It was a quiet midweek afternoon when I made my way to Paquita, nestled on a postcard-perfect corner of the West Village. The moment you arrive, there’s a sense of calm—subtle, polished, and unmistakably intentional. I had called ahead to make a reservation, and the process was effortless. No fuss, no delays—just a soft, warm welcome waiting at the door.
The interior strikes that perfect balance between posh and personal—soft lighting, layered textures, and a layout that invites slow conversation. We were welcomed by Nancy, who was as kind as she was knowledgeable. She guided us through the tea selection with genuine care, encouraging us to take our time as we explored their curated global collection. For nearly ten minutes, we lingered over jars, smelling and studying the ingredients before choosing a few stronger black teas. Every part of it felt intentional, thoughtful—never rushed. And for those looking for something gentler, they do offer a variety of caffeine-free options as well.
To accompany the tea, we ordered a full flight of their Baby Cakes Set—a delicate and beautifully presented selection that felt like a small celebration in itself. We chose a range of flavors: Royal Vanilla, Triple Chocolate Brownie, Orange Crème & Strawberry, Vanilla Crème, Royal Chocolate, Lemon, and Chocolate Strawberry. Each one was uniquely layered, striking that rare balance of elegance and indulgence. They didn’t overpower the tea—they danced alongside it.
Out of all the tea houses I’ve visited, Paquita might just be the one I’ll return to the most. It’s not only the refined setting or the global selection of teas—it’s the way you’re treated with such care. Nancy made the experience memorable, grounding it all with a sense of genuine hospitality. Paquita is the kind of place that lingers with you—soft, elegant, and just a little enchanting.
