"Perhaps the most-anticipated Wilmington restaurant opening of the year, Olivero represents chef Sunny Gerhart’s ode to his family’s culinary history and his love for the beach. With co-chef Lauren Krall Ivey in the kitchen with him, the pair are churning out incredible homemade pastas and a bevy of grilled items fired right on the wood-burning grill in the open kitchen. Menu highlights include the beignets with mortadella, a lasagna made with an octopus bolognese sauce, and the grilled North Carolina fish with flageolet beans, a charred pepper sofrito, coriander, and sesame. There isn’t a bad seat in the house, though the expansive bar might be the place to be for its take on a classic martini (with Spanish sherry) and a bowl of warm dates with nduja." - Matt Lardie

Absolutely incredible experience! All the ingredients in every dish were thought out and worked harmoniously together. These chefs have major skill and talent. Atmosphere was elegant and comfortable all at once. Mallory was an added joy to our experience making sure we had everything we needed, while providing an authentic warm presence to laugh with. Hands down one of the best meals my family and I have ever had!

My wife and I have been many times. Every time it is exceptional! Every drink to every dish! Last night we sat at the bar with Roy and the treatment was 15/10. Very much enjoy every meal we have at Olivero.

This experience was fantastic! The food was incredible, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the seating was comfortable and spacious. We had a great view of the kitchen, which was a huge plus. It was so cool to watch the chefs cook!

Absolutely fantastic Restuarant that was highly recommended to us while we were visiting here for an extended stay from another state. Staff and food was fantastic and we met some really nice people who live here in Wilmington. Great place highly recommended.

My husband and I had a night date there, everything was amazing, food was delicious, atmosphere was cozy and service was 5 stars. We truly enjoyed our time there and we highly recommend to go there. The money that you spend it is well spend and you won’t regret. We order girl of Ipanema to drink, and the mortadella appetiser was another level, I got the fish with mussels and it was delicious and we finished with the chocolate and mash mellow desert!!

Olivero Wilmington is easily our new favorite spot. The homemade pasta was unlike anything we’ve had before—fresh, perfectly cooked, and paired with flavors that were unexpected but worked together beautifully. Every dish was impressive. The service was just as outstanding. The team worked seamlessly, bringing fresh plates and silverware after every course and keeping the table spotless. No awkward moments of figuring out where to put your utensils—just smooth, attentive service that made the whole experience feel effortless. Incredible food, impeccable service—Olivero sets the bar high. We’ll definitely be back often!

There’s nothing like an impromptu dinner that makes you commit to coming back for more! Such was my experience during my first visit to Oliver! It was an ordinary Thursday, just after a light rain and I was hungry. I had been on a walk and spotted Olivero after passing by dozens of times. Upon walking in, I immediately felt a bit odd as I was severely under dressed. The place was quaint, jazzy, with an elegance appeal. I decided to dine at the bar but ended up at the grill area. I appreciated the enthusiasm of the waitress and greeters. It was genuine with a southern flair of ready to serve. My first, and only, drink was a cocktail! Before sipping, I eyed it suspiciously because of the huge ice chunks. However, I was pleasantly surprised because it was strong as ever and remained that way until I finished it. I can’t say enough about my waitress. She was attentive, thoughtful, and very professional. I ordered a 4-course meal including dessert! I was very joyful after the first bite of the crab appetizer. Oh my! These light weight balls filled with crab and cheese made my toes curl. I was dining alone and was happy I didn’t have to share. Next was the beets salad. It looked too pretty to eat. I was so full from the drink and appetizer at this point that I could only taste a few bites and let me just say “Wow”!!! My waitress noticed I was struggling to finish, and graciously packaged it to go. Next up, the fish entree! Man it melted in my mouth. I gobbled down this dish as the fusion of flavors tantalized my tongue. I was already full at the first bite but decided I must have dessert. So after a few bites, it too was packaged to go. My last course was a peach cream cheese dessert. Yes, two bites and it too was packaged to go. All I can say about this is YUMMY, Yummy, YUMMY!!!! So as I finish up this review, a day after my Olivero encounter, I am heading to those packages! So happy to have visited this establishment! Everything was on point and to perfection!

How lucky we are in Wilmington NC to have another James Beard finalist in our midst. Everything was wonderful, from the moment I stepped in. The warmth and conviviality makes this a natural meeting place. I love the open kitchen and watching the expert team at work. Chefs Gerhard and Ivey have outdone themselves bringing this gem to our historic downtown. Can't wait to see what they do next.

Yelp
Fantastic! This place was much more than a pleasant surprise. What a colorful, flavorful, inventive menu. We shared so many plates. The cocktails are creative and the wine was delish! It was perfect for our girls night out. Our server was super friendly and gave excellent tips on how to make our dining experience even that much more enjoyable. The restaurant also has a vibe! The colors the art the open kitchen the bar.... All flowed so perfectly. Bathrooms super clean and stocked. Highly recommend this gem of a spot whether you are going on a date or out with the gang!!

Yelp
I came in for dinner on my first day in Wilmington. The inviting, warm and cozy ambiance set the tone on a pleasant meal. My friend and I sat at the bar as we didn't have reservation. The bartender made delicious cocktails, he was very friendly and gave us great recommendations on the menu. The two of us got Mini Baguette w/ Anchovy Hummus Spread (pretty good), Grilled Octopus which was very tasty and tender, the flavorful Baharat Spiced Crispy Cauliflower was my favorite. For protein we got Musdakhan Grilled Chicken and Grilled NC Fish. Food is delicious and in good portion. We probably went a little overboard as we have leftover food and didn't get to try their desserts!

Yelp
We've dined at Olivero 6 or 7 times, and given we're a block away, we're delighted to have in the neighborhood what has become our favorite Wilmington restaurant. The room is beautiful, the booths are comfortable, the tables for two that can be pushed together for a table for 10 are a bit small and, for 2-tops all in a row, perhaps a bit too close to tables left and right. The menu changes monthly, the kitchen is imaginative and consistently creates splendid new offerings, the service is impeccable, the bar well stocked, and the menus, from apps to mains and delicious desserts, have been, for us, spectacular. For apps, don't miss the fried cauliflower while it's still on the menu: it's is off-the-charts delicious. And for pasta dishes, it's a home run every time (although I wish they'd reinstate the octopus lasagna, perhaps the best pasta dish I've ever eaten in my many years of dining out). The wines-by-the-glass list is only okay--full bottles range from $100 and up, which is territory we've generally avoided. (Wondering if we can bring a higher-end bottle and pay a corkage fee. We haven't asked about that.) Plan well. It's a popular place. If the tables are all taken and/or reserved, bar seating and the chef's table are available for walk-ins. We've sat everywhere. And we're just happy to have Olivera right around the bend.

Yelp
Olivero is my new fav. So far have gone for dinner twice and both times sat at the bar, which is a little cramped but still a pleasant experience. The menu changes according to what's fresh/seasonal and literally everything I've had here is phenomenal. The first time I had a pasta entree and *chef's kiss* freshly made pasta is delicious, and just chews better and hangs onto the sauce and just get it - thank me later. The last time, we got this heirloom tomato salad and it was so fresh and beautiful. Cocktail menu is full of solid bevvies to enjoy with your meal. All around, this is one of Wilmington's most solid restaurants, hands down.

Yelp
Olivero - your soon to be favorite pasta joint. Do you ever have a meal or dish sitting in front of you that is so delicious & you can't stop yourself from eating *just one more bite? When we walked into Olivero in Wilmington, and sat down at the chefs table, it only took a few minutes to admire their operation and structure. We instantly knew we were in for a treat. The balance of acid, salt, and fat in each bite was expertly crafted. Nothing was over done and every ingredient had a job to accomplish (which are my favorite types of dishes). Simple, yet complex. These pictures & words don't do these dishes nearly enough justice. Chef Sunny, thank you for sharing your passion with NC. *| BEIGNET MORTADELLA, FONTINA FONDUTA, CALABRIAN HOT HONEY *| FALL SQUASH AGRODOLCE CHARRED GREEN BEANS, ANCHOVY, RICOTTA, CRISPY FINGERLINGS *| MAFALDINE NC CRAB, KING TRUMPET & MAITAKE MUSHROOMS, MANCHEGO *| RIBEYE NEW POTATOES, ESPELLETE AIOLI, ROASTED TOMATO, CHIMICHURRI

Yelp
Super groovy little spot in Wilmington! Service, atmosphere and food quality were exceptional! Wilmington needs more spots like this! Well done Olivero!

Yelp
I'd been looking forward to trying this place out since they opened and finally had an opportunity on a Friday night. For drinks, they have a vermouth and a sherry menu which was kind of interesting. Per our server's suggestion, my husband tried a glass of each. I'm not typically a fan of either, but my he enjoyed mixing it up. I stuck with a cocktail and a glass of wine. As others have noted, the wine list is rather disappointing. For starters, we tried the croquettes and Brussels sprouts. Both were great! Next, the crab pasta and the fennel sausage pasta - again, both were really good. Finally we ended with the basque cheesecake. Huge fan of the cookie butter on there! The ambiance was a little weird - the restaurant gives off a very casual vibe with the decor, servers wearing t shirts, and very casual diners, but then has more formal touches like fully setting and clearing the table for each course, toothpicks and mints in the restrooms, etc. It felt a little disjointed. That said, I'd definitely return!

Yelp
A welcome addition of fine dining to the Castle street district.are a 5pm reservation and was the first to be seated. Was definitely nice to get in before the crowd. Ordered a couple of drink and three apple. We got the Warm dates, Croquets and Beignets. The date have the perfect balance of salty and sweet. All the apps had a good balance and are definitely more than just art in a plates. Dinner I ended going with the Lasagna made with octopus bolognese and chorizo which I really enjoyed. Only think the might have made it better would have need some type of bread but I'm a carb addict. Ended with the blueberry cheese cake was was absolutely perfect. The cracked salt on the plate set it over the edge. Kudos the the chef for really nailing balance in the dishes.

Yelp
Made reservations online and showed up 15 minutes prior. They have their own small parking lot and one handicap spot, which is on the right side of the restaurant when you're facing it on third Street. If the parking lot is full, you can find free street parking around the area, which might be hard to find. Currently no sign on storefront. It's at the corner of third Street and Castle Street. No outdoor seating. We were going to be seated by the wall, but they let us sit in the booth in the back at our request. No high chairs are available but they let us use our booster seat on one of their chairs for our 14 month old. All of the food was overall great, interesting ingredients and flavors. Definitely order one of the pasta dishes as they make the pasta from scratch. My favorite dishes were the beignet and crab Malfadine.pasta dish. The appetizers came pretty quickly but the entrees took a little bit longer. We started off with the beignet and beets. Both were fabulous. The beignet and beet dishes had the right amount of sweetness, not too sweet. I loved the touch of Calabrian hot honey (way better than Mike's hot honey) with the creamy fontina fonduta and the thinly sliced mortadella meat with the beignets. Also loved all of the ingredients of the beets appetizer. The dates appetizer sounded interesting, stuffed with pork belly. May try that next time. For the entrees had Malfadine, grilled NC fish, and ribeye. Malfadine was delicious. The fish of the day was red snapper, which didn't taste that great to me, seemed a little undercooked. On a positive note, I liked the charred okra and tomato and grilled watermelon gazpacho that came with it. My partner asked for a medium ribeye, but it was over cooked. They replaced the dish, which was a lot better, but still not exactly medium. Hopefully that will improve, but to be on the safe side will skip ribeye next time! For dessert we had the basque cheesecake, and Videri chocolate Budino. The basque cheesecake is better than the American cheesecake, lighter and fluffier. It paired well with the puréed smoked blueberries. The budino was so decadent with the toasted marshmallow and crunchy toffee bits. If you want coffee to go with dessert, they only had drip coffee. Also had Demerara sugar and creamer to go with the coffee. For wines, we tried the red wines: schiava, Syrah/Nero D' Avola and Tempranillo. My partner liked the Syrah the most, more fruity and not as spicy. You can tell they put a lot of detail in the design and decor all the way to the silverware. Bathrooms were cool with the fish wallpaper. I like the touches of mint candies, lobster flossers and mini tampons in the bathrooms. Our waitress Phoebe was awesome. This tops one of the best restaurants in Wilmington!

Yelp
We dined earlier this week w another couple and most of the dishes were excellent w the exception of the tortellini that was priced at almost $40 for about 8 pieces of pasta. We were advised in advance that the dish was skimpy but this was ridiculous . Another objection and this is major, the ambient noise level makes any attempt at conversation during dinner impossible. It's great to see that the restaurant is doing well but this issue must be addressed if it is to have continued success

Audra S.

Yelp
This place is a gem. Super retro decor vibes, every dish was phenomenal and my waiter recommended an excellent wine pairing.

Beth S.

Yelp
First things first. Order the cauliflower appetizer; maybe 2. This dish is inspired. Oh my! We were not impressed with octopus. It is much better grilled. And order a signature cocktail. They are all delish. Friends enjoyed campanelle and spaghetti. If I return, I will order the campanelle. I ordered the NC fish which was sheeps head, a moist fish. It was OK. The staff knows these dishes and it's refreshing to have such knowledgeable servers. The environment is noisy, but booths help. They need some rugs, and the room was quite cool. Bring a wrap. You can bring your own wine; corkage fee is $25.

Frank M.

Yelp
Excellent cuisine and service. The menu offers flavorful and interesting dishes. Accompanied by a great selection of wines that again are different from the typical. It is no longer a secret, so make your plans well in advance.

Rich C.

Yelp
When I got home I had to have dinner again. It seemed like there was a lot of hype around Olivero and that was confirmed by the challenge of getting a reservation. We finally got one and went with friends and across the board we were like "meh." The "shareables" were hardly shareable. The portions were tiny, but expensive. The meals were ok - nothing crazy. Drenched in olive oil. As a matter of fact basically everything we had was soaked. Cheesecake dessert was very good. Our server was excellent and accommodating to our friends gluten allergy. Deeply appreciated that. Bus boy was very on the spot as well. Great work there. The vibe itself was .. I don't know ... normal? Not very unique or special. Overall this is a one and done unfortunately. It came out to about $60 / person not including the one alcoholic drink which is absolutely insane. For that price - I should never leave hungry or the food should be just so next level that I'm leaving a 5 star review.

Aimee N.

Yelp
Everything about this restaurant is spot on. The service, ambiance, food, drinks, etc. they have a parking lot beside the restaurant and it's alittle hard to find. But, once you get in you are transformed into an Italian oasis. Our server was great! Absolutely great! I could tell that she loves working there. We started with a few signature drinks and they were excellent. We also had the beignets and I was surprised how much I loved them. I had the spaghetti and she had the malfadine. Both had flavors that just ended so well together. We were so full that we only ate half of the meal. I highly recommend this place for a date or for a fun girls night. I think this is the best Italian in town.

Valerie D.

Yelp
First time here, and I thought it was a pretty place and the food was delicious. I will say that I am.so.glad we did not get seated right outside the bathrooms or the table that is right in front of the door. If we had, I would have left. Service was spot on and our waitress was wonderful.

Lisa B.

Yelp
Wonderful experience. Creative and thoughtful dishes. Perfect execution. Highly recommend. What a joy!

Yelp
Wonderful service well trained staff. Amazing food. A must go place All good for any event

Chris L.

Yelp
Food is delicious. Wide range of excellent choices. Cocktails are superb and the staff is excellent. They know their menus and are accommodating to any special requests! Wine list has something for everyone's taste! AND then there's the desserts! Need I say more! Almost want to keep Olivero's my special secret but I know I have to share the goodness! Enjoy!

Diane W.

Yelp
This was my first visit- dear friends made reservation. The space is welcoming- reservations required for all but those happy to chance bar seat dining. The menu offers limited but intriguing options for those seeking hand crafted, seasonal, locally sourced Italian cuisine. Dedication to quality and passion for the Culinary Arts is evident. Those sentiments are sometimes attached to a an attempt to educate a bumbling cast of guests who opt to know better about what they should like. Not so here. Passion meets desire to delight. Happy are we! This naturally extends to the knowledgeable staff- purveyors of information, observer's of timing- askers of questions to discover preferences. Our team? Welcome without startling conversations. Whisking away unnecessary items, refilling beverages- pleasing companions to our delightful experience. Suggestions? Tempted without leaving towards pressure of even- (a hint that they're selling something that's going out of date). I felt a certainty that my front server was team guest. My choices: App: octopus Next: Cauliflower Main: Spaghetti with Mussels and Clams Desert w/ multiple spoons: Flan Each dish was utterly delicious Preparation- marriage of ingredients, flavor punch, freshness, originality Octopus was tender- possibly two could share if getting multiple small plates I'm a big fan and have prepared myself and eaten grilled, slow cooked and stewed. This was a delicious take Cauliflower was - imho- for two to share- a delicious amalgamation of flavors- touch of hot peppers, spiked with vinegar capers and green olives with a garlic sauce? Lightly flash fried? Perfect (I will reheat my leftovers in air fryer- squeezing some lemon juice and adding more green olives) Spaghetti mussels/ clams The spaghetti is house made and abundant- utterly. There's ample- sans shells clams and mussels along with the delicious sauce, greens and anchovy bread crumbs (yummy) I suspect I ate less than 1/2 despite my adoration Please? Take me home tonight? Cue to the flan with spoons for each of us. Was our staff person an evil temptress? Or- did she know exactly what we wanted? The latter. I'm thinking I might splash clam juice, butter, olive oil, lemon juice or all on my pasta when reheating Parmesan? Naturally I'm thinking about when I will next return Excellent food Comfortable ambiance Skillful staff with excellent knowledge What's not to like? Traditional offerings- you might be disappointed Extensive menu- see above Delicious, chef driven, locally sourced, authentically inspired Italian - Bingo- Winner

Steven R.

Yelp
The service could not have been more attentive even though I was dining alone. It wasn't intrusive and I enjoyed the entire experience. If it's on the menu get the crab arancini. Fantastic restaurant hands down.

Sarah B.

Yelp
EXCELLENT dinner at Olivero. Went on a Saturday and it was packed. We had a Reservation and were seated immediately. For our meal, we had small plate (beignets), salads (beet salad and the Brussels), entrees (pork shoulder and the spaghetti with zucchini, basil and burrata) and dessert (cookie butter caramel cheesecake). Everything was a 10/10 for me (I'm seriously going to dream about the beignets and the spaghetti!). Service was great and they timed every course perfectly. Cocktails were good (asked for a specific drink not on the menu- they gave me something similarish). Highly recommend!!

Anna D.

Yelp
Walking in on a Friday night at 6:00 and almost every table was full. This was a good sign to see Wilmington supporting a new place so I was excited to taste the food. I sat at the bar waiting for my date and ordered a cocktail. the service was fast and friendly. The cocktail was delicious, I love a bar that has egg white drinks on the menu. The music was enthusiastic yet romantic. Once I got seated my new waiter was just as friendly as the last one. They recommended more of the pasta dishes but seeing it's made fresh in house I understand why. A few of the appetizers were small and fast to eat but they were full of flavor. The ingredients were all so savory. The pasta dishes we tried were buttery and tasted like "home". I'm looking forward to trying meat dishes next time. While we ate, the staff filled our drinks anticipated new drinks before we got close to finishing ours, which is great service. I enjoyed the cheesecake and panna cotta for dessert. Can't wait to come back!

Joy T.

Yelp
Thoughtfully conceived menu items and excellently executed meal. Plate-ing was on point and we loved every item we ordered. Our favorites were the warmed dates, beet salad, Octopus lasagna and the most perfect bowl of spaghetti you've ever eaten. Loved the cocktail selection ( the Olivera martini was fabulous!!) along with the wine selection. Service was great, present enough without being overbearing. The food runner was just as great. We loved watching the cooks make the magic happen in the open kitchen. Parking was the only challenge but the parking lot is well lit and just as beautiful as the interior of the restaurant. We will go back and share what a special meal we had!!

Tom O.

Yelp
Best food in Wilmington. Highly recommend this spot. Their pasta is incredible, as is their steak. 10/10 would go again.

Li-Shing W.

Yelp
This was the third time we dined here. A little bit disappointed this time. Drinks did not arrive until we almost finished the appetizers. Salad was nice. But it took a while for main course to come and tasted salty.

Ken And Karen M.

Yelp
True gourmet experience with amazing perfection in the blend of spices and flavors! The dinners were so delicious with a WOW at the end with dessert!! Sleek table setting with romantic lighting with nice music!

Sherry P.

Yelp
There was not a thing we would do different. Appetizers, drinks, salad and meal was delightful. We each had different entrees and said we would order again. Don't let the Octopus Lasagna scare you as it was not heavy, the taste was rich and perfectly done. Pork shoulder, Chicken Milanese and Mafaldine were the other entrees and just as delightful. The beet salad was outstanding. Cocktails were delightful. The Dates are a must order. Service was great and overall a 5 star experience. Make a reservation and enjoy.

Glen M.

Yelp
We sent this review directly to the restaurant hoping to hear back from them and with no response we thought we would share this review with others. We had been looking forward to trying out this Olivero's for some time and made a reservation last night. Upon arrival, we were seated at a table located in a hallway, about 5 feet from the restroom. Although there were other tables available in more desirable locations throughout the restaurant, they remained unoccupied during our visit. Our waiter started off well by inquiring if it was our first visit and providing menu explanations and recommendations. The drinks suggested were enjoyable, and the octopus appetizer was decent, though not exceptional. Unfortunately, the experience took a downturn with the main courses. My wife's pasta dish, featuring handmade pasta, did not meet her expectations in terms of flavor and execution. I ordered the ribeye, which arrived after a 30-minute wait, which we thought was a bit long. Regrettably, the steak lacked the characteristic marbling and tenderness expected of a ribeye. Additionally, it seemed to lack flavor and was slightly tough. Our disappointment was further compounded by the fact that the waiter did not check back after serving our meals. When it came time to settle the bill we informed him of our disappointment with the steak and he apologized and dropped off the check. Upon exiting, I took the opportunity to speak with a manager. While he expressed regret over our experience, he mentioned that he would have appreciated feedback sooner. Overall, while we enjoy supporting local restaurants, this particular experience left us feeling underwhelmed. Despite paying $180 for the evening, the quality of the food did not meet our expectations. We hope that our feedback can be taken constructively to improve the overall dining experience for future patrons.

Yelp
This place is awesome! Saw Olivero on social media & knew I had to try! Was confused by the parking but finally figure it out, there isn't a sign up so it can be hard to spot! I did make a reservation and it went very smoothly! The drinks were 10/10, yes they are fufu and filled with ice but very good! I saw a lot of complaints about the wine - but you will definitely want to have a cocktail here! The food was amazing! We had a vegetarian dining with us and our server made it so that we could share a dish. The server was very accommodating! We had the Beignets - omg the flavors just melt in your mouth! I had the beet salad - so flavorful! Last but not least had the spaghetti as an entree the burrata just tops it off! The waiter was super polite & super knowledgeable about the menu. I highly recommend Olivero, can't wait to go back!

Robert B.

Yelp
It is nice to see old school service. But the food is way too salty. The tortelloni and the moussakhen were so salty I was grabbing for my water. And by the way, the whole point of moussakhen is sumac, not char. The dates were nice and smoky. The beignet/mortadella thing: some ideas work theoretically on paper but are underwhelming in reality. Just a pile of Harris Teeter mortadella on a very bland (barely hot hot honey for example) sauce base. What took the cake: if you're going to use za'atar, learn how to use it. The beets had so much za'atar the salt almost made me keel over. It's not za'atar encrusted beets. On top of that, straight salty unimaginative out of the supermarket feta. At least give me goat cheese. Chef knows what is supposed to work in theory and sounds great and on paper (checks all the boxes of salt fat acid, texture, etc.,) but it just doesn't translate. Too much hype, big let down, would not go back. So: Less Za'atar on the beet thing. And replace straight from the box feta with something better: whip it, maybe? More cucumber, more brightness. Dates: good enough, $9. Also the bruschetta-like thing: 3 little slices?! Cheese goop: I get what you're going for, but it was not viscous, just watery. It's the same old story: taste the food before it goes out!

Michael P.

Yelp
The best restaurant I've eaten at in awhile! We are visiting from out of town and decided to try Olivero based on the Eater review. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but inside the decor and vibe was great. From our first contact with the hostess everyone was welcoming and professional. Our server Phoebe was very helpful and engaging. Then the food came and we were blown away. Our party shared everything, just wish we had more in our party so we could try everything on the menu. The octopus appetizer, crispy cauliflower, NC fish and twice cooked pork were our favorites. We then shared the Basque cheesecake and chocolate Budino, both awesome. I've had the cheesecake in San Sebastián and this was comparable. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
There's a new kid in town, and it goes by the name of Olivero, nestled on the corner of 3rd and chestnut within an unassuming brick building. Inside, I was struck by the inviting yet contemporary ambiance. Adorned with rustic brick walls (a personal favorite of mine), rich wooden black beams, and an open kitchen with cozy bar seating, Olivero exudes a welcoming charm that set the stage for our memorable dining experience. We started off with cocktails, and for this girl the 'Girl from Ipanema'' was a revelation. Presented exquisitely, it was a harmonious blend of vodka, manzilla, strawberry, cucumber, and lemon. The appetizers stole the spotlight! We decided on the warm dates, which we found to be addictive, the croquetas, which packed just the right amount of spice and crunch, a savory beignet, dressed with mortadella, fontina, and Calabrian hot honey. Yum! And then there was the ever popular beet salad, which was a masterpiece of combining fresh, seasonal ingredients. For our main courses, I decided on the campanelle, which showed promise but erred on the side of being a tad dry. Meanwhile, my husbands choice of spaghetti proved to be a wise one, as was the snapper and pork shoulder which while flavorful was a tad too fatty. But we didn't stop there folks! On to dessert, and wow! The marshmallow dessert is one of the best bites I've ever experienced. The char was perfection and added a delightful complexity of flavor while maintaining a remarkable lightness. Our taste buds were left singing with satisfaction as we savored the sweet conclusion to a wonderful dining experience! Service did not disappoint! Greer's expertise, professionalism, and warm demeanor greatly enhanced our experience. Props to the chef/owner of this new establishment! I for one am SO glad you're here!

I was not impressed by this restaurant. The GM was rude and the hospitality was lost. However, our server was amazing! The food didn't WOW me-cold piece of mortadella on top of a beignet was lacking inspiration. Brussels were either not blanched long enough or weren't balanced at all. The poached shrimp skewer had the smallest shrimp on it! Come on! The twice cooked pork was amazing, the acidity in the sauce was perfect. I think the restaurant lacks a lot. I hope they work it out soon.

Yelp
we waited a long time to get a reservation here. We finally got one at 5 PM for my birthday two days ago. We got there just shortly before five and they wouldn't even let us into the restaurant to sit at the bar and have a drink, we had to wait outside to get in. Everything on the menu is all a cart and is broken into appetizers, salads, pasta courses, and mains. there were three of us and we ordered the smoked eggplant, appetizer the stuffed dates, and the brussels sprouts for the pasta dishes. We ordered their lasagna and their Campanelle. For the main we split the chicken milanese . The dates and eggplant were a knockout. The rest of the selections were what i would call just ok. The Campanella was terrible, so salty we could not eat it. We told them so, but there was no offer to take it off the bill. Sent it back anyway. I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. I really thought it was going to be Fabulous. I will say that our server was adorable and really well informed. The rest of the staff looked like sourpusses. I don't think I'll return. tasted enough of the menu that I don't think it's really worth going back for anything.

Yelp
Limited selections on the menu. Very pricey and small portions especially for an Italian restaurant. Food was delicious but we left hungry.

Yelp
Everything was very disappointing. I have no idea why. I made a reservation at 5. Felt horrible vibes. Asked for the check. No tip. 70 bucks was good enough. From your reviews looks like you need the 70 more than me. Blessing to all the kind local business that are only native ILM owners! I will spending my hard earned money very wisely from now on. Kindness is about the only free thing left in this world.

Yelp
Just went for dinner. The sea bass was very fishy. The pasta was good because it was covered with butter and salt. Salad was white lettuce for $15. No flavor. Came home starving. Won't be back. No flavor. No nutrients. Not worth the drive from Wrightsville Beach. Hostess sat us by the door with a reservation with 45 degree winds. One star for the sweet bartender.

Yelp
First time at this relatively new spot. Nice decor. Very busy snd table we requested sat for quite a time past our reservation time. Nonetheless we had some excellent cocktails while waiting and once seated 30 minutes late the excellent manager brought out three complimentary appetizers. Not necessary but a very classy move. Food and service was exemplary and the dishes were outstanding . Will definitely be back.

Yelp
So worth the wait! I've had the pleasure of eating at St. Roch in Raleigh and knew Olivero would be just as amazing. Not only was the food delicious, but the "Olivero Martini" was top notch. The inside atmosphere is cozy and loved being able to see into the kitchen as dishes cooked and prepped.

Yelp
We were anxiously waiting for Olivero's to open and we were not disappointed in the least. In fact it exceeded our high expectations the decor was beautiful and unique to the area, the sad was unbelievably friendly ace so knowledgeable about the dishes and preparation. The food was outstanding the first course we had Croquetas, Brussels Sprouts, and Beignets. They were so bursting with flavor. Each had a cool twist to them that made them over the top. Main course was even better the Malfadine, NC grilled fish, and Campanelle were so unbelievably tasty and cooked perfectly. This place was outstanding and great for a special night out or anytime you want a great Fiss experience. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Wonderful relatively new restaurant. Service was friendly and attentive. Started with the savory beignets and croquettes, which were outstanding. For the entree, I chose the agnolotti, which was rich and flavored. The place was bustling, but not too loud to hold a conversation. Definitely need reservations. An absolute must to bring out of town company to show off Wilmington cuisine.

Yelp
I have revised my review as my entire experience did not include ambiance, food, quality of service, etc. After all, you don't eat the bathroom door. Having worked at high end restaurants in D.C., I would have given the guest a free drink, or a sample of an entree, something to keep them busy. Dividers are made to block toilets. An additional wine rack may be a solution. I will return eventually, but definitely not Valentine's Day!

Yelp
1st week resto is open and we know the sister resto in Raleigh called St Roch's which is also very good! Food was a definite 5, service is coming up the learning curve in first week of opening, quite a few minor things forgotten and lots of trips back and forth and one red flag needing to be fixed, will discuss at the end. We shared everything starting with eggplant and anchovy app on crusty bread. Put a shiny tasty fresh anchovy on a bed of nails and I am eating, nice flavors. Then we had the roasted dates which were stuffed with nduja sausage, nice spice to go with the sweetness of the dates combined with the savory olive oil and salt on the plate. Next up was a beet salad with grilled peaches, plus wonderful pickled blackberries which was a first, but great and an Italian cheese plus pistachio, flavors worked really well together, may order this side every time we come. We then had the Mafaldine pasta dish with corn, crab, pepper and basil, really well-made and seasoned with just the right restraint to keep the flavor of the perfectly cooked pasta. Almost forgot the cocktails, both were verry fresh and lively with mine the tequila and grapefruit offering and my wife's rum and absinthe "Tres Palmas", really good on a hot summer night. We shared the videri chocolate dessert which was like a mousse with a marshmallow meringue, nice flavor and texture, would have been far too much for one person, we could barely finish with two, but we're old. On to the thing they must fix: there is a wood oven and both of us had showered and changed clothes to go out and smelled like we had been out camping with a wet wood fire next to us and we sat nowhere near the oven. Need to work the ventilation on that one! All in all, very good and unique food, congrats on the opening and we will be back!

Yelp
Thursday night out with the ladies. We tried a brand new restaurant Olivero's, then hit the theater to see Opera House Theater Production of "The Prom". The food at Olivero's was outstanding. We had the stuffed dates, We tried the beets ap and the CROQUETAS appetizer that was our tables favorite. Everything was out of this world. I had never tasted a beet and it was good, but stuffed dates were my personal fav. Very memorable. Then on to dinner. I had the lasagna that had octopus in it and it was delicious. I was very happy with my choice. My friend Martie got the spaghetti, and it had the best flavor. It wasn't at all like regular spaghetti, and Kathy and Ann ordered the same thing, AGNOLOTTI, it was a light dish with skinny lasagna noodles. They loved it. We saved room for dessert! I had a chocolate mouse with crushed toffee and smoked marshmallow on it that was superior, and Ann had something with fruit and the other two ladies tried the homemade cheesecake. Our cocktails were excellent as well. There were a ton of choices but we stuck to only one. This was a great restaurant, the ambiance was great and the food was superior. Be sure to make a reservation so you get the kind of table you want, although there are seeds at the bar and everyone was enjoying that as well. #Oliveros #operahouse #thalianhall

Yelp
Food is great service great but need to add more wines by the bottle ie chianti Cabernet only had one cab bottle offering at 140.00$ per bottle. Corkage fee is 50.00$ which would be fine if they had more of their wine by the bottle to chose from if not need to lower corkage fee

Yelp
Olivero is a fine dining restaurant which specializes in Italian fusion cuisine. Our server who we nicknamed chesty la rue or pierre chest hair was accommodating and efficient but made the experience a little uncomfortable with his open shirt and consistent cough. For starters we had the arancini and smoked eggplant which were tasty. We noticed that there were no small pasta or meatball dishes. I would've loved to have seen some bread and or soup as well but not offered. Everything is a la carte. Our entrees were the mushroom lasagna and the agnolotti. No sides come with the entrees and they are small portions. For dessert we had the cheesecake and panna cotta which was the best part of the meal. We were hungry again after the meal.

Yelp
Outstanding food and service and just a neat place, good parking as well. Will be going back soon.

Yelp
Food, service, ambience was great. We have one recommendation to avoid allergic reaction, time and confusion. Please post on menu (pasta made with almond flour). One person in our group has an almond allergy. IF the menu had referenced the pasta being made with almond flour, we would have immediately known to not choose the pasta options. The server did ask If any allergies when we ordered but he had already chosen pasta not knowing & 10 minutes of time wasted. The menu had some unique options and the food was delicious.
