A Running List of New Restaurants That Opened in New York City, August 2022 - Eater NY

"The New York Times reports that Rose Garden — set-up with faux-roses — is now blooming at the NoMo Soho hotel. The outdoor restaurant, that plans to stay open through winter as long as the weather allows, features a menu with dishes like duck wings with gochujang, octopus carpaccio, and lamb kofte, in a kitchen run by Evan Bergman, an alum of the Charlie Palmer Group." - Eater Staff

NoMo Soho Luxury Hotel

"Can you tell us a little about this place? Formerly the Mondrian, this east Soho/borderline Nolita hotel was re-launched in 2015 as the NOMO—a combination of the words “nostalgic” and “modern.” That aesthetic mix is best reflected in the common areas, beginning with the Crosby Street-side entrance, in which a covered walkway topped with greenery and fairy lights is framed by a romantic garden lounge on one side, and a graffiti-adorned brick wall on the other. Inside, the eclectic feel continues in spaces lined with both vintage and contemporary art, furnishings, and materials. What are the other guests like? Creative-industry business travelers mingle with foreign and domestic tourists who aren’t NYC newbies—and value a base in a lively location. How fluid was check in and check out? Check in and check out lines can be long at certain times, but the staff tries to keep things moving. Tell us all about the digs. Through the 26-floor hotel was renovated following the transition from Mondrian, one thing that couldn’t be changed was the size of the 263 rooms—so you’ll find options that range from tight entry-level layouts (with bathrooms so small, the sinks are out in the main sleeping area) to more spacious suites (many with balconies), and one of the most photogenic penthouses in the city, with nearly 360-degree vistas. In all categories, 10-foot-high ceilings and tall windows framing spectacular views in all directions help keep things bright and airy, while touches like HDTVs with Google Chromecast, Frette linen-topped beds, and showers stocked with Molton Brown products keep things comfortable. Wi-Fi is included. Were there in-room amenities or little touches that you'd rave about, or things you found bothersome? The mandatory $40 “amenity fee” for each room seems a bit nickel-and-dime-y, but does give guests access to the gym and things like Chromecast streaming, complimentary bottled water, and Wi-Fi. Give us the lowdown on the F&B. Under a greenhouse-style glass ceiling, with walls adorned with vibrant murals and colorful fabrics, the lobby-level NoMo Kitchen serves Mediterranean-influenced menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and a lively weekend brunch. The adjacent Library Bar offers morning coffee. In-room dining is also available. Any other services or features you'd especially like to shout out? Guests enjoy access to a 24-hour fitness center. Bottom line: Why is this place worth a stay? It's a great option (and often a great value) when you need a place to crash between Soho shopping and dining—and want endless views from every angle." - Sandra Ramani

16 Best Old Fashioned Cocktails to Drink in NYC | Eater

"Inside this Soho hotel is Nomo Kitchen and the Library Bar, both of which serve top-notch cocktails. The Nomo Kitchen is bright and airy with a peaked glass ceiling, while the Library Bar is a book-filled cozy hideaway. The cocktail menu is full of classics like a Manhattan and a bramble, and although an Old Fashioned isn’t on the official menu, you can definitely request one. We also like the New York Sour, made with Elijah Craig Small Batch bourbon, simple syrup, an egg white, and fresh lemon juice, topped with an Oberon merlot float." - Vox Creative

Had a great experience at the NOMO Kitchen in SoHo, went on a Wim and wasn't disappointed. Was able to make a reservation with ease same day, possibly due to most people being out of the city on the holiday weekend. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. The food was delicious, the stuffed Nutella French toast was fantastic, with an extra side of fresh fruit. The mimosas were decent, just preferred them chilled instead of having ice in them as it slightly watered down the drinks. Besides that, the atmosphere was nice, the outdoor seating was nice and comfortable. Would recommend coming here for anyone looking for a nice place to have brunch.

The hotel is located right in the heart of Soho, which is definitely its biggest advantage. We’ve stayed here multiple times, but unfortunately, with each visit it becomes more clear that returning guests are not treated with the level of respect and care one would expect. During our most recent stay, we were charged twice for the same booking without any warning or explanation. When we approached the front desk to inquire about it, the manager reacted in a very unprofessional way. His demeanor changed instantly, and he shifted the responsibility to the receptionist, claiming that everything would be fixed. However, there was no apology, no compensation, or even a small gesture to acknowledge their mistake. Worse still, the manager’s attitude was dismissive and disrespectful. When I returned later to follow up and he saw me again, he smirked — as if annoyed that I came back. That kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable, especially towards loyal guests who choose this hotel regularly. Now we’re forced to continue resolving this issue over the phone, which is frustrating and time-consuming. I truly hope the hotel’s management takes a closer look at the quality of service and how their staff treats guests. Respect and professionalism should be a basic standard in the hospitality industry.

The Nomo hotel is absolutely adorable. When I had a small issue with my room, the young lady at the front desk moved me immediately, which was very much appreciated and expeditious. The first night I arrived I was trying to catch last call for food in the restaurant. I approached the bar with my suitcase, And the bartender tried not to make eye contact with me and then eventually said to me, you can’t take up two seats of my bar with a suitcase. I informed him there have been no one at the door when I walked in, And in front of the entire bar, he said that I wasn’t welcome at the bar with my suitcase. The restaurant manager, Tony, and my server whose name I cannot remember, I think it started with a K or a P, were absolutely outstanding in rectifying the situation with the bartender. My server was the sweetest man to ever serve me. He even brought me samples of his favorite wine while I waited for my food. And Tony, the restaurant manager was so apologetic for the bartender’s inappropriate handling of me. As a former high-end bartender many years ago, I was sad by the way I was treated by this male bartender. His behavior doesn’t belong in a place such as this. But again, congratulations Nomo hotel, and kitchen for outstanding employees, Tony and my server for being able to turn my experience around 180°

Overpriced, dirty, and run by rude, unprofessional staff—avoid at all costs. I was charged $30 per day for breakfast via Booking.com, but the hotel refused to honor it, saying I didn’t book directly on their website. The manager was rude, and the staff unhelpful. The hotel was not clean, and despite paying over $2,000 for five nights and booking their most expensive room, I was given a cheaper one, likely assuming I wouldn’t notice because I was traveling from the UK. The whole experience felt overpriced and dishonest. The place is nowhere near a genuine 4-star standard; you’d be better off in a decent 3-star hotel than falling for their fake luxury.

When we lived in NYC ten years ago, we oftentimes recommended friends stay here (it was a different name then). We stayed here for a couple days in July and it was one of the worst hotel stays ever. A completely different experience than years prior. The front entry staff is friendly, and the vibe was as we remembered. However, upon check in, the front desk staff handed us our keys without any mention of amenities of the property (ok, fine- we have been there before). Our room had cigarette burns all over the couch which I noticed immediately and should have listened to my instincts and checked out then. We stayed and the next morning, my daughter who slept on the couch had bites all over her. They accommodated a room change, but that room sadly felt worse as it too had cigarette burns and the bathroom clearly wasn't cleaned as there was hair everywhere. We checked out 4 days early and moved to another hotel. They overcharged the room rate they quoted me and when I contacted several times for a refund, they stopped answering my emails and to date have not issued a refund. The location is great, and the bar is lovely, but the service and cleanliness of the hotel needs a make-over.

Google
Great Location and Rooms but good luck if you need any service beyond cleaning. I had a mailing mishap and an important package arrived a day later than planned. I explained to the front desk before checking out and left all my information asking for someone to please call me with directions on how to forward. I would pay for shipping. etc. They never called. I called multiple times a day, over five days, trying to get someone to mail it to me, including trying to send a call tag. I talked to multiple people, was put on hold, given wrong email addresses. No one took the time to help me resolve the issue. A week later. No package. I am disappointed because I loved the hotel, and have stayed there many times over the years. But I will never stay there again. Terrible service and attitude.

Google
Love the hotel - hate the fees $90 in "amenity fees" when this was booked prepaid with points... disappointing esp since they don't have amenities... More spacious than most nyc hotels. Very clean and great location if you like SOHO and shopping! Room was all white kind of an interesting design choice. Great view and pretty outdoor indoor restaurant.

Google
While the rooms (please avoid booking the lowest category) and the location are excellent, the service leaves much to be desired — with the exception of the lobby staff, luggage handling, and airport transfer, which were well-organized and professional. Unfortunately, the reception team was among the least responsive and customer-oriented I have experienced in many years of travel. In my case, I was simply requesting an updated invoice, yet it became an unnecessarily drawn-out process. To truly elevate the guest experience and position themselves as a genuinely good hotel, a change in front desk management and a stronger commitment to service excellence would be essential.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, amazing view, spotless room, 10/10 customer service. Cannot recommend a better hotel if you're visiting NYC!

Yelp
Convenient location located in SOHO. There are a lot of walkable restaurants, small convenient stores and shopping districts right near the hotel. Interiors of the hotels are very pretty. I stayed at the Classic King room and loved the blue hue theme. Only downside is the small bathroom where it is like an open spaced shower?? There is no door, so some water will be splashed outside. The ventilation of bathroom is weak, which makes the whole room smells like mildew. Also there is a daily amenity fees around 40$. But there isn't a lot of amenities provided. There is no fridge, microwave or kettle. Plus side is the the TV app streaming from your phone.

Yelp
We had an exceptional stay at this lovely boutique hotel. The room is quite large by New York standards with high ceilings. The café down in the lobby is terrific. We liked that the toilet and shower were in a separate room than the sink because that is more European and we prefer it that way. The staff was all nice. And we love the decor on the way in. Plus the location is really fantastic if you enjoy Soho and the lower side of Manhattan.

Yelp
The entrance to the hotel is beautiful. Hotel has a restaurant that's open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We got a city view room which had a beautiful view. The room itself was very small. Not much room to even put a suitcase without tripping over it. The shower was broken so water kept running so we had to play around with the level to find a sweet spot for it to stop. Overall room was clean and cleaned everyday.

Yelp
Located between Soho and Little Italy, I was recommended to visit this Hotel for their gorgeous aesthetic. Even before entering the hotel, you're being stopped in your tracks by this beautiful garden-tunnel that leads the way to the lobby. We were greeted by a lovely hostess and they informed us that the bar was self seating which was perfect as I was only stopping in for a nice drink. Their menu had a nice variety of specialty cocktails for a decent price considering the amount & quality of taste each drink has. My friend ordered the Nomo-politan which was a refreshing grapefruit drink, that almost resembled a whiskey sour. I ordered the Tiki Party which brought me back to a summer day at the beach enjoying a Piña Colada. Our bartender crafted the perfect drinks for us and truly made our time there a lovely experience!

Yelp
No umbrellas for guests. Most hotels in this price range provide umbrellas for unexpected weather. And who travels with an umbrella? Strange and inconvenient, running in pouring rain to the nearest drug store. And then throwing a perfectly good umbrella away because it doesn't fit in carry on luggage.

Yelp
Great location in SoHo. Perfect for exploring SoHo, Chinatown, Little Italy and Nolita. If the weather had been warmer, would have walked more, but with nightly dips down to single digits, so happy to hop on the Canal Street Subway 700 feet away to explore NYC and Brooklyn. The hotel itself has such a fun, artsy entry. Love the graffiti on the walls and the floral, lighted archway leading to the front door. The lobby has a small coffee bar and opens to a restaurant. The King Room was small with a king bed, small desk and chair and a small sink. Windows are floor to ceiling. No other furniture or amenities in the room. WiFi was slow despite being part of the $40 plus tax daily amenity fee. We did ask for a way to make hot tea and they brought up an electric tea kettle to boil water and cups, but no tea bags or way to make coffee in the room. Fortunately, I always travel with tea bags. One of the biggest issues was that the heater had challenges keeping up with the single digit weather outside. We called and were told that it is an older building and to crank up the heat which we did. From the 70s to the 80s to the 90s and above until the heat finally kicked in. We were able to drop it back down later, but it took a while to warm the room. We talked to a couple of ladies at checkout who never had heat in their room during their stay. They did provide extra blankets for them, though. The other surprise was that the front desk had such limited knowledge of public transit. When I called prior to arrival, we were told that the closest stop is at Prince Street. Actually, there are five Canal Street stops within a block or two. The Spring Street stop is just 3-4 blocks away. They were always willing to call a cab, though. (You can actually take the R line from Canal Street to the Q70 to get to LGA). Services provided by the daily $40 amenity fee were limited. Nice to get two bottles of spring water on arrival, but would have been nice to get two water bottles per day. WiFi was slow. Too cold to use the CitiBikes. Able to use the luggage service for a couple of hours.

Yelp
Stayed here for a weekend with my friends. There was about 15 of us total in multiple rooms. The flexibility of the reservations and cancellations were very easy to navigate. We stayed in a king sized bed room with a tub which was perfect for soaking feet after a long night of dancing. William at the front desk WAS amazing. He made sure our bride was well hydrated and so friendly throughout the rest of our trip. The luggage check in and car ordering process went well and allowed us to get to our final destinations without any issues, although none of us wanted to leave. The atmosphere was calming and you can't forget your photo outside. I cannot comment on the restaurant but it's pricey. We ordered food and sat in the lobby and took advantage of the complimentary water.

Yelp
One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Our entire floor could hear someone having sex in one of the rooms. There is zero privacy. Room doors have big gap under the door and rooms are extremely tiny. Smallest room I've ever stayed in. So noise travels across the entire floor. Everyone can hear private conversations you're having in your room, or you watching TV. Could hear people screaming in the hallway at 4am. Seems like almost no staff works here either. More like a hostel than a hotel.

Yelp
A beautiful soho hotel with remarkable views, a lovely ambience but with a few glitches. My room was spacious and spotless but lacking any glasses or cups. How does one brush their teeth or drink tap water to take a pill? Never seen a hotel room without them. Also my shears had snags and the edges of the wooden furniture had nicks. Comfy bed, and luxurious shower. But the hotel has no vending or ice machines, so that was inconvenient after hours.

Yelp
Great drinks and atmosphere! I did not eat but I would stare longingly at people's plates lol everything looked amazing! The place is also gorgeous!

Yelp
Omg! What happened to this hotel?!!! It deserves NO STARS! They should actually give ME a star for just walking in! I'm giving it one star only because it is technically a hotel (?) The magical, beautiful fantasy that was the lobby is now a 3rd rate cheap looking lobby with cheap furniture and an atm seems to be the highlight of the space. The rooms! Peeling paint, water leaks, torn up headboards...people even complain about getting flea bites!!!! I would be embarrassed if I recommended this hotel to anyone. I went to the opening when the new hotel was the Soho Mondrian. All the glam people of New York were there. Celebrities stayed there. There were really chic parties on the roof. Then the hotel changed hands and they've been destroying the vibe slowly ever since. No one stays there if they do 10 seconds of research. It's now basically a run down place in DESPERATE need of a good designer like Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz who designed the original Mondrian Hotel there.

Yelp
I booked this hotel using Hotel Tonight and was amazed at how it filled all of our requirements, and then some. From the onset, the gorgeous entry, filled with lights and covered with ivy is a sight to see. From there you walk into a comfy, warm entrance with a restaurant/bar to your left and the elevators to check-in right upstairs. Now I have stayed in many hotels in NYC but this one had to be the nicest in terms of room and size (for the price, of course). There was a decent size shower/toilet room, along with a cute, artsy sink adjacent to it. The kicker was the huge bed, and the amazing view from our room on the 8th floor. Now this doesn't even cover how tremendous the restaurant and bar was, the only downside to our entire weekend was a brunch order they messed up twice. The menu is eclectic, the bartenders very knowledable, and you would be silly not to check it out if you're staying here. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel if you want to stay in a chic, trendy, hip hotel in the middle of SOHO! Everything is walking distance and the staff will keep you coming back.

Yelp
The heater in the room it's not working , the room temperature now it's on 59 , nobody is giving me a solution on this matters , I can't sleep and I feel sick from the cold, dirty rooms and poor management . Got the most expensive room and that's what I got

Yelp
Wonderful stay at NOMO soho. Arrived earlier than planned but the front desk staff were very thoughtful and helpful. The location is very close to retail stores and many restaurants. Follow the arched way and you will see hotel. The first floor has a bar and restaurant.

Yelp
Very average. Not sure how it made it on the Platinum AmEx list but better options elsewhere unless you're on a tight tight budget

Wrongfully charged your customers. And when ppl reached out to get some clarification, you didnot give their answer until the media took the matter in hand

Yelp
Mixed feelings here about this hotel. Staff was nice while we were there. Love their early/late bag check in & check out offer. They seemed very accommodating when I was making reservations for my room... I ended up getting charged for all the "accommodations" they provided. Room had a super nice view on the top floor... but left a lot to be desired. The leather backboard on the bed was all worn out and destroyed... which is kinda gross. No real bathroom door so very little privacy there. The vibe of the rest of the hotel was very cool. The food at the restaurant wasn't bad. Pretty solid location too, close to Chinatown, little Italy, soho... All in all grateful for what we got out of the experience there, but it will cost you.

Yelp
DO NOT STAY!!! We checked in for a weekend stay and checked out no less than an hour later. Whenever I stay in a hotel, I double check the mattress and ensure there are no bedbugs (or remnants thereof). Especially important now given the Paris bedbug outbreak. The first mattress was disgusting and had the telltale bedbug marks (photo attached). They quickly moved our room and the mattress in this room was 10x worse than the first room (photo attached). While I did not find any bugs, there have definitely been bedbugs here at one point. Housekeeping said there were no encasements on the bed because they're "waiting for dry cleaning to send them back."......? The rooms are tired, old, and gross. This hotel is past its prime and charging PRIME prices. Would not recommend Nomo Soho to ANYONE.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel ! Has a really good extended stay here (12 nights ) ideal location, hotel is clean and rooms and decor is super modern and cute .

Yelp
I stayed here during a quick jaunt to NYC from Toronto. The Nomo is located on a quieter street on Soho and hard to miss when the heating lamps are on at the patio bar making it glow orange. The entrance to the hotel is really picturesque with a really high archway trellis complete with plants and twinkle lights and brick wall on one side with huge mural art. The inside has that Soho art vibe. A very modern lobby with eclectic art pieces. It was a mini gallery almost with all the different art displayed with accompanying plaque credits. So one odd thing was that check-in area is on the second floor. You have to take the elevator up one floor from ground level or walk up 2 sets up stairs. The bad thing about this is that it isn't great to lug your suitcases up the stairs and the elevators...they are very slow. Since we're on the topic of the elevators, I made about 4 back to back trips up and down when my key card decided to stop working on the last day I was there. I went down to reception where they reset my card but when I tried it upstairs, it still wasn't working. I went back down to relay the bad news and I was sent back upstairs to rendezvous with security who would help me out. Apparently the lock on the door had stopped working and they had to reset it essentially. On the topic of the room, it was tiny! Very NYC sized. The sink and vanity were located outside of the room where the shower and toilet were located. I'm kind of a stickler for cleanliness and I did notice that there were corners that still had some dust and even a longer hair that wasn't mine. It's also just a tiny bit older so it was a little rough around some edges. Other than that, the room was okay. The carpets were really plush and there weren't any sketchy stains on it. The bed was also adequately comfy. Pillows were super soft, not much support there but okay overall. Overall I enjoyed my stay. It's in a great location and the staff were pretty great addressing any of the concerns that I had.

Yelp
I used to love staying here but it's obviously gone downhill. My mom came to visit me and booked a stay here after I recommended it and it was close to my apartment. She initially paid more for an early check in as she was taking the red eye. Both my mom and I called on the morning she flew in and gave her name for the early check in, where they confirmed her reservation but couldn't confirm the early check in. No problem- she came and hung out at my apartment until we decided to go to the hotel around 3pm for regular check in time. When we got there, the desk person was very cold and said we had to wait for a manager after we gave her name. (I'm not kidding they should use this guy for customer service training videos on how not to act). The manager came and told us that her reservation had been cancelled because her credit card had been declined (her card had been hacked so she had to get a new one, but she was charged before that so we thought it was fine- though she was probably only charged for half in retrospect). They emailed her ONCE the day before when she was on a flight/at the airport. No phone call or anything. And I get it- with all that happening, maybe we should've been checking the email more. But my main problem was how RUDE and unapologetic the manager and desk person was. We were treated so poorly and with no remorse. I work in client service and if I had to deliver bad news like that I would be problem-solving and apologizing to the nines. Just "nope it's cancelled, we're fully booked sorry i guess." They eventually started talking to each other (while we were standing right in front of them) about how they "might" be able to book her at the "bar rate" which is the direct hotel rate, but it would be a lot more expensive. When I tried to insert myself into the conversation by asking what they were talking about and what could be done, they were very dismissive and reluctantly explaining things to us. Like they were doing us such a privilege by doing their job. It finally worked itself out as we were able to get the stay at a rate more expensive than what she had originally booked (despite them telling us about 10x that they were fully booked and there was nothing they could do) after multiple attempts on our part to fix it. And when the desk person booked us, there was no spiel that the other, more-friendly desk person had given the people checking in next to us (letting them know about complimentary coffee, when breakfast was, etc). My mom called today to file a complaint with management and was met with the same manager on the phone who tried to pretend he didn't remember her and treated her poorly once again. We will be emailing the managers directly because this is entirely unacceptable. I get it, things happen, but to be treated with such poor customer service made the situation so much worse. If we were met with kindness I would absolutely not be writing this review. I don't know if it's because they thought she was a POS because her card got declined or if this is how they treat everybody, but looking at the other reviews here, it's safe to say it's the latter. To top it off, the hotel in general is not worth the price. No mini-fridge or coffee on the rooms. We called down for an ice bucket and they told us we had to go down to the bar to get it from the bartender. Just sucks with how much I used to love this place. Will not be staying again.

Yelp
I would avoid this place at all costs. We stayed here the beginning of August and had a poor experience. My wife booked online via the hotel's website. We were offered rewards/perks and a free breakfast voucher for entree and a drink We arrive at the hotel and are told that we should have received an email with the perks/rewards which we did not. We were told that the hotel had nothing to do with these and we need to spend our time to figure it out with reservations. We call reservations and they say the front desk should know and well you get the point! The run around. This was never resolved. We lost those perks. Now on to breakfast. It was fine. But now the scam. When you book it says free entree and drink but there is other language that says $100 value ($25/person). Problem is that entrees are $25 so getting a drink is out of the question. Also they claim it doesn't cover kids so they tried to charge us for that and I had to call and fight them. Finally there are the extra charges. They charged an extra fee of spring $50 for facilities! What facilities? The ones you couldn't be bothered to mention in check in??? Finally the attitude of everyone who works here. You all rude and obnoxious. You make it feel like you are doing your guests a favor for serving them. It must be a terrible place to work. So my advice, don't ever stay here. Look at all the one star reviews, those are the real ones!

Yelp
They are charging me a smoking fee when I DO NOT SMOKE. I was never told of the $573 fee at check out, saw the charge on my credit card a few days later. I called the hotel, they said they would look into it and get back to me, as yet no response, they are avoiding the issue. Steer clear of this place, it seems this is on ongoing practice at this hotel, a way to boost your bill with no recourse. Very disappointing.

Yelp
Was charged a $500 fee for smoking, neither myself or my boyfriend smoke or vape. Called to dispute the charge, person stated the room smoke detectors are "highly advanced" and were triggered during our stay. This is impossible. Obviously your smoke detectors are not as advanced as you claim as we don't smoke or vape. Don't waste your money at this place. Will be doing a credit card dispute.

Yelp
Stayed her undercover and sure enough, the rumors are true. I was charged $500 because some faulty sensor behind the tv said I smoked in the room. In the middle of the night. For 5 hours. The management wouldn't reverse charges and fortunately, my credit card company did. It's gotten so bad that all I did was mention the hotel name and they knew what the problem was. That's the wrong kind of advertising in my opinion. The room was cold and dirty also.

Yelp
Really amazing dinner and generous portions! The drinks and food were delicious and the dining room was beautifully decorated--great for a date night or a group dinner out and perfect size portions for sharing also!

Yelp
This hotel was very nice. It was pretty and the workers were very polite. We did have to ask for a few things for the room. We had to ask for a refrigerator, to make the pull out sofa into a bed, and a tea kettle. There weren't any tea kettles left. However, there was a coffee and tea cart by the check in desk. This made up for the fact that coffee machines were not available in the room. I recommend calling ahead and making sure there is a refrigerator, tea kettle, and that the sofa is made into a bed if you will be using it. The location is also great. It's just down the street from little Italy, Chinatown, and fun shopping.

Yelp
The bathroom has a crack in the sink and a crack in the toilet. No internet. The safe box was not working and the phone was not working either. Horrible experience. Bad service.

Yelp
Buyer beware-this less than average hotel will charge you a $50.00 "amenity fee" that provides a guest with absolutely no amenities nor any other service. The hotel specifically fails to provide any notice of this "amenity fee" until after a guest has reserved the room. This disreputable practice is a lame excuse to scrape a few more dollars of profit per nightly room rental. It also violates applicable consumer protection laws and the practice has been the subject of class action law suits. The vine on the archway over the entrance is plastic and looks close up cheap and imitation. The shower in my room leaked water into the bedroom carpet. It's just overpriced for the service and rooms it actually offers.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this hotel. I got lucky and ended up booking a hot deal from hotwire and ended up with this hotel and what a pleasant surprise. I was excited from the moment that I found out. I made my way through the city and right when I found it I know that it was the exact place that I wanted to be in. First off, you cannot miss it because it has a beautiful entrance full of an arch made of flowers and a lively restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The hotel smelled amazing and it was perfectly clean. I loved the style of the blue carpets in the room, and I loved that there was a small desk in the room. Every single person that I encountered was kind and helpful. I even ended up having to hang in the lobby for a while to take a conference and it was perfect. At the end of my trip I checked out and I was not quiet ready to head to the airport. I was able to store my luggage there and go exploring the city one last and final time. I would recommend this hotel if you want to stay in SOHO.

Yelp
HOTEL IS INFESTED WITH FLEAS!!!!! My pregnant wife and I were subjected to an absolute nightmare at this horrendous hotel! We decided to stay there, and what did we get in return? Bites all over our legs! We brushed it off, thinking it was just pesky mosquitoes, but oh boy, were we wrong. We pleaded to move rooms, and finally, after a ridiculous amount of back and forth, they relocated us. Guess what? In the new room, I found a flea on the shower floor. A FLEA! Can you believe it? I alerted the so-called "managers," Kamal and George, and what did they do? Promised to get back to us, and surprise, surprise, they conveniently forgot. Days went by, we were bitten like crazy, and I couldn't take it anymore. I marched down to the lobby to confront George. And what did he tell me? I can't get compensation until they get the pest control results. Seriously? By the time those results come in, I'll be back in California! I wanted to ditch this flea-infested hellhole, but oh no, they wouldn't let me off the hook without paying for the days I wouldn't even stay there! Can you believe the audacity? Not a single apology, not a hint of responsibility taken. It's an absolute circus. This place shouldn't just be closed down - it should be obliterated from existence! It's beyond ridiculous. This whole ordeal is an utter disgrace, and I can't believe such a sorry excuse for a hotel is allowed to operate. Pictures of bites and flea is attached

Yelp
I was very nervous reserving this hotel on Hotel Tonight after reading some of the reviews about it, but overall my stay at Nomo really was a very pleasant one, deserving of about 4 stars. We arrive around 1030AM to the hotel, and we were hoping that we could drop our bags and park our car before we went on our day adventures, but pleasantly enough, the girl working behind the desk was extremely accommodating with us, friendly, and surprisingly let us check in much earlier than we thought we could because our room was ready! We ended up upgrading on HT for an extra 40 bucks making the total $170 after tax and the room we got was a King Deluxe Suite! Not too bad! Plenty of space, clean, decent views from the sixth floor, nice bathroom, and just what my girlfriend and I wanted for an overnight. A lot of the people on Yelp complain about the thin walls or weed smells, but this room had neither, we didn't hear anything at night and it was serenely quiet, which was awesome. The lost star goes with the Ammenity Fee of $40 which sucks, because they should just include that in the booking so it wouldn't be looked at as an "extra" One of the perks of the fee is a $15 credit to the hotel restaurant though, which we didn't end up using because it closed early after we got back from dinner, but, some good news came from that. I asked the sweet front desk girl about giving us a refund of that $15 cause we never used it, and she said it was no problem and deducted it from the "amenity fee" so it was just 30 bucks after taxes, which is essentially for 2 waters, Streaming Services, and that's about it, so a small cash grab. Overall satisfied for staying at Nomo for the overnight birthday trip, but if you stay longer than 1 night I can see how people would be pissed that the Ammenity Fee can add up each night you stay there, so, end of the day, 4 stars.

Yelp
Pretty run down, but in a prime location. I would recommend you look elsewhere to stay. The sink doesn't drain fast enough, noise comes in from other rooms, it's just aesthetically pleasing in the main areas. The rooms are cramped and the furniture takes over the space. I think I would only come here for the restaurant if invited by a friend. I won't be going out of my way to visit again.

Yelp
I had my birthday at Nomo Kitchen. It's super cute with all the artwork and there's a lot of room to move around. The decor is my fav. Everything we ordered was really good. The octopus was deciduous, the pretzel was really good, the Cesar salad was a good size, the ravioli I ordered was delicious, my friend ordered the bolganese made w duck and another friend got the salmon. For desert we had the Oreo option. Everything was delicious. The drinks as well (any remember the one I ordered lol) I'll be back

Yelp
Rip off hotel! Buyer beware this hotel is worst example of a over priced under good hotel in NYC. The room was expensive. The room was small, building old and low quality. The final straw was the unadvertised $50 'resort fee' they charged for room. The resort fee' was in addition to advertised room rate and a obvious attempt to falsely advertise a lower room rate and hit and surprise customers with an additional charge at check in. The resort 'amenities' they claim include use of a phone in the room (for local calls...like no one has a cell phone) and a substandard gym which no one uses. The room service eggs and potatoes was served in cardboard container...no plate and plastic silverware. Very very low class. Avoid this bad bad, hôtel the is trying to rip off customers.

Yelp
A nice solid experience staying here while in the city. Hotel is really cute and pretty and the staff was lovely. Room was clean which is always the most important to me. However the pillows were awful. Super flat. Shower was nice and water pressure was good. Towels were fluffy. The rooms are small but otherwise the hotel is lovely!

Yelp
Terrible service, terrible location, terrible rooms. First of all check in time is 4pm. Then the key cards they gave me don't work. The bathroom sink is in the main room and is almost clogged. The bathroom is a total of 10 sq feet, only a small shower next to where you poop. They only give you a small shampoo and body lotion bottle , how are you supposed to shower with those. I would not be staying here ever again.

Yelp
This place was perfect for brunch in Somo! It is located off a cobblestone road away from the busy street. I wouldn't have found it without my friends who are locals. The lighting and atmosphere is bright and lively, which is beautiful with the giant chandeliers and large plants. I would love to come back when it's warm outside and their outdoor seating is open. Super aesthetic! I got the 9 Cross Egg sandwich and artists kiss cocktail which were delicious. A worker also sent over a free drink which added to the experience:) My sandwich was really yummy and was only 11$ which seemed like a hidden gem on the menu. Everything else is almost double that price so I was a little skeptical of it before it came out. Delish! I give four stars because our initial silverware had food on them and plate had little hairs on them. We were given new but this was a little alarming. Overall, a super aesthetic place to eat and service was fantastic!

Yelp
We was going to stay here but saw the reviews about $500 smoking bill, we don't smoke at all so we'll not taking a chance and they mite charge you for early check out.

Yelp
I stayed in a room on the 20th floor. When I opened the door initially, I was overjoyed - a great view, and a window that opened! But a lot of things felt off for the price and the promise of a "four-star" hotel. Four stars, this was not. The carpet in my room was tattered near the bathroom door and smelled damp. The paint in the bathroom was cracked and peeling. Lightswitches were in weird places. The air conditioner burbled and trickled like a little stream. Employees were unmasked. Maybe some rooms are nice here - the entryway and lobby felt nice - but my room didn't make me feel good. I moved my flight up a day.

Yelp
Do not stay here. This place has bed bugs. We checked into and my husband checks the mattress in every hotel we stay at to make sure. He's smart. Any hotel can have it. I see red spots everywhere I take photos we immediately leave to go to the lobby to calmly explain the situation. I say hey we have a problem the first word out of the front desk mouth I shit you not he said "bugs"?. I said yes. He said I can give you another room. Who would stay in a hotel that has bed bugs!??? That's like saying hey this rooms on fire you want to go to stay in another one above it? No I need a refund I need to leave. You now inconvenienced me because I have to find a place to stay quickly and I'm freaked out because your hotel is gross. I talk to the manger and she "pretends" to care. I show her the photos she doesn't question what her eyeballs are seeing. She says she wants to make this "right" I say thank you. As this is happening another guest had to move her room because she had a an issue with mold and mildew. This is all in 6 minutes. Can you imagine what you would hear if you sat in the lobby for 30 minutes. I was told I would get a refund from them. They said I had to talk to Priceline first I did. They talked with the hotel and they said there was no issue and since we pulled the sheets back I can't get the refund. I will be making a claim to Priceline, the hotel and the nyc health department. Don't fuck with me.

Yelp
Stayed here for two nights for a quick trip. We picked this hotel for the location. However, looking at the online pictures, could not help but have some really high expectations. The entrance definitely is very Instagram worthy! First of all, it is one of those boutique hotels. So the layout is not that typical to hotels. The rooms are small, but well appointed. I was surprised that they were able to fit in so much into that small of a place. Very suitable for one person, if you are two, you will find them crowded. Clean and spotless, however, no microwave or refrigerator or mini bar. No views to speak of, you are literally peering into neighboring office spaces and apartment buildings. Keep the curtains closed all time. Had trouble with the heating system in the room and the room was freezing cold later in the night. They have a small coffee place for morning coffee runs. However, beware that there is only one barista and the queue moves slow. Easier to pop out to the Starbucks next door to pick up caffeine. If you are looking for service and experience, skip this place. If you are here for the location, very convenient and could be budget friendly if you snag a deal at this no frills place!

Yelp
Absolutely terrible hotel!! Stay anywhere else but here. I booked a day use and was treated like a criminal trying to get a free stay. There are two time slots that they have - 2-6pm and 4-9pm. I arrived around 5 as I thought I had booked 4-9pm. It was a honest mistake. The staff didn't mention the checkout time when I arrived so I again believed it was 9pm. I was in the room when staff came at 7pm and was told I had a maximum of 5 minutes to promptly leave the room. I explained the situation but they angrily told me I had overstayed my welcome and needed to leave as they had to clean the room immediately. They acted as if I had this planned and intentionally was trying to get a free stay. If this were the case why would I arrive at 5pm with only an hour left to spare? I doubt that this is a fully booked hotel (why else do they have dayuse lol) and that many people were still checking in at 7pm. I was only in the room for a total of two hours. I double checked and they still had rooms available til 9pm. I doubt they had to clean the room with the immediate urgency portrayed. Also housekeeping was still there at 7pm? Doubt it. Despite my explanation and offer to pay for the "extra" time, staff was extremely rude to an extent that I have never been treated at any hotel. It was a simple misunderstanding but I was treated like a fraud and like I was holding up the entire hotel operation and was staying there illegally. To add insult to injury, it was also my birthday! I'm disappointed by the experience and am leaving with a bitter taste in my mouth about this place. I've stayed here often but will not be back again. Don't expect to be treated well even if you are a paying customer here

Yelp
SAFETY ALERT FOR ALL WOMEN I recently had the most terrifying experience staying at the Nomo Soho Hotel this past week. After I signed my bill in the restaurant on my way to my room in the hotel at 8:23 pm an employee working at the restaurant asked me a series of inappropriate questions including purpose of my travel, if I was traveling alone and asked me to confirm the room number I was in. I had already signed my check and there was no reason for these questions. I went to my room and at 9:47 pm he had come to my room knocking on the door saying, "Service, coming in." Thankfully I had locked everything because I was weirded out by his line of questions. He stood there for six minutes and then knocked again saying, "service, coming in." I waited until he left and then immediately called the front desk. They confirmed no one should be at my door from service at 9:47 pm. I packed up everything, called my husband to book another room and left at 11 pm. I was terrified and there was no way I could stay as a woman alone. The GM called me the next day and ensured me this was an investigation they would open right away. The GM confirmed that these questions should have never been asked and no one should have knocked on my door. He told me they would review the video tapes and be in touch the following day. On Tuesday, five days later I had not heard from their Director of Operations. I demanded he call me back the following day. On his returned call, he asked the questions all over again and said he would review the video tapes. At this point, they had done nothing. After reviewing the video tapes, the Director of Operations called me back. He said unfortunately they have a blind spot where their camera is. You can see me in the restaurant ordering to-go, talking to the employee but because of their angle they "could not see which employee it was." They do not have cameras outside the rooms in the halls to see who it was either. They closed the investigation because "there was no way they could identify the employee that was inappropriate." He acknowledged how scary the experience must have been. That's all. This employee still works at this hotel. What would have happened if I had opened the door? Google search also populates a terrifying result (attached photo).

Yelp
This wasn't a good restaurant the area was good but the chairs where raggedy. Make sure you ask the price of any shot we was charged 60 bucks for one shot of tequila, shame on them for that, the waitress automatically poured 9 oz without telling us. Beware NY treacherous with cost!

Yelp
We stayed here for 4 nights over the long weekend (Valentine's Day and Presidents' Day). I loved the designs of the hotel, the beautiful vines on the walk in and the lights and the blue themed room. The room was a good size and I loved the floor to ceiling windows of the city views. However, we were shocked to find lukewarm water the next morning when we tried to shower. Apparently the hotel was at capacity? But it's ridiculous that they aren't able to support that during a snow storm. We called to request for some water and cups for the room and they never came. The room was also lacking the chrome cast that the amenity fee was promised for. At night, we also smelled cigarettes coming in from the room next door. When we called the front desk, we got a service guy offering perfume for the room which was unacceptable. We went to the front desk the day after and talked to Katie, thankfully she was able to help us out. Whoever is reading this, please let the hotel know to give Katie a raise. She helped us switch our room and waived the fees, and we had a wonderful stay on the last night.
