The Best London Restaurants With Their Own Delivery Service - Eater London

"Although restaurants were temporarily given the go ahead to re-open last July, Old Chang Kee weren’t quite ready to re-open. Hoping to keep its staff and customers safe, the Singaporean snack chain’s two central London sites have instead operated on a delivery-only basis, in addition to selling frozen goods on their website. Old Chang Kee’s famous curry puffs are amongst the available dishes, simple to heat-up at home, with buttery pastry encasing fillings such as beef rendang with potatoes; chicken curry concealing an unexpected, welcome wedge of boiled egg; and a vegetarian version of the chicken signature." - Jonathan Hatchman

I like this type of atmosphere. Simple and yet comfortable. Place is clean. Staff was nice, friendly and patient. Food tastes great. Initially we didn't buy the curry puffs but after the lovely meal we said let's go for it. It was a good choice. Definitely will be back for the food and puffs. Recommended.

They have one of the most friendly servers! so nice and helpful when I hesitated among dishes to choose… 1️⃣ puffs: definitely recommend the chicken & potato puff! Also tried the sardine puff 🐟 that is more on the spicy side side and interesting~ but if your not a fish person, go with the CHICKEN or BEEF 💯 2️⃣ rendang chicken:three big pieces of chicken thighs(I think?) in a thick rendang-curry sauce. First it tastes lemony, and then richer and richer~ can finish a whole bowl of rice :) 🍚 3️⃣ laksa: they have 2 types of laksa — classic soup or stir-fried. Soup is as dense as it should be, with bean puffs and prawns, YUMMM 🍜 4️⃣milo (hot/cold): the hot milo is a perfect drink for winter!!! It’s basically a Singaporean version of ovaltine, happy chocolate flavour 🍫🥛 and again, I love the waiters here. They make the whole experience so much better~

The food is amazing here! The quality of the food is fresh and tasty. I ordered the beef stew with rice and a chicken with egg curry puff. The main meals at this place is fairly overpriced and the portions are quite small but deffo worth a try. I’ve been here many times just for the chicken and egg curry puffs as they’re my favourite thing on the menu! Highly recommended. This location doesn’t have much seating, you’ll be lucky to find seating if going around lunch time as all the restaurants around this area are generally full!

Wanted to try the chickens OKC puff pastry but they were out and it was a half hour wait so I tried the chicken curry and the egg chicken. They are quite similar apart from the egg. I think I prefer the egg one simply because you get more protein in it but the other was more flavourful but had too much potato for my liking. The pastry was light and buttery. I got the two for £7.50. I think I’ll be back to try the OKC next time.

Went there for lunch today. Ordered the dry chicken curry and rice with classic curry chicken and egg puff. All items were really tasty. Spicy too! Could only finish half of the mains as the puff was quite filling. Jasmine rice was a bit dry. Around 24 seats inside if you decide to eat in. Looking forward to try the fry laksa. Recommended. Vegan options too.

Ordered a Beef Rendang to takeaway for lunch. The meat was very chewy and lacked flavour. I was very disappointed with the portions too. There were maybe six chunks of beef and there was more way more rice than meat (see picture). Would not recommend.

Tried the chicken rendang, laksa, chicken curry and nasi lemak. They are okay in my opinion but they are not up to my standard as how good malaysian food is supposed to be. Therefore, this is not a place to go for malaysian food. Maybe because i got them to go? I will try go back and try eating in store maybe i would get different result. Will change the review in the future. As of now, this is not recommended for malaysian food.
