I try to temper my expectations based on venue. I wasn't expecting a five star VIP experience in a mall restaurant (Green Hills Mall), but aside from cocktails, I can't justify more than three.
First, the restaurant is woefully understaffed. We waited about half an hour for a table, and that was fine. We sat at the bar and hoped to have a cocktail while waiting. There was one single bar tender, having to make multiple drinks in rapid succession, dripping sweat from his brow. It took maybe 20 minutes to be acknowledged and get our drinks. THIS WAS NOT HIS FAULT. He was moving as quickly and efficiently as possible. Again, this is a restaurant management/staffing issue.
When we were sat, it took probably 10 minutes to be greeted. Again, NOT her fault. You can only function with the resources which you are given.
We sipped our cocktails and orders apps/small plates. We ordered the crispy eggplant Parmesan. I liked this dish--it was cheesy and crispy and had some nice spicy sauce. We also had the prosciutto bruschetta, served with stracciatella, asparagus, and grana padano. It was a pleasing flavor profile with great textures, but the asparagus and the bread could have been toasted/crispier.
I had the chicken pesto at the recommendation of the server. This was regretful. The pasta was overdone and the chicken was weird and chewy--unseasoned. Almost like it was boiled. I left most of it untouched.
They have various pastas--maybe I should have gotten the bolognese (their house specialty). They also have salads, sandwiches, and pizzas.
It was a noisy, hectic, loud environment. The food was mid. The cocktails were pretty good, and most were about 15 bucks each.
And again--none of the issues were the fault of the servers/bartender.
This would be a nice pitstop for snacks and drinks while shopping, but I wouldn't go here for a full meal.
