Palm Grill - Review - Quezon City - Manila - The Infatuation

"Palm Grill is one of the few restaurants in Manila that serves food from the southern part of Mindanao, specifically the ZamBaSulTa (Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi) area—and they represent the region well with chef-ed up takes on home cooking. Standouts include the pianggang manok, or a curry-like braised chicken dish that has a slightly sweet, nutty flavor. Another is the tender tiyula itum, a beef stew similar to bulalo made rich and buttery by torched bone marrow. Both dishes get their dark color and smoky taste from burnt coconut meat. But if you want to try a little bit of everything, get the dulang (Mindanaoan banquet platter) tray of Tausug dish samplers." - Jasmine Ting

First time to eat lunch here on the day they got their Michellin Bib Gourmand award we were the only customers, can't say I was surprised. Food was Amazing, serving size was generous. Hope they keep the consistency. Love the Mindanaon inspired decors using indigenous textiles. The next day when we passed by the place was packed, maybe due to the news of the award.

Worth the Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition!!! They brought the Mindanao cuisine to Manila and we love it! Even the service was excellent - staff were super friendly and jolly. Prolly one of the best restaurants to dine with your balikbayan family and friends!

The first bite alone explains why it earned the Michelin Bib Gourmand. I can’t believe I only discovered this restaurant recently. I don’t wanna exaggerate, but as someone who loves hopping from one food spot to another, I can confidently say wala talagang tapon sa dishes nila. It’s one of those rare places you can recommend without hesitation because you just know they’ll deliver every single time. Definitely a new staple on my list.

Amazing dining experience! What a great way to enjoy Southern Mindanao cuisine. Everything was delicious with layers and layers of interesting flavours. A must-try if you are after authentic regional Philippine cuisine.

I have wanted to try this place for some time. The dishes are unique and very flavourful. They use quite a lot of spice and so it is good to go with rice. Nothing was super spicy and it is good for the taste of most. I find the bubuk rice interesting : with brown sugar sweet and dried fish taste. Overall it was a great experience. Next time I will try the bone marrow as I saw everyone ordered it.

I ordered their Dulang Share good for 5 pax. The viands included in the set are: Tiyula Itum, Chicken Pianggang, Chicken Belachan, Beef Kurma, and Kaliya Puso. The portions are a lot so just order extra carbs: turmeric rice or pita bread which can be dipped in the beef kurma sauce. The Knicker Fruit Halo-Halo is also a must try. All the food tasted good. Recommend this place!

Yes, I found a legit restaurant serving South Mindanao cuisine! When I was in Zamboanga, Sulu, and Basilan, chicken piyanggang and tiyula itum were my go to dishes. I spent my birthday lunch here, and It's the same exact flavor and taste profile here at Palm Grill, authentic it is. The only thing I wish is they add more sauce on that piyanggang dish. It's so good that my mom really liked it. Definitely will be going back. The staff are nice and attentive. Parking is available. The downside is they have unreliable credit card terminals, so prepare your cash or bank apps. Given their price point, I hope they sort this one out.

It is difficult to find the food here anywhere else! Food is absolutely unique for something that is considered Filipino cuisine. I had a great meal, but I can imagine it'd be better with a friend! The ice cream on the halo-halo starts off very sweet, but once you can get to the sour mango at the bottom, the taste will balance out well! The ambience includes very authentic decorations. Even the tablecloth has a traditional pattern. The lights were too bright for me, so it was a bit distracting. Service was really good. Staff can recommend meals and they even ask for feedback. Other than the very bright lights, I had a great meal overall!
