The 20 Best Food Carts In Portland - Portland, OR - The Infatuation

"An offshoot of the Neapolitan pizza cart Paladin, Oathbreaker in Mt. Tabor’s Hinterland pod, bakes thin, crispy NYC-style pies and slices that are almost floppy—perfect for folding if you want to cosplay as a New Yorker. The short menu features the standout Beholder, a spin on pepperoni with roasted garlic ricotta and de rigueur hot honey (yes, there’s also housemade chili crisp available) for a sweet and savory twist. The vegetarian Dryad amps up the umami, with meaty roasted mushrooms, drizzles of pepita pesto, and fontina in addition to mozzarella. Portland is woefully stromboli-deficient, so don’t squander an opportunity to try this rolled-up form with a sesame-parmesan crust, red dipping sauce on the side." - krista garcia

The Best New Restaurants and Food Carts in Portland, March 2025

"Paladin Pie’s new sibling cart Oathbreaker, opened in November, is the latest addition to Mount Tabor cart pod Hinterland. Here, Leo Brill turns out crispy-bottomed New York-style pies made with slow-fermented sourdough out of the cart’s gas oven. Diners can customize half-and-half pies, opt for a classic pie pocked with pepperoni cups, or try the Bard pie with Calabrian chile cream, feta, giardiniera, and homemade Italian pork sausage. The cart also bakes ingredients like pepita pesto and roasted mushrooms into stromboli — don’t forget to add a side of ranch or chile crisp for dipping." - Paolo Bicchieri

Portland Pizza Maker Paladin Pies Plans New Oathbreaker Cart Serving New York-Style Pies | Eater Portland

"Opening Friday, November 1 in the Hinterland Cart pod, Oathbreaker Pie continues the Dungeons & Dragons motif — an "oathbreaker" being a story path where players break an oath, here a tongue-in-cheek break from wood-fired pizza. I note Brill will chef both carts but Oathbreaker uses a gas oven and serves crispy-bottomed New York–style slices sturdy enough to support heavy toppings, a style that required reworking the recipe he used at Paladin while still using a slow-fermented sourdough. The cart will offer classic New York pizzeria dishes like garlic knots, stromboli, and Caesar salad, and favorites from Paladin such as the buffalo chicken pizza will also appear. Brill’s current focus includes providing a living wage and health care to his staff, feeding guests who can’t pay, and donating pies when possible." - Rebecca Roland

Top notch pie! Reminds me of slices I’ve had in NY but somehow way better. Top notch queer and nerdy vibes. Friendliest staff in the land! 10/10 would recommend

Google
Excited to have another spot for pizza over here in SE. Kind staff, excellent location (though parking blows, but that’s my problem), and the quality of ingredients is clear. Great sauce and cheese ratio. Admittedly, I prefer Paladin more, but still excited to have them!

Google
Got the pep slice with the house hot sauce and was satisfied! The price is solid, but I really liked the house hot sauce! Would love to try their other addons, as well as their specials one day. But most importantly, the service was 15/10. Truly above and beyond vibes. A beer and pizza here is a solid combo!

Welp, this is now my favorite slice spot in Portland. Nails NY. The issue with so much pizza in Portland is the edge, always hard and too much of it. Not here. Somehow they managed to maintain an airy chew after the reheat. Sauce is balanced. Slightly sweet, just the right amount of tang. They sprinkle fresh parm on every slice and the ranch is killer (if you’re into that kind of thing). Really well done. I think some people will be critical of the “flop” and the lack of 18” pies. To that I say, flop is fine, and the prices perfectly reflect the size. $3 off a 16” pie is spot on. There are places actually charging $6 for a slice of cheese in Portland. That’s f-ed up. Will be back 100x.

The Dryad was one of the best pizzas I have ever had! The quality of individual ingredients really shines through and the creative combinations on the menu make this pizza feel like a new wonderful experience every time. Also, the folks working here are very kind. It was so nice to grab a pizza and hang out on the heated patio. Made the venture out in the chilly Portland weather WELL worth it. I highly recommend checking them out!

Google
One of, if not the best NY style pie myself and my girlfriend have ever had in Oregon, let alone in general. We got a full Pepperoni pie and Garlic Knots, and the only words my girlfriend could muster the entire time were “oh my god” and “this is amazing”. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Google
Sincerely wonderful pizza created by one of the sincerely most wonderful people. If you love to support small business and eat good food, don't sleep on Oathbreaker.

Google
We wanted NY style last night and oathbreaker didn't disappoint. Perfect crust, sauce was nice with a hint of acidity from the tomatoes and the toppings of the beholder were fantastic. They got our order accurate too as half had no cheese, which the dairy-free person in our party greatly appreciated. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
This place is a branch of the fabulous Paladin Pie, but it makes a different pizza: Oathbreaker's is a thinner, NY-style crust, baked in a gas oven (while Paladin is thicker and chewier, more Neapolitan, and wood-fired). Both have a tangy sourdough crust that seems to improve after a day or two. Seriously -- get enough so you have leftovers to take home and reheat later. The crust gets more flavorful after sitting in the fridge. It's at Hinterland, a small but nice food-cart pod featuring indoor and outdoor seating and a full bar with good beer options as well as NA drinks and liquor.

Yelp
Great pizza! Super tasty garlic knots, but I wish they were a more well done and crispy.

Yelp
Definitely go check out this pizza cart when you can. I loved the style of the pizza and the Stromboli was great too. I grew up in the NY/NJ and this pizza really reminds of the solid NJ pizza I grew up with, plus I am a nerd who plays MTG and DnD so I dig the style. Bottom line, pizza and flavors were really good.

Yelp
Get The Bard!!! Holy smokes Calabrian chili cream sauce?! All the ingredients are so quality - the sausage was zesty and cooked perfectly. And the dough is nice and chewy yet crisp. I did the stromboli but gonna try a pie next time. This place is great.

Yelp
We LOVE this place! Great crust, great ingredients, awesome staff and no flop! No surprise considering it's the sister cart to Paladin!

Yelp
Best crust in town. I ate nearly an entire 'Beholder' pie all to myself. The covered and encased patio is great during this cold weather. Very friendly and considerate staff.

Yelp
Worst pizza I've had in years! We paid $27 for a pizza with tiny pepperonis on it, barely any sauce! The crust was burned and didn't have a good flavor! Please improve your pizza! We asked for Ranch and were told it was homemade! It was also disgusting! Not recommending this place at all!!!
