Thank you Mauricio + Padre's team for providing a excellent service, food, and atmosphere for our celebration last Saturday! We appreciate how easy it was to setup our event from start to finish. We also have new wine we've added to our wine shelves at home due to the amazing recommendations.

Have been wanting to try this place out and it did not disappoint. The place has a cute vibe to it with great wine selection and food. I got the charcuterie board that was pretty good and a bottle of wine. Great place for a first date.

Amazing atmosphere with a fantastic selection of food and wine. The staff and chef were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable, making the experience even more enjoyable!

Padre’s is a wine shop, bar, and restaurant all in one located in the Heights. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice—great for an intimate date night or dinner with close friends. The inside has limited seating, but there is also outdoor seating, as well. We went during brunch for the first time. The brunch menu only had a few options and was very limited, and we were inquired about the oysters that they had for dinner. The service was great! The server and kitchen were kind enough to provide us with oysters despite it not being on the lunch menu. The oysters came on a plate of ice and was fresh at an amazing price of $2 each with pipettes of jabanero sauce. We also got the mimosa and steak frites. I enjoyed the mimosa, as it had a great balance of blood orange to prosecco. The steak was on the thicker side and came out more raw than we expected. Although the outside had a nice char, the inside was very raw. Usually we get medium rare, but I felt like a vampire chewing on a raw slab of meat. The steak was seasoned, though, and paired well with the sauce provided. Because we are in the Heights, parking is limited, but they do have an area designated for the location on the sides and parallel parking in front and across the street. Overall, I like the ambiance of the place and would visit for the mimosas and wine selection.

I hosted a Bridal Shower for about 20 women over the weekend at Padre’s Wine. From the first contact with Mauricio, he was more than accommodating and always available to answer any questions I had. The weather was questionable and we were able to move our event indoors seamlessly. The patio area is super cute as well. The entire staff was helpful and friendly. We had many of them helping rearrange furniture, carry stuff in, etc. The wine was great and we also had some appetizers and food which were nice as well. Thank you Mauricio and team for a wonderful event!

Delicious! I don’t recall to have ever delighted myself with a tacos so tasteful! The crab was also superb. All very fresh and flavorful. Service is very good and the atmosphere a retreat place, in and out. Will come back!

Google
Updated review…still awesome, with a much expanded menu and beautiful space. Service is top notch. Love this place Really enjoyed my visit on opening day. Beautiful space indoor and out. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Very interesting and thoughtful by the glass selections. Can’t wait to go back.

Google
Padre's is my wine bar away from home. I manage a wine shop in South Carolina, so I definitely can be choosy when it comes to wine spots. The service is incredible - Mauricio especially! Immaculate vibes, really strong BTG selections, and sneaky good bites. Seriously, the grilled cheese is the best I've ever had - you must try. I always leave with a few interesting retail bottles with the help of the knowledgeable staff. Great classic selections (think JL Chave) and some really compelling off-the-beaten-path gems (think Syrah from Mexico.) William and his team obviously know what they are doing, and I look forward to my visit every time I come to Houston.

Yelp
I'm so happy to find another wine bar close to me. I came on a weeknight, at first it was chill then there was a steady buzz of people. Unfortunately, it was wet outside so I wasn't able to see the outdoor seating but inside, there ample space for seating. There were only two people working but they were attentive as they can be. They have monthly menus. We decided on the hamachi crudo -- so tasty. Fish was tender and not chewy, citrusy flavor. Steak - had flavored salt, various dipping sauces, a creamy peppercorn, spicy wasabi or horseradish one, and a sweeter sauce. The steak was very tender and cooked well. The hot dog, probably one of the best ones I've had. The warm crusty potato bun was awesome. The hot dog toppings complimented it so well. Would come again for another one Pretzel was served warm, tasty cheese and mustard sauce too. The vanilla ice cream with caviar was a first for me. The caviar had hints of savory salt. I don't know if I would order that again but it was cool to try. They have lots of wine to choose from and it was all reasonably priced. I would love to return. They have street parking available as well as some along the sides of the building for dedicated spaces.

Yelp
A friend and I decided to go to Padre's Wine Bar after work for a glass of wine and a quick bite. I was pleased that they had their own lot with plenty of parking as I arrived. Once parked, I walked in through the back patio area and then into the bar/ store where I was greeted and help was offered. I looked through the store and then made my way to the bar to order. I loved that the gentleman behind the bar allowed me to try a few different wines before I had to select one as there so many blends I hadn't heard of, I may not have liked the one I picked. I also thought it was a nice touch that they have a large basket of blankets available for in case you get cold while you're there. I settled on a glass of the Zweigelt and was very happy with the selection. As for prices, they have a wide range of options and the majority of them are very reasonable. M-W they also offer flights which seems to be a great deal! I loved the ambiance of the back patio, the kind staff and the great wine so I'll definitely visit again!

Yelp
Great wine bar to sit back and relax on a sunny day. The selection was impressive, and there's always enough space (indoors or outdoors) to have a glass or two with a friend or partner. The staff were also very informative.

Yelp
My fav wine spot that carries a ton of delish dishes. I recommend their famous hot dog, duck gumbo, and their oysters.

Yelp
We first met William at a wine tasting and were inspired to visit Padre's--and we're so glad we did. The patio's ambiance was absolutely charming, offering a peaceful and laid-back setting that made for the perfect way to unwind after a hectic work week. We spent a lovely, cool evening sipping exceptional wine and savoring a thoughtfully curated selection of delicious dishes. The service style--ordering at the wine bar with everything brought to your table--was both relaxed and efficient. Every interaction was warm, attentive, and genuinely gracious, which added so much to the experience. The standout surprise of the night? A unique and indulgent dessert: vanilla ice cream topped with caviar and olive oil. Paired with the 2023 Gavarini Nebbiolo, it was a memorable finish to a perfect evening.

Yelp
Lovely neighborhood wine bar with a great interior and patio space. Laid back, come as you are type of place; we saw people in all types of clothes from casual to fancy date night. We happened to hit it on their 1 year anniversary party so we got to try their wine flight for $20. Service was friendly and fast. Parking: small lot and street.

Yelp
Found my new hangout spot! Super cute wine bar. I love the style, all the white decor and open design makes everything so welcoming. Plus the servers were super nice. I learned that they have wine tasting every Thursday. I was exposed to some very different Texas wines. One was a blend of moscato, cab, white, etc. it's was different and fun. I went with bae, but can't wait to go back with my girl. They also have food. I had the cooked and raw oysters. They both were delicious. They provided this habanero sauce with the raw oysters and it's no punk B, but good. Just be modest till you figure out what works for your profile.

Yelp
I was there briefly to buy wine, but staff was friendly and the place is beautiful. I loved the chill vibe. Had plenty of seating with tables, couches, and the bar. Has a pretty diverse wine selection with a little bit of everything. Normal prices. I can't wait to go back and sip some wine at the bar.

Yelp
My best friend and her husband frequent this bar. One of them claims the hot dog is the best hot dog ever. After trying it, I was not disappointed. Was it the best ever? Maybe not, but it was top tier. However, for me, the star of the show was the caviar and ice cream with olive oil. Everything about the dessert just works. The salinity and brininess of the caviar complement the ice cream so well - I think I have a new favorite dessert. The servers were so gracious and helpful. They let us take all the time we needed to decide on what to order and let us sample whatever wines we wanted to try. Surprisingly, on a Sunday evening, there were not many customers at all, so seating was plentiful. The bar provides outdoor seating as well as a variety of indoor seating options. We opted for the high table to allow for a more intimate conversation with bar vibes. I will be returning when I'm back in Houston for the ice cream!

Yelp
Such an adorable spot tucked away in The Heights! No happy hour, but the prices were reasonable for both glasses and bottles. Loved the outdoor section. A great spot for groups and couples alike!

Yelp
I entered at 7:45. I sit at the bar. Great ambiance. excited to be here! The first bartender was wonderful. The second slapped the food menu on the counter when I asked for it, and stated briskly, "Kitchen closes at 8:30!" I said "Great! I have 45 minutes!" Bad energy. The wine is wonderful! I order a charcuterie and cheese board, supposedly by Houston Dairy Maids, all hard cold cheeses, but palatable. The 2 bartenders are running around cleaning like they are closing. So, I moved to a cozy chair, and asked for the small plate that should have come naturally to the staff. Then I see the two bartenders running around cleaning like their hair is on fire all around the space. so, I asked the manager, at 8:40, if they were about to close, and he said, "No, we close at 10". I said, "Oh, okay, I was just curious, because everyone is running around us like they are cleaning for closing." He said, "Oh no, we are just making sure it's clean for everyone." I said, "Well, it seems like they are just ready to leave, that's why I asked, because I thought we had until 10." I have been in the service industry for 30 years, and, I am just giving you the perception as a first time customer. And, he said, and I quote, "Well, you can go somewhere else then!" Bye! I was very polite. I should have walked out when the bartender slapped the food menu on the bar and rudely said, without looking at me, "The kitchen closes at 8:30!" First impressions are forever.

Yelp
Clean aesthetic, welcoming, and really great outdoor patio area!!! This is really a great escape, or perfect way to end the week with your favorite person or a cute date night. Huge selection of wines to drink there or to take home on their retail side... First time here, and knowing how much they pride on wines and their history, sourcing wines from different areas, I wish they took the time to really draw us into that experience. We came on a Friday night, sat at the bar, but no one was really focused on the patrons, saw staff members constantly running around and bussing tables, or helping the tables by taking orders, everything was bustling and busy, and it was very loud and obvious...wish we could savor the moment and talk to the bartender about the wine and I felt like I had to flag people down or make it obvious that I needed something. I will also say, I wish they offered more small bites to enjoy with the wine...we ordered both baked and raw oysters, the charcuterie board and the bread basket...an entire bottle of white wine and two additional glasses...for what we ordered, I do feel it was on the pricier side, and didn't feel that the vibe or the service really matched the quality of their wines.... I do love it though, and will definitely be going back to try other wines! I also love to gift wines to others and this place is perfect for a drop in!

Yelp
Staff were so accommodating for our group of 10~ We met here on a Monday night for girls night/book club. Everyone was able to order their own wines and foods on their own tabs which I always appreciate. We moved chairs to fit everyone and tried moving them back when leaving but they were adamant on us leaving them I thought the food was great for a wine bar, price and quality wise. I'm not sure if it was just this specific day or Mondays in general but oysters were basically half off! $1.50/each for 6 = $9. Regularly it's 3 oysters for $9 BLT surprised me. Great flavor, had the textures you want, crunch. Good. Love love love the natural lighting. Patio out back is also very nice once it gets cooler. Mixed crowd of people during our time here. Love to see it.

Yelp
This spot is SO cute! Found it on TikTok and had to try because it looked like the most quaint patio wine spot. Safe to say that I loved it and will definitely be back. Their staff was so incredibly friendly and truly took their time to ensure I loved the wine I had, I tried a few different wines and the staff recommended a few as well. Highly recommend this place! The wine I had was great & their bread service was delicious too.
google avatar

Beth W.

Yelp
Definitely a fan of this spot. Plenty of seating options to meet up with friends, date night or maybe do a little work (with a glass of wine of course). Wine list was just enough to give you some choices but not be overwhelming. We also had some snacks that were nice. Hoping to see some more food options, especially desserts! Parking is limited so plan for street parking or ride share.

Yelp
If I could rate HIGHER than 5, I MOST definitely would. I visited Padre's Wine Shop for my 55th Birthday and couldn't ask for a better birthday experience. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed. The customer service and ambiance were superb. The food was simply delicious (the Baked Oysters, pretzels, Wagyu Denver Steak, and popcorn must-tries), and my wines were wonderfully crispy and refreshing (I'm joining the wine club). Thank you, Padre's Wine Shop, for making my day, dining, and wine experience SO memorable.
google avatar

Javier B.

Yelp
When I saw that Padre's Wine opened I knew I had to try it. Who could go wrong with a nice wine place in the neighborhood? I walked in and was pretty impressed with the set up. There's a nice selection of bottles of all grapes and vintages, which you can enjoy in the bar area or take home. The bar area is really nice with plenty of seating options. The staff was attentive and helpful, we selected an earthy red. We also snacked on some tasty cheese bread with olive oil which was a perfect compliment to the wine. Will definitely be back to try more wine and food!
google avatar

Margaret T.

Yelp
It's been a week later, but I'm still thinking about the orange wine and baked oysters at Padre's. My new go-to wine place. Favorites: oysters (both baked and raw. Raw comes with the delicious hot sauce). Cabernet and orange wines were delicious. Paella was alright, I prefer the creamy type, but theirs is more dry.
google avatar

Christina A.

Yelp
Ambiance was nice but not the people. First off it's a seat yourself place but when we tried asking staff about a certain seating spot that just opened up, the lady ignored us and started moving a table and chairs for other people. Then we finally sat down and ordered a bottle of wine and a charcuterie board. They told us the board would 30 MINUTES because they needed to cut cheese. The wine was good but when we finally got the board, it was pitiful. I make a better one at home.. Then I look at what they charged and it was $87.27, after a $5 tip I should NOT have given. The wine was for sure only $44. This is not ok. Definitely won't go here again to be overcharged and discriminated..
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing wine selection and good light bites. I wish they had a few more options but everything I ordered was tasty. Lovely ambiance

Yelp
Super cute wine bar in the heights! We popped in on a random Sunday and the place was full, but the staff were nice, quick to serve us and accommodating on getting us seated. We only came in for a drink since we already ate (hear the food is good and can't wait to try!). Had one of the orange wines and a rose and we were both pleased! The interior of the place is so beautiful with a lot of natural lighting and seating for groups as needed but the patio was the real star! Can't wait until it's cooler out to enjoy it. All in all - I'll definitely be returning

Christi B.

Yelp
Padre's is my happy place, and I'm not even a wine drinker !! Between the chic aesthetics of the place, the not-your-average hot dog (a must have!), fresh oysters, and the chill vibes- it became an instant Houston fav for me.
google avatar

Raquel C.

Yelp
Cute spot but prices are ridiculous and it's a tad stuffy for the area in my opinion. Food is fairly good but service is definitely lacking - depends who is working that day I wish they offered a good happy hour!
google avatar

Kristin J.

Yelp
This is such a neat, cute new wine bar! It has outdoor and indoor seating. The wine is phenomenal and the food is excellent as well. I had the grilled cheese and shared a charcuterie board with friends. Both choices were excellent! I highly recommend this place. The only other thing I would say is, I wish there were a bit more food options.
google avatar

Roma B.

Yelp
Such a cute wine shop! Perfect for a girls night out. Loved the bread board, it had jalapeño and regular breads. We got a bottle of one of the orange wines. It was plenty for 4 of us to have about 2 glasses! There's a parking lot in the back too.
google avatar

Erin C.

Yelp
Great, neighborhood wine bar! Loved the selections and the interior. My only complaint is the seating. The chairs are low to the ground and other chairs have low backs. Would like to see more on the menu as well. But it's a cute, date night or girls night spot with a nice wine selection.
google avatar

Jessie L.

Yelp
Ok I give this a sold 4. I loved the ambiance, I love the food, but ordering at the counter was not what I expected to match the busy Thursday night vibe. The service was good but more on a casual grab a drink night. It just didn't hit the mark for a solid girls night out. I would definitely check it out on a slower night. I'd say this is more for the younger crowd looking for a quick drink before going to dinner. Check it out!
google avatar

Matouš P.

Yelp
Overall it's okay. The wine menu is nice. The food menu is pretty small as are the portions. The staff is friendly but there are limited bar seats where you can interact. Were glad we came in but also would not be in a hurry to come back since we don't live in walking distance. We would he more prone to come back if they had better food options. The bar staff was the highlight of the visit.
google avatar

Daniel O.

Yelp
This place is a wine shop & wine bar...but DO NOT sleep on the food here. Plenty of wine options to quench your thirst but give the food a chance. I had the chicken soup yesterday for a late lunch, and this is hands down the best chicken soup I have ever had. The sandwiches are always on point too. The staff is very chill and helpful. The space is clean, crisp and bright during the day. One of the better looking patios can be found here as well.
google avatar

Leslie R.

Yelp
Nice ambiance with plenty of seating and great lighting. Noise level is energetic but not too loud. The staff is very knowledgeable and will help you choose if you can't decide on a wine. I love the crab roll
google avatar

Yelp
Great ambiance, friendly staff, and delicious food. Also, they have a dog friendly patio that is absolutely adorable.

Yelp
After a Thursday lunch at Handies, two doors down, we stopped in Padre's and were immediately greeted and asked if were were interested in purchasing some wine or having a glass. Since I was in Houston on business and leaving the following evening, the idea of taking a bottle back to the hotel did not make sense, besides, we came for an afternoon glass of wine. The shop is clean, well laid out, light and airy, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Also, the back patio looks marvelous. Unfortunately it was 100 and sunny outside, so we moseyed up to the bar and ordered. Again everyone was incredibly nice... even the two guys at the other end of the bar who had left Handies about 20 minutes before we finished. The wine was good. Since we had already eaten we did not have any food items, so cannot speak to that. After enjoying our beverages and wishing we were able to sit outside, we looked around the store. Travis Walker stopped over while we were looking and was extremely friendly. I hope Pardre's does well and remains in business for a long time, because I plan on visiting every time I am in Houston. Have already recommended this place to several Houstonians.
google avatar

Macy B.

Yelp
Padres is a very cute bar off of white oak where you can order wine and sit at a table/ couch with friend. You can either buy wine by the glass or buy a bottle from their shop and pay a $15 corking fee. The wine shop service was great- when we walked over to look at the wine selection, a wine connoisseur came over and helped us figure out which one fit our palate.
google avatar

Deets H.

Yelp
Awesome spot, great owner, perfect date spot on its own or as a precursor to Coltivare or Handies. Amazing patio

Mr. V.

Yelp
Wine selections is decent. Food menu is good. However, make sure you come early before 10pm. Kitchen closes when you are just warming up. Fail. This is not the after party place.
google avatar

Gina V.

Yelp
such a cute modern place, on the inside and the outside. staff is so kind and love the unique wine choices that they have. they also have a store that sells wine that i need to checkout next time!

Bnh H.

Yelp
Wine and food were great Service was okay but some of the folks who were serving were a bit pretentious. This made me uncomfortable. But what really got me was the fact they charged our party of 3 a 20% gratuity without telling us. There was no verbal cue nor was there a line item on the receipt that showed the included gratuity. I had to do the math myself to figure out why the bill looked odd. That rubbed me the wrong way and gave me a bad feeling about this "establishment".
google avatar

Sarah A.

Yelp
Intimate, low-key, and elevated! This was a great wine spot for Happy Hour and meeting up with friends. Highly recommend and will be back.
google avatar

DeAndrea C.

Yelp
Food, drinks, ambiance, location with free parking were absolutely wonderful! I left off one star because I was with a group and the owner stated he had to swipe our individual cards to split the bill even though he had the same machine most individually owned restaurants in Houston use so people can swipe or use Apple Pay. He pre charged my 3 friends between $30 to $50 and one of them hadn't even ordered yet. I keep my card locked for obvious reasons and I'm thankful I do that because he tried to charge me $1 and I know this because I received text alerts from my bank showing the amount as he was standing in front of me continuously swiping it. Eventually he said "well it's not working but I guess we will wait until the end." Postino's in CityCentre uses the exact same machine and I've been there numerous times and no waiter has ever done that! At some point it became very busy and he actually continued to stand in the area where people can purchase wine and watch our table like hawks while his daughter then waited on us while we continued. We even questioned his daughter about the pre charge and although she was very sweet and polite and she even demonstrated how the machine works. But again I've been to way too many places that use the exact same machine and have never been pre charged and there just is no excuse for that before our individual bills were finalized. I'm sorry if the business has had people who look like us walk out without paying but it's unfair to assume we are all like that and treat us like we're trespassing. This was classic profiling.
google avatar

Brent B.

Yelp
This is the best wine bar in town. The space is stunning and the wine selection is the best. They're really into small production, biodynamic style wines that taste vibrant and natural.

Jessica D.

Yelp
I want to love this, but have been 4x and really only delivers on being mediocre, at best. There are some tasty wines, sure. But the service absolutely sucks. If you sit outside they don't serve you-- you still have to go to the bar yourself... while their staff are shooting the breeze and literally doing nothing. Why tip? We tried outside but were getting eaten by mosquitos (hint: manage that, y'all), and sat at bar for another 30 min. Not ONCE did someone check on us, ask if we wanted another drink, or otherwise indicate they considered us in any way. Again, there were 4 staff behind bar talking and... no working. Will try Mutiny for wine or any of the impressive cocktail bars in lieu of coming here again. Highly recommend The Heights Grocer for great & quirky wines as an alternative to grab a bottle!

Yelp
Houston still needs to up its wine bar game. I was excited to find somewhere closer to me, this was a classic "I'm in the heights bar, so we don't have to try to be cute, it already is bar" fail. Wine is yummy, but a wine bar should have a HUGE menu and also a wait staff?? The place was nice and chic inside, but it felt cold and almost like you were hanging out in a living room? Not sure this place will last unless they take the feedback from folks! Get a wait staff.

Yelp
Walking in the ambiance is top tier. The bar is dressed in a bright, clean look that is palatable to the eye. Seating is comfy and varied between couches to tables to bar. The wine is excellent with orange wine section that neither me nor my partner have tried. Food was excellent w high quality olive oil and cheeses. Service was excellent and hlthe servers recommendations based off our preferences was one point. Really good for casual hang out or a date

Yelp
Had a very strange experience here with staff. Bartender asked to ID my friends and I multiple times before allowing me to order and then was very accusatory and implied that my ID was fake. My friends and I are all in our mid 20s and I have never had issues with bartenders questioning our age. When she finally allowed me to pay for my drink she said "this is a big deal I could lose my license and go to jail", implying that she still believed I was underage. My friends and I felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome after that which was disappointing because we were excited to try this place. I don't think the under 21 crowd is frequenting wine bars so I'm not sure why this was such a big ordeal. The wine we had was okay, but on the bright side the food we ordered was pretty good! Sadly we will not be returning after this experience.

Yelp
This place is a great addition to the already expanding white oak district. Reminds me of a Sonoma county wine shop/bar.

Yelp
After paying for a grilled cheese sandwich, I left. Got home and had a 50.00 charge. Paying for the grilled cheese at the bar with my credit card didn't close the bill out so they charged me. Do not go here

Yelp
Thank you Jesus!!! Been Jones'ing for a new wine bar in the Heights since Sonoma closed. It's in the old theater space at White Oak and Harvard. Large patio area that is pet friendly and a bar as well as tables inside. By the bottle retail shop up front that you can drink on site for $15 per bottle and a limited snacks menu. Will definitely be back!!!

Yelp
Just had an amazing time at Patre's, the new wine shop and bar! Located at 3522 White Oak Dr, Houston, TX 77007 This place is all about discovering hidden gems! They've got bottles from smaller production wineries in South America, France, Italy, and the States, plus some lesser-known regions from around the globe What's even better? Patre's supports sustainable operations and introduces you to family-owned wineries. Their Corkage fee is totally reasonable, so you can save some while enjoying their stunning indoor and outdoor spaces Don't forget to grab some lite appetizers to complement your wine!
