As a Zamboangueño, I had high expectations when dining at this restaurant, hoping for an authentic taste of our local cuisine. Unfortunately, it did not fully deliver the culinary experience I was looking for.
The satti was acceptable in terms of flavor, but the tamu (rice) was too soft, and the sauce could have been spicier. The tyula itum has potential but needs improvement, particularly in enhancing the charred coconut flavor and spiciness. The beef kulma also fell short and is sweeter than it should be. It could benefit from stronger and more balanced spices for a richer taste.
The locon was disappointing. It was not even close to a proper locon, and the sauce was nowhere near the famous Alavar sauce, as a completely different sauce was used. The knickerbocker was okay, but it was overpriced for what was served.
The interior could also use improvement, as the tables were wobbly and the chairs were uncomfortable.
On a positive note, the service was good and attentive.
If asked whether I would come back, maybe.
