In-house butchery and baking go into American bistro dishes in a bright, stylish space.
"When: Daily, from 4-6pm The Deal: Half-dozen oysters for $10, dozen oysters for $20, $2 off house cocktails, $11 classic cocktails, $11 wine, $6 beer For oysters and wine in a bright, plant-filled dining room, consider Otway in Clinton Hill. It’s got outdoor seating during the warmer months, and it’s never too busy. If the clock strikes six and you’re not ready to leave yet, Otway has a full dinner menu with things like chicken schnitzel and boquerones on a fried sourdough that’s made down the street at their bakery." - willa moore, neha talreja, will hartman
"Otway has brunch every single day, and even on a Tuesday you might see a table of friends catching up in the plant-filled dining room, or a couple in pajamas, feeding each other melon. During the week, you can use your laptop at this cafe, and it’s a nice change of scenery (one that could involve a juicy fried chicken sandwich). On the weekend, it’s the kind of place you might run into somebody you know eating the deluxe breakfast with eggs, crispy potatoes, toast, and a lamb merguez patty. Otway is also open for dinner, and they have a bakery right down the block, if you need an excellent croissant. " - willa moore, bryan kim, tiffany yannetta, neha talreja
"The Brooklyn bakery Otway put rice pudding Danish on its menu last fall." - Bettina Makalintal
"Fresh bread is really having a moment right now. But even if you haven’t mastered the perfect loaf, you can pick one up from this Clinton Hill spot. Otway’s pick up window is open every weekend, and in addition to fresh bread, they’re selling pastries, wine, and coffee. Be sure to stop by the next time you feel like taking a Sunday stroll down Fulton Street." - nikko duren
"We have doughnuts on the brain (which partly explains our guide to the best new doughnuts in NYC). If you relate to this, know that Otway in Clinton Hill just started selling a braided lemon poppy doughnut at their coffee counter." - hannah albertine
