Family-run and luchador-themed, Nopalito’s returned with a bigger space and full bar. Westword details the comeback and house-made approach; Axios readers praise creative touches like cactus-topped nachos.

Service was excellent here, Jonah is a great guy and has Great customer service. Drinks are good, food is even better. Will be back! Happy Hour here as well! Cute glasses you can take home for $8.00 bucks. Stop here you won’t regret it.

Hmm. I was expecting quite a lot from a place with a 4.8 and 500 reviews but I can't say it met my expectations. The burrito was tasty! But small. The views of the mountains are nice! But looking over a car mall. It wouldn't really be fair to rate the staff service on just one visit (nor anything but the atmosphere, really) but no one was exactly wearing their "flair pins". They seemed about as inspired as anyone working in a car mall would be. So I'm just confused why this is so highly rated and I'm still an Illegal Pete's on Pearl sort of guy (I'm hunting burritos). Again, there's nothing wrong with this place, but I wouldn't have high expectations?

Google
Perfect little spot to grab some tacos and enjoy the view of the front range from their patio (where we were allowed to have our dog!). They have fast and friendly service and everyone works together to get your order just right. Try the house salsa! It's the perfect spice level. They have compost, trash, and recycling bins when you're all done- I like their commitment to sustainability! The line style ordering is easy and care free.

Google
My favorite burrito in town. I try to come here every week. The staff is wonderful and the restaurant is super clean. The bar is comfortable and there is patio seating with views of the Flatirons. Portion sizes are large. I always have leftovers. Food is made to order, and the queso is really good! Daily happy hour, and always fast service.

Stopped here on on whim while charging the EV and had a great meal. It's a great little place, friendly staff, very comfortable atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Prices were good, the food was awesome. I picked something I hadn't had in a long time, and took their recommendations and I was very happy with it. Would stop back anytime, and highly recommend if you're in the area.

Google
Best Mexican food in Boulder!! Local restaurant with high quality ingredients that stands out with consistent fresh taste and deliciousness! The owner is very friendly and always greets you with a smile. Literally anything on the menu is good, especially the breakfast burritos with green chili!

Google
We absolutely loved Nopalito’s! The food was fresh, flavorful, and fast—which is always a win when you’ve got hungry kids in tow. Speaking of which, the kids loved it! The menu had great options for everyone, including tasty vegetarian choices, and everything was clearly made with care. Portions were generous, pricing was more than fair, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. It’s rare to find a spot that checks all the boxes for a quick, delicious, and family-friendly meal—but Nopalito’s nailed it. Can’t wait to come back.

Stopped in for a drink while I charged my car! Best priced and best tasting Mimosa in town! Food looks amazing! Staff is very attentive and kind. Bar set up is perfect with a perfectly placed tv! Easy parking!

Yelp
Never heard of this place but drive by all the time. Looking for something quick but didn't want five guys or Panera that was next door. I was impressed by the number of people and friendly staff. Really great tasting tacos. Had the fish taco and shrimp taco. Bigger than Torchy's. I'd say a more limited menu. Good experience and I'd be back for sure

Yelp
Fast casual Mexican food that is worth checking out. Order at the counter and they bring your order to the table. A full bar for those interested in more than food.

Yelp
My wife and I popped into Nopalito's for the first time just a few weekends ago while we were running errands in the area. I had come across them on Yelp previously. We both love Mexican food, so figured what the heck let's give them a go?! Walking in is comparable to walking into a Chipotle-esque, order-at-the-counter set up. The key difference is that they boast a full bar with bar seating, and well, they're truly LOCAL. Cool art murals on the walls tying into the luchador-themed restaurant. I wasn't all that hungry (for once in my life), yet as soon as my wife began her order I was like, screw it I'm here let's get something. I usually judge these types of places by their burritos, however that sounded very filling looking at other patrons dishes inside the restaurant. I opted for a quesadilla and it turned out to be an excellent choice! Grilled Asada Quesadilla // comes with your choice of white or wheat tortilla, plus the meat, cheese and veggies of your desire. I got mine with guac and pico on the side. I have to admit, it was awesome. I feel like quesadillas can be fairly basic, but the meat was tender and seasoned well. We also enjoyed the chips and queso. We like to consider ourselves queso aficionados and we both found theirs to be enjoyable. A little on the runnier side for our liking, but it thickened up the more it sat. Overall, a great meal! Nopalito's should be on your hit list for a fast casual bite when you're not looking for anything fancy. Everything hit the spot, the portions were great, and I felt like the food was priced appropriately. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
I needed a quick lunch in the area and had never been here before, so I decided to give it a try. The staff is super friendly and accommodating, the seating outside is a little close together but it's nice to have the outdoor choice with a view of the mountains over the parking lot. I ordered chicken flautas, which I never get, and I liked having choices of sauces and other sides - even if there is a charge for some. They were hot and tasty. The bonus to Nopalitos besides the staff being so lovely is that I also got a margarita and it was refreshing and well balanced. The bar was a nice surprise because who doesn't want the option of a cold margarita on a hot day? I will definitely go back and try other things.

Yelp
Decent food, friendly service. The space is fun with lots of room. Reasonably priced.

Yelp
I had tasted Nopalito' s food and drink at a community event and had been pleased. We took the opportunity tonight to go to eat in the restaurant at the Twenty Ninth St Mall. It was early but we had other things to do and there quite a few customers, even at a non trendy hour. There was also a steady stream of take out orders being picked up. Easy to do here given the ample free parking by Boulder standards. This js much more centrally located than where they were in far north east Boulder. We had heard really good things but far to go for us given Boulder traffic patterns. The staff was all friendly and we recognized to location as having been an eatery we enjoyed before the pandemic, which had not survived, but their custom rustic wood decor did.i had one problem from the beginning g as the had no paper menus to examine for choices or ingredients. They did have screens up high to read but since I am vision impaired they were illegible,. But my husband has good vision and also had trouble. Luckily I had much decided from the online version though I encourage them to have something in bold letters to use if customer is unprepared. We enjoyed our food and drink. The bowl my husband ordered was full enough to bring home leftovers. I ordered modestly and finished my 2 tacos. I had the shredded beef with black beans, queso, avocado and cilantro. My husband's bowl had steak, luck, black beans, rice, queso and avocado. I sampled his and thought my Barbacoa ( shredded beef) was a lot more tender than his steak. We both had margaritas. Mine was far too strong for me, but many will really enjoy it. My husband was fine with his. He had the classic and I had the watermelon. I will say, the food and service was far, far better than a nearby national chain with similar menu. But maybe not quite as polished with as much variety as a local multi location company. But with such fish service, parking and clean seating. We will certainly be back again.

Yelp
I've been grabbing dinner to go from here since my schedule is nuts, and now my family wants only Nopalito's for dinner! It's so easy to customize every order so everyone gets exactly what makes them happy...it's fresh! It's healthy! ...and it's so delicious. Each of us argues over which of the proteins is our favorite, but that's the great thing -- you can pop in and try each one. The prices are amazing and I am just so happy that this is here. The location is so convenient. Parking is never an issue. Staff are super friendly and helpful. I'd love to order for catering from here, so maybe for a group picnic!
google avatar

Mai L.

Yelp
Super friendly workers and they took my order and made it fresh. I got the steak quesadillas. It came with salsa and I got corn salsa. They offered sour cream and I got both that and asked for guacamole so there was a small extra charge since I had 3 things versus 2 to go with the quesadilla. It was very good and had lots of filling.

libby b.

Yelp
The medium salsa is killer, well worth it! The quesadilla didn't have enough cheese but free guac and that salsa more than made up for it. Service was fast and ambiance is good but that salsa
google avatar

Glenn I.

Yelp
My daughter and I had the Chorizo Breakfast Bowl and the Chorizo Breakfast Burrito. Both were delicious and we could customize the ingredients to suit our tastes. The restaurant was clean and staff were friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Yelp
I've become a lunchtime regular here when I'm in Boulder. It's a refined Qdoba; similar ordering and serving formula but a little nicer.
google avatar

Darrel S.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and good food just the way I wanted it. Order the way you want it, the staff is more than happy to make sure you get what you want. I will try one of bowls next time but my spicy burrito was very tasty and portions are big. Happy to have found this little gem after recently moving to Boulder.
google avatar

Penelope B.

Yelp
Love it! Good breakfast burritos and tasty quesadillas with good salsa and quac. Delicious margs.
google avatar

Jerry C.

Yelp
Thank god Nopiltos is open again at this new beautiful location. Just like to first time we discovered this place food and margs still the best in class. Sorry we missed Milton tonight but you know Dora's handling it. Get here now everyone!

Owen M.

Yelp
Really great burritos, fast service. We ordered burritos for about 20 people and they got it out very quickly. The burritos themselves were incredibly good
google avatar

Sharon L.

Yelp
We are recently back to Boulder after growing up here and after reading the reviews the family decided to give this place a go. Ordering was simple and food was just meh. We couldn't put a finger on the reason, just lackluster overall and the atmosphere just wasn't fun for us. We will try it one more time before writing it off, but there are so many better places to eat Mexican food and so little time. We have been to Efrains 6 times in the past 3 weeks and it has never disappointed us.
google avatar

Ldiasuave S.

Yelp
Discovered Nopalitos at the outdoor concert with Quemando. We didn't have the food but had the watermelon margarita and it was AMAZING! I also had the passion fruit margarita and that was also delicious! We're gonna be coming back to try the food.
google avatar

Mape J.

Yelp
Nopalito's is just plain better than every other fast-casual Mexican restaurant in the Boulder area. The food's better quality, tastier, and fresher, and they have more options (especially for vegan/vegetarian) than anywhere around. The service is better, and the chill vibe in the restaurant is perfect for relaxing. I just wish they were on more of the delivery apps. We'd probably order at least 2x a week! Awesome!
google avatar

Kk S.

Yelp
Great food and is always fresh. They make sure that even though I am gluten free, I get great food! They always have a friendly attitude and they are always happy and smiling!!
google avatar

Bernadette W.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday morning for breakfast and the food was so good. I was surprised to see it wasn't busy because of how good the breakfast/brunch food was. Green chile was delicious and service was fast. The prices were really good for the food we got. Outside seating was perfect.

Sydney S.

Yelp
Truly one of my favorite places in all of Boulder. Great portions, tasty food and drinks!

Danielle R.

Yelp
Delicious make your own burrittos and bowls! Healthy and fresh! Super reasonable too! Go!!!!

Yelp
Yes yes yes!! This place is amazing! Located in a little plaza next to the dmv, a diamond in the rough. You order at the counter and take your food to your table. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. You need to try the chipotle shrimp- I got the tacos Baja style. The portions are big, I was full after two tacos! My friends ordered the nachos (amazing) and the steak burrito and they both very satisfied. Very tasty, high quality ingredients. I highly recommend Nopito's for breakfast, lunch or dinner! We came for lunch and noticed they had breakfast burritos and a fellow customer said they were delicious-we will try to go here again tomorrow to get some! Thank you!!

Tom R.

Yelp
We were on vacation and were craving some tacos. Clean restaurant but the Steak was chewy and unseasoned. Very disappointing for what we paid.
google avatar

Bill E.

Yelp
Soooo friendly and soooo good. We had a hard time finding this place - google maps took us to the wrong part - my understanding is that they were moving soon anyway. We loved the atmosphere and the food options. I got a 3 taco basket and loved that I could try three meats - chicken was the best - the shredded beef was a little too tough for me. We also got a couple of quesadilla's each made a little different and they were huge. The margarita's looked amazing and were reasonably priced - we opted not to try them though because we were staying up in the mountains and the road was a little windy - that we thought it was better that we didn't. The staff were amazing, helpful and proud of the food they were serving - this is a place I would definitely visit regularly if I were closer.

Jacob A.

Yelp
It was fine. I got a few tacos and they were good enough to eat for breakfast. Probably wouldn't come back but I think people in Colorado would probably like it
google avatar

Janay B.

Yelp
Breakfast Burrito is excellent. Extra add ins are great. Service is always fast and everyone is very nice and friendly.

Never D.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place based on reviews. I got a fish burrito ordered smothered - it basically came in a bowl of green chili soup, not smothered but floating. With it came tiny plastic forks and knives that made it impossible to cut. Tasted so so. My partner's tacos were kinda barely warm. Idk, it was a snow day so maybe I'd try it again on another day.

greg s.

Yelp
How have I lived in Boulder for 11 years and not gone to this place until tonight? I have heard via word of mouth from time to time it was good but a busy day and a need for something quick prompted me to give it a try. We went for carry out, a smothered burrito and three taco plus two house margs. Everything was great. If you order the burrito, make sure you are REAL hungry. I got two meals out of mine. The green chili was awesome not crazy spicy but a little heat and a ton of flavor. I really like how they have it set up to build your meal exactly how you want it. They also have a great patio to relay on. If you want some great food to either eat on the patio or take home (along with some amazing house margs) definitely give this place a try. It is surprisingly good and the folks working in there were amazing ! Adding a quick update. I have now been here multiple times and the food is always great! If we are hungry, tacos, a smother burrito, and four house margaritas to go. If we aren't too hungry, chips, salsa, guacamole, and four house margaritas to go! I just love having a place close by that has great food and drinks and a great staff and owner! New update, they are reopened at the 29th Street Mall !!! So glad to have this gem back open and the new location is amazing. The new bar is spectacular and the food is just as good as it was in the old location. I think my wife and I will be stopping in frequently to have a margarita and a snack ! Love you guys !
google avatar

Dana P.

Yelp
Still good! Went back recently and their chips, queso, and salsas are all still delicious, as are their margaritas! Can't go wrong with happy hour deals, as well!
google avatar

Lauren Z.

Yelp
Just tried Nopalito's for the first time today. They had fantastic breakfast burritos and a great patio to enjoy them on. I got the crispy bacon with eggs and potatoes. My boyfriend had Chorizo and said it was fantastic. Service and music was also great. We will definitely be back to try to again, next time for their lunch! Very yummy. :)

Jared P.

Yelp
Awesomeness!!! Get in before more people find out about this place. Only thing better than the service is the food! Great value to boot. Margaritas were some of the best in town. Rolando was amazing and we can't wait to go back.

Patrick C.

Yelp
Went because of the overwhelming 5 star reviews that just have to be bought. Food had no flavor, chips were stale, tortillas were chewy, fish breading was doughy. Staff was not very helpful when we said this was our first time there.
google avatar

Liz J.

Yelp
This place was a delicious random find! We were looking for good food near the skating rink and stumbled across this place. We got burritos and fish tacos, everything was super delicious. They fry the fish fresh for the fish tacos so that it's perfectly crunchy and fresh, and they are decent sized pieces of fish. Steak burrito was super good as well, huge. The service was friendly as well, will definitely come back!

Soo L.

Yelp
The breakfast burrito was good, fluffy eggs and decently crisp bacon, sufficient amount of green chili, but not worth $10, for the price it was pretty small
google avatar

CareyJo K.

Yelp
Soooo great! Can't wait for this awesome place to open and see the new space! Apparently I need to add more characters, so there we go.

Betsy D.

Yelp
We love this place and our kids do too. Very fresh ingredients and lots of variety on the menu so there is something for everyone. You can choose your toppings (like Chipotle, but WAY better, more fresh and more choices). The inside is bright and clean and staff is friendly. We will be back again and again! Give this family business a try. You will be glad you did.

E.B. E.

Yelp
Service and price were fine. This is more like a shot at an upscale Chipotle's without the flavor. It wasn't bad it just wasn't good. We had a barbacoa burrito and barbacoa flautas. The barbacoa was bland no flavor. It had the right texture but no taste. The queso with Chips was bland. Average chips and bland queso. Seating was poorly designed. We were not looking for chipotle but that "authentic" Mexican taste. We got bland and that never happened to me in Mexico.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
First things first. Happy hour is 3-7 and their house coin margarita, around $6, is made with super fresh ingredients, a stout pour of Milagro (ain't too bad for a house marg), and lime zest/salt rim. Check. Next, you can choose a protein and turn it into whatever you please-quesadilla, burrito, tacos, bowl, etc. Then you can decide Baja Style (leans towards pairing with seafood items) or dressed how you like. We are talking about a buffet of options for toppings. Like Chipotle on steroids with no extra charge for guac :) Check. Lastly, the patio is super chill, everything is under $10, and the Horchata is homemade. Checkmate. We've lived in Boulder for 13 years and write reviews for business we love (read: obsessed and want to make sure they stay open so we can get our foodie fix). This is one of those places. It's authentic, fresh, and a total gem.
google avatar

Enio R.

Yelp
Best Baja fish tacos, awesome employees and ambiance. Can't wait for the new location to open!
google avatar

Russ S.

Yelp
You people are insane!!!! It's Illegal Pete's, but basically not as good and more expensive. 13.50 for pretty lousy tacos. Lol!!!! And just look at how freaking dirty the place is! I expected some decent fish tacos with all the jazz on here. Again, basically just Pete's. And that's not a good thing. Fryer needed to be changed for starters. Fish was pretty much all breading. Slightly bitter because the oil was bad. Lifeless and bland. Just wasn't good and threw out my last taco. The queso was almost as bad as Chipotles. The chips were worse. The place is dirty. Not a charming divey dirty. Like it looked like the dudes hadn't done laundry in weeks to boot. There is a level of cleanliness that any proud owner would have. This isn't it. Makes me wonder what we don't see. I have worked in kitchens for 10 years now and I saw way too many red flags. 5?!?!? This here proves that yelp ratings really are worthless. This is a 3.5 star at best operation. Maybe I should have been stoned. In fact I definitely needed to be. And overpriced as well. I'm so disappointed that I'm writing this before I've even started my car to leave. The owner/manager should spend less time being snarky on Yelp and more time cleaning their restaurant. And what's the point of not using bagged crap if what you produce isn't any better? Congratulations for being slightly better than Taco Bell! Maybe manage your employees and make them clean something!
google avatar

Keith T.

Yelp
Napalito's, you impressed us beyond belief. It's so good: the pork, the steak, the chicken, the beef. The margs were on point, delicious and strong. Pick anything on the menu you can't go wrong. The staff was knowledgeable and super kind. Go during happy hour, sit back, and unwind! My vote is for the burrito, it's a straight beast. Please go hungry, ready for a feast! So thank you Napalito's for such a great time. I'm leaving full and happy, with the taste of salt and lime.
google avatar

Melanie T.

Yelp
Boulder's hidden gem. I love their food and the addition of a bar connecting to the outside patio is perfect. It's very easy to socially distance here and the food is consistently good. Queso is a must have and their breakfast burritos are the best. I love that it's locally owned so let's support Boulder's small businesses!!!

Sydney K.

Yelp
I'm so happy they are finally open again in their new location! The food is just as amazing as always and the service is fantastic! The Baja shrimp bowl will always be my favorite!
google avatar

J B.

Yelp
Top five breakfast burrito in Boulder. Huge, huge, huge serving for a great price, make sure that you get green chile inside (and ask for the other sauces on the side). There's gotta be three eggs in there, along with baked potato chunks, which is now my favorite way to serve a breakfast potato in a burrito. Their chorizo is perfect. The one avoid is their sour cream, which tastes like it has chives in it and overpowers other flavors. Dinner burritos are more hit and miss depending on what you ask for inside of the burrito. They're generous here, which is a major virtue but also means that if you order too many fillings that you'll get too much of everything, which muddles the flavor. Prices are on the good side of good. The staff is great. Boulder burritos - breakfast or dinner - are built on green chile sauce, and this is your place for a generous sized burrito with great green chile.

Samuel R.

Yelp
The people are very nice and build your own breakfast burritos go crazy. Very clean! Overall just great

Bee Y.

Yelp
AN HONEST REVIEW OF THIS PLACE: So many reviews don't focus on what the most important factor for any restaurant should be... THE FOOD. Lots of restaurants of Yelp claim to be this and that, or do crazy things like pay for reviews. SO, why does a place that is located in basically a weird mall? If you wanted to visit a restaurant in the backrooms, this is it. But inside, the owner and his family keep serving amazing food despite the hard economy and difficult landscape of restaurants and service. They care, and despite Nopalito's not having the budget for looks, they spent it ALL on the food, on the care, and on loving the customers and people who come in. This is the Ratatouille restaurant. This is a place where people really try and do their best to serve you something that's way above the average. Why so many 5 star reviews? Because people who care about your food serve it to you with love. That is 5 stars.
google avatar

Joshua L.

Yelp
Was going to go to chipotle and my coworker recommended this place. I got a burrito bowl and it was delicious! The ingredients were fresh, and the steak I got was tender. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
I found this place via yelp, on a day when I had business around the area and I am glad I stopped in. I really wish more people knew about this place and gave it a try. I didn't know what to expect, but basically they styled their burrito/taco/bowl counter system to be very much like a chipotle counter but with their own unique flavors and specialty items. I don't know why, but I freaking love this. Maybe because I am SO picky with my burritos as a vegetarian, but having that much control and choice on what goes into my burrito seriously pushes all my happy buttons. Their rice is delicious, their beans are tasty af, and I loved their salsa choices. My burrito was super delicious and exactly what I was craving so much that day. I left feeling satisfied and very happy. I was only bummed out at how quiet their place was, and its so obscurely located. Its easy as hell to find, but its totally out of line of site. I hope they find ways to promote their location better because we need these flavors and food here. Please stop by and get a taste of their good food!! totally worth it
