As we were heading to .. another place.. for breakfast, we spotted this tucked away in small shopping center. We decided to turn around and give it a try. Being from the Midwest, we miss our small town hangouts and 'go to' places for breakfast.
Norman's did NOT disappoint! We were relaxing in the great music of the 60s-80s and videos on the TV to correspond. It was nice and warm, not hot, and not cold.
We started off with some hot tea and coffee. My wife said the coffee was unique and better than any she'd been served at other places. I ordered hot tea, and while it was hot, it was just plain old Lipton tea... It would be nice to have other options.
Then came the food. My wife was torn between the Lox platter, Lox omelet, but ultimately chose the Chilaquiles. I'm not all sure what's in that dish, but you can see from the pictures, it looks good. She finished her plate, which we never do.
I am a fan of eggs Benedict, but also appreciate a good country fried steak. I would judge any place by either. I ended up ordering the crab cake Benedict. This was not a mistake. The crab cake looked and tasted fresh made, it was flaky, and didn't stay together like an artificial hockey puck served at most places. The presentation was amazing, the English muffin was crispy on the edges, which is a nice change from a raw muffin being thrown on to get soggy. It came with a requested side of crispy hash browns, and they were perfect.
My wife also enjoyed a 5.00 strawberry mimosa, which she enjoyed very much. They also had mango, and some other flavors that I can't recall off the top of my head.
In summary, the service was excellent, the menu is diverse, the food quality was absolutely spot on. The food prices are much less than the other breakfast places, which are getting cheap in quality, and raising prices beyond reasonable.
Check this place out, you won't be disappointed.
