"Palmito on Brighton’s Western Road is so physically small that if you had to share this space with someone you loved for a full business week, it would probably result in a swift separation. But for a cachaça-infused evening amidst tasteful foliage, it’s perfect. The changing menu is like the travel itinerary for the gap year we never had—Peruvian ceviche, Mexican salsa macha, a distinctly Italian pistachio tiramisu—but the best dishes are the things that hint at the founder’s Ecuadorian roots. The tacos, whether filled with crispy local haddock and tomatillo salsa or tender birria pork primed for a dip in guajillo broth, rank as some of the best we’ve tried this side of the Atlantic.
