Tavern dishing up traditional Korean bar fare, including sandwiches & chicken wings until late.
"LA’s famous OB Bear, a legendary late night bar and restaurant that has served Koreatown for decades, was heavily damaged from a fire over the weekend. Despite the extensive damage, the Lee family is hopeful that they can reopen in the space, though OB Bear will be closed until further notice. OB Bear first opened in 1988 by Jason and Hee Soo Lee, who established the popular Koreatown bar as one of LA’s best Korean-style suljips. The bar was known among sports fans and late night owls for its stellar food — especially its spicy chicken wings." - Matthew Kang
"Koreatown beer and wing staple OB Bear is closed for now, owing to a terrible fire at the property. Ownership plans to reopen, but can’t say when." - Matthew Kang
"OB Bear’s chicken wings continue to be a source of comfort in uncertain times. Don’t sleep on their great pajeon and pan fried spicy octopus, the latter which comes with a bed of noodles for mixing." - Euno Lee
"Named after a Seoul-based professional baseball team that was once sponsored by Oriental Brewery (OB), OB Bear is a festive pub that’s perfect for big groups with even bigger appetites. A soft spot for Korean grub paired with light beer is also a requirement. After ordering a pitcher or two of OB or Hite, settle into a platter of the spicy chicken wings. Twice-fried and lacquered in a sweet chili sauce, the wings bring on a sensational and addictive burn. A pub grub feast would not be complete without a plate of dukboki, Korean rice cakes with zucchini, onions, and fried fish cakes in a wildly spicy sauce." - Eater Staff
"OB Bear has some of the best bar food in Koreatown, and the crowds to match. On a Friday night, expect lines from 7pm on, but it’s worth waiting for two things: the chicken wings and the seafood pancake. The wings have a satisfying crunch, while the pancake is the size of your head, and is actually two thick pieces stacked on top of each other. If you’re looking for a larger meal, the whole fried chicken is a good bet - it’s not breaded, it’s just crispy and has a ton of flavor. Add in a few pitchers of Hite, and you can spend an entire night here." - Brett Keating
