The 13 Best Restaurants In Brighton & Hove - London - The Infatuation

"Palmito on Western Road is so physically small that if you had to share this space with someone you loved for a full business week, it would probably result in a swift separation. But for a cachaća-infused evening amidst tasteful foliage, it’s perfect. The changing menu is like the travel itinerary for the gap year we never had—Peruvian ceviche, Mexican salsa macha, a distinctly Italian pistachio tiramisu—but the best dishes are the things that hint at the founder’s Ecuadorian roots. The tacos, whether filled with crispy local haddock and tomatillo salsa or tender birria pork primed for a dip in guajillo broth, rank as some of the best we’ve tried this side of the Atlantic. It’s popular, so be sure to book a couple weeks before your visit." - heidi lauth beasley

Palmito

"The plates are small and the flavours are big at this wonderful little neighbourhood restaurant. The style of the food is described as ‘spice driven’ and draws on multiple global cuisines across the selection of affordable dishes. The décor is simple and understated, but the cooking is bold and interesting, with an appropriate degree of care taken in the kitchen. Kick your evening off with a colourful cocktail, and make sure to end it with a delicious dessert." - Michelin Inspector

We had the most wonderful experience at Palmito! From start to finish, everything was outstanding. The food was absolutely delicious , every dish was full of flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with care. On top of that, the staff were amazing: warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, which made the whole evening feel extra special. Palmito strikes the perfect balance between incredible food and exceptional service. I can’t wait to come back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience!

Everything was just AMAZING here! Place was nice and cosy. Service was friendly, dishes were huge on flavours and very delicious, including the Pistachio Tiramisu. Menu changes but the plates we got were the Padron Pepper, Grilled Scallop, Prawn Tacos, Curry Mussels, Oyster Mushroom, Grilled Corn. Can’t wait to be back!

We dined at a restaurant called Palmito and had an incredible experience. The tasting menu was a delight—every single dish we tried was outstanding. Highlights included the Padron peppers, mussels, prawn taco, mezcal, margarita, and the beautifully crafted cocktails. The service was impeccable, warm, and attentive. Everything was perfect from start to finish. We’ll absolutely be returning!

One of the best meals I’ve had in my life and I’ve eaten at many 1 and 2 star spots. Delicious, creative, seasonal dishes. Pretty huge menu for a small place. We liked it so much, we went back the next night to try more things. Standout dishes were the curry mussels, the leeks with blue cheese, the scallop, and the mushroom tostada. Lovely curated wine and drink lists as well. Once in a while I encounter a restaurant on vacation that causes me physical distress to be separated from. This is one of those. I hope to come back. My only complaint is the noise level when the restaurant is full.

One of the best restaurants in Brighton! The menu is changing often according to the season and the local ingredients you can have. Diego’s cuisine is very innovative combining tastes that you probably have never tried before! And staff is very friendly and quick! Definitely worths a visit!

We booked a table well in advance as the venue is very small, with limited seats and asked a nice table for a celebration. We got a corner table just by the super hot radiator instead 😶 Other than that, the service was spotless, staff was attentive and the food was delicious. The portions are tinny so we were recommended to order 2-3 per person. We went for 6 dishes for two of us but I felf like it was a bit too much and we had no room for dessert 🥺 Nevertheless, all of them absolutely yummy. My favourite were the oyster mushrooms tostada and the smoked aubergine. The beef was so mouth watering (top 3 steaks I had), but being pregnant I’m avoiding rare/medium cooked meats so my partner got to savour it more. I would definitely return to try their desserts as well and the fish/seafood options after having the little one.

Fantastic all round. All the plates were tasty as heck. The mushroom tostada in particular. Would highly recommend. It’s a cosy, small place and the table by the window was the best spot for a couple. Staff were lovely and the cocktails were dreamy. Get in early and reserve a table!

Palmito food is Delicious! Presenting the finest well sourced ingredients with careful attention to detail. This restaurant brings the buzz of local products combined with South American flavours. Although small and with tables very close together, this tiny restaurant still manages to create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy their tapas style dishes. Every dish is carefully crafted and perfectly executed and comes out when ready. It's laid back and friendly approach leaves diners wondering what's going to be delivered next! I highly recommend these types of neighbourhood restaurants, so much better than the chain restaurants that are dominating our high streets. It was also very reasonable in price. We spent about £150 for two including 10 x plates to share and a bottle of wine. You could easily spend a lot less by just ordering 6x dishes as recommended, but we are greedy and love to eat!! Enjoy..
