NYC New Restaurant Openings, November 2025 | Eater NY

"A retro-futurist cocktail bar that leans into “odd couples” — unexpected, contrasting ingredients brought into harmony — with drinks like a daiquiri made with blueberry, ricotta whey, and horseradish distillate; the spirits skew funky and, when possible, local, including a sunchoke spirit from Matchbook Distilling, in the former Hi-Note space." - Tierney Plumb

Oddball - Review - East Village - New York - The Infatuation

"Oddball replacesHi-Note, the East Village coffee shop and bar that also hosted its own radio station. The new retro-futuristic cocktail bar has drinks made by some people who worked atSmithereensandMaison Première." - Will Hartman

With some of the most creative cocktails in nyc in a newly designed space, oddball (formerly hi-note) is a delight from the moment you step in the door. The design details of the space are thoughtful, invoking the comfort and nostalgia of diner culture and 70s vibes, while the bar takes you into the future; allowing you to be dazzled yet feel well taken care of. The cocktails themselves are truly inventive, playing with your perception of what flavors can be and where they can come from, with bartenders that are highly knowledgeable and passionate about mixology. My (current) faves are the space cadet and pseudo-banana! The food program is a great new addition to the space, with fresh takes on bar food (like the scalloped potatoes with mole gravy!!!). Cocktail lovers (and really anyone who loves a great vibe) should definitely check it out!

A really standout cocktail bar with insanely unique drinks. Don’t sleep on the food too…the congee hits different!!! The vibe of the place is just right too, upscale but not pretentious. Can’t wait to come back

Fantastic staff presence. Plenty of hands to ensure quick service but they left my party to handle our own night. The cocktails were insanely inventive and fun. Personally loved the colors and shapes in the space. Will be back!

What a fantastic addition to the neighborhood! Truly unique cocktails (and well priced!), delicious food, and one of the most friendly and attentive teams I have ever seen in action. Do NOT miss the papas and rice & beans congee for snacks, and you honestly can't miss on the entire cocktail menu!
