What’s not to love about this spot? I’ve been visiting for years, rotating between the Syrian style chicken shawarma wrap or the half rotisserie chicken plate and I’m legit never let down. This place is very consistent. They offer all around Super fair prices, with a big portion size, everything is well seasoned and fresh and the staff are all extremely nice. Just a solid, to the point, delicious middle eastern meal. Best part is that it’s not greasy at all either. Also low key one is the best hummus I’ve had. It’s a place you’ll feel good supporting, give them some support, you won’t regret eating here. The plate in my photo literally only cost $15, you can’t ask for more!

Great great shawerma. I tried the chicken shawerma platter and it was delicious. Their hummus is great too. Would love to come back and try some other delicacies on their menu.

Wonderful casual Syrian place with lots of seating. Got the mezze platter and it was delicious - some of the best falafel I’ve had and the hummus is so creamy. Very friendly owner too!

The cucumbers and tomato are so fresh, and everything is just so high quality. I've never had falafel so soft and fluffy before. The moussaka has a grilled eggplant that is perfectly charred on the outside and creamy on the inside. This place is a gem. The staff are just lovely too. The curvy booths are fun.

I spent over $30 on lunch here, enough for two people (or one really hungry person). Got lamb skewer only and Mezza appetizer platter. Both were delicious and fresh, but not the best I've had and not the best value. I would go back if convenient but I prefer Truly Mediterranean for this level.

The best falafel I've ever had! Food was great and decently priced. I had the half rotisserie chicken meal and it was delicious, crispy, and not dry. I went with friends that are vegetarians and they had many options and enjoyed their meals too.

Definitely one of the best roast chicken meals I have had in a very long time. I’m so glad the owner suggested it to us. It was perfectly cooked with very crispy and savory skin. And it was such a great value. I also highly recommend the sides, definitely suitable for vegetarians. We also had a really delicious baklava that definitely will have us coming back for dessert too.

The falafels are incredible, the babaganoush flavorful, and the hummus is perfectly balanced. Easily the best falafels I have had and as a vegan I had plenty of options. Give this place a try. It's affordable, authentic and delicious.

Palmyra has that special something. The half rotisserie chicken meal is absolutely delicious and great value. The food travels well for pickup and delivery, but the restaurant's round table seating offers great dining in options. The staff and owner are incredibly friendly and food comes out fast. A+ neighborhood spot.

Ordered delivery for Kofta Kebab platter which includes hummus and cucumber salad, chicken shwarma, saffron rice. Added Greek salad, chicken Shwarma, and lentil soup. Kofta Kebab platter was nicely seasoned with cucumber side Salad, rice & hummus. Greek salad plentiful. Chicken Shwarma nicely wrapped to keep warm, extra pita bread, lentil soup, hot sauce & garlicky mayo. Consistently great dining experience. Highly recommend!

Stopped by this place since we were hungry and it was the closest option that looked good. I ordered the lamb shawarma wrap with a side of fries and they were delicious! Portion sizes were just on par with my appetite. Surprisingly the cost came out to be less than I anticipated considering it's San Francisco. Service was good and our booth was nice and clean. 10/10 from me for the overall rating.

It was my first time here . They had inside Ian's outside sitting area . I ordered the half chicken plate ( which was coming with cucumber salad and hummus and pita bread) . The food was really good . Taste delicious. Good portion and affordable price. For sure I will be back again to try something else . The lady behind the cashier was also nice and friendly. The only thing I can say as an improvement: The size of the plate was very small compared to the amount of food and everything was mixed together. It would be better if the food was served on a bigger plate. I had to be careful every moment that the salad, hummus or a piece of chicken or bread did not fall out of the plate. I also ordered a piece of Kanafeh to go . That was not very good .

I love this place. Best service, amazing delicious food. And great ambiance. It was a wonderful experience with my son, he loved the food too.

I really liked the interplay of spices and seasonings in my lamb shawarma wrap. Cinnamon was the first taste I identified and perhaps cumin, sumac? It was delicious. I felt they packed it with too many pickles which made it overly sour. Baba ghanoush was slightly smoky and blended perfectly but had no accompanying pita bread. A dusting of sumac would've been a nice touch. My son's lamb kebab was good, a generous portion of lamb over saffron rice with creamy hummus and diced tomatoes and cucumber. Moudamas ($10), fava beans with parsley, garlic, tomatoes was far too soupy and again, was supposed to be accompanied by pita bread, nope. The Orangina ($3) was completely forgotten along with the receipt. I sent my son back in for both. Food was pretty good but the execution, indifferent, with the word "forgotten" used too frequently.

First foray into Syrian cuisine, and it was similar to other middle eastern cuisines with subtle differences here and there - We got the standard affair of dolma, labneh (spelled labni here), tabouleh, hummus, falafel and baba ghanouj. The hummus was light and flavorful, and the labneh was delightful. Falafel was muffin shaped instead of the standard balls and topped with sesame seeds. The folks behind the counter are sweet and accommodating, and the seating is cozy. Little gripe: I hope they can start serving their spicy and garlic sauces in-house in squeezee bottles instead of little plastic tubs.

Good food and nice service. We enjoyed our Chicken Schawarma Wrap, the 1/2 rotisserie chicken and the desserts. Salad and hummus delicious accompaniment. My hubby likes the Namoura (made in house, sweet, almond cake with syrup and almond slices) while I prefer the Halva (chocolate almond bars). We both shared and enjoyed the Baklava. Ambiance - lots of round booths. Would go back when we are nearby this neighborhood again.

Best Falafel I've had to date. Donut shaped, sprinkled with sesame seeds, light and airy with the texture of dreams. Best to have fresh. People at the restaurant have always been friendly and seems to be a family business. I'm a vegan (this place is very veg/vegan friendly) but took my friend who had the chicken shawarma and said it was good. Don't live in the neighborhood anymore but when I did I was here every week.

The food was very good. I think it's the best restaurant in the neighborhood. Falafel was the standout seemed very light and came freshly fried.

I could not decide between the Lamb & Chicken Wrap Shawarma so I opted to get 2 meals in one visit. Both wraps were generous, and bountiful but the Lamb was flavorful vs the Chicken which was dry. I might considered other offerings, but I refrain from eating Humus that is not made fresh each day. As for my experience with Palmyra, the order was placed via DoorDash and in this case their pricing matched the merchant. The online application was easy to use, and it prompted me when the order was ready for pickup. Given Palmyra is at a corner the cross street was used for the car so that I could run in for my Lunch / Dinner. Inside the space was slightly busy via seated customers, and a handful of persons waiting for takeout, but given my order was ready the bulk of my time spent inside was for the taking of images. For a casual low key space Palmyra is okay, but for me I'd limit my return for their Lamb Wrap via Takeout.

Was looking for restaurants in Lower Haight, and came across this gem. I was curious to try it out because the Yelp listing had the "Syrian" tag, and I had yet to get Syrian food. Getting a table on a Thursday evening was not bad at all. You order at the counter, and then food is served at your table. We got the chicken shawarma platter, falafel platter, and a moudama. The food was served pretty quick- with fresh pitas that had the right amount of warmth! I kid you not when I say this- I've had my fair share of falafels, but these might the best of the lot. The falafels were soft, had a crunchy exterior, and had sesame seeds sprinkled on top. Exceptional, no notes. The chicken shawarma was tender, flavorful, and a sizable portion as well. You can't really go wrong ordering this either. The moudama was something I had never had before- it was mashed fava beans, tomatoes, some light spices and garnishing. It paired soooo well with the pitas. You ought to try it fam. 10/10 would go again!

Met a friend here, got the chicken shawarma platter and shared a side of labni with cucumbers instead of the usual pita (the guy was really chill about the substitution). Food totally hit the spot, everything tasted amazing and it was quite filling. Reasonable prices too. Loved the relaxed atmosphere, wall art and comfortable round booths. Would be a regular if I lived nearby.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch at Palmyra. We ate the mezze platter---the falafel are really flavorful, crunchy and light. The moussaka is super comforting, yet light. There are lots of vegetarian and vegan options. I'm excited to add this to my rotation.

I got the chicken shawarma plate -- the chicken was ok if a bit dry, the hummus tasted nice but was very thin, the tomato and cucumber salad was average, and the pita was standard. However, the tiny thimble of garlic sauce is absolutely habit-forming and you won't regret ordering a side of falafel. The falafel is super crispy without being overly oily, and a really decent size for $1 each!

This place has slowly became my go-to for a quite bite that doesn't swallow my wallet. My order: Chicken Shwarma Wrap - This has solid flavor, and is super filling for the price with their pickled vegetables really carrying this small but hefty wrap. French Fries - I would honestly say these aren't super worth it, since there are French fries in the wrap, it ends up feeling like quite a lot.

Ok - I like middle eastern food so I'm giving this spot the benefit of the doubt as I tend to be less punitive on what seem to be family business. My first gripe with this place is the time that I waited for the food to be ready between the time I ordered and the general taste and quality of the dishes. This is the definition of mid. You won't get sick from eating here but it certainly won't blow your mind if you're looking for your next reasonably priced whole in the wall spot:

Popped in yesterday, after a very long walk. So pleased to see they finally had the windows professionally washed. They were such a turn off "for me". The folks are really nice. Prices are quite reasonable. I had the Falafel Wrap. It was considerably smaller than it was the last time I had one. Appreciated the fact they cut it in half. It was o.k., but only barely warm. Not hot food is my biggest pet peeve. I added fries $1.50 to the wrap and let's just say it wasn't brimming over. In fact, I was hard pressed to find "any" inside the wrap. It wasn't busy, there was no one in the restaurant, it was about 5:00 PM. May be better to go earlier in the day, maybe near lunch time, then the food might "actually be hot".

Decent spot for authentic Syrian food! I stopped by to pick up a lamb shawarma platter. The lamb was very flavorful and mostly tender. Overall, portions for the meat were pretty generous. The hummus was tasty as well. Meanwhile, the cucumber tomato salad was not memorable at all. The major downside with ordering takeout here was that the pita (2 halves) was packed underneath all the meat, which made the pita completely soggy and drenched in oil. I wish the pita was placed on top of the meat or packaged separately. My partner ordered the Syrian style wrap and raved about how delicious it was. He enjoyed this wrap so much that he went back for another one the following day. Next time, I'll probably give the wraps a try instead of the platter.

Had dinner with friends here after an afternoon of climbing. We all had wraps: Chicken, Beef, and Lamb Shawarma. The Beef Shawarma was very flavorful and paired with a good sauce that was mildly spicy. My friend said that she liked it because it was mildly spicy, but not sour. The owner showed us that it was made from habanero. My other friend said he could still taste the lamb through it. The feel of the place was casual.

Good take away dinner. Shrimp a little tough, but the chicken and meats tender and nicely cooked. Great hummus, flavorful sides. Oasis brand pita, that's the good stuff. Rice is that "just keep eating!" flavor and texture basmati. Hard to find fault with anything else. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

4.5 stars! This is a very unassuming restaurant with good food and homey service. If you only had to order one thing, get their rotisserie chicken. Perfectly crispy on the outside but moist and steamy on the inside. Their mediterranean food is also super tasty. And its so affordable! We left stuffed. Not often you come across a place that hits the trifecta of cheap, tasty, and healthy.

I've been eating here since they opened in 2011. The food is consistently amazing. Even though I'm only in San Francisco maybe twice a year, when I eat in or get pickup, the owner remembers me...that kind of service is invaluable. The portions are HUGE!!! Their in house garlic sauce is something I've never seen anywhere else, and their hummus is the silkiest, smoothest, most flavourful I've ever had. My only complaint is that I don't live in SF so I can have it every day!

Pleasant easy-going family run business. Prices are exceptionally reasonable. The food is authentic and tasty plus the menu is quite extensive. The place is slightly cluttered sometimes and could benefit from some better use of space especially by the counter. Still, the informal style, friendliness and presentation is a fresh change from other SF slick food businesses. Highly recommend trying it out. Specifically, I loved their falafel wrap, tabouleh and my friend enjoyed the eggplant musaka with rice.

Placed a group order and everything was delivered well labeled, nothing missing. The person who talked on the phone was very professional and nice. The food was perfectly portioned for a meal - oftentimes a lot of restaurants give you a lot of food and charge you a lot more, but this place gives you the perfect portion with a very reasonable price. The coolest shop for shawarma, falafel, mezze platters, & Syrian style pizza (mana'eesh!) I tried the zatar pizza & it was perfectly crunchy & topped with the Arab summer trifecta of feta, cucumbers, & tomatoes. It was a personal sized pizza, perfect for a light meal. I loved the graffiti artwork & mural outside. There's plenty of seating. The staff is sweet & helpful. Definitely stop by!

The food was absolutely phenomenal and the portions were very generous. The Lamb Shawarma Platter was deliciously seasoned and the Rotisserie Chicken Meal was juicy and crispy. The yogurt garlic sauce and the tahini were both scrumptious. For their price point- the quality of the food is unmatched. We got our food to go and it was packaged very well with no spills whatsoever.

A very average tasting meal. Got the chicken schwarma platter for dine in and had the lamb schwarma wrap to go. Both tasted mediocre. Was not a fan of all the pickles in the lamb schwarma. I liked the baklava but then again how can baklava ever be bad.

Amazing food! I've ordered the fattoush salad, and chicken skewers and my boyfriend got the "Whole chicken meal". It was a lot of food. Fair price and great taste. Definitely coming back!

A sweet mom-and-pop shop feel. Unpretentious, casual ambiance. The food speaks for itself- I got the half chicken which comes with hummus, cucumber salad, and pita. Everything was so clean and fresh. Not to mention the kindness of the workers here. We were given falafel as well as baklavas on the house. -1 for the dry chicken breast (thigh was made perfectly) and the lentil soup I had was not impressive. Overall, support this small business. It will be one of my go-tos whenever I am craving Mediterranean.

Amazing food and affordable prices. The owner is super nice and she gives great recommendations. This is one of the only places to get fresh Kunafe. Please support this business as kunafe is hard to find. Lots of vegetarian options, even vegan. Please please please eat here and enjoy. My favorite hummus in a long time (I'm from the Middle East).

Palmyra is my family's go-to spot for affordable Mediterranean food since we discovered it 3 years ago. The quality and freshness of their offerings is consistently among the very best Middle Eastern restaurants in the Bay Area. Our favorites are the shawerma wraps, falafel and kofta. The kanafeh is also an excellent dessert option. My wife and I like Palmyra so much that we had them cater my daughter's birthday party this year. Not only was the food an absolute hit with all of our guests, working with their staff on menu recommendations, accomodating dietary needs of our guests and coordinating the day of the party was as easy as can be.

Well, we were looking to try a new place for Mediterranean...and this was not the place. (Forgive us for straying Beit Rima.) After seeing this place was well rated, we ordered some falafel wraps to go, through the yelp site. When I walked up, there were 2-3 customers sitting in/outside and no one at the counter. After sharing my name for the to go order and seeing my order ready, sitting in the counter, the person working there seemed like they could not care less. "Wow, my order is ready when I walk in, that's good timing!" I said. *Crickets* Then I wait while the person helps someone in the dining room, chats with a coworker who appears from the back, and then puts my order in a bag pretty darn slowly. "Thanks so much!" I said. *Crickets* So glad that I added that 15% tip when I ordered. Cut to three soggy, mushy-falafel wraps and Palmyra...never again.

Palmyra is a hidden local gem with authentic flavors, run by super friendly people. This place has the best shawarma (recommend Syrian Style) in the city. The meat is fresh and all the spices are on point. The experience tops it off with a side of turkish coffee. Great vibe for a quick afternoon grab!

The food turns out to be better than we expected, and the owner there was so nice. We very much enjoyed the meal, so please see the description of the food I got that night. - Lamb Shawarma Platter [GET]: I decided on getting the shawarma platter, because I wanted some hummus. I got lamb, and it was well-marinated and perfectly griddle-cooked lamb. The lamb was super flavorful and savory, just wished it was more tender, because I got tired of chewing at the end of the meal. The hummus with delicious and moist with a creamy texture. The cucumber and tomato salad on the side was refreshing. Pita bread was toasted just right and doughy. I hope they didn't put the lamb on top of the other half of the pita, because it got soggy towards the end. Overall, pretty good and solid meal. - Falafel [GET]: The falafel has a mixture of cooked garbanzo beans and spices fried in vegetable oil. It was pretty solid and well-fried with a crunchy outer layer, but still moist on the inside. Make sure to dip the falafel into the garlic sauce, definitely was the highlight of the dish. It was what made the falafel 10x better, literally the garlic flavor was strong, but in a very good and subtle way. Ambiance: 3.75/5 - The interior is typical hole-in-the-wall restaurant. The interior isn't that spacious, but enough to hold multiple parties of people. You can see the open kitchen as well, and plenty of wall décor everywhere in the store. The noisy level is low, and we came on an evening and it wasn't too pack either. A casual dining spot in the area, so nothing too special about it. Price: 4/5 - I got the lamb shawarma platter for $16 and the falafel was $1 each, so we got five total. My boyfriend and my two friends all ordered "The Palmyra" for $16 as well. The portion was huge and definitely a steal and got a good value. I couldn't finish my shawarma platter and had to take almost half of it back home. Service: 4.5/5 - This place is own by a Syrian family, and they are some of the most hospitable and friendly people I have met. Our server was an old man, and he was so down-to-earth and kind. He started sharing his story, his family, and how he preps for the food, etc. At the end, when I ask for a to-go box, he gave me two extra falafel to bring home too. He kind of reminds me of my dad in a way, very chatty to his customers as well. BLUF: Amazing Syrian food at a good bargain that is quite hard to find in this area. I will hit this spot again when I am craving for Mediterranean food. I recommend their falafel with their homemade garlic sauce, and for entrees, you really can't go wrong with any of them, but give "The Palmyra" a try. ** The following review reflects my takeout experience DURING the COVID-19 pandemic. ** I took a long walk to Golden Gate Park just to see sculptural artist Charles Gadeken's outdoor art installation, the Entwined Lighted Forest, with all the colorful blinking lights close enough to dusk to enjoy the illumination on Christmas Eve (review: https://bit.ly/3oQZNzf). Of course that meant a wintry walk home that would have seemed longer had I not remembered this place was on the way, and my recollection of their rotisserie chicken was a good one as you can see from my first review. After making my order online, I arrived to find several people waiting for orders since in-house dining was not an option, holiday or otherwise. I think even the staff was surprised how many orders they were making that evening, but I think the demand for comfort food grows exponentially during a socially isolated holiday. I know mine did, and I'm happy to report that their reasonably priced $8.50 Rotisserie Chicken was as succulent as I remembered, even the chicken breast (photo: https://bit.ly/3nYNZKp). The secret must be the brine because the white meat was actually comparable to the dark when it came to savory flavor. This place needs more credit!! It is only doing takeout right now because of COVID, but even then, it is one of my favorite places in San Francisco! It is a close walk to Haight and Ashbury, and located near numerous parks, so the location is great! I always call in advance, but they always make my food within 10 to 15 minutes, which is perfect because the food always seems fresh! Both the chicken and vegetarian platters are amazing, and I really like that they focus on the meat rather than shoving a bunch of rice into the box, because I get filled up with the meat, pita, hummus and salad rather than overpaying for some rice. And the meat is...to die for! They have huge servings at a great price, and the staff is always friendly when I go to pick up my order, so I will definitely be coming here again. I really wish this place was more well known! Please please give this place a shot even though it's not one of the "boujee SF restaurants," you won't regret it!

I LOVE this place. The food is superb at great prices. I love the mujaddara wrap and kibbi and the shawarma wrap. All TASTY AF! Load up on the garlic sauce and hot sauce for hella yummy time! And it feels good to support the sweet family that runs this place and provides genuine homemade yumminess. Don't miss it!

I love this restaurant and my Jordanian friends also approve :). The hummus and dolmas are great and the meat kebabs and shawarmas are consistently good. I am partial to roasted chicken in general .... and their roasted chicken is WONDERFUL and they somehow BBQ it as well, so you get a mild char on the meat. I mean who doesn't like a little char on their protein? If you like desert, their warm kanafeh is heavenly .... Honey, cheese, phyllo ... I mean how can you go wrong? I haven't really seen kanafeh on other restaurant menus in the Bay Area either, so I was happy to stumble upon this gem of a place that has it. The staff is also really nice :)

We stopped by on our way to Sac because it had great reviews. It did NOT disappoint. Firstly, the food was amazing. We ordered the lamb shawarma and chicken platter. Both were perfectly seasoned. The tzatziki sauce is creamy, tangy, garlicky. Perfect. We also ordered falafels. They were fresh, crispy, and had great flavor. We were originally planning on taking our order to go but then my husband found parking so we stayed. Let's say that aside from the food being on point, Yesur the cashier was so hospitable. After seeing that we were going to eat in, he brought us waters and utensils without us asking. He noticed by baby daughter (6 months) and brought us a banana for her, which was very considerate. Overall just a friendly and helpful guy. If you are looking for a place with decent prices, delicious food, and amazing customer service. Look no further. If I am ever in SF again, I will definitely be coming back!

We had our first meal from Palmyra and really enjoyed it. I had the mujaddara wrap and added fries inside (they're stingy on the amount of fries added for $1.50) and my partner had a beef schwarma wrap and we split A Greek salad -- all were great. However, if you unwrap the wraps to eat they become a huge mess, so either lane it wrapped or eat it with a fork on a plate. My partner picked up 4 different pastries when he went on to pick up our order. These were OUTSTANDING and must be tried. I don't know the names of them but two of them were out of this world. Although they looked like standard Mediterranean pastries, they far exceeded my prior experiences. We'll definitely be back!

I pass by this spot all the time but ironically I had never tried it until I was at a friend's place and they suggested we get takeout from here. I got the mezze platter, which had hummus, baba ghanoush, 2 falafels, grape leaves, and tabouli. The hummus is excellent - it's the smooth creamy kind I like - and the baba ganoush was also quite good (it's not the tahini forward kind I love and a bit more acidic, but it's good in its own right). I'm not a big fan of falafels or grape leaves but they did their job. Tabouli was also good but not standout. My friends got wraps which actually looked really good - will definitely have to check them out next time.

Great local neighborhood hole in the wall spot, staff is super friendly and the food never disappoints. The wraps and platters are good, generous portions and flavorful. The wraps do tend to become soggy as you eat it, but not too big of a deal if you're prepared to eat the last bits with a fork!

Chicken or lamb? Indecision. Lamb shawarma wrap $14 w/tax won. Easily eaten on the go. Chunks of lamb. Toasted wrap. At first crunchy then soggy. Inside lettuce and pickles. Savory and slightly sour right down my alley. Dripping juice makes it messy. They first wrap with paper and then foil. Be careful of eating paper because i think i did. Hunger means deliciousness. Too hungry so i ate the whole thing! Next time i will try their chicken next time. Half chicken with salad sounds good. Falafels were $1 each. Baklava $3.75. They have interesting rounded booths. Order, pay, and they get it to you. Or they will come to take your order. I circled the block looking for parking space. Quite a few eateries within a few blocks. Hard part is deciding what to eat. I had this bookmarked ever so long. Sorry no picture. Too messy and too hungry. Seems like i haven't eaten for days.

Really yummy and fresh. The falafel and Libbi were fabulous! Great place for a light lunch.
