The Best Brazilian Restaurants in the Northeast - Eater Philly

"Opened in 2005, Picanha is a staple in Oxford Circle, so much so that it has expanded to two new locations outside of the Northeast. Whether you choose rodizio-style or by-the-pound, start your visit at the 'salad bar,' which is notable for non-salad options, like meats, seafoods, and pastries. Be sure to save room for the various flame-grilled cuts of beef, lamb, and pork carried through the restaurant and served tableside at your desired doneness. You’ll also want to try the popular sirloin picanha cut, the restaurant’s namesake. If you’re feeling more adventurous, keep an eye out for the skewers of coração de frango, or chicken hearts." - Shawn Ralston

All I ordered was fries for my 45 minute lunch break. Server said it will take 15 mins…but it never came. :( went back to work hungry. They can keep my $8 but I wish I got my food in a timely manner as promised. I didn’t want to cause problems so I just left.

Wow! The ribs were the best I have ever eaten! The rice and beans hit home, I felt I was back in Brazil. As always, I was treated with much courtesy by my waitress, this place has made a client out of me mainly because the food is so good! Highly recommended!

Yelp
Terrible food!! I just wasted $18 on picanha steak that came with rice, fried yuca, beans and salad. First of all the meat was tough and ligaments, it was NOT picanha! I asked if the meat was grilled and the server said yes which was a LIE, it was done on the plank or fry pan. Even the fried yuca didn't have any taste! It was hard to chew and did not taste at all like yuca. I don't know what that was. Beans and rice was very salty. I had to throw the whole thing away!! Very disappointed. Yes, they are open. It says above that they closed which they should be close, forever!!

Yelp
i asked for their special, which was these boneless ribs. Sounded great. Until i took my first bite and literally felt chunks of salt on the meat. Very unpleasant. Also i asked for a side of yuca. They had the audacity to give me three over cooked pieces like it's some type of gourmet Michelin star restaurant. I paid about 18-20$ for a plate that had small portions of beans , yuca & rice and over salted meat. This wasn't the first time i had an issue with portions as well. What really confuses me is the prices of their food and how it changes every time i go. I pay either 11,12 or 14$ for açaí every time i go . This restaurant really needs to be more organized and care more about what they are serving before they run out of business. Only thing good about this place is their fruit based food, THATS IT! PS: I'm Brazilian and i know how this food should taste like. I apologize if you ate here and got a mis representation of our culture/food. Try broncos or cantinho brasileiro.

Yelp
Terrible place!!! The owner is the rudest person I've ever met! Ordered my food and when he came with the check the amount was doubled the price. He refused to show me the prices of each item and kept repeating that it was the 8%. Rip off!! Don't go there!!! PS: As a customer I have the right to know what I'm paying for!!

Yelp
DON'T GO IF YOU HAVE DIETARY RESTRICTIONS. I specified that I'm a vegetarian before ordering, did not felt the need to specify that my body can't handle pork. The server although very friendly did not warn me about the tiny pieces of ham in the filling of my order. Immediately after I finish I had to throw up, itching my whole body like crazy. When I confronted her about it, she say she THOUGHT that I knew and that maybe I was just feeling like eating meat. Pure ignorance. I'm lucky that my pork allergy is not severe and that my body quickly handled that. She still charged me for my food, and I'm still nauseated and waiting for the medicine to work. Never again.

Yelp
We have visited several times. The coxinha and pastel are delicious. The mixed grill platter is great to share with friends. I love a good suco de manga. Great food for a good price. Enjoyed!

Yelp
Excellent food, drink, desserts, and services. The owners are very friendly and accomodating. I've taken my coworkers here a few times and it also hosted my Dad's birthday party. The place is small, but the authentic Brazilian dishes, drinks, and desserts make you feel very welcome. Come Fridays beginning at 7:30pm to all you can eat delicious Brazilian pizza. If you haven't tried Brazilian food and drink, you should. The area is located in a small strip mall in the Northeast that attracts Brazilians that are mostly come from the countryside. They tend to congregate outside, but they are harmless. Entrees are under $13. This actually is my favorite place to eat in the Philadelphia metro area for value.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! Always surprised that they are not busier, but I have always enjoyed the basic Brazilian food that they serve. Nothing fancy, but highly authentic Brazilian food. Staff always friendly and attentive. Obrigado por representar-nos muito bem!
