Ocean Malasada Company - Review - Embarcadero - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"This Hawaiian Ferry Building stand, an offshoot of the original Ocean Ave. spot in Ingleside, specializes in malasadas. The sugar-dusted doughnuts—popular in Hawaii but originally from Portugal—are hit or miss. Sometimes they’re fluffy enough to double as a child’s stuffed animal and other times they’re dry and taste like oil. The fillings, like the tangy lilikoi and the Nutella, are usually solid. But you might find yourself hunting for any potential hidden reservoirs in the dough. We wouldn’t rush to try Ocean, but as one of few doughnut places in the area, it’s a fine option if you have a craving. Flavors change regularly, and you can buy malasadas individually or in a four-pack." - Patrick Wong

San Francisco’s New Restaurant Openings

"Ocean Malasada Company is serving fluffy Hawaiian-style donuts in the Ferry Building with fillings like Nutella, lilikoi, guava, and ube. Pre-order online or stop by their stand in the morning. (But get there early—they've been selling out quickly.)" - ricky rodriguez, julia chen 1

Ocean Malasada: Sugar-Dusted Malasadas Are the Next Big Ferry Building Treat - Eater SF

"Ocean Malasada is opening a new kiosk at the Ferry Building, offering Hawaiian-style malasadas with various flavors such as ube, passionfruit, guava, and coconut pudding. The business, started by Randy Santos and his wife Dee Santos in 2016, has grown through pop-ups and events, and despite setbacks during the pandemic, continued to innovate with curbside pickup and take-home kits. Their new location will operate from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday." - Dianne de Guzman

Holy cow we got two of these today and 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 AMAZING!!! And definitely unique from the ones I’ve had in Hawaii and the Bay Area. They were sold out of lilikoi so I got mango… the filling is like a fluffy cheesecake mango flavor. So good and not overly sweet. My dining partner got Nutella and it wasn’t straight up Nutella it was fluffy deliciousness. We will be back!!

Delicious and great service! I had the guava malasada and the ratio of the filling and the dough was perfect

The lilikoi MALASADA was a perfect balance between the sweetness of the pastry and the tartness of the filling. One of the best filled donuts I’ve had! The owner was also really nice.

I was not expecting to have one of the best pastries I’ve ever have today, but I was pleasantly surprised, I got passion fruit one and it had the perfect balance, not overly sweet, amazing dough. Now this is a must for every time we come to Ferry building.

New malasada spot across next to Gott's inside the Ferry Building. My friend and I were excited to try after our morning run. Lilikoi is one of their most popular flavors and only sold until 10 am. She tried the lilikoi flavor and mentioned that it was too sour. I liked the guava malasada - it had a nice fruity taste without being overly sweet. I just wish it had more filling and was served warm. I’ll come back to check out their other flavors though

My family and I were so excited to taste their haupia, even though they were pricey. It was sour!! They may have been either old or they mixed the coconut with sour cream. If it was old, they should've never served it and threw it away. VERY Disappointed

I miss Polish pączki and this is just like a pączek - just different fillings.

Not great. Chewy and a little greasy without much filling, and at 5 bucks not with the calories.
