NYC New Restaurant Openings, September 2025 | Eater NY

"Run by 90-year-old Puglia native Addolorata “Nonna Dora” Marzovilla and her son, Nicola, this Tribeca Italian spot takes over the former Tribeca Kitchen with meatballs, beet salad, ricotta-stuffed pasta in pistachio pesto, and tagliatelle with mushrooms, plus baby calzones and panna cotta, and even a $78 daily-made carb-focused tasting menu from the namesake chef whose pasta at the now-closed I Trulli impressed Pete Wells in 2022." - Nadia Chaudhury

"A second location has opened at 200 Church Street, between Thomas and Duane streets, taking over the former Tribeca Kitchen space. The nearly 90-year-old Addolorata “Nonna Dora” Marzovilla, who has a dedicated place to make pasta in the new spot, and her son, Nicola Marzovilla, first launched Nonna Dora’s in 2022, drawing acclaim for its wide variety of pastas. The new Tribeca restaurant is larger than the original and offers a selection of fish, a $58 three-course prix fixe, and a $78 pasta tasting menu." - Melissa McCart

Nonna Dora's Tribeca - Review - Tribeca - New York - The Infatuation

"Nonna Dora’s is one of our favorite places to go out for dinner inKips Bay, and now you can get their freshly made pasta at their much larger second location in Tribeca. Almost all of the pasta is made by hand by Addolorata Marzovilla, who has been making pasta since before The Beatles made landfall in the USA. There are a few different prix-fixe options." - Will Hartman

Nonna Dora's is great for pasta and cocktails, and if I were you I'd come here immediately for Pasta and drink as many cocktails as you can. If you're going to have just one pasta make it the Ravioli per Olivia, and if you expand beyond that I think the Lasgna and the Cappelitti are both really good, with the carbonara also just being so amazing! Wine list is good, but truly the negronis are the way to start, and then the list goes on from there!

My fiancé and I had a really great dinner here yesterday. I have a gluten sensitivity and they make pretty much all of their pasta shapes gluten free! The waitress was super nice and helpful explaining the menu. We got the gluten free calamari and the meatballs which were insane. Then I got the gluten free pesto ravioli and my fiancé got the lasagna (not gf). To share we got the mushroom tagliatelle (gf). For dessert we had this awesome frozen chocolate mousse 🥲 unreal. Everything was sooo good! Highly recommend if you’re gf or not. It’s a very cute date night spot 🥰

First time at Nonna's and what a treat to walk in and be greeted by Dora herself! We had the trout tartare and the calamari for starters. The tartare was fresh with a kind of raw shallot throughout, topped with micro greens. I thought it could have used a little more seasoning but my palette might have been still recovering from an omakase the night before. The calamari was lightly breaded with a nice crunch and the paired marinara was bright with a lemony bite to it. I could have used a little more salt in the calamari batter. For entrees, we had the orecchiette, malloreddus, and the ravioli per olivia. Every pasta type was beautifully made and cooked but the stand out flavors were the orecchiette and the ravioli. The rabbit ragu was rich and seasoned well with zero "gamey" flavor. The malloreddus was good though the saffron was a little bit too much for me. The pistachio pesto in the ravioli was unreal and will be actively seeking / creating this at home. We finished the meal with the "half-frozen" mousse, which seemed mostly frozen but nonetheless, delicious. Not too rich and more on the milk chocolate side. We paired it with a few digestifs which were recommended to us from one of the servers. One was a $6 pour of Amaro and the other was limoncello-adjacent. Both great. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and while being on the pricier side, the texture of the homemade pasta was a nice touch.

Google
We had the spaghetti and meatball. The meatballs tasted ok but texture-wise felt overcooked or dense. The sauce was a bit thin and bland. It could use more salt or Parmesan grated over it which they didn't offer. Overall not worth the price for the quality

Dora's feels like home - the pasta is phenomenal, the service is warm, friendly, and super knowledgeable (shoutout to Marc and Luca), and the drinks are to die for. Tomato soda is truly incredible and so unique. Crab pasta was a standout, chickpea pasta too. Loved the raw options - we had the trout tartare and scallops and both were amazing. So much love for this place - will be back!

I had a lovely evening last night at Nona Dora’s. The food was excellent, and the ambiance was just perfect. The owner, Nic-came over several times with his larger-than-life Italian personality to check in on us, occasionally joking around or sharing insights about how the restaurant’s décor was chosen. However, toward the end of our meal, a group of three women seated nearby were exceptionally rude to Nic as he stopped by their table. It was unfortunate to witness, but overall, I had a fabulous meal and a wonderful time.

Google
We (three women, this will become relevant later) had a wonderful meal here. The homemade pasta is perfection and there are more delicious pastas to choose from than we knew what to do with. The sommelier was wonderful and we had a beautiful wine paired with our meal. The night got weird when the owner of the restaurant went over to another table of women and announced that he was single in case any of them were interested in that fact. It was very clear that they were not and they made eyes at us asking for help. We sent someone over who tried to get him away from the table and he refused. Then he made his way over to us and asked if we were jealous. Obviously we were not the ones to appease him and he quickly left our table but it was a real bummer of an ending to a lovely meal.

As a Tribeca local, I was genuinely hoping to love Nonna Dora’s. The space is charming, and our server started off warm enough. But the moment we offered polite, specific feedback about a few dishes, her tone shifted — suddenly we were being spoken to like we’d never dined in a fine restaurant before. (We have. Many times.) She tried to keep a smile, but it was the kind that says “bless your heart” more than “how can I make this right?” Even before we sat down, our table of four was told to “be aware of our surroundings,” which set an oddly scolding tone for the night. The food didn’t help its case. The focaccia was dry and joyless — even an extra side of whipped ricotta couldn’t save it. The calzones were utterly forgettable (and truly, how does one mess up fried cheese?). The pastas were the biggest disappointment: the duck ragu was fine, but the crab pasta tasted like red tide, and the carbonara was so salty it could have been scooped straight from the Dead Sea. And just when we thought dessert might redeem the evening, the cheesecake arrived — so bad one of us literally had to spit it out. I didn’t even know that was possible at a place presenting itself as fine dining. Nonna Dora’s trades on charm and nostalgia, but delivers neither. As someone who lives in the neighborhood and wanted to see this place succeed, I walked out genuinely embarrassed for them.

Yelp
I love Nonna Dora's in Kips Bay, though it's hard and annoying to go to Kips Bay and the OG Nonna Dora's there is always full, honestly it's hard to get a seat! When I heard they were opening in Tribeca I was quite excited because this very much hits the spot with what you would want in Tribeca. Nonna Dora's makes great pasta and great cocktails. Some of the best cocktails in the city (especially when Luca is there), and some of the best pasta in the city. If you can I'd try to find a way to get as many pastas and cocktails as you possibly can while you're there. The apps are good, and the crudos and anchovies are all light, which is nice if you're trying to eat pasta, which trust me you want to do. If I'm only getting one pasta, I'm getting Olivia's Ravioli named after the owner's youngest daughter, this pistachio pesto ravioli is just the best. I kid you not I made sure I could eat this on my wedding day. I would eat multiple orders of this, but you'll have to pry yourself away and try something else too, if given the choice of next pasta I choose the lasagna. I love Lasagna and after having Olivia's ravioli it's nice to have something meaty. The carbonara is just also so good, and with rigatonis as the shapes that's quite a treat you don't usually get. The cappelleti also so tasty and cheesy. I know a lot of people like the Malloredus, but it's not for me. The ambiance is not that different from uptown, it's a little less homey and more of a Tribeca Italian kitchen vibe. Truly the spot you want to drop by with your kids for saturday brunch or you want to leave your kids at home for a quick date night....we're not talking L'Abeille vibes here, we're talking good italian food that isn't the Italian-American tourist stuff you're going to eat in midtown, or the sorority girl spots of the West Village.

Yelp
Made a reservation on Resy that changed the date on me so I ended up missing that dinner. Got charged $25/pp. tried calling 10 times but no one ever answers the phone; finally left a vmail as well as an online email through their contact page. NO ONE ever responded to me. So I finally went in person to speak to them - as I WAS planning on joining them for dinner again on the correct date. I was berated so badly, told they didn't have to answer a phone or respond to messages. What restaurant behaves this way? Too good to not respond to messages? SO INCREDIBLY RUDE. WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS RESTAURANT- way too many places that are deserving of my money

Yelp
Visited Nonna Dora's for a rare date night. This is a new restaurant at this location, very close to transit. Were welcomed upon entering and on our way to our table by all staff, which was very nice. I love places that take great customer service to heart. Server came to us promptly, provided menu and told us of the specials. We ordered the pappardelle and spaghetti, arrived hot, perfectly al dente, and flavorful. You can actually taste it's freshness. Server and staff checked on us often and we're very friendly. For dessert we enjoyed both the Panna cotta and the Semifreddo. Not large portions but enough to give your sweet tooth satisfaction. Can't wait to visit again soon.

Yelp
Casual spot for great pasta! Overall ambiance was not my favorite for dinner. The lighting is cool toned and harsh which makes you feel like you are in a hospital. Not the most calming or pleasant dinner experience. However, the actual pasta is fresh, delicious, and al dente! I would definitely return for lunch- I think the lighting would be better when it is light outside (me and my friends came for dinner). We started out with the focaccia and the Barbera d'Alba red. Focaccia was fine- a bit too crisp for my taste and a tad on the dry side. The red was very nice and paired well with our pasta. I am partial to whites and don't love tannin- this red was light on tannin. For mains we ordered the rigatoni carbonara, Maccheroncini Grano Arso, Cappelletti, and the gnocchi w red sauce. All the pastas were delicious! I was a bit underwhelmed by the Maccheroncini and pleasantly surprised by the gnocchi. Although, you really can't go wrong with any of these! Pastas were great! I think this would be a better spot for a casual lunch though as opposed to a dinner.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try Nonna Dora's so I was happy that they opened a second location in Tribeca. We came at opening time so there was no wait. The restaurant is spacious and clean. Very attentive staff. We started with the famous meatballs. The texture and flavor was on point. The orecchiette in rabbit ragu was very good. The noodles were cooked a little al dente as it should be. The meat was very tender and flavorful. The lasagna was one of the best I've had. We ended the meal with mini calzones stuffed with Nutella which was perfect. I loved balance of the crispy outside shell with the softness and sweetness of the Nutella inside. Will come back to try different dishes!

Yelp
Went for lunch. They have a very good price fixed option. Ambiance is poor and service is slow. My GF pasta was excellent but the added duck was bland. My meatball starter was very good. My GF bread was outstanding. Definitely a mixed bag.

Yelp
My wife and I have lived in Tribeca for over 50-years. We do have a soft spot for restaurants. It's a very tough job. Because of our first visit to Nonna Dora's we will NEVER return. I truly wish that owners would realize how important first impressions are. When you walk in to an empty place and are told that the only chairs that are available are at the BAR. You say no thank you and leave. We of course find another and revisit to see it is still empty. I get it there may have been an unheard of cancellations. Please correct your behavior we really want you to stay the economy needs you. Tip One start with a kind smile. -Good Luck you will need it

Yelp
Unfortunately, our meal was ruined as soon as we were rushed out the door. Without any warning one of the managers walked to our table, clapped his hands and said "when it's time to go it's time to go." I looked around to see many open tables around ours. We were shocked! After paying such a steep bill, that lack of hospitality was really disappointing. I've never left a review before, but this time it felt necessary. As for the food, we tried the $78/pp pasta tasting, dry and overpriced. The only dish worth trying was the pistachio pasta. We also ordered the burrata and shared a few desserts.

Cool atmosphere, with four people dining we were able to try many of the dishes on the menu. all wonderful. Service and staff 5 star. Looking forward to my next visit :)

Yelp
The food is great, the service is very good. The decor reminds me of walking into my grandmothers kitchen, truly a gem of a place.

Yelp
I have obviously never had real Italian food even when in Italy. My (now obsolete) joke is that Italian and Mexican food are just the same four ingredients, just presented in different forms. How wrong I was proven at Nonna Dora's Tribeca. As a final meal on my vacation, I was wanting to try Italian food in New York City, and found this restaurant after an internet search for 'best new restaurants in New York.' We were only a few blocks away, so headed over to put our name on the reservation list, as I didn't want to put my credit card info into Resy. When we inquired, the host directed us to use Resy, but the owner told us to just show up at dinner time and there wouldn't be a problem getting a table. Before the dinner service, we really got a kick out of watching Nonna Dora in the front window making orrchiette with a knife, along with another lady hand rolling little bits of pasta along a grooved board. When it was dinnertime, we were seated right away. The atmosphere is that of a cute, friendly Italian diner. The menu is extensive! Everything sounded delicious and the restaurant made it easy to try several dishes with their tasting menu. Our server described the portions as being 'very small,' but by the time we got to the final course, we were quite satiated. We started with foccacio, which as others have mentioned, is on the crispy side, but that is what I prefer, as I don't like to eat doughy bread. Unfortunately, if you want olive oil for dipping, that's an extra charge, which was a little disappointing. Next up were the first two dishes, gnudi in a green sauce and cappelletti with tomatoes and guanciale. Both dishes were delicious, light, and not greasy. A perfect introduction to the style of cooking here. The second round of dishes were orecchiette with rabbit ragu and macceroncini with duck. Both dishes were again presented in a light sauce which perfectly coated the pasta but allowed the flavors of the protien and vegetable to shine. But, the masterpiece was the smoky flavor of the maccheroncini. I don't know how they 'burned' the pasta so evenly and delicately, but it had a wonderful subtle smokiness to it which was perfectly balanced against the fresh flavor of the peas. Finally, the malloreddus that we had seen being made in the window, was presented as the final course. The chewy texture of the pasta was what I have always dreamed about when I imagine 'real' Italian pasta and it didn't disappoint. The flavor of the finely ground sausage was intense and a bit salty, cancelling out the saffron, however. It was enjoyable, but left me feeling very thirsty. I was delighted when the owner sat down next to our table and described the origins and development of their recipes. Personal interaction is always fun and I enjoyed learning his story. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant if you want to try pasta that has authentic origins with modern flavor influences.

Valerie M.

Yelp
Food was fine - small portions for the prices, which I usually understand but this was really a bit skimpy. The apps were very overpriced. The part that really fuels the meh review was that our table of four was sat and finished up in 90 minutes, and the whole staff was eyeing us down and pushing us out. They put on their resy 120 minutes for groups of 4+. We were waiting for one person to come back from the bathroom to leave when our waiter had what seemed to be the manager come over and say "are we ready?" We weren't even sat for two hours, real Italians would simply never. If you're going here, be ready to eat and then run right out of there or they'll tell you to leave

Stephanie L.

Yelp
The food is amazing however they are so rude. Today I had a reservation that we had to cancel because I am hospitalized for an emergency medical condition and when my husband called to cancel that said they'd have to charge us a cancellation fee!!! We are locals the neighborhood and were there last week for dinner but we won't be able to go back due to this extreme disregard for their patrons.

Bob O.

Yelp
Messed up order with antipasti being forgotten, when brought up no tried to make it right, have many forms of Negronis and asked bartender for best choice and answered he doesn't like gin, no real recommendation from server when asked specific questions. Told them we were disappointed and no real action to make it right. Servings are small and salty. Sad but want to share as prices are expensive for what you get.
