Nozomi - Review - Ruzafa - Valencia - The Infatuation

"Nozomi might serve the best sushi in Spain—and it happens to be right here in Valencia. The seared salmon nigiri with mayo and roe is iconic, but the unagi is the soul of the place: rich, delicate eel that nods to Valencia’s own Albufera, where fresh eel has been a staple for centuries. Everything from the dobin soup to the toro tartare and lobster uramaki is impeccable. Designed by Masquespacio, the origami ceiling glows above the main dining room, and the open sushi bar stays locked in with quiet focus. Book downstairs or at the counter if you can—upstairs loses a bit of the buzz and that front-row view of the chefs at work, but this is a tough reservation to land, so take what you can get. Nozomi Sushi Bar

"A Japanese restaurant with a zen-like ambience that is enjoying considerable success. Modern Japanese cuisine that is easily recognisable to the general public, including a wide choice of starters. We recommend booking ahead." - Michelin Inspector

Google
A very nice experience overall, with great quality sushi and an excellent service provided by the staff working there, which you can tell are very passionate and proud of what they have to offer. I personally enjoyed it a lot, although I must say my expectations were so high that I didn’t feel amazed or as impressed as I have been in other sushi restaurants in the city.

We had an amazing lunch at Nozomi Sushi Bar! The flavors were incredible—every dish was fresh and beautifully presented. The decor is simple and serene, with a traditional Japanese style that creates a peaceful atmosphere. Service was excellent—attentive and friendly without being intrusive. From start to finish, it was a fantastic experience. Highly recommend this place for anyone who appreciates authentic sushi and a calm dining environment!

Amazing experience at Nozomi from the start and till leaving the restaurant. Attentive and swift staff, restaurant rules about respect and quiet atmosphere, truly Japanese design of the place, nice dishes and ceramics. Food is a whole another topic to cover - I was glad to see organic and bio ingredients. We truly enjoyed the food and ordered some things twice. The bill wasn’t as high as one would expect for this quality, and Nozomi is one of the restaurants in my top list for Japanese food in Europe. The only place for improvement is the tea selection and having a traditional mochi as well. Please add some properly served Japanese tea (in a teapot, not in a mug) - some Genmaicha, Sencha or Hojicha would be great. Mochi is a bit too fusion for me, I’d appreciate being notified about it in advance or having a traditional mochi as an alternative. These are just ideas for improvement, I still would put 6 stars if I could.

Extremely disappointed with my experience here. I came to the restaurant at 3:45 PM, and according to Google Maps, they close at 4:30 PM. But when I arrived, I was rudely told that the kitchen was already closed and I couldn’t be seated. If the kitchen closes earlier, then the listed hours online should reflect that. You can’t claim to close at 4:30 and then deny service 45 minutes beforehand. It’s misleading and a waste of people’s time. No one mentioned anything about making a reservation for the next day. I told them I might come back tomorrow, and they simply said “okay”—with no warning about being fully booked or needing to reserve. So I came back the next day, walked 25 minutes in the heat, and when I arrived, the host asked if I had a reservation. I said no, and they immediately told me they were full. I then asked if I could sit at the bar. At first, they said the bar doesn’t require a reservation—but then told me the bar was also full. I asked if I could wait for a spot, and they said no, they weren’t allowing anyone to wait either. The staff was dismissive and unhelpful both days, and the overall attitude made me feel unwelcome. After spending time and effort to give this place a try, I left feeling incredibly frustrated and disappointed. Definitely won’t be returning and would not recommend this place to anyone looking for respectful service and basic hospitality.

I wish I had enough words to describe how amazing this place is. I’ve been lucky enough to travel around the world a lot due to my work, but this is still my favorite sushi restaurant in the whole world. Everytime I’ve visited it’s been an absolutely wonderful experience. The service and attention to detail in every dish is spectacular, and you truly leave with a smile on your face. If you’re looking for a creative, but true to Japanese cuisine omakase experience, this is your place!

Very disappointed. Came at 3:45 PM and was told the kitchen was closed, even though Google says they close at 4:30. Returned the next day after a long walk—plenty of empty tables, but was told they were fully booked and not accepting walk-ins or even waitlist. Staff was cold and unhelpful both times. Misleading hours and poor hospitality. Won’t be coming back.

This is hands down the best sushi I’ve had even having lived in Los Angeles the last 10 years, where we have excellent sushi. Service is fantastic, locale is minimal but stylish and cozy. The food was fantastic! We got the tasting menu and all the flavors were delicious with very fresh fish. Excellent sake and wine list as well. Can’t wait to go back!

Google
It was great evening at Nozomi. I recommend to reserve a table. The service was incredible, the waiter Mikael had some good tipps what we could order. The food was just amazeing. If you look for big plates you are in the wrong place. But the quality is just wonderful.

Yelp
Not to be missed!! Everything was melt in your mouth delicious. If you are a sushi lover or just a foodie in general, you have to visit. We opted to skip the tasting menu (€35 per person) and ordered a handful of plates plus dessert. Every single thing that came out was fresh, beautiful, creative, and damn good. We had 2 cocktails each and a ton of food and the bill was €109. Expensive for Valencia, but totally worth the splurge. Everyone says it takes two months to get a table, but just call and ask for their next available. I called on a Friday night and they gave us a table for the following Wednesday. Service was amazing and never rushed...we were there for a long time and never felt like we were imposing.

Yelp
Great service, on par with good sushi restaurants in any major city of the globe.
