The Best Ice Cream in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"This charming neighborhood nook with locations in Phinney Ridge and Magnolia distinguishes itself with a focus on carefully sourced ingredients and a discerning spread of flavors that leans traditional Italian. The gelateria also deploys a fleet of adorable wheeled stands and trucks to cater weddings and other events around the Seattle area, and it does a bustling trade in to-go pints." - Sophie Grossman

Nutty Squirrel Gelato - Review - Greenwood - Seattle - The Infatuation

"If you’re on Greenwood Ave. and require gelato, your only option is Nutty Squirrel. We’d certainly recommend it for that specific scenario, because any gelato at all is way better than a lack thereof. But if some truly great Italian ice cream is in the cards and you don’t mind going out of your way, head elsewhere for creamier, more creative options. We like D’Ambrosio or Gelatiamo." - Aimee Rizzo

P.s. the garage door was closed and maim door was locked before 8pm, and 2 people was working and 2 group of families were eating gelato inside. We thought closed an hour earlier. But some kids accidently locked main door haha...

Google
We tried the Nutty Squirrel and it was fantastic! The flavor was a perfect blend of vanilla, peanut butter, and caramel—so rich and creamy. My daughter had the chocolate and absolutely loved it. The texture was smooth, and the flavor was just right. A great treat for both kids and adults. We’ll definitely be back for more! Oh and the two ladies that worked there were super friendly and kind to all the kids running around. We appreciate that. Thank you!

Google
This was the longest I’ve ever waited for gelato—by far. There were only about 5 people ahead of us in line, and somehow it still took 20 minutes to get served. The pace was incredibly slow, and it felt like no sense of urgency from the staff. When we finally got our gelato, it was… fine.

Google
Stopped by Nutty Squirrel Gelato and was genuinely impressed! I tried the Salted Caramel and Berry flavors – both were absolutely divine. The salted caramel had the perfect balance of sweet and salty, while the berry was bursting with fresh, fruity flavor. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients, and the creaminess of the gelato was top-notch – truly some of the best I’ve had! The shop itself was very clean and well-maintained, which added to the overall experience. While the service was average, it didn’t take away from how fantastic the gelato was. One thing to note: parking can be a bit tricky, especially during peak hours, so plan ahead if you’re driving. Despite that, the gelato alone is well worth the effort – I’ll definitely be back for more! Highly recommend for any ice cream or gelato lovers looking for something special!

Google
Was so happy to find this gem in the neighborhood both in magnolia and greenwood neighborhoods. It’s a sweet haven with a wide array of rich and creamy gelato flavors. They also serve coffee if you want to have coffee and dessert or just enjoy an affogato! The inviting atmosphere and friendly staff make it a delightful experience. Tried pistachio, nutty squirrel in-house flavor, mixed berries, salted caramel and candy cone flavors. Pistachio and in-house were the hits on our table. And they have macaroons too which also tasted decent. Liked their coffee too, just the right balance of strength. There’s minimal indoor seating and some additional seating outdoors. Generous portions and creative offerings add to the overall appeal. A must-visit for gelato enthusiast or anyone with a sweet tooth.

Google
Incredible strawberry ice cream. And my partner had gelato with espresso poured over it. It was wonderful. The girl working there was extrememly kind and helpful. We will be coming back again...very soon.

My girlfriend and I (we’re a Black queer couple) visited Nutty Squirrel recently and unfortunately had a negative experience with the new manager, Mike. As we were waiting outside to enter, Mike came out and introduced himself to each customer one by one, telling them if they needed anything he was there to help them. When he got to us, he skipped over us completely and resumed with the couple behind us without acknowledging us at all. He then brought out samples and personally offered them to everyone except us — he placed them on a table in front of us without a word, while handing them directly to other customers. Another customer even had to turn around and offer us a sample themselves. After we took one, Mike continued to pass the rest of the samples directly to the other guests, again ignoring us entirely. While the gelato itself was tasty and the staff member serving us was kind, this experience left us feeling unwelcome and unseen as paying customers. We shouldn’t have to question whether we belong in a business because of our race or who we love.

Google
I think this Gelato is better than the place in Ballard and Fremont. I think it has a less artificial flavor which is nice. The texture is really close to true gelato (I've been to Italy a few times and ate gelato everyday 🙃 it ruined me lol). The waffle cones aren't as stale as other places which was nice. The Atmos was fun on a sunny day. Worth a stop by :)

Yelp
Nutty Squirrel Gelato is a scoop of Italy in the highly walkable heart of the Greenwood neighborhood. They've got about a dozen gelato flavors--half classic, half seasonal. Most are gluten free, and several are dairy free "sorbetto". You can get it by the cup, cone, or pint. Bonus: They also sell a few flavors of macarons! The indoor seating is cozy and bright. For those occasional hot days in Seattle, there are a couple Adirondack chairs outside, and a garage style door that opens up the entire wall. Keep an eye out for their gelato truck at local events, like the annual Seattle Center Italian Festival. Andiamo!

Yelp
How I heard of this place: A quaint spot in the neighborhood, we walk by Nutty Squirrel Gelato quite often. Rainbow Hop festivities made it only the second time we've stepped inside. Type of cuisine: Italian gelato, about as true to form as can be outside of Italy. Ambiance: Cozy and bright, the garage door windows are open on beautiful warm days, to allow ventilation and a cool breeze as you stand in line awaiting your selection. The seating are is small and packed in with tables and chairs, making it difficult to walk through. The kitchen area takes up more than half of the entirety of the establishment - or so it seems - where two young employees are serving the hoards of children and parents awaiting their treats. On the sidewalk in front, three bright orange adirondak chairs are available, too, to watch passerby and entice them with your glorious, creamy concoctions. What I ordered: We had one order of strawberry shortcake on a sugar cone, and a second order of a double scoop - salted caramel and lemon cookie, also on a sugar cone. I also sampled the Nutty Squirrel signature which was similar in flavor to a Snickers bar, as well as the extra chocolatey one, which was perfectly decadent. What I loved: When it comes to gelato, I'm a sucker for the citrus flavors, and the lemon cookie provided just that. Why I loved it: A quick and filling treat to help us on the walk home. Cost: Average to high.

Yelp
The Gelato was amazing. The wife and kiddo got the vegan strawberry in which wasn't to bad, however that tiramisu was absolutely amazing and a must.

Yelp
Not the best gelato I've had, but it was decent! Parking is just street parking. The night I went, there was only one worker so it did take a while to get the gelato. She looked really annoyed I was asking to try flavors. I'm glad I did because some flavors were not great. They did have a lot of flavors to choose from - dairy free sorbetto, chocolates, fruits, pistachio, and their famous nutty squirrel. There's a few seats inside, but the place is definitely on the smaller side.

Yelp
I actually tried their gelato at a Zoo Tunes show at Woodland Park Zoo. It was so good! Definitely the best gelato/ice cream I've had in Seattle so far. I'm from Wisconsin so I'm picky about my dairy Highly recommend the hazelnut flavor. I also LOVED the vegan dark chocolate gelato. You wouldn't know it was vegan--it was so thick, rich and delicious! Need to stop by their brick and mortar store ASAP because I need more of this gelato in my life.

Yelp
Stumbled on this place by accident and decided to give it a shot! It's a small shop with a few tables for seating. Ordered the Lavender Vanilla and Guava gelato flavors, super delicious!! The lavender vanilla was creamy and sweet and the guava flavor was tart. Workers were kind and helpful in answering questions.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place !! The quality of this gelato brought be right back to Italy. Cute little place and great service too. My personal favorite ice cream shop ever and definitely one of the best around. Have to try the pistachio!!

Yelp
After having a good lunch we were craving for some ice cream and on the search this place popped up with good reviews. Street parking is available. Many other good eats around. We were greeted by a sweet lady, many flavors standard ones and new ones. They do give out samples to taste of your choice. As per the suggestion of the lady I got :- Chocolate ice cream:- Nice creaminess and bold chocolate flavor, more on the dark chocolate side. And my better half got:- Coffee ice cream:- We have had better. So, heres the thing the cup size you get to choose from is small or kidz size. They do fill the cup to top. We got the small one which was $7, WOHH. Its good if you are on diet! Lol. Overall, not for us.

Yelp
My favorite gelato place is Seattle. Their pistachio flavor is to die for. There were many customers when I went, so I got the gelato pretty quickly, which was a plus. Will definitely come back

Yelp
I got the salted caramel gelato and I really enjoyed it! It was creamy and well flavored. I came in on friday after a nearby dinner and the place was packed! The line was wrapping through the store and out the door. The girls working did a great job moving the line forward and getting people their gelato in a timely and friendly manner.

Yelp
Every time I walk past this place, it smells amazing. I finally went inside, and I don't regret it! There are lots of interesting flavors, but with this being my first time, I decided to go with some more common ones: pistachio, salted caramel, and espresso. All three flavors tasted good. The texture was super smooth and creamy. My favorite was the salted caramel. The saltiness perfectly balanced with the sweetness, and it was a bit addicting. I couldn't stop my spoon from moving towards that flavor more often than to the others. The pistachio was a good, solid, nutty pistachio which I always enjoy. The espresso was good but a bit forgettable... I think it could've been stronger in flavor. The service was ok, nothing special. The space has some extra things they sell on racks like honey and such... but the star is the gelato. OH! Lastly, I usually don't care much for this type of thing, but I found the design on the cup very cute. It was of dancing people!

Yelp
My coworkers highly recommended this place so I decided to stop by here before picking up my order from the Chicken Supply a block down. As this is my first visit, I decided to try their classic flavors - small size with pistachio and salted caramel flavor, and they allowed me to sample a few flavors, so I tried their stracciatella and the gianduiotto (hazelnut) flavors. Their gelato is pretty solid and I really liked the strong pistachio and hazelnut flavors. Texture was also perfect for those flavors. The salted caramel flavor was a letdown as I anticipated a bit more saltiness, but the caramel flavor was apparent. Also, the salted caramel gelato texture was a bit icy than smooth. Otherwise, the workers are very nice and the price is reasonable, and it is definitely a fairly bustling place where families take their children for a sweet treat.

Yelp
My husband picked up some Gelato for us recently at Nutty Squirrel Gelato in Phinney Ridge. He got take out, but they do have a nice outdoor eating area for those who are interested. He said that the employee was super nice and answered all of his questions about the gelato. We thought that it was a great price for the value, amount, and quality of gelato. We each got a medium size cup with 3 flavors each for $6.50 each. The cups were quite large and I felt that they gave us nearly a full serving of each flavor, so it was really a lot of gelato! We split both of our bowls so that we could each try 6 different flavors. My favorite flavor was definitely "The Nutty Squirrel," cute that they have a signature flavor that is named after their shop. It tasted quite peanut-buttery to me, and I am a fan of peanut butter. Other flavors that we tried: *Moroccan Rose - special limited edition flavor just for Mother's Day, so it might not be around much longer, but it was really unique and very good so I recommend trying it if it's still there and if you're hankering to try a new gelato flavor that you've never tried before *Chocolate - delicious, I ate a lot of that flavor *Pistachio - my husband likes this flavor of gelato, so he ate most of that one *Sea Salt Caramel - also one of my husband's favorites, he liked it *Mint Choco-Chip - one of my favorites, it was very delicious We are happy with our gelato experience at this shop. My husband has tried every gelato place in Seattle in the past (he loves gelato a lot) and he liked this place. Recommended for a tasty spring treat.

Yelp
Good gelato is hard to find. But look no further, the nutty squirrel is such a fun place to go for a sweet treat. There are a few tables outside tables if you want to stay and enjoy your dessert. We tried the nutty squirrel flavor, which tasted just like a snickers. Yum! We also had the brownie chocolate flavor which was also delicious! We didn't realize the fancy cone was the dipped one with sprinkles.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
It's good ice cream! It's just not good gelato... It doesn't have the right creaminess, richness and thick texture as a proper gelato. But they are definitely making tasty ice creams. The stracciatella was fine - it's a classic gelato flavor, a simple sweet cream base with dark chocolate drizzle. The nutty squirrel was recommended, which makes sense given the name of the shop, and it was good too. Peanut butter ice cream is never a bad idea. The cone was tasty too. It's a cute shop on a nice street with some other things to see, and nearby the zoo. I would go again because it's good, it's just not good gelato.

Yelp
New favorite gelato place!! Amazing gelato and very friendly workers :). My friends and I got the pistachio, salted caramel, mint chocolate chip, rose, and espresso. Our favorites were the caramel, rose, and pistachio - but they were all amazing!! We were really surprised at how big the medium size was. The medium size is $6.50 and allows up to 3 different flavors, but it's definitely more like a large. Really good price for the portion!! The small is around $4.95 and allows for up to two flavors and is probably around half the size of the medium. It was pretty easy to find street parking when we went. There's a small table outside but otherwise seems like it's just take-out for now. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Might be my favorite gelato spot in seattle! It was very creamy and not too sweet. Lots of flavor. I would definitely return!

Yelp
Very cute little gelato shop that I fortuitously discovered on an Instagram reel. The staff was very kind, answered questions and patiently waited while we tried a few flavors. It's a little pricey, but so worth it!

Yelp
We've been going to Nutty Squirrel for years and really love it. The flavors and texture are spot on and they often have a fresh flavor to try. Service is always friendly and fast and Nutty Squirrel is a great community member helping out the local elementary school. We recently tried one of their gelato cakes and it was great. Beautiful and tasty with a delicious crust and white chocolate garnish. I wish I had snapped a photo before we gobbled it up :)
google avatar

Yelp
Really enjoyed our experience at Nutty Squirrel. Their gelato is a standout in the Seattle ice cream scene. Tasted like true gelato, flavor forward with creaminess to follow. I got a waffle cone with hazelnut and my wife got pistachio. Still thinking about those flavors! Space is small and kind of kid themed in a way, but we enjoyed our quick bite indoors before moving on. We'd return or try one of their other locations.
google avatar

Ashley F.

Yelp
This is a cute little spot with yummy gelato. We had scoops of chocolate, mocha (nut? Crunch? Can't remember), almendrado, candy cane, mango coconut, and stracciatella. All delicious, but our top recs would be the chocolate and mango coconut. Pretty convenient for a post-zoo stop, and service was friendly.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Overall had a positive experience and the gelato was yummy, however, we thought it was a little odd that the scoop of ice cream provided with the molten lava cake was relatively small. We ran out of gelato way before we were finished with the cake itself. It'd be great if they provided a bit more gelato with the cake.

Quinn O.

Yelp
Went here a couple weeks ago and the vegan flavors were gas. Also the girl who worked there. I think her name was Nola she was incredible. The store was very clean and I loved the vibe it had. The forest berry flavor is amazing 9.69/10. Prices were a little high so my overall rating for this place is a solid 7.3 due to the high prices
google avatar

Janessa H.

Yelp
Friendly staff and good gelato! They have all the classics... espresso, dark chocolate, stracciatella, pistachio, and even some out of the box flavors like apple pie, matcha, and peanut butter (nutty squirrel). I got a small scoop (2 flavors) with mint rocky chip and chocolate. Both were delicious! I will say... It has more of a rich ice cream consistency than gelato, but not complaining, still tasty. They also have lava cakes that look delish! I will definitely be back to try one.

Yelp
This place is perfect for a late night sweet treat craving. Popped in here for something sweet and left with creamy, flavorful, gelato. This place is a bit pricey but overall no complaints. I got the pistachio and lemon cookie with poppy seed gelato. The pistachio was nutty, salty and creamy. Tasted exactly like pistachios and was very good. Needed a bit more Almond extract for that sweet flavor though... the lemon cookie flavor was good but not outstanding. The poppyseed flavor was pleasant. The other gelato was an espresso flavor and a grilled peach mascarpone flavor. The peach was pretty good. The espresso was also good, nice intense coffee flavor. Overall, would recommend. Indoor decor was mid but the food is what we are here for!
google avatar

Victoria C.

Yelp
Probably around a 3.5 stars for me. I've come to Nutty Squirrel a couple of times after dinner at Opus Co. down the street. It's just a sweet way to end a nice dinner. Parking is street parking, but not too bad. You might have to walk a couple of blocks. The service has always been friendly and nice. They're never impatient when you ask to try flavors. I normally get a waffle cone with 2 different flavors. I think the prices are pretty comparable (cheaper) to Salt and Straw. The waffle cones in my opinion are good but not as good as other places? The gelato is good, I love the stracciatella. I also tried the summer berry recently, and that one was fantastic. The berries really came through, it was very refreshing. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way for this place, but with friendly service and good flavors, I would definitely stop by if I'm in the area
google avatar

Yelp
Very good gelato. Well worth the stop. Give it a try. You won't regret it. The salted caramel was addicting.

Diane W.

Yelp
Went for the first time today. Store was empty, which was nice. I got a small cone with salted caramel and chocolate and it was REALLY small...the counter person couldn't get the chocolate out of the scoop and basically left half of it in the scoop. I paid $8.72 for a very small cone. Taste was okay...but I recently spent time in Spain and France and this certainly didn't compare with those wonderful gelatos.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped by a bit after 8pm on a weekday and found the staff person to be extremely nice and friendly. She gave us her helpful reviews of some of the flavors we were considering (comparing them to other foods we have had, not just saying, it's good!) and helped us choose our sizes. We then learned that there had been a long line of customers for hours that day and that we'd just missed the crowd. What struck me was that she was so patient and kind with us even at the end of such a tough shift. Onto the ice cream: I ordered the passion fruit yogurt, and it was divine. The passion fruit taste came through clearly without tasting artificial or overpowering, and there was just a hint of tartness from the yogurt. This is exactly as the scooper had described it by the way. They also have a rotating guava yogurt flavor, so I'll hope to encounter that next time. My husband got the lemon custard cookie ice cream. The flavor was more like Meyer lemon--not very sour. One thing I loved about the offerings: nutty squirrel has two sizes of waffle cones (large and small) but they also have cake cones. I love cake cones, but fancy places seem never to have them, so I was happy to find them here! I look forward to going back to Nutty Squirrel to try some of their other flavors, encouraged by the kindness of the staff!

Yelp
We chose Nutty Squirrel for our wedding because they had my 3 favorite desserts that I wanted for my family & friends - ice cream, chocolate lava cakes and macarons. I couldn't believe my luck that I actually found one vendor that could provide them all! Moreover, Nutty Squirrel excels in all these desserts, not just one. The owners were responsive and super great and accommodating to work with. They had 3 catering options and prices laid out which made it easy for us to pick what we wanted to go forward with. For ice cream we were able to pick 4 flavors - vanilla, coffee, guava sorbet and pistachio. I think the pistachio is my husband's favorite ice cream in all of Seattle! When we went in person to try flavors, upon hearing that Nutty Squirrel was our wedding vendor, the staff gave us two cups of ice cream for free, which was so nice! Our wedding planner also told us that Nutty Squirrel staff were fantastic at our wedding. The venue's microwave shorted out due to how many lava cakes we were microwaving and they were able to deal with it quickly, calmly and efficiently. I can't thank them enough for being able to wow my guests with their desserts!
google avatar

Jesse S.

Yelp
It's a cute little gelato store. May seem a little expensive but their prices seem on par with other local ice cream/gelato shops that offer handcrafted, seasonal flavors. I tried the Northwest forest berries, pistachio and blueberry balsamic panna cotta. Everything was yummy!
google avatar

Thao H.

Yelp
I have ate Nutty Squirrel many times (ate some at their Phinney Ridge location, chocolate festival, and other local events) and it always taste delicious. I have to say they are my second go to spot for gelato (first being Gelatiamo) in Seattle. Their gelato texture is really creamy. Their pistachio is a tannish color at this gelato shop, but I still like the flavor. Don't be thrown off on the look/color of their gelato. I promise this gelato spot's flavor and texture is good. Currently, they have three shops. Two are located in Seattle (Magnolia and Phinney Ridge) and one in Maple Valley. They also do catering, which I think is wonderful because they have cute tricycle and mini ice cream car. Yesterday was the first time I saw the mini car and it was absolutely adorable.
google avatar

May N.

Yelp
It's a cute little shop in a nice neighborhood. I've been here a couple of times, the service is okay. They do offer NON DAIRY/ VEGAN options as well as SEASONAL flavors. Dark chocolate is my favorite. It's rich and chocolatey. I've tried the mixed berries and it was a little bit too sweet for me. Small serving is up to 2 flavors : $4.95. It's quite reasonable though not big scoops. I wish they could serve the gelato neater.
google avatar

Maryam K.

Yelp
This is my fav gelato spot in Seattle so far. The staff is so kind and open to making suggestions. Our first trip we picked Nutella and Forest Berry from their recommendations. Will be back :)

Ben J.

Yelp
Best service around. The gelato is amazing. Clean store and friendly workers. I appreciate that the restroom is for employees only.
google avatar

Angie K.

Yelp
The ice cream was so delicious! I got the pistachio and spiced apricot pannacotta. So yummy. And service was great! Very friendly neighborhood gelato spot.
google avatar

Caitlin H.

Yelp
The graham crackers in the s'mores gelato were just sort of "okay." Maybe I would have enjoyed them more if I hadn't also had a waffle cone. I could see the toasted mini marshmallows in the gelato, but they didn't contribute any texture or flavor at all. The "chocolate ribbon" actually made the gelato at least half chocolate, but it didn't taste much like chocolate. The gelato was still soft and pleasant, though. The waffle cone was crispy, fresh, of a good thickness, and had a sweet, sightly buttery taste. Nothing here was outstanding, but I would come back for another cone, especially of a different flavor.
google avatar

Crysten K.

Yelp
Nutty Squirrel has the most delicious, flavorful, and creamy gelato! I'm not a huge sweets person but I was in heaven eating their gelato. Chocolate flavor was amazing! Will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Tori Z.

Yelp
Disappointing. I was excited to finally get to Nutty Squirrels early enough they still had waffle cones (they run out early since it's popular) but left very disappointed. I love the straciatella gelato and ordered a single scoop in a waffle cone. The server literally put in a single scoop without filling in the cone at all. $6.83 for a tiny scoop of ice cream in a waffle cone where over half the cone was empty. When I got home I filled the rest of the cone with ice cream to finish it. Not at all the satisfying summer treat I had been looking forward to.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
One of the best pistachio ice cream I've ever tried! I'm usually not a fan of pistachio ice cream but this one here is really really good! They also have other interesting flavour too and they offer tasting too

Yelp
So we're in the time of Covid, and stay-at-home has got me climbing the walls. I'm in a group Messenger chat with 2 of my nieces on the other side of the country and while we're going at it, my one niece looks up and contacts Nutty Squirrel Gelato. 1/2 hour later, BINGO! A lovely assortment of 10 DIFFERENT FLAVORS is at my door! Seriously?! Yes, had it been halfway melting mediocre vanilla ice cream I'd have been glad to get it. But noooooooo. 10 f*@king flavors! Amaretto, pistachio, espresso, chocolate, stracciatella, sea salt caramel, ruby chocolate, sour cherry, lemon grisbi, and CHARCOAL ROSEMARY! Who the hell makes CHARCOAL ROSEMARY??!! They do, and it is F*@KING FABULOUS! ALL the flavors are. So when this virus has passed and I can get out the door, I'm heading straight to Nutty Squirrel Gelato.
google avatar

Hannah Y.

Yelp
Clean, cute, friendly staff, and generous scoops! Had the creamy minted choco chip and it was SOOOOO MELTY AND DREAMY. I don't eat ice cream often but when I do, it's gotta be the best. Highly recommend this place if you're craving dessert! Yummy!
google avatar

James N.

Yelp
Pretty solid gelato but quite pricy. If they raise their prices any further, I would probably take off a star or two and hesitate to come back. $5.45 for a small plus tax and tip is steep for what amounts to a child's fist size of ice cream. The pistachio was delicious and very creamy and flavorful. I also got the watermelon sorbet which was probably an odd combo but was refreshing and tasted just like watermelon, not artificial tasting. If I go back I would likely just stick to pistachio though. The salted caramel was also decent but a little too sweet for me. Employee was friendly enough and was a nice little shop in a cute area, found street parking pretty easily on a Monday night. Wish the portions were bigger or prices lower but I guess that's the inflation-driven economy that we now live in.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
Was absolutely fire, my girl loved the caramel one. Texture is unreal. Plus ya got the Italian guy slinging gelato behind the counter what more could ya ask for.
google avatar

Lei G.

Yelp
Afternoon gelato fix! We had the sour cherry & chocolate gelatos! Delicious combination of flavors. No samples due to Covid. Service was quick & friendly! Sat outside & enjoyed it & the Greenwood neighborhood!

Yelp
Usually this place is great. Great sevice from the regular employees. But the guy today scooping gelato is worthless. Arguing with me saying I can only get 3 scoops with a medium and then no waffle cone? What? Um just had 2 scoops on Friday after pizza in the Medium. This guy is just new. Just be aware if have to order different than normally. Know the employees on the normal days are Rock Stars.

Yelp
Driven past Nutty Squirrel Gelato a gazillion times and never with parking karma. But for some reason, despite a full stomach full of Indian food, I was compelled to have some gelato on 4/29/16. Drove up and down with the mindset must find parking...driving down the median, doing U-turns, until success a few blocks away. Finally, entered the bright, inviting location, dazzled by the selections, great background information provided by the counter person, paid and was about to delve in, and my son commented about something I wasn't proud of. In my laser focused, driven need for gelato, I had essentially cut off another customer in line. That even mortified my son. Even another trio had cut her off too. She was patient (the type of person who wouldn't honk her horn or flip you off in traffic)...that level of Seattle niceness. Anyways, she was trying samples and noticed that I was hovering nearby. Paused and wondered if I had a question for the counter person as her order was being filled. No, I didn't, I apologized for absentmindedly cutting in line and said I am paying for her order. She protested and stated that wasn't necessary, but finally acquiesced when I stood my ground by the Square register. Finally seated at the window counter, ancient Catholic guilt assuaged, I savored that full flavored, smooth chocolate gelato. Wow! Taste buds fully dazzled. Even tried some of the kiddo's raspberry gelato...ever eat fresh raspberries picked directly from the cane on a warm summer day? Yes, that intense. Terrific counter person kindly rewarded my bungled first visit with a freebie coupon, to add to my newly minted stamp card. Definitely Nutty Squirrel has a dedicated return customer. Lots of gelato spots in Seattle, even another indie ice cream spot a few blocks away, but the wait was well worth stopping by. Next time with more attention while driving and no line cutting!

Yelp
Nutty Squirrel, what a coincidence! I have a pet squirrel, named nutty! So naturally, I had to check this place out. Went in around 8pm, on a Friday night and I was surprised to see that we were the only customers at the moment. Our cashier Lily, was so sweet and stayed patient with me the whole time. She politely offered us samples when she noticed that I had a hard time choosing which flavors I wanted. Eventually, after many many samples(literally) I ended up getting the coconut/hazelnut in a cup. While my friend chose the salted caramel flavor. We both loved it! My two combination was well balanced and it was just so delicious! Not only am I satisfied with my ice cream, the customer service was the best part. I would definitely come back to take advantage of the point card system that automatically registers when you pay with your card. Safe to say, this is definitely one of my favorite gelato place around! Ill be back for sure!

Yelp
Delicious, creamy gelato in a cute shop in Phinney! The pistachio flavor is soooo good, and I loved the seasonal Biscoff & Nutella.
