"You wouldn’t know from walking down the quiet street in Ivy City that one of DC’s most in-the-know breweries is there. But just off Okie St. is Other Half Brewing, of New York fame. The laidback brewery is a local favorite where you can chill out at the large covered patio and fill your afternoon with a deep, sweet stout that's high in alcohol content and barrel aged. Bring a birthday cake and a group of your closest friends, ride solo with a giant pizza so you can have as many hazy IPAs as you want, or snuggle up with your furry four-legged bestie, who is always more than welcome." - madeline weinfield

"The beloved Brooklyn brewery with a cult NYC following for its hazy IPAs, lagers, and barrel-aged stouts opened its first D.C. taproom and production facility in 2020 at the Hecht Warehouse. The 5,000-square-foot indoor tasting and taproom offers 20 draft pours at a time. Al fresco beer drinkers have 7,500 square feet of outdoor space to work with, between a patio with a covered pavilion and roof deck. Cans double as take-home art, labeled with wildly eccentric and cartoon-ish designs of everything from food to animals. Curbside pickup and delivery are available, too." - Travis Mitchell, Tierney Plumb
"On Friday, October 8, Ivy City’s Other Half Brewery hosts Portland, Maine’s High Roller Lobster Company, for an afternoon of rolls and guest pours from Tripping Animals, Human Robot, Ocelot, and more. Other Half hosts the annual beer-and-bivalves fest Oyster Wars from noon to 5 p.m. with seafood snacks from The Salt Line, Dauphines, and Harris Creek Oysters." - Tierney Plumb
"A wooden structure shields drinkers at this Brooklyn brewery’s new-ish D.C. taproom and production facility in Ivy City, which boasts 20 draft pours at a time. Seats are available on first-come, first-serve basis on the covered outdoor deck." - Adele Chapin
