"Nonna Tata is a small trattoria that’s BYOB, and arguably the best Italian spot in town. This tiny restaurant has doubled its capacity by adding a cute side patio, complete with mismatched chairs and bistro tables. It’s the perfect place for a second date, and even if you end up running out of things to talk about, Magnolia Avenue provides some epic people-watching under the year-round lighted trees. Impress your date by ordering the best from the menu: the chicken Milanese, gnocchi di ricotta, or chicken piccata are the way to go." - emily smith

I visited Saturday and have been thinking about it ever since. I could write about 5 paragraphs on how much I enjoyed my experience. Tips: Cash only* There's only about 4 tables inside, but the covered patio was quite pleasant on a 98° afternoon* bring wine, they will charge you $3 for a wine glass and they provide a corkscrew

Good homestyle Italian food. We dined at a patio table, it was a little rainy but not enough wind to bother us. The service was great. Its a cash only business mind you, and you can bring your own wine with a corking fee. I will come again and try something else, the Pollo al Limone was not amazing, but still enjoyable. Loved the house balsamic dressing and Arrabiata (penne+red sauce) Focaccia was fluffy, bruschetta was great, seared calimari was interesting

This place is amazing! "A little bit of Italy" tucked away on 6th Avenue and Magnolia. This pink treasure on the corner is cozy and serves up some of the best Italian Comfort food.

We absolutely love coming up to this adorable spot for celebrations, especially. We love the fact that we can bring our favorite wine and the pasta dishes never disappoint. Make sure to plan ahead with cash and no reservations but we have never had trouble getting in. Would definitely recommend the gnocchi 🤍

This place is a whole experience. First off, they only take cash or euros—which is both wildly inconvenient and kind of hilarious. Definitely not your typical modern restaurant setup. It’s tiny, unassuming, and super casual, with mismatched tables and chairs that look like they’ve been collected over time. Extra seating is in a plastic-covered patio, which doesn’t exactly scream “fine dining.” So, when I found out you need a reservation and it fills up fast, I was seriously confused—was this place secretly fancy? Spoiler: it’s the complete opposite. But the food? Incredible. The kind of Italian that makes you forget everything else. Most Italian places serve up sauces that taste pretty similar, but here, every bite felt fresh, unique, and straight out of an Italian kitchen—like they either make their sauces from actual tomatoes and fresh ingredients (which is no small feat) or they’re importing them straight from Italy. Either way, it was next-level good. My only complaint? Almost everything on the menu has pork in some form, so ordering without modifications is tricky. But if you love authentic, no-frills Italian food, this spot is absolutely worth checking out. Just bring cash. Or, you know, euros.

I wanted to love this more and it was very good, maybe I just had strangely high expectations. Extremely tiny restaurant. 5 indoor tables total. We arrived 10 or 15 minutes before opening and we're still 4th in line to be seated. Calamari was good, but it was unusual to not be breaded, but tasted okay. Goat cheese salad was absolutely delicious. Carbonara was authentic (no cream, only eggs) and was way too much to finish. The feel is like something in Tuscany or Sicily, but the taste is a little more American-ish. Reminder, this place is BYOB (plus $3 per glass) and cash only.

Can only speak to the carbonara. Dish was alright. Good amounts of pancetta and cooked well. Big problem was in the sauce they used pre-powdered pecorino which does not melt. This leads to the sauce having a severely grainy texture and is unpleasant to eat. Dish was also slightly too salty. Would consider giving this place another go but would not order the carbonara.

Gosh, this is the cutest little place. The food is simple but delicious. The focaccia is to die for. We ordered a couple of pasta dishes and a mushroom flat bread appetizer that I would have probably ordered 3 of, if I knew how delicious it was going to be. The best part was not feeling overstuffed or bloated after the meal, despite the fairly large portions, which usually for me is an indicator of good quality ingredients. Already have recommended it to friends who echoed positive sentiments about the food. Bring cash :)
