The 14 Best Restaurants In Brickell

"Dinner at a handroll bar in Brickell might sound like an expensive idea that’ll leave you hungry. But Omakai Hand Roll Bar is filling and pretty affordable. The oma deluxe is the best deal. For $24, you get five generously stuffed handrolls with an even layer of warm rice. If you want to be in control of your own handroll destiny, you can go a la carte and get an $18 uni to celebrate a promotion. Things tend to move fast here, which make it great for a last-minute date night, or a quick lunch between meetings." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino

10 New Miami Restaurants To Try Right Now

"Dinner at a handroll bar in Brickell might sound like an expensive idea that’ll leave you hungry. But Omakai Hand Roll Bar is filling and affordable. The top half of the menu has four combo options that are between $15 and $34. Like the other Omakai sushi restaurants in Wynwood and Coconut Grove, the oma deluxe is the best deal. For $24, you get five generously stuffed handrolls with an even layer of warm rice. If you want to be in control of your own handroll destiny, you can go a la carte and get an $18 uni to celebrate a big promotion (or mourn a tough breakup). They only have counter seating, so this isn’t a place to visit with 14 family members, but it’s also large enough to fit a middle school classroom, so you don’t have to worry about a long wait time. This makes it great for a last-minute date night, or a quick lunch between meetings." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino

Miami’s New Restaurant Openings

"Brickell has a new hand roll bar from the people behind Omakai—a dependable sushi spot with locations in Wynwood and Coconut Grove. Their menu includes standard hand rolls like salmon and blue crab alongside fancier versions like wagyu sukiyaki, scallop truffle, and uni ikura. " - mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

Omakai Hand Roll Bar Review - Brickell - Miami - The Infatuation

This makes it great for a last-minute date night, or a quick lunch between meetings. Food Rundown photo credit: Omakai Hand Roll Bar Ome Deluxe This is why you’re here. The oma deluxe costs $24 and comes with five handrolls—salmon, blue crab, albacore, bay scallops, and negi toro, in that order. By the time you finish the mayo-coated scallops, you’ll probably get full. But power through for the negi toro that’s a pinkies-up closer to the most affordable sushi meal in Brickell. photo credit: Omakai Hand Roll Bar Yellowtail The yellowtail handroll is made with heavy handfuls of scallion and can be found in the oma combo or a la carte. If you’re here with a friend who opts for the oma experience, steal a bite from them. Otherwise, it’s not special enough to pay $7 for it a la carte. video credit: Omakai Hand Roll Bar Albacore Our favorite handroll on the menu, served a la carte or in the oma deluxe combo. The smooth albacore is mixed with a sweet sauce and layered with shiso (Japanese mint). Some bites are more minty while others just savory, which makes it feel like you’re having four handrolls in this tuna-filled tube." - Mariana Trabanino

Google
I’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time, and it did not disappoint! It was easy to find parking, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The tasting menu was incredibly fresh and flavorful — especially the small hand rolls, which were absolutely amazing. Service was excellent from the moment we walked in — friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Everything was beautifully presented and full of flavor. If you’ve never been here, I strongly recommend starting with the hand rolls and letting the tasting menu guide your experience. A great spot with great vibes — can’t wait to come back!

Merel

Google
Recommend the tasting menu, fun to try and good value for money. Only tip for improvement is to give us a written down note telling us what each dish is - it was hard to hear the servers when they told us so we didn’t always know what we were trying. Team super friendly and it has a cute authentic aesthetic. I had just landed from a long flight and they were very accommodating in getting my food out and getting me my bill quickly, but I saw other guests taking their time too.

Google
Everything about this place is so perfect. The best are the bay scallop, truffle scallop and the baked crab hand roll (bay scallop is UNREAL)!! Kyle is the best here he will make sure you’ll well taken care of and the vibes are immaculate✨✨ (awesome happy hour too!)

Google
I can't complain, it has been one of the best culinary experiences of my life. Letty with her service and Chef Victor with his magic have created the best explosion of flavor. Omakai sushi is on another level. The Omakai experience is definitely the best option. The quality and price are worth every penny.

Google
Perfect spot for a quick solo sushi lunch. The scallop truffle roll was buttery with just the right hit of truffle, the toro was super fresh and melted in your mouth, but the uni roll was clean and briny in the BEST way. Fast, friendly service and chill vibes

Yelp
makai Hand Roll Bar is hands down one of the best sushi spots I've been to, and I've been to a lot. The sushi is fresh, perfectly balanced, and absolutely delicious--each bite melts in your mouth. Our waiter, Isaac, was incredibly kind and made the experience even better with his attentive service. The hand rolls were rolled just right, with crisp nori and generous portions of fish. It's the kind of spot you instantly want to come back to, and it easily deserves 5-star potential. That said, I have to knock off a star because the green onions completely overpower the flavors--a little goes a long way, and here, they were way too much. Also, their hand wipes are just not it. A small detail, but the cheap wipes bring down the whole premium experience. If they upgraded to those tiny hand wipes that expand in water, it would seriously elevate the overall vibe. Small tweaks, but they would take an already great spot to perfection. Still, highly recommend for sushi lovers!

Yelp
I was so excited to try this new hand roll bar, since I love the original Omakai spots. This location is right around the corner from all the popular restaurants and bars in Brickell so it's very easy to get to. The atmosphere is very clean and modern and it is counter top seating throughout the entire place. You are able to see the staff and chefs making the rolls from every seat and it's very accessible if you want to order another roll or get someone's attention. I went relatively early for happy hour, which begins at 3pm and it wasn't too crowded. It started to get more packed towards 6pm. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly. The menus were easy to read and it was very quick to ordering your food and then you were served almost immediately. There is flexibility on when you can order and how much, so depending on how you feel, you can go at whatever pace you're comfortable with. I enjoyed all the rolls, of course, but my favorite were the bay scallop, negi toro, hamachi, and salmon. I did try a couple of the specialty rolls which were tasty, but I think staying simple may be the move here. Some of the specialty rolls are doing too much and the prices are a little inflated. Overall, I am very impressed with this hand roll bar and cannot wait to come back very soon!

Yelp
My favorite place in Brickell! Came on a solo date here on a Friday night, and it was jampacked. Luckily, there was a little seat in the corner. They were able to see me at right away. One of the chefs recognized me because I come so often and he even gave me a yellow tail hand roll on the house. How lucky am I? This place is so great because you're in and out in 30 minutes if you want to be, or if you want to sit and chat a little, you can probably stretch it to an hour. But it's really not a place for spending a long dinner. The hand rolls are stuffed to the brim and the deluxe is more than enough to fill you up for dinner. The experience is good too for the sashimi, but weirdly, the lobster roll isn't my favorite and i love the albacore roll so the deluxe is the way to go for me personally. A top notch dinner with quality ingredients for $30? Good luck finding this anywhere else in Brickell. Looking forward to trying the new downtown miami location next!

Yelp
Phenomenal hand rolls. Every single hand roll I had was delicious and fresh. Made on the spot right in front of you. The nigori sake was so good, I'm usually not a fan of sake. Service was exceptional, I never had an empty glass of water. The ambiance was a vibe, it's a huge bar. Must try this place.

Yelp
Stayed at the JW nearby and had a craving for some Sushi. Thought the concept of a hand roll bar was pretty neat and decided to stop by. No reservations, walk in only. Can get busy fast. Got seated immediately upon arrival. Menu is simple and to the point. In my opinion, the best bang for your buck is set menu. Everything is made right in front of you and very fresh. If you eat it quickly you find the nori is still crispy! Washed it all down with a Kirin Light with complimented the traditional sushi bar ambiance. The kicker was that it was also pretty affordable! I'd recommend bringing a friend and trying Omakai out for yourself!
google avatar

Anika M.

Yelp
This place does tend to get busy for dinner. They only offer bar seating but, their bar roughly seats 20. Once you get seated they waste no time in taking your order. You can choose to order from their prefix, experience, or a la carte. The moment you order the sushi chef is then queued to start your hand roll experience. The sushi chef only prepares your next roll once you have finished your previous roll. OMA Deluxe Salmon Hand Roll- 8/10 Tasted fresh but was cut up very small. Blue Crab Hand Roll- 9/10 Nice clean taste and I'm glad it wasn't tossed in mayonnaise . Albacore Hand Roll- 7/10 Fresh taste but it was dark in color. This is a bit sweet for my liking. Bay Scallops Hand Roll- 7/10 The bay scallops were a great size. These were tossed in too much mayonnaise. Negi-Toro Hand Roll- 10/10 Fresh clean taste. This roll was just missing some ponzu like sauce to dip into. During my visit I did notice it to be a little louder than other omakase hand roll bars. There were many guests including myself having a hard time hearing the sushi chef each time he prepared a roll for us. The staff was very welcoming and attentive. The wait is t long unless you come with a larger party.

Yelp
This has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Miami! The prices are amazing and the hand rolls are even better. My favorites are the blue crab and the bay scallop hand rolls! You can be in and out of here quickly as well. Definitely worth trying!

Yelp
It has been a long time since I found a good hand roll bar especially coming from NY & LA! This one has a great selection of rolls and the prices are on point! Very good quality food great service and great vibes. In the heart of Miami. The parking they have valet, and the servers who make the rolls very quick and friendly! I found me a new SLAMMIN sushi hand roll spot for sure!

Yelp
It has been a long time since I found a good hand roll bar. This one has good food great service and great vibe. In the heart of Miami. The traffic never easy to go there however the place offers valet parking at 20$. Micheal the valet guy was very amazing. He is super helpful and friendly when we asked for directions. For business owners: when I walked in there is smell of vinegar or some sort of fish is there a way to improve it ? And if there is more fun variety of hand rolls I would love to try, like plantain w ell or hot sauce rolls like something more fun.
google avatar

Kylie C.

Yelp
Really tasty hand rolls!! The only issue is you have to wait but it's worth the wait. Preset roll combo options that are reasonably priced for the quality. You can also watch it being made which adds to the experience.

Yelp
I really didn't know how badly Miami needed a spot like this. If you know Omakai as a brand, you know they specialize in quality yet more casual omakase. They nailed it with their second concept: a hand roll bar. It's intimate, uses high-quality ingredients, and comes at an affordable price. This has been my go-to spot since they opened, and I can confidently say it's been 5 stars every time. I usually go for their Omakai Experience, which is exactly what you need. It includes sashimi to start, followed by specialty and regular hand rolls. Some of my favorites are: * bay scallop * toro miso * blue crab * salmon sashimi But honestly, they're all amazing. The staff is also awesome--super helpful and welcoming. I love going to a place that feels like home (except there's no way I could make this at home!). Perfect for solo dates, date nights, or hanging with a few friends. The setup is intimate, with one big open bar concept, seating all around, and the chef making hand rolls right in the middle. Such a vibe!

Yelp
Love the original Omakai , this handroll bar makes no difference! Very delicious, well price, attentive service and good fast casual atmosphere. Love the interaction with the chefs and other people around the sushi bar. Cool addition to Brickell. Will be back again and again! and the Happy Hour can't be beat !!!
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Omakai makes some very tasty hand rolls! We went during happy hour which was an incredible deal. One of the biggest surprises was the specialty vegetarian roll--it was very flavorful despite having no fish! Service was quick and friendly, and the ambiance was comfortable and cozy. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Yelp
Home run concept brought over from their omakase style restaurant. The hand roll specific menu hits perfectly next to the vibe they establish. Went with the Omakai experience, which consisted of 6 chef choice "omakase style" hand rolls + a Sashimi course. I recommend everyone try the same. Blue crab, lobster, Toro, scallops, tuna, feel, salmon, all delivered on taste and quality. The friendly staff explained every course to perfection, making the experience even better. Check this place and experience out if you're in the area.

Yelp
Great hand rolls albeit very small morsels but flavorful and fresh. We did 2 of their preset menus OMA deluxe: salmon, blue crab, bay scallops, albacore and negitoro and OMA: yellowtail, salmon, blue crab and negitoro to try a variety of their handrolls. Our waitress was new and we could tell was still learning as we were trying to pick a Sake but ended up selecting the hot sake carafe as it was one of those rare Miami evenings that dipped into the 50s. As most places, 20% service charge is included. Would like to go back to try their happy hour special.

B R.

Yelp
Changed my roll request midway in but they did not accommodate my request. Some rolls were okay but the service could have been better. Also, rather than politely being asked if we were ready to pay, my friend and I were brusquely told that there were people waiting (we had no problem paying and leaving but being told in a rude way was not necessary given the amount of money spent). Ambiance is okay but service needs improvement.
google avatar

Lourdes S.

Yelp
Perfect perfect place for a fresh dinner or lunch. Got the deluxe experience and the chef knew exactly when to give us the next roll which was awesome! I was lucky to sit in the middle where I saw the chef make all the other rolls for everyone which really added to my experience. The place is well lit with all seats around the bar. Overall I do recommend this place for a true seafood lover as there is only hand rolls and sashimi! Will be back soon for more, sad I got too full before I could order Uni.

Yelp
Simple and freshly prepared. The people are friendly. The fish is fresh, delicate and delicious.

Yelp
If you're looking for amazing, fresh, authentic sushi in Miami, this is the spot to go. I've tried several sushi spots are Miami and I can't find one that beats this spot. The Eel and Urchin were SO good.

Yelp
My gosh...where do I begin?! I love Omakai. Been a fan since I first heard of them in Wynwood and I've been following their journey ever since. What has always drawn me back is their handrolls, so the fact that they opened up a bar JUST for that, is a dream come true. All you need in this life of sin is good sake and handroll. Luckily, for any Miami local, you can get both here!! The service is always impeccable. When my friend and I visited, it was quite empty, so we automatically sat at the bar. I love sitting at the bar because you really get to engage with the chef and learn a little more about the food process. I ordered their deluxe option. Every bite was a journey that I never wanted to end. And you may think I'm exaggerating but I dare you to try this place out for yourself so you can see what I'm talking about! Prices are affordable. Happy hour is a perfect time to try out the rolls and sake, so if you can make it for that, even better. I recommend Omakai to anyone that wants to experience what a good handroll is like.
google avatar

The Miami Food Edit ..

Yelp
I did the Omakai experience and honestly it was exceptional. Amazing price for outrageous flavor. Omakai never disappoints. The service is amazing and the establishment is A vibe. Perfect for a date night or dinner with a friend. 10/10 recommend this place!! I can't wait to go back

Yelp
Good idea, nice ambience, will probably be great for people visiting Brickell. Hygiene is questionable being beards had no protection and a lot of talking over raw food prep. Hostess was amazing, service was Miami usual.
google avatar

Yelp
Ambiance: is gorgeous, very relaxing and calming atmosphere to eat. Service: waitress was very professional and knowledgeable about the menu. She helped us to understand how the menu with this being our first visit. Food: very delish!, very fresh. Edamame was great as well as the hand rolls.

Yelp
What a hidden gem. Tucked away in the back of Brickell, Omakai Hand Roll Bar offers a solid dining experience that's easy to miss but hard to forget. While the wait might seem daunting at first glance, the staff move people in and out efficiently, so you won't be standing around for too long. If you're going with more than three people, just know that the seating arrangement can make it difficult to chat with everyone--tables are designed for intimate interactions, which works perfectly for smaller groups. But hands down, the food is exceptional, just like their other non hand roll locations that serve up a handful of pre-fixed omakase options. The servers are attentive, setting you up for wave after wave of hand rolls that are both fresh and generously portioned. The intensity of flavors, especially in the premium fish cuts, makes every bite a standout. And for the portions and quality you get, the price tag feels more than justified. Whether you're a hand roll aficionado or a sushi newbie, Omakai delivers a consistently excellent experience.

Yelp
Written by our 10-year-old gourmand "Omakai is a wonderful place with 5 star staff so kind and so approachable, attentive and 5 star food and arrangement of seating and decorations- overall the time I spent at omakai was 5 stars!"
google avatar

Yelp
Best new restaurant in brickell! They specialize in hand rolls but also have some nigiri and sashimi options. Everything was so tasty and fresh. Very cool ambiance as it is a rectangular bar with the sushi chefs in the middle making the hand rolls fresh in front of you. Service is awesome. Super friendly and quick, but not in a way where you feel rushed, just that they are paying attention. Also the happy hour is a great deal with four specialty rolls on the menu if you can make it (3-6 M-F). Their set hand roll options are also perfect depending on your hungriness and have a la carte options available too. Will be returning ASAP!
google avatar

Ryan L.

Yelp
Incredible hand rolls. Super crunchy exterior and the fish is phenomenally fresh! Honestly, probably the best uni I've ever had. I rarely order uni but I've ordered it almost every single time I've returned. The atmosphere is nice but I do think there is some room for improvement.
google avatar

Kayla L.

Yelp
Hand rolls were delicious, definitely best sushi experience downtown at a great price. It did seem a little disorganized, but I think that's just early growing pains. My only real complaint is that the hostess sat us right next to / in between 2 other parties when the rest of the place was empty. It was awkward and didn't leave any room for having a private conversation (privately).
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
I'm deeply disappointed with my experience at this restaurant tonight. As a loyal customer who has visited numerous times, I regret to say that I likely won't be returning. I brought friends from out of town and was met with subpar customer service that left us all dissatisfied. I was eager to try the Omakai experience and was asked about allergies by the waitress. I mentioned my single allergy to lobster. To my surprise, I was told that I couldn't order the Omakai experience because substitutions are not allowed for that specific prefix menu, though substitutions are permitted for all other prefix options. This policy struck me as inconsistent and unreasonable. While I understand that omakase menus are curated and not tailored to individual preferences, an allergy is not a preference. To better understand, I asked if the handroll selections for the Omakai experience change frequently, as is typical of omakase. The waitress informed us that the selections have remained the same for a while. This made the policy feel less aligned with the spirit of omakase--which, to my understanding, is a dynamic, evolving menu--and more like a standard prefix menu, just like the other options. This left me further confused as to why a small accommodation couldn't be made, especially since I wasn't requesting significant changes--just an alternative to the lobster, even if it meant a simple substitution with any other handroll. I've dined at many sushi restaurants and high-end omakase establishments in Miami, all of which have accommodated my allergy without issue. This was the first time I've ever encountered a complete refusal to accommodate my allergy. What made the situation worse was the lack of effort from the waitress to find a solution or make the situation better. My entire party was able to enjoy the Omakai experience while I had no choice but to opt out due to a single allergy. To add to the disappointment, the waitress avoided our table for the remainder of the night and did not offer attentive service. She even skipped over the survey at the end of the meal, which was provided to other parties around us. This experience not only fell short of the standards I've come to expect but also ruined what was meant to be an enjoyable night for my group. I sincerely hope the restaurant reconsiders its approach to accommodating customers with allergies. Until then, I cannot recommend this establishment.

Yelp
Great place. The best atmosphere it's great for vegetarians, meat lovers and sushi. I recommend everyone to visit this place

Jeff S.

Yelp
Killer concept with an enjoyable and affordable experience from start to finish. Strong culture evident as the staff visibly enjoyed their job and passed along to the customer. Fish was fresh and fast! Experience can be quick or you can certainly slow the pace if you want to hang out. Definitely not a place for gathering with a group as traditional hand roll bar seating is the only option, but again we absolutely give two thumbs up...wish we had one @ home!
