with a host of crushed pistachios. The toast was $14. I enjoyed the toast very much. All the ingredients had very good flavors. I really liked the honey and the pistachios. I do recommend they put a better toast on the bread. One side was well toasted and the other was just touched by a little heat. At any rate, it was a great toast. Manuela, one of the bar keeps, made a terrific cortado. It was smooth and rich in coffee flavors and had a good robust finish. I just which that they would follow tradition and serve the cortado with a small side of carbonated water. The service was super friendly. My server, a young gent, had a good sense of humor and manners. I look forward to returning to try more taps and bites.

Yelp
My new fave spot in North Park!!! Vibes, vinyls, coffee, & good food. A very aesthetically pleasing space & perfect if you're looking for a chill spot with good music. We went for brunch and ordered the Freddo espresso, focaccia, & French toast. Everything was delicious and plated beautifully. I have no complaints. Def will be back for dinner :))), 10's all around !

Yelp
I feel this place is the epitome of a quintessential neighborhood spot... I just wish it were in my neighborhood. Buzzy and bright and welcoming. The space is beautiful with friendly service, records spinning (I feel like they chose to play Brandy followed by Ashanti for me and my fellow elder millennial friend), and delicious wine and tapas. Everything just feels comfortable, like I could pop in solo for a coffee at the counter or a spontaneous glass of wine and snack, and be on my way, and still have the best time because of the ambiance. It's also a few stops down from An's, so post- or pre-gelato makes the location even better. It can be tricky to find parking along this stretch, but being here at 4 PM on a weekday made it easy to find a space out front where only one sidewalk table witnessed me trying to (successfully, on the first try!) parallel park.

Yelp
Cute new place on Adams ave! Honestly the interior was not as special as I thought it would be, and inside was way smaller/less seating than expected. Very dim inside as well, I sat at one of the high tops toward the back of the restaurant. The bar was gorgeous and they played good music! Drinks were alright, tried 3 tapas and the Katsu sandwich! All was delicious- I will say kinda pricy overall.

Yelp
This place was great. When I got there, I was quickly seated. The bar was small but clean and also with nice interior design. I ordered their breakfast burrito and it was yummy. The price was good for the size of the burrito. My friend ordered the ricotta toast and liked it. The waiter and other workers were friendly. I would come back and recommend this place to others.

Yelp
Such a cute new gem on Adams Ave! The vibe is cozy and stylish with vinyl spinning in the background--perfect for a chill night out. We came for the tapas and stayed for the drinks and atmosphere. The croquettes were delicious--crispy on the outside, creamy and flavorful inside. Great spot for sharing plates, sipping something fun, and catching up with friends. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
what we ordered | smash burger | steak + frites | croquetas | shishito peppers | katsu sando | pink matter | golden orchard taste | favorites were the croquetas, burger, and katsu sando. in terms of drinks pink matter was solid and a good choice if you prefer something sweet. golden orchard is also sweet as well. the steak was alright and the fries were a bit soggy. service | servers were great! parking | street notes | if you're in the area around adams ave. definitely check them out. its a listening vinyl record spot but its nice how they are open throughout the morning into the night so they also have coffee options!

Yelp
We came here for lunch and their menu had solid brunch food, though nothing stood out. I shared a breakfast burrito with my friend and it did hit the spot. Their coffee is also quite good. The ambiance inside is very cute and perfect for a date spot. Service was also excellent.

Yelp
Nomade is a stylish tapas spot with a vibe that's reminiscent of a Japanese listening bar. We were seated immediately upon arrival, which was great, especially since parking in the neighborhood can be a bit tricky. The interior was warm and thoughtfully designed--dim lighting, wooden furniture, and curated music created a cozy, laid-back atmosphere perfect for casual dining and conversation. The staff were friendly and attentive, checking in often and offering helpful recommendations. We tried the clam broth, which was unfortunately a bit bland, but the katsu sando was tasty, with the dipping sauce really tying it together. Drinks are wine-based--light, refreshing, and paired well with the food.

Yelp

Yelp
We walked in at 5ish and were luckily seated instantly with the last table! The vibes were amazing here, they had records playing and was filled with a cool, younger crowd. I had our girls night planned for this place since I've wanted to try it for a while. The clam pasta was so delicious, had a bit of a spice kick to it but not super spicy at all. The steak frites were great, the fries were delicious but I will say the steak was a little overcooked and chewy for me but non-the-less still very delicious. The bartender curated the perfect drink for my friend and all the drinks were so incredibly good, I might say one of the best drink menus I've ever experienced at a restaurant! They were not too sweet and actually refreshing - mind you, I do not like the taste of alcohol very much but I can appreciate it a little bit when done well. Would definitely recommend this place for the girlies or for date nights!

Yelp
Brand new spot opened up in our neighborhood. It's giving exactly what this area was missing. A beautiful location that sets the vibe perfectly to get dressed up, eat and drink good, and chat. I've been here a few times since they opened as a "last drink of the night" spot. The lighting is spectacular and gives a sexy ambiance to any night. It's a tapas spot so you gotta get a few things to try and taste. So far the shrimp, chicken sandwich, and the cheesecake is a must no matter what. Staff is cool and always in a great mood. Music sets the vibe perfectly. Can't wait to bring my out of town friends when they visit.

Yelp
The fish of the day was delicious and the cocktails were just as good. Nice ambiance, the server however kept checking up on us too frequently to the point it was just annoying. I am here to relax and enjoy my drinks and meal peacefully.

Yelp
Very nice ambiance, slow service- food comes out in no particular order. Everything tastes like it needs more salt. Honestly most things tasted like nothing. Croquetas taste like the meat was cooked with low sodium taco seasoning packet and then deep fried. Sad to say these were probably the worst croquetas I have ever eaten. All cocktails are wine based. I probably wouldn't come back again and if I did I would definitely skip on the food.

Yelp
First time trying Nomade! It's definitely a cute spot located walking distance away from An's Dry Cleaning. We got there around 6pm with a party of 3 and got seated immediately. We ordered the Shrimp Skewers, Crudo (Hamachi - Yellowtail), Camembert Cheese, and Portobello. Crowd favorites were the Shrimp Skewers and the Crudo, both very flavorful and delicious! The shrimp comes with 3 skewers and also the fried head. I liked the skewer alone since it's pretty seasoned but it comes ontop of a spicy mayo. The Crudo was so good! It was Hamachi (Yellowtail) and it came with sliced avocado, pickled onions, thin ginger slices, mango puree, and either sliced jalapeno or serrano peppers. The peppers packed a punch, they were definitely spicy. The service was top notch! I think 3 different people came to check up on us. Kudo points for playing MF Doom as well for the hip hop heads. Total came out to be a little over $100, definitely a cute spot to check out!

Yelp
Very cool spot -- dog-friendly indoors too, which instantly makes it more relaxed and welcoming. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between upscale and laid-back, with classy vibes throughout. Excellent food and a thoughtfully curated wine selection round it all out.

Yelp
FINALLYYYYYY a spot in san diego with good vibe, ambiance, but more importantly good food! I'm from LA and i love san diego w my whole heart but the food scene is lacking here but this spot really blew me away i loved the mexican asian fusion dishes and every bite was delicious! The Patata's brava's were so crispy and delicious with crunch layers. The katsu sando was bomb too! It gives me mexico city vibes and our server was the best! i'm already planning my next visit.

Yelp
I had a really lovely meal here. First off, the space is beautiful--warm wood tones, globe pendant lighting, and a modern, minimal vibe that still feels cozy. Great natural light too, perfect for a daytime bite. Service was smooth, and prices were reasonable for the quality and setting. Music was solid--added to the ambiance without overpowering conversation. Food-wise: * The crudo of the day (yellowtail) was the standout by far. Bright, clean, citrusy--just a perfect balance of flavor and texture. * The croquetas had a great crispy shell and creamy interior. Flavor was on point, but I could've used just a little more of that sauce to really tie it together. * The steak frites were a bit inconsistent--half the steak came out medium rare, the other half closer to medium well. Still tasty, but a little uneven. I'd come back for the crudo alone, but overall it's a great spot. If they tighten up a couple details, it's easily 5 stars. Definitely worth checking out if you're nearby.

Yelp
We were here for brunch, I'll definitely go back for dinner at some point. Tasty food and cocktails, and the service was very attentive and nice. It's true that the ambiance in this restaurant is cool and relaxing

Yelp
Came in with some friends on a Friday night, cool set up of the restaurant and listening bar. Tapas style, so we ordered a few dishes to share with the group. They ran out of the Patatas Bravas, but offered us the Croquetes. The cilantro serrano aioli was amaaazing. The esthetic and size of the restaurant was cute. Perfect date night spot, or small groups. One thing that irked us throughout the night was how LOUD the music was being played. It was so bad, the server had to yell a few times to communicate with us. Overheard another table discussing the same thing. Aside from the that, the selection of music being played was approriate and it set the tone for the restaurant. A little Notorious B.I.G is always a vibe.. Would consider coming back again for the food!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this spot since they opened and I'm so glad I did! I was honestly worried the ambiance would be out of balance with the food quality as is true for many new hip spots, but I was pleasantly surprised that the food was really good! So good that I forgot to take good quality photos so I'll have to go back and not inhale my food so fast. Ambiance: they did a great job on capturing the atmosphere of a Japanese listening bar. I've lived in Japan and gone to local listening bars there and I could stop rambling to my friend who was with me about how great of a vibe Nomade has. It's perfect for a date night, drinks with a friend, or a solo date. Food: Steak & frites: best dish! The steak was cooked to perfection and had a delicious chimichurri sauce on the side. The fries were SO good and I took some home to air fry the next day & they were still good! Fries fried in beef tallow can be hit or miss but these show off the beef tallow deliciousness and are crispy to perfection Croquetas: this is not your typical Cuban or Latin American croqueta. It had a rich flavor that was distinct but so good! My friend and I kept eyeballing the last one on the plate to decide who'd take it Shrimp skewers: BBQed to perfection. It was a small plate with only 3 or 4 on the plate, so not a lot of bang for your buck, but really tasty nonetheless Pan tumaca with ibérico ham: this was my least favorite. Still pretty tasty, but note that it's not pan con tomate from Spanish tapas which has cooked tomatoes. Instead, the crushed tomatoes on this are fresh, so it didn't fit my taste. However, the ham was good and the sourdough was delicious so I liked it overall. Service was great with 2 servers coming by to check on us often. The food came out quick and they gave us excellent recommendations while ordering. We also hung out after we finished eating and had already closed the bill and they kept refilling our water which was nice of them! I also drank a ginger lemon mocktail which was delicious but will come back to try their cocktails. Overall the vibe, the service, and the food were better than expected from the new addition to the Adams Ave scene.

Yelp
Sebastian, thank you for being our killer server! Came here on a whim since the wine bar we had our eye on was closed for the day. Will be a wine bar in our rotation from now on; the atmosphere of the Japanese x Spanish cuisine was top notch! Take a date or a few friends here & it will be a guaranteed hit!

Yelp
If you're looking for a place that nails vibes, wine, coffee, and food all at once, this is it. A proper listening bar spinning vinyl, serving up amazing tapas, and pouring the kind of wine that makes you want to stay all night. The coffee? Legit. The cortado was spot on, and that French toast? Unreal--easily a new favorite. Shoutout to Manuela, who was absolutely great, and Alejandro, who made sure everything was perfect. Service is dialed in, the atmosphere is effortlessly cool, and honestly, I might just move in. If you're into good taste in all its forms, get here ASAP.

Yelp
The GOOD, the BAD, and the UGLY .... The good: Very nice hyped-up place in Normal Heights. We waited about 30 minutes, not too bad, and sat at the end of the bar, with a nice view of the entire place. The decoration and ambience is modern yet cozy, and the food and drinks were really good. We had the Bocado Andaluz and the Pink Matter cocktails, and started off with the Olives, Croquetas, and Smash Burger... everything was delicious and on point! The bad: Unfortunately, we didn't eat much else because the bartender, who was standing right in front of us, really went all out of his way to ignore us. We literally had to hail him down to order our first drinks, then later food, in a pretty loud environment. Most of the time he stood with his side or back towards us. It was a little busy, but not really that busy, and as the evening turned into night and people started to leave we hung out talking. He never once asked how we were liking our drinks, whether we wanted another, how was the food, would we like anything else. Yes, I actually did want something else, I just ordered the apps. I thought maybe he was having an off day, since I've worked in hospitality and have owned restaurants, but then some ladies sat beside us on the bar and he starts chatting them up, and acting like a normal bartender would any other customer. I was having a good time with my friend, we sat there for a while, until most people had left actually. It felt incredibly rude that he was even cleaning dishes in front of us without so much as an acknowledgement. What's up with that? The ugly: I HATE giving out bad reviews. Whenever I have a suggestion or negative feedback, I rather go directly to management. But I didn't find anyone to talk to. So, here's his picture, I hope he understands that even if we speak Spanish, we know how to use Yelp.

Yelp
Amazing addition to University Heights. Cozy and relaxed vibes inside. The listening bar concept is alive here loved the music they played and it's loud enough to hear the music over the din of the crowd. Still able to hold a conversation though. Food is great. We had the Chile Poblano Soup, Katsu Sando and Croquetas which were all amazing. The chorizo in the croquetas were incredible. Make sure you dip your katsu sando it makes all the difference. Not too heavy but tons of flavor and filling for tapas. The only thing that didn't blow me away was the Pan Tumaca. It's was a little underwhelming compared to the other dishes, not bad just meh. Not a full bar, beer wine and liquor cocktails only. Nice wine list though. Excited to see they are open late Friday Saturday this will be a great place to grab a glass of wine and hang out if you're trying to escape the crazy of polite provision next door

Yelp
First off, I think Nomade is promisisng and has a great selection of wines and apps. However, we came during the heat wave and they have no AC. just tough when you're trying to enjoy your meal but you're dripping sweat! Aside from the lack of AC the tapas and wine we had were all good. We tried the heirloom tomatoes salad, shishito peppers, cream cheese toast, and the crudo-all of which were easily a 4/5. However, once we got to the mains that's where things took a turn. We tried the smashburger, chicken katsu sando, and steak frites. Not going to lie-the mains were bad. Especially the burger and steak. The meat was so tough and overdone. Even the fries were sorta cold. I was very unimpressed. The burger reminded me of McDonald's except worse. The steak tasted like tree bark. If I come back I'll skip the mains for sure. Wish we had just stuck to our tapas

Yelp
Spent breakfast here earlier this morning and I really liked the chill vibes and ambiance of the place. I'm really into vinyls, so this place has been on my list of places to try out. Ordered an iced matcha latte with oat milk without any honey or vanilla for sweetener as well as a breakfast BURRITO. However, I believe because the music was so loud, the server that was helping us out got my order wrong and I was brought the breakfast sandwich instead. I would have mentioned that my order was wrong, but it took awhile to get the attention of our server and I didn't want to make my boyfriend wait as we had other plans for the day so I ended up just eating the wrong order. I would rate the breakfast sandwich as a 7/10 and matcha latte 6/10. The pricing for the breakfast sandwich alone IMO was expensive, considering there were no other sides included. Also, the sandwich seemed a little basic - which included a sausage patty, sunny side up egg, arugula, and cheese with a side of spicy mayo sauce. Overall, I give this place a 6/10. I feel like the servers could have been a little more attentive and more welcoming? The vibes could be different during lunch or night time but it was cool to check it out finally, just didn't have a great first experience.

Yelp
WOW, simply WOW! Nomade is an ABSOLUTE FLIPPIN GEMSTONE on Adams Avenue -- from the moment you step in, the vibes are immaculate! The space is cozy, loungey, and just dripping with character (and how cool would it be if they actually sold the records too? Manifesting it!). The service? Bomb AF. We had three amazing servers -- Toto, Alejandro, and Fernando -- but shoutout to Toto who was our main guide through this delicious adventure. Pure magick! Toto is an adorable sweetheart with hilarious energy, epic hospitality, and the kind of vibe that just makes your soul smile. Seriously, he deserves a raise AND a parade! The bathrooms are super fun, the atmosphere is comfy yet alive, and I'm beyond stoked to come back and dive into their morning menu and coffee (especially loving the feminine power vibes behind the coffee offerings -- YASSSS!). Nomade -- you have my heart. Can't wait for round two! Highlights carpaccio, steak frites, and croquettes

Yelp
solid food, good drinks, and great curated music selection. it definitely gets pretty loud and busy, so beware of wait times to get in during the evening on weekends!
