The Least-Awful Downtown Seattle Bars

"But if the weather’s sh*t, The Fairmont Olympic is a pretty grand place to spend a Saturday night masquerading as a posh guest who definitely has a room upstairs. Skip their underwhelming behind-the-bookcase speakeasy and just grab a barstool at the round counter in the middle of the buzzing action instead. The drinks aren’t just acceptable by hotel cocktail standards—they hold their own, featuring combinations like gin and lillet rose, tequila and chocolate bitters, or cognac and orgeat. Seattle Bars With Sustainable Cocktails | Eater

"The hottest buzz in Downtown Seattle comes from the top of the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, where the honeybees of the on-site apiary are hard at work making a favorite ingredient of Olympic Bar’s chefs and bartenders: the rooftop honey. The bees are part of the restaurant’s Full Circle Soil program, a sustainable ecosystem within the garden that grows ingredients for the kitchen in soil fertilized by compost from the hotel. A syrup made from that rooftop honey is also one of the key ingredients in the Calling Blue cocktail, a cross between a gin and tonic and London Calling made with BOMBAY SAPPHIRE PREMIER CRU, fino sherry, lemon juice, and a spent coffee tincture made from used espresso grounds sourced from the hotel’s coffee bar. The hyper-local ingredients meet regional specialties on the menu in dishes like potted salmon with sweet herb coulis or the Olympic smash burger with Beecher’s cheese and bacon-jalapeño jam."

We visited the Centennial Tea to celebrate a family member visiting, and while we’d been to the secret bar, regular bar, and restaurant at this historic hotel, this was our first time for tea. The real highlight here is definitely the ambiance—the hotel’s century-old charm creates a chic, nostalgic setting that’s wonderful to take in. They’re currently celebrating 100 years, and there was a special tea blend offered for the occasion. I ordered it but later regretted doing so, as they gifted everyone a box of the blend at the end of the service. The food was decent but not especially memorable. The cucumber sandwich was somewhat unbalanced, with the bread overpowering the filling, and though the desserts were fine, the Madeleine was the standout. The egg sandwich was the best of the savory bites; a few others had flavors that felt a bit muddled. Portions were generous—honestly, one tower would have been plenty for my husband and me to share. For those interested, there’s the option to order mimosas or other alcoholic drinks. One minor drawback is the seating. Tea is served in the bar area, where the vintage armchairs, while charming, aren’t particularly comfortable for eating. Larger groups seem to get tables, but if you’re a couple, you might be seated in the corridor with foot traffic passing by. Service was attentive, perhaps a bit overly. Overall, the Centennial Tea is more about soaking in the historic ambiance and enjoying a bit of an "Instagrammable" experience. It’s worth it for the unique setting, even if the food isn’t the main attraction. Good place for girlfriends and family visiting.

The atmosphere was stunning, elegant, and inviting. The food was excellent, service was top-notch—professional, attentive, and seamless. A perfect spot for a drink, a meal, or just to soak in the historic charm. Highly recommend!

Very stylish "old school" bar with cosy sitting, very friendly and efficient service. Had an excellent Smashburger with fries. Recommended

Perfect date night spot. Food was delicious. Drinks were AMAZING. expect to spend a pretty penny. But would 100% return for the atmosphere alone.

Stopped in after a show at the 5th Ave Theater Located in the historic Olympic hotel, this bar is in the main lobby and offers a great atmosphere foe chillimg and socializing. Drinks menu includes signature as well as regular cocktails and appetizers. This was perfect for capping off an evening at the theater and I would definitely recommend a visit

This bar was the perfect spot to relax with great cocktails (the Love Loud was my favorite!). The library provided a cozy more intimate vibe, which I enjoyed as well. The lighting here is perfect. Decor was a great blend of classic elegance and modern luxury. Bartender and servers provide excellent service. Should also check out the speakeasy!

UPDATE! We back and stayed at the Fairmont, and this place was a great pace to grab food and a drink! Always a seat some place, and food was yummy! Get the smash burger! Drinks were even better! At times, especially later in the night, service was questionable, and seemed to take awhile to get our special cocktails! Service was fast for poured wine. Beautiful spacious bar in the lobby of the Fairmont Olympic Hotel! Service was attentive and great, we got served very quickly. All the staff was friendly and helpful! Didn’t get photos of the food but it was allllll good! Full bar with lots of fun cocktails!! Many choices to choose from! Nice menu selection for food! The atmosphere was great and felt fun!!! The bar is beautiful just like the hotel! Parking is self parking lot, or you can valet at the front. Very convenient.

The Fremont is a high-end hotel in the Seattle downtown area. We decided to go have a quick night cap at the bar inside. It was packed and very lively, which was a nice surprise for a Thursday night. They had an event going on in their main event hall. We sat at the bar and got greeted immediately but the service was slow. I understand because it was very busy. We decided to order food and after about 45 minutes we asked where our order was. The server was baffled and couldn’t believe we hadn’t received our food. He checked with the kitchen, and they told him they were out of what we ordered, which was the chicken lollipops. Bad communication on their part. We ordered something else and then it took another 45 minutes to come out. I’m surprised we even stayed that long but we had a lot of fun talking with the other customers. We ordered more drinks to keep us occupied as well and it still took a long time to get our drink. We heard other customers talking about how bad the service was. I think they were really overwhelmed but the servers were still nice and kind. It’s not their fault they didn’t have enough staff on hand. Let’s talk about the food when it finally came out. We ordered the Mediterranean platter and the Smoked Duck Tartine. I don’t have much to write about the Mediterranean plate since it was just hummus with chips basically. Pita bread would’ve been a better compliment. The Duck Tartine was good, but the ricotta overpowered the duck. The duck was great without the ricotta! They ended up comping our food since it took forever which was the right thing to do. Hopefully the management will get more people to staff the bar when they have events on site. The atmosphere here is amazing feels like an old rustic vibe. I’ll be back to give them another shot!

Yelp
My friends and I had a reservation for five people for Afternoon Tea at the Olympic Bar inside the Fairmont Hotel on Sunday at 3PM. We had to change our reservation to 4 people, but that wasn't an issue for staff. We were also late to the reservation since we were having a hard time trying to find somewhere to park in the area, but we called beforehand, and it was not an issue with them. I really appreciate how easy it has been to communicate and work with their staff. There is a limited timeframe they offer Afternoon Tea here: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday served from 1:00PM to 3:00PM on Fridays and from 11:00AM to 3:00PM on the weekend. It is $75 per person. Each person gets their choice of tea, which can be served with sugar and milk. There are some teas they do not recommend adding milk to, but just keep that in mind when selecting which tea you would like. One of my friends did not like her tea as much as she anticipated and asked if it could be exchanged. They did so without hesitation, or extra fee! I got the lychee congou tea, which I have never had before. It was okay, I don't drink tea by itself often, so I didn't know what to really expect. We were served with tea sandwiches and pastries soon after we received our teas. It was a really fun experience since I have never done afternoon tea before! I wouldn't be opposed to coming back!

Yelp
Been to this place for an official meet. The vibe of this place is amazing. My mentor has been in Seattle for a long time and she was mentioning that this place was the original location of University of Washington and now they made this into a hotel and the university expanded in a different location. It was very close to my heart being a UW alumni. The service is amazing. The staff went out of their way to explore different drinks based on my taste and the food was good. I would say that I was more impressed with the vibe of the place, staff and drinks. Food was okay!! Would definitely visit this place again and a perfect place for unofficial meets.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for a light bite after having a beverage at the speakeasy. We were serviced very quickly even though it was a busy night. Our server brought us a small table and we sat at one of the round couches. I had a French 75 and he had an old fashioned. I ordered the crab dip. I will say the dip itself was phenomenal. The chips were quite a bit overdone for my taste. The prices were definitely way up there so be prepared to spend a lot of money on two drinks and an appetizer.

Yelp
My BFF and I went here for some festive Christmas feels, ambiance, good drinks, and food. The Good (perhaps REALLY good): It is a stunning space. You feel like you are in a Hollywood movie. It is even more magical during Christmas time. The lights, tall ceilings, and Christmas trees really create a magical atmosphere. I could eat McDonalds in this space and it would feel luxe. We ordered Old Fashioned Cocktails. I drink A LOT of O.F. Cocktails and I freuqeuently use them at a litmus test for bars and restaraunts. The Olymic Old Fahsioned is top-notch. It has the perfect amount of burn balenced with sweetness and bitters. It is classy without being over-the-top or trying to reinvent the wheel. A true classic! The Not-As-Good: The food was fine. Nothing special, nothing bad, but perhaps not worth the cost. I ordered the Olympic Smash Burger. It was tasty but a bit dry and definitely NOT a smash burger (it was thicker, just a regular burger). The fries were perfectly cut and crisp but they were a bit bland. They needed a lot more seasoning. My friend ordered the Caesar salad. It was fine. Also-Kinda-Average: The servers seemed to be checked-out. My friend and I were dressed to-the-nines. Other couples looked like they were on dates too. There was even a wedding party present. The servers seemed a little robotic and ambivalent. Kind of like you asked AI to "make an average server." Again fine, but not notable. We were served but not engaged or checked-on. Go for the vibes, and order a drink, but maybe bounce and eat dinner somewhere else.

Yelp
Time and time again have had an outstanding experience at Olympic bar. Our bartender, Tucker, was professional and engaged. Thank you once again!

Yelp
Ainura gave us a such a wonderful experience. Me and my visiting friend had the best time. She recommended the salmon Benedict and i must say it's the best I ever had. My friend got the prawns and biscuits and he was blown away too. They were both amazing but I think the salmon Benedict took the cake. From the ambience, the service the feeling like I'm cared for feel sold it and I couldn't have asked for a better start to my Sunday.

Yelp
Such a beautiful hotel lobby and bar. Came here for pre-dinner drinks. Pricey - our 2 cocktails totalled $50 with tax and tip. Cocktails were great - Old Fashioned and a Mezcal Mule. The bites looked yummy and I think I'd come back to try those :)

Yelp
We did not have a good tea party at the Olympic Bar. It was seven ladies having tea, and while the ambience is beautiful, and the tea was terrific, the customer service was subpar. Our waiter came to our table extremely rarely. At one point I got up and poured water in all our glasses myself. The menu is not correct, they told us that the crab profiterole was "upgraded" to crab on a watercress leaf and the lavender cookie with marmalade was "upgraded" to be a cookie without marmalade. The "upgrades" seem to be downgrades. The bill came to $1400 for the seven of us. They automatically added a 20% service charge. So our waiter received over 200$ for coming to our table approximately three times. I understand that staffing is tight these days, but for the amount of the bill and the tip and the small quantity of food, I expected more from the Olympic Bar.

Yelp
It's a hotel bar in Fairmont hotel. Ambiance is a little old school. I went there on a Sunday during their happy hour. They called it golden hour which is Sunday thru Thursday 3pm to 6pm. After I sat down, the server did not provide me the happy hour menu, only the regular menu was provided. I looked around. All customers were also only provided the regular menu. Was the bar not proud of their Hh deals, so the HH was not provided? I asked for the HH menu and ordered an old fashioned for $9. The cocktail was really just ok, kind of like a dive bar cocktail. It was served with a full glass of small ice cubes which was inconvenience to drink. I was surprised it was served like that at an elegant hotel.

Yelp
Downtown, Seattle. June 2022 Wonderful hotel bar in the open two story lobby of the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. The chairs and couches are plush and comfortable and the library theme makes it cozy. In fact, it is a little too popular with a local professional happy hour crowd and guests walking across the street from The W. The cocktails are good. The bar bites are better than the usual suspects. The bowl of clam chowder from the adjacent Shuckers Restaurant is good. Some people might complain the clam is chopped too small and the chowder is too thin but I prefer this style. One big problem is the overflow spills into the check in area and the foot traffic can block easy access in and out of the elevators. The price of food and drink reflects the upscale hotel setting. I know locals like the cost to be accessible. Perhaps it should be even a little higher to make it experience a little more relaxing.

Yelp
This is a grand old bar. Well it looks like one - I understand this place underwent a renovation in the modern era so I don't know how grand it's always been. The drinks and the food are just O.K. but the feel of the place is very cool; if they'd just turn the lights to a lower, warmer setting the vibe of this place would improve 100%. I don't end up here often because Downtown Seattle is kind of dead and this area of town is particularly comatose but if I am in the neighborhood I usually pop in. And it's a good idea too because you'll be transported away from modern sad Seattle into a pretty special bar. You won't need confirmation on that - just pop your head in the door and I dare you not to get persuaded to sit down for at least one drink. You might want to stick to some basics on the food and cocktails here. Like the George next door, everything is decent but not special so don't overpay for anything. Still to the basics and just take in the feels.
google avatar

Scarlet G.

Yelp
After going to the George we decided to come hang in the bar and have some coffee and dessert. We each had black coffee and my husband had the cheesecake. I loved the vibe of this bar on a Saturday afternoon - it's super relaxed and there were a few people taking engagement and wedding photos which is always fun to watch! The service was super quick and attentive! I would love to come back here for some drinks one evening.

Yelp
Fairmont bars never disappoint and the Olympic is no exception. I make no secret of loving old, high-end historic hotels so I was more than happy to find this bar on my happy hour hunt. The bartender made a perfect vodka martini and the fries were so worth the calories. For a busy place, it isn't loud. Of course it's on the pricier side. You're paying for ambiance and to be seen. Great service and loved the whole vibe.
google avatar

J K.

Yelp
The food is bad. But it used to be so good. They used to have great fries and small bites. Now, it's like a school cafeteria with nice ambiance. The fries are undercooked and bland, the burger is upsettingly dry, etc. And get this... it's also super expensive, so you get the best of both worlds: you hate the meal AND your wallet is now empty. yay. And their fries used to be so good - they were skinny, crispy (but not too crispy), and tastefully seasoned. The service was okay. The seating and ambiance is great.
google avatar

Akanksha G.

Yelp
The absolute best fries I have had in Seattle so far! I came by with a friend for our Founder's Club reservation a bit early and decided to check out this spot. We were able to snag a spot on the plush couch with a little table, and our server took our order in no time. Y'all. When I saw the price on the menu, I was so sure it was going to be an overpriced disappoint - but that was not the case! Instead, we received a mountain of fries with a sauce that was simply divine. The fries were crispy, flavorful, and every single fry was seasoned well. Even though it was fried, it lacked greasiness and was easy to devour. The only reason I knocked off a star is because it was almost impossible to find our server after getting our food. Plus, the bartenders don't have access to tabs for tables by the couches, so we had to basically chase her down to pay. It's definitely a great spot to lounge, but I wouldn't recommend coming here if you have somewhere to be after. Overall, I had a fantastic time and will definitely be back!

Tricia F.

Yelp
This is a beautiful hotel bar - one of my favorites! I was in Seattle for work last week and had to work a few late nights. Olympic Bar came in clutch and I ended up dining here for 2 of my 3 nights in the city. I love their chicken entree with extra veggies and lava cake. The mocktails are also really nice and I'm grateful to have had this great option in my hotel lobby.
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to meet for drinks and a light dinner before attending events at The Fifth Avenue Theater. The lobby of the Olympic Hotel was always elegant, which is sad that the old lobby is gone but this bar was overflowing with guests. We met before the musical White Christmas and barely got a place. The four us each had a drink (two martinis and two specialty drinks) with a Caeser salad which came with white anchovies! Very good! The bar's signature cocktail is made with honey from their rooftop beehives. There are two smaller bars on each side of the bar, with one being a "hidden" speakeasy behind a bookcase. I believe one needs reservations for both smaller bars. Of course, it's prices but it is lots of fun and a memorable experience. On weekends the Lobby bar has weekend afternoon tea.

Tyelr S.

Yelp
I had a great time here. Bartenders Tucker and Kai gave me a wondeful experience. I was given cocktail recommendations based on my flavor preferences. I def will be back.

Paul H.

Yelp
This bar was recommended for an afternoon cocktail and appetizers...was greatly disappointed for a 5 star hotel!! I am a beer drinker and they had no beer because the CO2 system was not working for several hours. I asked for bottled beer and they had none ?? Couldn't they go to the corner store and get some in an emergency?? Anyways..chose a wine I was not happy with and my wife had the Caesar salad and there were brown leaves and soggy leaves with too much dressing. I live in Scottsdale AZ and have gone to the Fairmont Princess many times and have had nothing but great experiences. The ambiance was cool and lovely but they need to provide 5 star service when paying $25 for a cocktail!!! Greatly disappointed!

Yelp
Spent the night at the Fairmont hotel recently and stopped by the Olympic Bar for dinner! The ambience here is beautiful, I felt like I was in an old-timely movie sipping cocktails at the bar. Cocktails were pricey and were not very strong but overall tasty - we tried a Moscow mule, espresso martinis and another cocktail (pictured). Espresso martinis were definitely the best! For dinner we got the Bao Buns (4/5), these were tasty but had more of an American-Asian fusion flavor. We also tried the Fried Cod (5/5) - super crispy and flavorful, as well as the Olympic Burger(5/5) and some fries(4/5). The burger was cooked perfectly and was nicely portioned, not too small but not overwhelming. The fries were nice and crispy but could have been more flavorful. You'll come for the ambience and stay for the delicious food. Would definitely recommend for a nice cozy meal during the holidays!

Yelp
Super cute, very vibey and yummy food! Bartender was a Spanish speaking Rockstar! Will return

Yelp
We've been here a lot. The people who work here are usually top-notch employees. Today, however, was an exception. The only seats available were at the bar, and before we sat down, the very nice and accommodating female employee with the black hair said we could sit here or there and then told us the kitchen wouldn't be open for another 30 minutes. That sounded fine. We sat at the bar and the bartender walked over and said, "Do you want anything?" We ordered two drinks. He didn't ask what kind of alcohol we'd like, so when I told him, he made a point of making it clear that I had just inconvenienced him. He found the alcohol and it wasn't what we asked for. It was a variation of what we asked for, but it wasn't the alcohol we requested. (Might they have been out of what we requested? Possibly. Should he have told us that so we could change what we ordered? Definitely.) So Sketchy McBartender brings our drinks back and before setting them down, he says, "Is this all you're having?" Hmmm. Most bartenders try to get you to order more drinks. He seemed to be trying to get us the eff out of there and quickly. Keep in mind we hadn't said one word to him or been loud or exhibited any of the nonsense customer behaviors that are common in bars. He then said, "We don't have food today." Period. He didn't say the kitchen would be opening in 30 minutes. "We don't have food today." All the while, he was as curt and unfriendly as someone working at a local dive bar. Our drinks were good. We tried for at least 10 minutes to pay for our drinks, but he was not big on eye contact and then engaged in a conversation (both forearms on the bar) with an older customer at the other end of the bar. Finally, he rushed by and we were able to get his attention long enough to get him to agree to run our credit card. Let me make this clear. We have been here many times. Every person working here in the past has been friendly and professional. They made us want to return again and again. Sketchy McB, on the other hand, made us question if we'd want to ever come back here. If you hate interacting with customers, there are plenty of jobs available that don't require you to interact with customers. If you are having a bad day, don't take it out on us. We were having a nice day and just wanted to grab a quick drink. The last thing we expected was a tetchy bartender vibing us out at the Olympic Bar. If we return, we will be sure to never sit at the bar again--it's what McB would want.

Yelp
Welcome back to bars! As long as you have your vax passport or negative test you can sit at the bar and get your favorite drink. Especially at the Olympic Bar located in the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. The bar is located in the lobby of the hotel with a large bar and seating in the back. Parking is valet or garage, but please don't drive yourself to a bar! The bar is as swanky as the rest of the hotel with a nice steampunk garnish. Although you can get any booze you want, the stars are the special cocktails on the menu. I chose the Doppelganger which is a play on a classic Manhattan with similar but different ingredients. Prices are very high, but you are paying for a quality drink in a classy place. Service was nice, yet firm. Do not insult the drinks or drink too much. They will cut you off as they did with my neighbor. Polite, but firm as a professional would do. It can get a bit loud with so much stone and wood, so it may be difficult to have those fun intimate conversations. But you can always get a room! Every good hotel deserves a good bar, and the Olympic Bar fits the bill. Perfect for meeting friends or a nightcap after a long day exploring Seattle. Pace yourself and enjoy!

Yelp
Olympic bar, smack in the middle of the Olympic Fairmont Hotel is absolutely gorgeous. It's definitely old-world luxury. We sat down at a table and were promptly greeted by a very nice waiter. Everything came out fast, and our food and drinks were delicious. It's just such a classy place. We ordered french fries, bao buns, oysters, and steak. The fries were great with an awesome lemon and horseradish dipping sauce. The bao buns were definitely a hit. The steak was cooked perfectly and came with an amazing sauce. The only slight miss was the oysters, which 3 of the 6 that came out were a little sandy. Other than that, everything was perfect. I would highly recommend this bar to both guests and non-guests as it's a great low-key atmosphere that's swanky and feels like good classic luxury.

Yelp
Waited an hour for lunch. Still waiting as I'm writing this :). Waited 30 minutes for breakfast at the George, and it appears they share a kitchen. Update. It came. Over an hour late. Over salted and black in places. And half way through the meal I realized they had my dietary restrictions wrong despite asking and confirming twice. I had to yell out my room number out for charge to the staff and head back to my room for meds. And wait to see if the rest of the day would be saved or ruined. It's been an adventure.

Yelp
There was an energetic vibe when me and my friends went in, but the servers were still super attentive and quickly getting to everyone. The people were friendly and our bartender was a funny. They named the two non-alcoholic drinks after their managers. We thought the drinks were interesting, not in a bad way, but just a had a unique taste to them. We missed the speakeasy behind the bookshelves by a few minutes. It closes 1 hour before the bar does. I definitely recommend because the decor, service, and speakeasy was so cool.

Yelp
I made a visit to the bar in September with a friend visiting out of town. It was my first time visiting since the remodel. Service was VERY slow even though they had just opened and there weren't many folks there. Bar staff was not very friendly and we struggled to flag them down to order. My group had to ask for water but the server automatically gave other parties water right when they sat down. I'd expect better overall service for this type of establishment. I ordered fries but when they arrived they said they were out of the aioli that's supposed to come with the fries and gave me ketchup instead. They were fine with just serving the ketchup and didn't think to make more for me. I told them I'd wait for the aioli. They looked surprised that I wouldn't just accept the ketchup. It took way to long to get the sauce. I asked the server twice for an update before it came. Fries were cold by the time it arrived. They charge way to much for fries so I want to get what I pay for. The cocktails were decent but the overall poor service dampened the experience. Prior to the remodel the bar/service staff were top notch. A favorite go to spot for my office. I hope some of that old staff returns.

Yelp
Seeing the reviews preceding the one I am about to write I am surprised that my experience is two stars higher than the average. Here's a possible few reasons why the disparity: 1) I love old hotels best and some new ones too - I haven't been in one that I haven't enjoyed all across the USA and a wide swath throughout Europe. 2) I love hotel lobby bars new and old, why? They are a fine tradition and a great social setting plus (See #1) 3) I love handcrafted cocktails made with quality spirits and fresh garnishes. 4) I love a bartender who can carry on a lively intelligent conversation. 5) I love a bartender who knows her or his (in this instance we had one of each-both delightful) craft. 6) I love specialty cocktail creations with clever names: Anchor Down for example. 7) I love unique bar fare; example: roasted carrots! Could I have thought of 3 more reasons for a five stars review to make an even ten or 5 more reasons to make it an even dozen? In this instance emphatically YES. Yes it is that good.

Yelp
Great and beautiful old bar inside the Fairmont hotel in Seattle. Service was good despite being busy. We had some happy hour food our first night there. Short rib poutine! It was great. Classic bar in a beautiful environment.

Yelp
Gorgeous atmosphere and sparkling energy. But you pay a very dear price for it. I had a prosecco which after tax ( but before tip) was $15. Had a burger as well. $28 after tax ( but before tip). You are paying for atmosphere and a great place to socialize, but come prepared to spend alot more money than you planned for food and drinks.

Yelp
*If I could rate this a 3.5 I would* Stayed at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel for several days so we were able to try out their menu during breakfast and for lunch/dinner. I want to first mention that the Hotel lobby is gorgeous and gives off a really classy feel. The décor really gives this place a cozy feel and a great place to relax....when it's quiet. One thing that I found very unique is that there is no designated "restaurant" area. There's a area next to the bar that has an assortment of chairs, sofas and tables scattered around. This is your "dining area". What this means is that when you want to sit down to eat (or grab a drink) you plop yourself down at an open table (hopefully you came during a non-peak time so you can find a seat) and wave down one of the waitstaff that is floating around. If it's busy (as was the case in a few instances for us) it can be frustrating trying to get someone's attention (not to blame the staff as they were doing their best with the numbers they had). The other issue is that because the area is set up for lounging there's no proper tables to eat from. Imagine having to eat your meal off of your coffee table. This could be your experience. We ended up having to hunch over the table to eat. My recommendation? If you're baller then you can order dine in service if you have a room but be prepared to wait an hour for your meal (also add 2-3 bucks to each menu item). My recommendation? Head down and order the food as take out and bring it up to your room instead. We found it saved us a lot of hassles. Finally on to the food. In most of the cases it was pretty good. We had the following (as of 6/2021). - SALMON GRAVLAX BAGEL - $17 - A few slices of smoked salmon on a bagel... really overpriced in my opinion for $17. - THE CLASSIC - $16 - Good but nothing special. - HAM & CHEESE CROISSANT - $14 - Great flavor and came with a side of greens. - SHUCKERS CLAM CHOWDER - $12 - Great flavor and not too heavy. Size could be larger. - DUNGENESS CRAB CAKE - $32 - In my opinion this was overpriced as you get two biscuit sized crab cakes. At $16 each I felt it was steep. - HAND CUT FRIES - $14 - Not bad but nothing special. - OLYMPIC BURGER - $25 - It was a fine burger don't get me wrong but $25?? Sure it was tender but for $25 I expect something really special. Overall the food was pretty tasty but the prices definitely reflects that 5 star pricing. If they took $3-$4 off the menu items this would be a 4 star review for sure. If you're in the mood for eating in the hotel definitely give the food a go (better if you have any hotel credits) but I advise against dining in unless you go during the quieter hours.

Yelp
The Fairmont Olympic Seattle never disappoints. This is my 4th multi-night stay and the first since they renovated the lobby, and post-Covid. The whole atmosphere has only gotten better. This is a prime example on how to keep an historic hotel relevant and accessible. Rooms are awesome as always and I love the expanded lobby bar. Their bar staff is meticulous and work hard to keep drinks coming with very short waits.

Yelp
Review for Afternoon Tea only on a Sunday in the newly renovated Olympic Bar Really wanted to love it but... Came on a Sunday at 1-2:45pm. Everything had good flavor BUT!! tasted like they were prepared day or even 2 days before and pulled out of the fridge and Cambros and onto our plates. Most things tasted dry or even almost stale. For $60 per person (special for May before going up to $75!), I expect much much fresher. 2* Service was impeccable and friendly 5* Ambience was old school hotel feel and lovely for afternoon tea. 4.5* Food in detail: Berries were fresh with a large mint leaf Scones, classic & raisin, both dry. Came with side of Devonshire cream (Excellent!) and Fruit Preserves Tea Sandwiches: 1. Deviled eggs garnished with Salmon Caviar (Ikura) & Chives (instead of fennel) had good flavor but was so cold like it was made days before. 2. Gougères filled with herbed goat cheese (tasted a touch of blue cheese or gargonzola and wished it was less dense) 3. Cucumber garnished with black olives and fennel (unnoticeable) 4. Chicken salad on endive leaves garnished with sliced red grapes was tasty 5. Filet Mignon on a Brioche Bun with everything sprinkle and horseradish (barely noticeable) was tender but the bun was on the dry side. Pastries 1. Madeline (regular and chocolate with chips were practically stale) 2. Chocolate Bon Bons (salted caramel and white chocolate hazelnut were Excellent) 3. Pate de Apricot Fruit (was Excellent!) 4. Macarons (black currant and vanilla did not have the macaron chew)

Yelp
Glad to be able to walk down and get 2 delicious lattes that weren't made with Starbucks. The tall male server made two for me while I saw several guests being seated in the dining area. The menu looked good, but I opted for the Apple danish. Everyone was so so attentive and nice. The host even found me some sugar in the raw for me as I was only offered simple white sugar packets. When I asked about syrup I was told they only have sugar free vanilla, or maybe it was caramel. Worth it and the caffeine is kicking in and doing its job.

Yelp
This is an upscale hotel bar where you can come to bridge the hour between work and dinner. It's a good place to unwind from a long meeting and do a bit of people watching. The seating at the bar is often full but there are lots of places to site around the bar and these offer quite comfortable, and often quieter and more private locations to enjoy your drinks. The cocktails we had were excellently prepared and well presented.

Yelp
Service is not good except by this hispanic guy who was kind. Building is good. Art work is good, service is not there. Ok, so they are busy and cannot serve outside bar? Others were being served. I got to the bar to get a drink & bar tender was saying that. After the rude bartender who expected me to take the drink myself & clean the table & seat anywhere, parking fiasco happened. They charged $25 for parking & it did not work at olympic parking. I will have to call try to get credit back to cc. Urrrr. Update: before they remodeled this place, I remember few other events that disturbed me. A valet called my friend who was staying there and told a lie about me that was a personal insult and attack of my character which prob had to do with a valet losing a job over something happened with my car.

Yelp
This is a beautiful hotel bar with very good food. Since I was traveling for work and dining alone, I opted to sit at the bar. The clam chowder was excellent; very flavorful with a smooth and not overly thick texture. The halibut entrée was beautifully presented. The panna cotta was a nice light ending to the meal. I will be back the next time I'm in Seattle.

Yelp
The story began during pride weekend. After the parade, we went to Olympic Hotel for drinks and appetizers. 1. First, before we all ordered drinks, my friend, who uses a wheelchair, needed the lift to get up the three steps to the table we were assigned. The lift needed the door on the upper end closed before it would work, but the server was very confused. Finally, a second server came to try to figure it out, and also got confused. This lasted 5 minutes. Out of frustration, my friend finally said " Could you please just close the door at the top, it then should work." They did , so my friend finally got to enter the lift and join the rest of us. 2. I asked for hand sanitizer, but once it was on my hands, I felt something was going to be interesting. Then I saw these tiny bubbles started popping out. Well, I guess it was soap, so I had to use the restroom to rinse it off. I asked for hand sanitizer but I got soap. Haha. 3. I tasted something different when I was having my ice cream, so I took it out from my mouth and found that it's a piece of paper. What a surprise when you are enjoying your dessert, so I tried SEVERAL times to get the attention of a server. I wanted to see what they were going to do with this. Instead of apologizing, she said something either like 'what do you want?' or something like that. I was like emmmmm, I don't know? Maybe not finishing the rest of the dessert? Finally, she said she will take the cake away and also take that off the check. Thank god, that's all they can do for their mistake. It's fine by me but I guess I didn't want to order any more items. 4. The fourth story was not about us, but our neighbors that sat next to our table. Some other customers that were on the second floor was opening a champagne bottle with a saber knife, but unfortunately they failed. The top of the bottle cracked and got tossed over to our floor and hit our neighbors table. Glass was over their carpet and our neighbors had the cork in his hand. The customers around all noticed that, but there was no server/manager that approached them. Finally, one of the customers found a manager somewhere and took him to their table to take care of this . Hope they got taken care of. 5. After we paid our bill and were ready to step out of the hotel, I noticed that there was a poster near the escalator which had colorful pride cocktails on it. What a surprise! Nobody mentioned that there was a special drink for pride week. But okay, we missed it and probably won't want it anymore. Customer service: Not good. Food/drink: Good but a little it pricy. Will I recommend this bar to my friends? No. Thanks for reading such a long comment. And hope it would help you to make a decision.

Yelp
Chris the bartender needs a new attitude. I approach the bar at 10:45 pm after a long, delayed flight from New York City. I'm aware that the bar closes at 11:00 pm so I'm relieved when the bartender Chris informs me I've made it in time for last call. As I'm trying to decide what beer to order, Chris impatiently and very passive aggressively rolls his eyes and dramatically turns away from me to tend to other duties & patrons as if I was taking too long. I thought maybe he had a long day/shift as well so I tried not to think much of this incident. The next evening I return to the bar for some evening drinks with my wife. Chris asks us for proof of vaccination, which we have and am happy to show. As I present my vaccination proof as he requested, he seems bothered by my doing so and rudely snaps at me something to the effect of "Yeah well I can't look at that right now, I'm making these drinks" without making eye contact with me and proceeding to tend to other customers at the other end of the bar. I've never been so rudely spoken to within the first 30 seconds of speaking to a bartender, ever. Chris's attitude towards me seemed as if I was a tremendous, annoying inconvenience to him. I understand bartenders have a lot of responsibilities and long shifts, but I would have appreciated being spoken to with more respect and friendliness. All it takes is something like "I'll be right with you, I'm just wrapping up this current order and I'll be right there" with some eye contact. The lobby of this hotel with the bar is very lovely, especially with the Christmas tree present. But these back to back negative experiences with Chris made me not want to go any more, which is unfortunate because I didn't feel welcome as a guest of the hotel. For what it's worth, the drinks were fine and there was another female bartender who eventually treated my wife and me with more courtesy and respect. If you go here, don't be surprised if the bartender named Chris is very curt with you while making no effort to hide his passive aggressive body language. Customers are not blind to these details and it really impacts our experience negatively.

Yelp
This was my first time staying at the Fairmont Olympic and the experience was exceptional! My friends and I got drinks at the Olympic Bar on a Tuesday evening and the service was good. There was a rush in the evening so we had to wait a bit for our drinks but it wasn't terrible. The bartenders were all extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I tried the Calypso (good if you like grapefruit), Harpie & Shrew, and the Olympic Mule - all tasted outstanding but the Olympic Mule was by far my favorite. What made the Olympic Mule stand out from other mules was the honey vodka and ciociaro (bittersweet citrusy, earthy type of liqueur). I came back another night to grab food and got the Olympic Burger which was *chef's kiss*. Probably one of the best burgers I've ever had! The bacon jam and roasted garlic aioli were delicious and the meat was cooked exactly how I wanted (medium). The ambiance of the hotel is cozy, modern, and very elegant. I would highly recommend the Olympic Bar and also staying a night at this hotel! Also, don't forget your vax card and ID!

Yelp
Great industrial, mid century vibe to this bar that's inside the Fairmont Hotel. Listen for the cocktail shakers behind the secret speakeasy door. We had a great pairing of the panna cotta w/ gingerbread with a dark lager on tap.

Yelp
The best burger and fries. Cosmo was great but a little small. as you would expect, the prices are a little on the premium side. The new bar in the Olympic is a special place very cozy and service could not be better. The odd sculpture on top of the bar is somewhat distracting and i couldn't imagine who gets to oil the squeaky parts or dust it. Go treat yourself!

Yelp
I am amazed at what Seattle has become. Everyone was dressed up and trendy crowds as well as visitors who were just there to have drinks. I like the bartenders who were very busy, but so friendly at same time. I would come back for the drinks but it is bit too touristy and top crowded for my liking. I would have appreciated little more direction or organization for seating arrangements.

Yelp
Afternoon cocktails to relax and wind down after another nice day in the Seattle Washington area. Would like to come again to try breakfast or brunch. Very nice atmosphere

Yelp
I've come to the Fairmont several times since their renovation and have been surprised and delighted each time. The Olympic Bar has a great atmosphere and is a remarkable centerpiece for the hotel. I have been here for afternoon tea, cocktails, and snacks on separate occasions and had wonderful food and service each time. The prices are incredibly competitive considering the location in a five star restaurant. While before I would only come to the fairmont lobby bar by happenstance, I make a point of coming now, and always bring my out of town guests.

Yelp
This is probably the worst Hotel Bar we have ever been to. The server/bartender doesn't fill up any of the glasses or even offered drinks. It took us over 30 minutes sitting down to place an order. Chowder was cold, lumpy and seemed to come out of a Campbell can. Burger was dry. Bao Bun was hard as rock. Finally, Cavetelli is not at all tasty and flavorful. It took over an hour to get our food. This is not worth $100 at all. Happy New Year Fairmont. Please fix your service and food quality. Don't waste our money.
