Nusara

"Chef Thitid 'Ton' Tassanakajohn, renowned for his work at Le Du, leads this inviting restaurant, presenting classic Thai cuisine with a modern twist. The cooking style leans more towards tradition, paying homage to Ton's grandmother and family recipes. Quality ingredients from across Thailand shine in impressive dishes, paired ideally with diverse wines. The top-floor lounge offers a perfect spot for pre-dinner champagne with a view of Wat Pho." - Michelin Inspector

19 Best Things to Do in Bangkok

"Follow the outdoor neon sign that says "Only Kids Drink Milk" to this fine-dining speakeasy that ranks 10th on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list. Head to the back of Mayrai Pad Thai and Wine Bar, go up the spiral stairs and past the open kitchen, and find a small dining area set for 12. One of Bangkok's most exclusive reservations, the restaurant serves a 12-course set menu of Thai chili–laden dishes that are an ode to Chef Ton Tassanakajohn's grandmother, Nusara. Highlights include peanut relish with seasonal vegetables and shrimp paste water perfected over the course of 80 years." - Diana Hubbell, Katie Lockhart

"Rank: #20 "The newest venture from entrepreneurial chef Thitid ‘Ton’ Tassanakajohn sees the man behind Asia’s 50 Best stalwart Le Du return to his roots with a more traditional menu of authentic Thai dishes. Named after Ton’s grandmother, who passed away in 2020, Nusara is a tribute to the chef’s culinary inspiration."

Our dinner at Nusara was absolutely fantastic. The food was amazing, the space is beautiful and the staff is lovely. The whole dining experience was very well curated, with a first part being guided to different parts of the restaurant (kitchen, a bar area at the top floor), and the rest at the table. The staff guides you through every dish, bringing to the table what was used, with details and origin of the dish. The entire menu is an explosion of flavors, spices, textures. My whole group was very happy. Everything was amazing, from beginning to end. For sure I’ll be back!

Nusara, brainchild of Chef ‘Ton’ of LeDu fame. Fine dining at its best serving modern Thai cuisine blending tradition and innovation in the form of tasting menu. Concept here is the chef draws inspiration from his grandma’s cooking and creating playful and bold moments evolving Thai cuisine to the next level. Small, cozy and intimate dining area. From their balcony, experience amazing night views of Wat Pho. From the Impeccable service, vibrant dishes combining with flavors tantalizing your taste buds, the engagement making it an elevated dining experience here. Reservations are highly recommended.

Dining at Nusara was far more than just a meal – it was a journey. From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance transported me to a different world, offering an immersive and elevated Thai culinary experience. Each dish was crafted with extraordinary attention to detail, showcasing the chef's deep understanding and respect for local ingredients. The combination of textures and flavors created a sense of excitement and joy with every bite. But what made the evening even more memorable was the impeccable service. The staff were not only warm and attentive, but they also carried the same level of dedication and passion as the chefs. The server had impressive knowledge of the wine list and cocktail pairings, which enhanced the entire dining experience even further. It was truly a special evening – one that I will remember for a long time. If I have the chance, I would absolutely love to return and relive this unforgettable experience.

Nusara is special in the mood they set right away at the entrance. The warmth of the greeting, the colors, textures and lighting, all create a sense of excited anticipation. They tour you around the building providing fun little discoveries here and there, and then you settle into the upstairs dining room with stunning nighttime views of the exotic spires of Wat Pho. It all reinforces this feeling of specialness. The service is gracious, attentive, and the surprises brought to the table are delightful. We couldn’t ask for a better waiter than khun Ping! The food is absolutely delicious, but also designed to tell stories and provoke thought. Go with someone special and soak it all in. It’s truly unique to Bangkok in the best way.

Excellent presentation, superb service & nice venu. Many dishes had fantastic flavors and balance. My wife and I both agree that a few dishes didn't "wow" us. Then there is the level of heat. I love spice, my wife does not. She ended up passing on one dish due to the level of heat. We both agree as well that the flavors get a little lost from the amount of spice used. For anyone reading this looking for some info you cannot find, the water is 700 baht. A little more creativity would do well, not just flavors and presentation. I say 4/5*. Thank you for the experience :)

The restaurant is beautifully decorated with impressive attention to detail, which raised our expectations. Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the hype — overly sweet and lacking the balance you’d expect from top-tier Thai fine dining. We’d rate the food 3 stars at best. What really ruined the night, though, was the total lack of atmosphere control. Our table was jammed next to a loud, obnoxious group with a personal photographer roaming around and members constantly switching seats like it was their private living room. No partitions, no staff intervention — just chaos. Honestly, if you want that kind of “VIP” treatment, book out the whole place. It’s unfair to everyone else paying full price for what’s supposed to be a refined dining experience.
